It's so interesting watching your channel, James, from an American perspective. I can honestly say I don't believe I would ever hear a golfer in America say, "I marked my ball, removed the sheep droppings with my foot, then proceeded to putt." The things you see on golf courses there are just very different from here, and that makes your channel unique sir. Great job on the birdie and multiple pars. Looking forward to the back 9.
I owe you a couple of pints James. This is all so very relatable and I love your attitude to success/failure. I'm minded to assemble a bingo card for a few phrases too. Happy days!
as you say "happy days" (so - golf is a game of mistakes right? - you just need to hit that ball consistently (more times than not). when you "catch it" there is no doubt that you can be a single digit handicap. I believe you could have knocked off 5 or 6 strokes that you lost due to mishits. you are totally on track to being a very very good golfer. you don't need more distance, you don't need a 'draw' you just need to hit the ball more consistently (don't we all??????) and I believe you made the right decision on going back to your swing - not the new one - there is NO need to change it. Be safe and thank you so much for always making me smile and motivating me to practice more! Ron
I had commented on your swing change on previous video. You came out on this video with your normal swing and you looked a lot more comfortable and you played well. One bad hole and a 3 foot miss for par and you could have easily shot a 39-40. Keep doing what you’re doing🏌️♂️!
James, I echo some of the other comments: swing changes take time and it can be frustrating until the results show up on course. Wait till late fall/winter and work on them at the range where you don't have to worry about scoring.
Back to your old swing and apart from the one OB drive you seemed more comfortable. You missed a few short putts but that can be the greens and a little lack of concentration.striking the ball really well so just keep going and you will keep improving.
Another great round James. Happy that you reverted to your old swing, cos we play to enjoy it!! Getting frustrated over a new swing should be left for the winter months! Keep going pal 🏌️🏌️🏌️
Nice two James that was fun to watch. 🙂 You seem to be getting better as we go on and those drives are going pretty good apart from the odd one or two. Looking forward to seeing the back 9.
Glad you switched back to your old swing. Looks great. Driving was quite good and I noticed you hit a few really good draw shots into greens. Well done!
playing well James.. Driving superb about from the 1 OB... You seem to have gained a bit of distance.. Iron as always excellent and you were unlucky with the putts today.. 5 or 6 close one's.. Continue the good work..👍👍
Good front 9, another great vlog with real golf. 👍 One thing about swing changes though. They don't happen overnight and you MIGHT want to consider sticking to them for a full month to see the results.
These things take time pal, I know I’m doing the same thing atm…..played my worst round in 2 years after a very good lesson at St Andrews…..but I’m trusting the process as I was hitting it so much better during the lesson 😂🙈
I’d love to see the full 18 each time, maybe spread over two nights if you think it would be too long. We’re extrapolating your score from the front 9, but it’d be great to see how you get on for real.
Proper raw golf, playing through animals etc. I think you have the all round game to be able to play at high single figures. For a bit of fun I tried to replicate your swing on the range today and was surprised how pure you can hit a ball with that short backswing. Giving me something to think about.
Alright bud. You seemed much happier back with the old swing. But you said you'd hit the wall with it so maybe just stick with the new. Once it clicks and it starts to feel more natural you can kick on. But whatever you decide we shall keep watching regardless! I'm working in Llandudno this week. I think I passed a course you played! Might give it a try on Friday when I pack up! Ha
I noticed on the 7th green where you missed the par putt that you moved your head and followed the ball. Try to keep your head still and listen for the bal to drop into the hole. This will hopefully cut down the number of short putts you miss and lower your scores.
I like your swing. You get anywhere from 20-30 more yards with irons and upwards to 50 more yards with driver than I do. I can’t hit a 22 degree hybrid. I can’t hit anything 200 yards or more except which in a while I will hit my driver longer and get close to 200, but not very often. Any swing tips? I can’t seem to get any distance. You seem to hit the ball more solidly than I do. I usually miss hit…fat, thin…slice the driver.
Get a lesson with a good pro and change to a strong grip as soon as you can. This helped me stop the slice (for the most part) and helped me to reach most par 4's in regulation. Thanks for watching :-)
Yes, they are true to size and really good. Just make sure to wear them in properly to avoid blisters. They've definitely been one of my best golf purchases.
This will be unusual for me but I’m going to encourage you to go back to your “new” swing. There are ample reasons: 1) you’ll get more distance-profoundly more; 2) you’ll be able to attack those 180 par 3s with an iron. The shorter shaft will give you more control/accuracy; 3) with length, you’ll have more options for second shots (i.e., “maybe I’ll hit a knock down under the wind). That’s a lot harder to do when your only viable option to hit the green is a 22°. 4) you’re playing well enough for bogey golf but it will be deuce difficult to get much better; 5) the new takeaway will help you develop “flip” wedges that are not CURRENTLY in your repertoire. I understand why you may have misgivings but I really do think it’s how you have more fun with your game in the long run. That’s just my opinion, however.
NOooooo! We're all about non-experts offering opinions these days, so there's mine. It wasn't broke before James. Keep doing what you've been doing, refine it, fine tune it, take it as far as you're able. You've knocked off 16 shots in a year ffs. WHEN you get bored of shooting 84s take on the swing change. Disclaimer:
It’s not given to you James. Nothing wrong with just playing golf. Just don’t say you would like to improve. Changing the swing even a little is incredibly difficult and very uncomfortable.
Don’t agree that you should revert to your new swing at the moment. Winter is definitely the time, when you can work on swing changes and new equipment. Time at the range, not on the course. That round has put a smile back on you face. Why wouldn’t it with greens in regulation, birdie puts and pars. 👍🏌️♂️

The shot to the green on Hole 1 is what you dream of in the night. Well played👏👏
So pleased you have gone back to your natural swing James. This looked so much more enjoyable!!
Outstanding once again! You're new moniker should be "World's Greatest Irons Player " keep it up, James.
Hello James, that birdie needed to be awarded with some magic potion ! 👍👏😄😉
James, you are a real inspiration for me and i have learned a lot from your videos.
Congratulations on topping 1 million views on RUclips

You were pin seeking this day! Nice round!
Lovely birdie on 6. Such a charming course. Interesting layout and the sheep are so cool. ⛳️ 🐑
Your approach play is getting even better James and it was already very good!
Can't blame you for going back to the old swing, it works for you 👍

You don't have to worry about scoring in the summer either, it's a choice we make as golfers whether to count a round or not.
LOVE your journey James. Don't forget, to hit around 80 you need to be hitting 800 balls per week to improve (change) your swing
couldn't agree more !
@@robchisholm2588 maybe not 800 per week !

The swing looks great James. You had a few close putts that would have helped, but still scored well.
1:16… just stop it!! Got some serious game pal 👏🏼👏🏼

you don´t need to have a huge backswing, as long it is wide enough and you clear your hips for rotation in the downswing

Any local rules if hit sheep?
My old club had overhead pylons. Hit them and you get penalty free replay shot.
Nice swing . if you want a bit of a challenge try Upton by cheater golf course beautiful course play in the afternoon it’s £25 pp .

Definitely improving but do you think you’re off 13 off a tough course? Look a bit easy those ones you play.
how do you like those fj's? are they true to size?
Yes, they are true to size and really good. Just make sure to wear them in properly to avoid blisters. They've definitely been one of my best golf purchases.
Nice round James, glad you have reverted your swing to what you feel comfortable with. Do you film these yourself or do you employ staff?
100% agree. That other swing was horrendous. His goal is single I believe. Tighten up around the green and putting and he’s money.
What was your first handicap and how long did it take to get down to 13 ?
First handicap was 27, it took 10 months to reduce to 13. The lessons at the start had the biggest impact on my game. Thanks for watching :-)

he too much of a snowflake gave up after one round lol
goes back to old swing and pars the first hole. Good decision, I’d say.
Swing changes always made me worse. Swing your swing man!
Maybe try and find a instructor that will do subtle changes in ur swing until u get the swing u want. Not do to big of changes
Don't you do 18 hole videos anymore
unsubbed for giving up straight away with swing change
Most are never going to be low handicaps just do what suits your game try to improve from players at your club
