- Road Trip Episode 1. First aired on Cambridge TV on Friday 21st August 2015. Presented by Jess Shanahan.
A video in which I learn to drive off road then test the Kia Sorento, a family car that boasts AWD. I've always been a little sceptical of cars like this but the Sorento does perform as a 4x4, it's not a gimmick!
Please note the grin on my face as I tackle the off road track. I had so much fun filming this. A big thank you to Stephen from Wild Tracks for being a great teacher!
Thank you to Cambridge TV and all the crew. Find out more here www.cambridge-t....
Thank you to Nell Walker for keeping me organised.
Episode 2 coming soon....
After driving Land Rovers, peppered with Toyota Hiluxs for the past 25 years, I can state for the record that nothing beats a ‘proper’ 4x4, with a high and low range gearbox and the ability to lock the diffs. I recently bought a Sorento, and whilst it is a beautifully comfortable and practical vehicle, the AWD capability is not a patch on a Landy.
Agreed. It's nice to see how capable these AWD cars are but they really are no match for the real thing.
Awesome stuff!! Can't wait for Episode 2!!
Downforce Motorsport Thank you! Episode 2 has been shot and will be on your screens in mere weeks.
Really funny. Little family car😅. I have a 2017 Sorento Platinum Edition 2.2 CRDI Automatik. It's a 7seater, but it is just the opposite of a little family car. First I was a little bit afraid to buy such a big car. But it is really easy to drive. For me the towing capacity is the most important. This is about 2 tons and more than enough for my caravan. Travelling long distances this car makes very comfortable. On our German highways I could reach a maximum speed of 205 km/h, but this car is not made for that. Most comfortable speed is about 150. Than the Diesel consume is still low. I'm loving this car a lot.
Greets from Germany
😆 At the time is was absolutely the biggest car I’d driven. Glad you’re enjoying yours!
I have two car (kia).i like it.
No.1
Turbo Diesel manual trans and AWD. That would work for me. I like the Sorento good looking and a great buy. No Diesel option in the states yet.
We always get shafted - they never gave us the Petrol, Nissan Silvia, or Skyline R34.
lol these "4x4" test drives can be easily passed on any 2WD nissan micra with minimal driving skills
This is a shit.. Not a off road test....
This is an embarrassment to the Dynamax AWD system on these Kia Sorento's. Equipped with the proper tires and that goes for any vehicle. And it's locking diff button these vehicles are FAR more capable then this test shows. It can handle 6+in of unplowed snow road, muddy rutted fire roads with ease. Granted it needs higher ground clearance as it's only about 7.3in so you need to know it's limitations. But it's BY FAR more capable then say a Chevy Equinox or Ford Escape which lack a locking diff button.
If we’d had snow in the middle of summer I would’ve totally given that a go!
@@JessShanahan Your sarcasm is noted and not appreciated...(g)
@@tomtalker2000 Haha! I actually wasn't being sarcastic, just silly. I'd genuinely love to test one of these in winter. :)
Sorry, where is the OFF ROAD please?
Wildtracks near Cambridge, UK.
Yeah. Was a bit of a dirt Carpark
You could of done that track in a vauxhall corsa
Agreed. Except maybe that really big hill.
A Picanto could do the same !!!
Thumbs up 😋
Kia vehicle engines are known to only last 78,000 miles. This I'm told from a Kia represenative.
My driveway is rougher than that track. My 1993 Corolla could do it easily!
حلو
Where was the off road bit !
Aren't you the joker!
Thanks
This is a very low test.....
Would be great to have the manual transmission here in the U.S. 😕
Yeah. I don't envy the lack of manual options over there. I did drive a nice manual Corvette there recently though. Although for me, it was a bit strange as I was changing gear with the wrong hand!
Not serento
americans - this little family car ...
They are British, but does'nt matter 😊. I love my 2017 Sorento a lot.
Glad you understood my humour 😆
Suck car
