I learned here that by how smooth the car leaves the rollers, you can somehow predict how it will do in the real world. Just getting off the rollers when 3 wheels have slip isn't good enough to actually get good real world performance, because really small intervals of grip are enough to leave the rollers but not to climb a hill. You'd just be getting back and forth with small inputs. Hope this is understandable😅
I think the 2019 did A LOT better. Both have VERY competent AWD systems. And equipped with the proper tires they can get through just about anything. There only drawback is the 7.3in of ground clearance. However, if you know it's limitations regarding that. It is BY FAR more capable then say a Chevy Equinox or Ford Escape. Both of which don't have a "locking diff" button that the Sorento does.

I had a 2013 Santa Fe Sport and later a 2016 Kia Sorento. I don't think the Santa Fe marketing material ever mentions Magna Dynamax AWD like Kia's does. The Kia did perform better for me. Daily driving was better and it was more fun in the snow.

No question about it. And that's why i LOVE my 2019 Sorento SX AWD V6. Equipped with the proper tires, and knowing it's limitations with only 7.3in of ground clearance. You can get through quite a bit with it's "locking diff" button. Something a Chevy Equinox or Ford Escape would struggle with since they don't have that locking feature.

@@lukaszq1187 but the Q5 has a pneumatic suspension I believe and not sure it's a proper comparison for this kind of test.

Gen 3 Sorento is 2016-2020. Gen 4 is 2021-2022+. I have a 2019 SXL AWD. Prior to that I had a 2015 SXL FWD Gen 2. (Both using the Lambda II 3.3L V6)
