Try a disk or get a smaller sized cup! You shouldn't feel that much discomfort even if you are a virgin (assuming you are).

you can also try a softer cup if your current one is too firm. i personally have no issue with the regular firmness saalt cup, but i also got the soft saalt cup for the days when i'll be more sensitive to cramps.

Just wanted to say to anyone out there not already using one that this is an absolute GAME CHANGER when it comes to periods. I forget I'm even on mine now because it's so comfortable in comparison to pads and tampons. A bit fiddly to use at first and I will confess to having a couple of accidents with leaking and spilling at first but once you've had a bit of practice it will liberate you.

does it leak? or can you safely not wear a liner or pad with it in?

@@TiVi_br87 December 2022, my first time using menstrual cups after doing research and watching a lot of videos about it.
I tried it without my period since when I ordered mine, I was waiting for the month of Dec.
I struggle to insert it, took me a lot of time, and when I figure how to insert it the right way, I am so happy.
Videos here in RUclips really help me a lot. Every problem has a solution.
I only got leak once on my second day trying Menstrual cup. I feel the leak after 6 hours of using the cup ( I am about to change it tho that time )
I found out, I didn't check it if it was fully open inside since I am confident on my first day (even sleep without a leak)
I wear a panty liner for only two days, I didn't worry about leak since I make sure to feel the cups was open inside.
You know that it was open when you insert your finger around the cup.
I make sure to check how much blood I got in hours, so I will know next time when I should take it out.

@@Katherine_inthehouse hm, that was helpful, thank you for responding😁, Im still on the fence about trying it, but I want to. I have found ones with a loop instead of the stick part, and have had a certain one saved in my amazon cart lol. Just another random question but, can you feel it while you are sitting down or anything like that? Like if you sit a certain way do you notice its there?

    • @Katherine_inthehouse
      @Katherine_inthehouse Год назад +8

@@TiVi_br87 At first, I thought I would feel it but I am surprised, even on the first time I inserted it. I feel nothing, so don't worry about it.
I can still reach the end of the cup and it is not bothering me.
But some women says that they feel the (stem? I don't know what they called it haha)
So some of them cut it, but for me, it help me to fix and remove the cup, although, you'll remove it on the cup itself and pinch it, not on the stem (it will make a suction if it was open so it is better to pinch using two finger when you reach the cup.)
It sounds hard but I get it on my first try, I just remember the advice of other women here on RUclips.
I am glad I didn't give up trying it haha it is really a life changer.

(In case anyone is struggling getting the whole cup in) ⬇️
For me the stem doesn’t go all the way in when inserting it, but it does when I stand up (goes back to low when sitting,) and is only barely past the inner lips, and for me it still works perfectly!😄 I probably just have a low cervix but thankfully doesn’t affect the function, just makes inserting a bit more difficult sometimes. *also make sure you have a soft cup if you’re having issues*

Hey, when I inserted period cup i didn't face any problem and i felt really good but when I got up from squatting position the cup started going inside itself (when I inserted it was 2cm out of my inner labia but when I rechecked after 1 minute it was around nail length past my inner labia ) i got really scared and somehow took it out and now it is giving me stress. @@ms.suhani I completely understand your fear trust me, I was constantly checking mine for a while to make sure it wasn’t going anywhere & I know the fear when you’d have to reach in a bit further to get it out😅, but it is normal for the cup to move up a bit when not sitting on the toilet :), your body is just positioned differently, everyone’s cervix is different yours may just be higher than mine so the cup adjusts a bit higher. But not to worry your cervix is what also stops the cup from going anywhere out of reach. If you have a bit of a hard time getting it out each time you can look into longer cups for higher cervix. But there’s nothing to worry about, in the worst case you can squat and push the cup out, after all our bodies are amazing and designed to push out something much larger. The spot in the vagina naturally moves throughout your cycle so there are just days we’re your cup may sit lower or further up than usual, that is okay!:) but if it’s a hassle go for cups built for higher cervix. This Chanel shows a few of them

This is my second time using the cup. Am 20yrs with no sex life. This is my experience and tips
    While inserting
Make sure u have washed both cup and hands.
    1. Sit in squat position, go with punchdown fold
    2. Hold the cup at position at hole with ur right hand and push it in with ur left hand, and make sure u r pushing towards the end of spinal
    3. Don't completely push it inside, push it till the stalk is completely present in ur finger, at this time around 80% will be in, slightly push it in by rotating.
    4. Once u feel the complete cup( without stalk) is inside, leave it. U will hear or feel a pop. Cup pushes itself in by suction force.
Don't try while u r not on ur periods. Use water as lubricant. It will be slightly painful for 1st time only.

Carry a personal lubricant and a backup period product. These are fantastic products, and personal lubricant has been a saving grace in using them. And it's not weird. If we need lubricant for s*x, even with arousal already being a thing, then we definitely need it for cups. No shame in not wanting to give your vag microtears.
And just because, SOMETIMES, the cup doesn't seal properly inside of you, its good to keep something else on hand in the event of an emergency. I have found that over some time, getting it to seal was easier and easier. Just make sure you're pinching the cup to release the seal before you pull it back out.

So here's my experience as a first time user, I have never put anything up my vagina so I was kind of freaking out but I managed to do it. Initially I couldn't really get it in as it was hurting really bad, i tried feeling the way with my finger and after an hour of trying all different angles i finally got it in. I did the punch down fold and pushed it at like 20 to 30 dgree from horizontal. It went in and i felt a pop and it wasn't leaking. I pushed it up just enough that the stem was just inside the vagina and not too up. When taking it out i was freaking out again as it wasn't coming out and i couldn't reach the base of the cup with my fingers. So i tugged the stem a little trying to get it down a bit before putting my fingers on the base and pinching it and slowly getting it out. One thing that helped was i tried to relax as much as possibe and was patient with the process. But unfortunately the next time I tried to put it in it went in super smoothly but i couldn't get it to open up completely. So i took it out and put it back inside a 2 to 3 times but couldn't do it and because of the friction it was hurting . So i gave up for today and used a pad. Will try it again tomorrow. Hope this helps anyone.

Anything but the thing you're trying to do. You can also try clenching like you're trying to stop peeing, so that you can get an idea of what each muscle does down there so to more easily control it. Also if you feel it all the time it could be that is too tall for your cervix, try different brands or even you can try turn it inside out (it makes it shorter), i actually use mine like that cause even when i trimmed the stem i could steel feel it. And yeah relaxation is key, but now you already know that you can be confortable if you are able to relax, maybe try something tiring like doing chores and then a warm shower and then try the cup, and finally some dessert. You'll need that dessert to celebrate that you did it relaxed or you'll need it because of the struggle. Anyways after all that you did you'll deserve it lol

It could probably be due to dryness, or the fold. Try the smallest fold you can make and also lube helps. I already have 2 years using it and some days you need extra moisture no matter the experience, and also i kept using the smallest fold cause is just more comfortable. Also you need to be relaxed and be patient and gentle.

Inserted a cup for the first time the other day and I’d say one major thing to do before you insert the cup is being used to tampons or things inside of you before attempting the cup. I just folded it and wiggled it in. I recommend trying it out when your period is heaviest so it slides in easier. Try it in a mirror or standing up. It’s going to feel weird because of the suction but like tampons you just get used to it. Hope this helped anyone who’s feeling uncomfortable about trying it :)

19 y/o 2nd day of period (BLOODBATH) I've binged many of your guide videos and finally I tried today for the first time. I tried to do the punch down fold but it wasn't going in at all ! I feel like my cup is more on the firmer side because it tends to unfold real quick so I tried the double diamond fold. I almost got it inside, only the base and stem was left. I was in excruciating pain so I decided to get it out and give my walls some rest. My vagina doesn't hurt anymore but my lips does. I don't want to give up just yet.
It'd be really appreciated if you can help me through this question
    1. Can I gently screw the cup in ?
    2. What shall I do when the cup unfolds before I insert all of it inside ?
    3. Is it normal to experience pain to some degree while insertion or does it not hurt at all ? (I want to know this so that I know what's normal and what's not)
    4. I could easily insert my middle finger up there with a little discomfort but I could insert 3/4 of my finger easily without feeling my cervix, I could have tried inserting it all but I got scared and got my bloody finger out, I did that to guide my cup but when I narrowed the diameter and tried to insert it in the same direction as my finger but that's exactly when I started to experience excruciating pain and had to get the entire thing out. I cannot pinpoint if it's my wall that's contracting or I reached the cervix.

I get some discomfort when putting it in but not pain, you might need a little bit of water based lubrication to get it in especially if your getting a lot of discomfort in your lips, you might also need a softer cup firmer cups are generally harder to get used to and if it's your first cup that's a pretty serious barrier to overcome I use a diva cup and it's been relatively easy personally if I get the cup almost all the way in and just a tiny bit is still out I will try to get it the rest of the way in but if half or more is still not in I will take it out completely and try again.

I am a ver environmental conscious person and really want to use a cup. So I purchase one. It was Libresse brand size L because I have a really heavy flow. I was laying down on my back and incerdet the cup. IT GOT STUCK! I tried everything, relaxing, squatting, tried to reach it bit I simply couldn't. I ended up having to go to the doctor the next day. Turns out that my vaginal canal is very narrow and long so the doctor had to use scissors to puncture the cup and some tools to get it out. It was terrifying and I'm k8nda sad about the fact that I physically cannot use cups because they will get stuck 😅

You would think it would be awful. But what's really awful is the painful dryness that comes from tampons and the diaper waddle that comes with pads (when you have a heavy flow you can't get away with those sporty little tissue paper pads)
      ...
Plus the watertight seal means no smell gets out, and since there's no cotton, there's no strange odors wafting up when it comes time to change...

    • @nebullae
      @nebullae 2 года назад +16

what's creepy about it...? if you use tampons, you do know that the tampon expands inside of you once inserted, right? assuming you're not a kid, hopefully you already know that most women aren't super duper tiny "down there"; you have ample space for a cup. if you're genuinely on the smaller side, many companies make smaller/mini sized cups.
personally, i think cups are the most hygienic and safe option out of them all (pads, tampons, period underwear, etc). you sanitize the cup thoroughly before use, it's extremely effective when properly inserted and vacuum-sealed, and carries less risk of infection than pads/tampons. they're also WAY cheaper than constantly buying disposable period products. a large box of tampons for me was around $15 (which could probably last me for ~4 months max) and if we generously ignore the costs of extra products like night pads, pantyliners, etc... the cost of my saalt cup ($29) is already paid with two boxes of tampons. i'd highly encourage people to be open-minded about period cups if they want to at least save their money, instead of reacting childishly and remain ill-informed.

@@aunibon Great for you if pads work for you, because no one is holding a gun to your head to try one! In fact, it's probably for the best if you love pad to never try a menstrual cup. After trying a cup, I have not been able to go back to the odor of decomposing blood and the constant feeling of wearing and changing a half-diaper. I didn't even notice how bad it was until I tried a cup.

When going to the store, bring like $25-35. Tell your mom like "I'm gonna see the soaps" or something far away from her. Find a cup that you'd like and go to a self checkout and get one for you. Hide it in your jacket to where she can't see it or before you get out of the car, leave the window open by about 1.5 inches so you can slide it in there. I'm so sorry your mom isn't letting you have a comfortable period.

Hello! I would say, do what the lady suggests and insert it first before your period, with the help of lube. If you struggle with it, being on your period will only make it worse as your fingers etc can get covered in blood. That's what happened to me. Also best to do it in the shower or standing up in a bath, hot water helps keep you relaxed

@@Katherine_inthehouse I'm so glad you got it right and that you're excited for your period!! In the beginning it is something to get used to, I'm still not very good with it either.
I think if you check that the cup is more or less upright in there, and it feels like it opened up completely, it should have no leaks. If you pull on it a little bit and it feels like it doesn't move, it's suctioned to the walls in there so you should be fine. Good luck!!

It is my second day of using menstrual cups today and I think I am doing just fine.
On my first day, I don't have any problem about leaking but having a problem removing without spilling it.
But on my second day, I remember the advice of women here and finally removing it without spills.
But just recently, almost 8 hours after I insert my cup. I got a leak, so I applied the tips and advice again. It really helps me a lot.
I can't believe how I manage this so well haha. I was planning to convince other women to try menstrual cups.
sadly, when mentioning it, I feel sad how people here don't even heard about it or had some weird reaction
