First time using a menstrual disc, it took me a while to be able to successfully get it in with practice and this video definitely helped. I want to reiterate some stuff that was said as well as some stuff I myself found helpful: 1. When they say you shouldn't feel the disc inside you, they really mean it! At first I thought that I had it in as far as I could, but i still felt a pinch when standing up. You really want to push it back more until you stop feeling a stinging sensation. 2. This is going to sound odd, but if you feel like you are about to poop, keep pushing the disc back as that indicates you are getting closer to the back. 3. When squeezing the disc to make a figure 8, i use my thumb and pointer finger together to squeeze the disc (literally an 👌 held sideways towards the vagina). I do a squeeze on the disc while pushing it in and as i insert more of the disc with increments, I will eventually feel the outside of the back rim. Push in the back rim holding your pointer and index against the back rim until you feel a narrow hole or until only your pointer finger could only fit into the hole. 4. A good way to figure out if the disc is all the way in is by feeling underneath you're butt around where you feel a hard bone. Trail your finger towards your vagina and gently stroke up and down along the squishy parts outside. If you don't feel the rim, you got it!
Your comment helped me so much! I have a high cervix but a pronounced pubic bone, so the cup was securely tucked without leaking but I still kinda ~felt~ it as if it was pushing against my butt so going deeper felt counterintuitive. But now that I pushed it in further, I realised that I don't feel the cup at all and that it was probably pushing against that little rim between vagina and asscrack lol. You saved me!
This helped me so much! My Hello disc was leaking (only my 2nd cycle using it), but I guess I need to “scoop”! It felt way different when I inserted it when I scooped. And also inserting the disc until you can’t go any further before tucking it was a most excellent tip. I am no longer discouraged. Thank you so much!!
After years of using single use Flex menstral disc, I finally took the leap to getting the Flex reusable disc. There was a bit of a learning curve to the reusable and this video really helped.
I'm currently using the Hello Disc for the first time and it's my first disc after using a cup for years (and having issues for the last few months). I'm loving it, it makes my period a much better experience, it's a total game changer. It's super easy to insert (thanks to this video), I don't feel it at all and the auto-dumping makes my life so much easier (I have a very heavy period). Thank you so much for all the great videos, Kim, you have made such a difference in my life.
I am trying a disc for the first time today after being so annoyed with pad and tampon leakage. This video helped me with insertion and evidently I have a pronounced pubic bone because it sort of clicked in. Fingers crossed that this will make my life easier.
I pushed my flex as far back as I could and was trying to figure how to tuck it and then it was like "click" 😂 I was like alrighty...ummmm now how the heck am I getting it out? Lol
I got to practice with the disposable flex disc on my last cycle. It was significantly easier to insert/remove than I thought it would be. Even easier than the cup I normally use! Definitely gonna look into investing in a reusable option.
If you're in the US and use CVS at all they have a subscription, they also email discounts (Their emailed %40 off works on flex products) I've gotten that email a couple times and used them to get my flex products!
I currently have some disposable ones that I picked up 'just to try' and I took one out of the package and looked at the directions and tried to insert it and immediately got overwhelmed but, I'm actually pretty sure I put it in correctly, but then I got scared and immediately tried to take it out. I really wanna give them another try my next cycle.
@@sewdivine7036 what's the best position for insertion in your opinion because I was just crouching down in my room and not sure if that was the best way
I bought the flex disc disposable by chance and I love it. I watched your videos to learn how to insert it and understand the correct ways of use. This is my first cycle in over 20 years that I had no pain or discomfort. I did not feel anything. I thought the disc were pricey after using them I felt they’re worth it. I also invested in the lumma. Thank you so much for this page
This was really helpful! I started using Flex disposable plant-based discs just to try before committing to a reusable disc and I love how they feel. Using a disc is simpler and more comfortable than when I used a cup. I really want to continue using a disc but noticed some days I experience leaking and was worried about the positioning of my uterus. After watching this video, I learned the factors to consider, like diameter sizes and pushing high enough past the pubic bone, so I will continue this trial-and-error journey! Thank you for educating us!!
Honestly.. thankyou for this video! I have been no stranger to reusable products and cups for years. But since the birth of my daughter cups are no longer comfortable and I have bought a menstrual disc (ziggy disc) . No matter what I did or how I inserted it though, it would leak. At the end of my wits, I have come to your channel and this video has saved me. I haven't had a single leak in the past 2 days since I first watched your video. You are a saviour, Thankyou!!!! 😊
I have exact same problem, my cup doesnt work like it used to after three births.. i also bought a ziggy disc, but its sliding out.. i hope i can get it positioned right
Menstrual discs are the only thing helping me keep my sanity during this wild ride of perimenopause periods. I keep 3 different ones in rotation (Saalt, Moonthlies, and Lumma) and it has been incredible. Wish these had been around since the beginning of the reusable internal use menstrual product era. I had very little success with menstrual cups, and I tried about 8 different brands and 3 different sizes.
The flex discs were always too big for me but once I got the Saalt small disc that’s reusable, I was in love. I forget I’m on my period and I can wear it for the entirety of my 12 hour shifts. Plus when it gets too full, it auto dumps while I’m in the bathroom and at first I get scared, but then everything is perfectly fine again and no leaking at all.
I'm wondering if thats my issue too. I've been sitting for 20 min trying to get the flex disk in. ....that's uh....why I'm here looking for a video to help 😂😂
I tried the saalt disc and found that it seems to like "bunch up" in front of my cervix and blood was just going around it. But determined to make a disc work i decided to try bending down in the shower to insert, made the angle toward my lower back easier to get. I will crouch now a little if in bathroom and it works much better!! Seems to dip under the cervix better if the cervix is at a lower point that day. And haven't had any leakage since, now can use the disc or my cup on my cycle!
This was incredibly helpful!!! I tried my Nixit last month and couldn’t figure it out, I almost gave up! However after watching this I decided to give it another try and quite certain I’ve had success, hopefully I’ve tucked it probably with no leaks 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Hello there!! I have just purchased a Hello Disc and now I’m researching more videos about discs ❤ Super excited for it to arrive, hopefully don’t have to worry about pads again!!
I just came back to this video to thank you. After some years with a cup I wanted to try a disc. But when I had it in, it always leaked. A lot. I was so disappointed and close to giving up on discs. I tried to get it deeper in, it was uncomfortable, it just didn't work. After watching your video I tried going towards my tailbone instead of upwards. And hurrah, it worked! 🥳 I'm so happy, this is much more comfortable for me, because I don't have the opportunity to clean the device in a sink when I'm at work. Now the disc empties a bit when I'm on the toilet and I can clean it comfortably when I'm at home. Thank you for showing the insertion so detailed and for explaining everything that we could do wrong ☺️ you saved my disc-experience and helped me to a more relaxed period 😊
Thank you very much for sharing all your knowledge, I'm from Mexico and sometimes it's hard to find information, so your channel has been a great help, thanks to you, I love the menstrual disc, I send you a big hug!!!
This is super helpful. My cervix is 40-45 mm during my period and while the average sized discs fit fine, I do have to do the scoop method because it’s also tilted towards the back. My biggest issue is with removal, they always catch on my cervix and take some working to get it out. Plus it can be painful. I really have to angle down (and dump all the contents on my hand!) to get it off my cervix so I can pull it out. This is only for the first couple days while it’s really low though.
That's the first time I've ever seen tilted cervix addressed in a period product video. I've been struggling with leaking cups and I have been told that I have a tilted cervix. I just ordered the hello disk. I'm hoping it'll work without leaking. 😬
Great video. Very informative. I appreciate the visual dotted line to represent the “scooping” motion. That’s exactly what I do to insert my Hello Disc. The advice about tucking the disc behind the pubic bone is super important and helped me with inserting. I shove my entire thumb to tuck my disc behind my pubic bone or else it won’t work lol. Having the tab gives me peace of mind knowing it can never get lost and I can easily take it out - it was also a great way for me to learn about my vagina and not feel so scared to explore when inserting a disc and cup.
Thanks for the great content! So glad to see this uploaded just in time for my first period using the hello disc. I had no clue what I was doing, but this video helped so much! Very thorough, and explained every question I had
I've enlisted the help of a 3d modeler and printer who has designed an incredible uterus that will make this model so helpful. They learned I needed some help finishing the model via Tiktok and have been so generous with their expertise and time. I can't wait to receive the uterus!
I completely agree. The idea of human anatomy freaks me out completely and most videos with an accurate models actually make me a little queasy. Seeing the model actually helped me visualize what I was supposed to be doing without making me think too hard about the anatomical stuff that otherwise causes me to panic
I just wanted to come on here and thank you so so much for all these videos! I had just bought a nixit disc and didn’t have time to practice prior my period because it came early and I just couldn’t get it right (leaking, constant readjusting to the point that my muscles down there were feeling a bit sore and fatigued) I was looking for some sort of guidance and stumbled upon this - now on day 2 of trying and it’s gone more smoothly with no leaks! Thank you
I had a Saalt menstrual cup. It was LOADS better than tampons or pads, but I’m not happy still. I have a super high cervix, and it felt like my body kinda “ate” the cup. I had a beast of a time getting it out. The last time I used it I was crying and struggling for almost an hour… Just ordered the hello disk and I hope it works better!
@@lindacruz5074 The pull tab worked great. So as far as that goes it was good. I’m still struggling with disk part of it. It’s really hard for me to insert and use properly.
You look so much like Laura Pepon! I kept watching videos and you got me to switch to cups. 1st cycle here and doing great! 32, low cervix, never pregnant (our sons adoption finalized in May!!), Saalt cup 1. I did cut the stem about half off but after troubleshooting with your channel I got it right! Thanks!!!
Honestly the angling is a good thing to keep in mind. I've tried tampons and I could never get them in without feeling like I was bruising my insides. I thought I was doing the angle alright because my mom did tell me not to do it directly up, but I think I still had it angled too high. I might try with a tampon again but I really like the idea of a reusable product. Cups scare me, because while I don't have anything that could be pulled out from the suction, the idea of it getting suctioned sounds incredibly uncomfortable and scary. The disc still seems a bit intimidating but I actually wanna try it. I don't know if I have a high or low cervix but I think I'll get one with a string type thing just in case...for that comfort. Having that would make me feel better about pushing it in further.
this was helpful however after trying 2 menstrual cups and 2 disks, I am tired of spending money on something that doesn't work for me, it would be nice if someone would just say that those things don't work for everyone! I ended up sending so much money for something I was believing it was sustainable and never had any refund. I must say I always had terrible experiences with it, sadly I have to go back to pads and tampon.
The company was really supportive in giving me a refund of the products that didn't work for me. I want to note I tried period underwear that was supposed to be super absorption for heavy flow. It did not work for me. I received a full refund.
So I used to leak when I first started using disc. I mean horrible… it took me 3 cycles to figure out what I was doing wrong and it was that I wasn’t aiming toward my tailbone or like Kim said down towards your butt. For me that was the key. Once I figured that out i have had zero leak. So i insert down towards my butt, when I have just a little bit of the disc sticking out, I push it in while at the same time pushing up so it can tuck. To make sure that i did it right I like to check with my finger down where my tailbone is, and if I feel the rim of the disc around my tailbone , then I know that its in the right place and tucked. I sometimes push a little to make sure it doesn’t easily slip down, because if it does then its not tucked. But for sure this is what helped me. Aim for your butt and then push up 😉
I found the same thing with the saalt disc. Used cups forever and when I couldn't get my saalt disc right I was like what the hell am I doing wrong lol I bent down in the shower one day and really pushed it to my tailbone or lower back the pushed the rim up behind the public bone. Never got a leak after that. So now in the bathroom I kinda crouch so I can aim it right. Before it seemed like it was getting caught in front of my cervix and blood was just going around the disc! 100% works way better now. I feel like not aiming low enough is what we are all fighting with at first haha and thinking we can't work a disc right haha
I've used menstrual cup for many years, but it was only two years ago when I first heard of the disc. When I got my first (and really only model I've ever seen) disc, I was really excited with the possibility of wearing it during intercourse. However, I was never able to use my menstrual disc properly, except for two or three times, and when this happened it was almost imposible to take it off afterwords, reason why I stop using it and stick to the menstrual cup. But I never knew the exactly reason why I struggle so much with the menstrual disc, whether it was slipping down, or it was folded in a odd way. Now seeing this video I understand that's probably due two factors: high cervix and retroverted uterus. Well, it seems like it's definitely not the best choice for me, but it was great to know the proper way to insert it. I'll give it a few more trys before giving up for good. 😅
I really like the new finder! Great addition! I’m two periods in with my cup and looking at the Hello Disc. Seems like most of the disc “cons” are things I experience with my cup (probably not the best size and firmness for me). I was a little wary about managing to get the disc positioned correctly-this video helped with that. I’m still concerned about comfort during extraction, though. A wide disc coming out unfolded… I’d like to hear more about that experience.
Are you worried about pain or anything else? I do agree that the visualization of removal could seem scary, but when it actually happens, I find my vagina still kind off "squishing" the disc so it's not as wide as its default shape.
Personally it doesn’t have enough room in the vaginal canal to come out whole. When you pull it out it squeezes back to a smaller size but once it’s at the opening about to come out, I find that I have to be extra careful because it will just slide right out and it can get messy but with time you learn the best way for you to remove that’s not as messy or scary ☺️
I’ve tried the kind cup. It was uncomfortable and I still leaked with it in. I tried the salt disc small which kind of doesn’t count because I believe it wasn’t the right size for me. I tried the flex disc, leaked right past it. I was about to give up until I used the Hello disc ❤. I’m so happy I purchased it. It’s comfortable and I love the looped tab for easy removal.
I just recently found your channel when I recently revisited the menstrual cup world and discovered they finally have made reusable discs (YAY)! I used discs MANY years ago when they only came in disposable cups (like 20+ years ago) because I struggled with cups; however, they were HUGE, so not very comfortable, but they WORKED. My issue with cups was I could never get a seal, were usually uncomfortable and they always leaked (I'm one of those special unicorns that have a low cervix AND a heavy flow - yay me! 😆). I recently revisited the menstrual cup world because I've recently run into supply issues with my tried and true brand/size of tampons - not sure what that's about as I had no issues during the pandemic, but it is what it is. I just want to say a BIG THANK YOU for all the information on your channel as well as I wholeheartedly appreciate your candor when making these videos. You hold nothing back which is GREAT; so refreshing and SO very helpful. Thanks again! You were instrumental in helping me choose my new discs.
I find this interesting because I have no "get up in there" pelvic shelf. There is barely one there and it keeps slipping. But there is nowhere higher to go.
I have the flex disc and have had issues with it leaking. I just got the hello disc and plan to use it my next cycle so here's hoping it solves the leaking issue
I’ve been using the flex reusable disc and I keep having the leaking problem too! I thought maybe it was too big so i went and got a saalt small disc… it didn’t hold anything 🤣🤣 so it’s not the size… Did the hello disc work better for you??
@@ursisfatima9675 yes. The "stiffer" basket solved the leaking issue but my husband can feel it during intimacy so for sexy times I will still put in the flex for his comfort but for "everyday" wear the hello is my go to. Plus the ring for one finger removal makes it SO MUCH CLEANER and nicer and the rim isn't as stiff as the flex so you don't have to bear down as hard to autodump
Are the 3D models “actual size”? (Or average size)? I have had trouble in the past, but I want to try again. How low does the loop hang down? (I have short fingers).
I’ve been successfully using a menstrual cup for around twelve years, but it just recently started sliding down when full and causing a lot of pain from just hanging out in my v@ginal entrance where it’s not supposed to be. I finally got sick of this happening and bought myself a disc. This is my first period with it, and your videos have been an absolute boon in helping me figure everything out. I still have one question, though: How do I prevent involuntarily auto-dumping whenever I sneeze or cough or basically use my abdominal muscles in any way? I’m pretty sure I have the disc tucked properly, because as long as I don’t do any of these things, the disc works fine. But I’m having to try to not use my core at all, which is obviously unrealistic. Thank you!
How far in is too far? I got to my pubic bone but tried to push in further and it wouldn't go more in and I can't reach further. Am I supposed to feel the top rim with my finger or only the below rim. First timer here! Using the CORE disc.
Something I noticed is that the material of the disc may even influence how it stays in your body. I tried the Lumma High and Medium sizes. Both slipped out of place and leaked everywhere super easily. Bummer, I know. But then I tried the Cora and Hello, and they worked a lot better. Now, I’m just assuming that it’s the material since the Cora and Hello have a softer silicone and Lumma’s is tacky, but idk
I have a very stupid question.... how do you use this if you have long nails? are the ones with a stem easy to take out without scooping around too much? I would like to buy a disk but I usually wear long (not insanely long, just long) acrylic nails...
I go in there with my index and thumb… I pull it down with my thumb and then pinch it with my index and pull it out… very messy but I think it’s messy no matter how you pull it out
I’m having an issue with my hello disc leaking 😔 I really just want this to work!! My cups were leaking too so I thought I would try the disc…but apparently that wasn’t the issue, I’ve been a cup user for over 8 years.
Same issue here. I used flex cup, leaking quite a bit so I switched over to disc. Better than a cup but still leaking, I have to wear liner. I pushed it in all the way but but still… so annoying… going to used differently brand.
Can you still feel the ridges on the nixit when it's tucked? I can and I don't know if that means it's not tucked high enough? However, it really won't stay tucked super high. I have a high cervix though, so it shouldn't be too big.... It just won't tuck very high.
Any advice for those of us with Vaginismus and have a hard time shoving stuff up there? I always end up frustrated and in tears after trying for up to an hour. Don’t want to be stuck with stinky pads and toxic tampons!
It literally does NOT stay tucked behind the pubic bone, in any way shape or form for me. Idk if I’m doing something wrong but it hurts. Then once it feels like it doesn’t t hurt anymore, it just untucks and starts sliding out. It’s horrible. I want it to work for me so bad but now I’m starting to think my anatomy is the problem. Maybe it’s too big and I need a smaller one.
I had a really heavy period recently and I was very swollen and tender in my vag. The area near the pelvic bone where you tuck the disc was especially swollen and for the life of me I could not get the disc to tuck. I have been trying flex and soft disc, and in the middle of my cycle received the reusable flex. I didn't get to use the reusable, and I had an easier time with the soft disc. I actually used the side to side method to get it to fit. Now I'm worried I need to get a smaller diameter disc for when I'm that heavy and tender.
I have had 5 cycles with discs and it leaks every.single.cycle at some point! Why? I insert it at the angle you said, I go allll the way as far as it will go, I tuck it. I can go up to 12 hours without any leaks. Sometimes, though, it will leak out of the blue even though it is not nearly half full and it had been there in place for hours!!!!! Can you solve this mystery???? Ps. I have used a variety of brands and they have all leaked, so I don’t think it’s a disc size issue.
Edit: I learned I have a prolapsed pelvic floor that needs surgery. It wasn't the cups/discs fault. All the discs I've tried pop out 😭 cups slide out of me. I hate pads. Tampons hurt. I hate period underwear. I hate my period 😭
Yeah my disc pops out the moment it gets heavy with blood because my pubic bone is too shallow to hold it back. But cups work like magic for me. I don't think discs are very comfortable.
Hi, thanks for the video. How do I do the scooping method. i push it back and a little down and will it than go up by itself? I mean I can't control it, or can I?
Sorry i have questions regarding the use of a menstrual disc and idk who to ask so if you, or any other watcher of this channel, can answer me, it would help me so much. I watched all your videos as I was looking for a cheaper and environmentally friendly alternative to tampons, so i decided to buy a menstrual disc. I took your website’s test when choosing the disc and used your tutorials when inserting it, but i have only one issue, and i don’t see anybody talking ab it so idk what to do So I bought the lumma disc size S, & i inserted it correctly, because i checked and i tucked it properly behind the pubic bone, my cervix is inside it (i checked), i touched all the borders and its in place, the problem is the round part/“cup” part thats underneath the rim/border, it doesn’t open properly in the round shape, its like folded in itself a bit. This is my third change during this period, each time i tried with my finger to get it to open more, but it’s like when i create the eight shape during insertion, the cup part folds itself towards the inside following the eight shape i fold it in, and when i have put it in, it doesn’t expand/unfolds itself properly because the walls of the vagina from underneath kinda keep that space not “deep” enough and push it in itself. The only part that unfolds & permits the blood to be contained, is the part that has the vaginal canal below so there is no vaginal wall stopping it. I thought, as the blood would pour in, the weight of the blood would help the disc take the same shape it has when its outside the vagina, and therefore permit the full capacity of it, but it didn’t and instead the blood started getting out when the capacity of the “punched-in” (sorry idk in what way to describe it) shape was finished. I think it didnt even reach 1/3 of the capacity it’s supposed to have. Even from watching the video tutorials, it seems as if the vagina walls would shape themselves around the form of the disc, instead in my case it seems as if the walls and the insertion process are shaping the disc. So… anybody has any tips? Did i make a mistake in inserting it? Do i have the wrong size/disc and maybe another size, brand or type of disc would have fit me better? Also to give further context. I am a virgin, 21 years old, first time menstrual disc user and never used a menstrual cup, usually i use tampons, medium height cervix and i don’t have a tilted cervix. My flow is considered medium or light. The diameter/circumference of the lumma disc S seems to fit me as I comfortably tucked it behind the pubic bone and behind the cervix, the rim itself adhered well to the vagina walls, after each use i had to untuck the disc from behind the pubic bone so i dont think the issue was it slipped in my vaginal canal. Also i have been working in a standing position during the use, so it cannot be possible that the spill was caused by auto-dumping happening. It is also not a small spill, i had the disc in for 10 hours (the capacity is supposed to be 12 hours) & i had put a pad for safety reasons and the pad ended up full, so that’s a lot of blood that wasn’t contained. The disc wasnt even 1/5 full due to the folds. And my flow is not heavy, I usually change a tampon/pad every 8-10 hours during my heaviest day. I’m so confused if this is normal, and for discs, capacity-wise, i have to take into consideration the anatomy and depth of the upper part of the vagina where the disc sits…. or if instead the disc is supposed to unfold into its proper form…. somebody help plsss idk anybody irl who uses a disc so i cannot ask anybody around me! & sorry for the massive TMIs and detailed descriptions
I am currently using lunette cup, and i like it, However the suction is something which make is not comfortable to remove. I want to try a disc. Which one would be a similar softness to luna? I couldnt use harder cups like organiccup Thanks!
I have a very stupid question. I am using a cup right now and it works okay but because I am quite a heavy bleeder I was thinking about using a disc. My only problem is: I am afraid I won’t be able to put it where it belongs. I feel like my arms are too short or I am just too fat, even inserting my finger is a problem for me. Will I even be able to do that last push upwards? Or is there a better technique I could try?
You mentioned that we should be able to wear the disc all day if we aren't heavy bleeders. I am going to try the tip you mentioned of aiming for the tailbone because maybe I'm still doing it wrong for my anatomy. I do wonder how long going between emptying the disc is normal for a heavy bleeder? I can't go more than 2 hrs without needing to empty my disc or I start leaking. Should I be able to get more than that?
I didn't think I had a very heavy flow. I was surprised I had to empty the disc more often than I expected. For my first two days I have emptied it every 4 hours and I have avoided leaks. I'm going to test in a future cycle if I can push to 5 hours, because I know when I first successfully put in my disc, I had leaks during the 5-6 hour mark. After my first 2 days, my flow significantly decreases and I'm able to change it every 12 hours until I no longer need it. If it takes you 2 hours to go without leaks, then your flow is heavier than mine. I switched to discs because I wanted to wear them for 12 hours. Even though I can't, I am so far preferring it over pads.
When you empty it, is it full? The cup/disc capacity decreases slightly when it's folded. I'd say check when a super tampon (9-12g) leaks for you. And compare when the disc leaks. Then you'll know if it's leaking because it's full of is leaking because it's not inserted properly. Just an hypothesis I think maybe the capacity reduces to 3- 4/5th when squished in the body.
Ugh! I think I am putting it in right and I still get massive leaks sometimes! Is there anyway to prevent unwanted autodumps or is the desc not for me?
should the disc open fully? mine doesn't, so it doesn't reach its full capacity - i'm not sure if it's supposed to be like the at or if i haven't got the right size.
I have the lumi disc and I also now have the Nuva ring birth control.. I’m concerned about it (the ring) being pulled out in tandem with the disc. Any advice is appreciated
I used Nuva ring as well- you don’t keep the nuva ring in during your period, so you shouldn’t have overlap wearing the nuva ring and a menstrual cup/disc at the same time. Talk to your doc or pharmacist. I did 3 weeks nuva ring, one week no nuva ring during my period. Never got pregnant til I wanted to.
I switched to disc today and your video helped me to insert it properly. I could feel my pubic bone n have tucked it there. Note just waiting for 5-6 hrs , hopefully no leak, fingers crossed,,, tbh it was very easy than cup 😅
I just ordered myself 3 smaller disc praying I can get the nixit to fully work to in time one disc in black with bag was shipped around 12 am two more to ship orange and rainbow all in.small as the nixit is one size and pretty big lol if I can't get it to work got back up coming lol but got period underwear and cups so lol 😀 😉 think it will just be more practice then cups wear as iv seen lol
I don’t have a mom or any family to teach me these things, I appreciate you taking the time to teach strangers ❤
First time using a menstrual disc, it took me a while to be able to successfully get it in with practice and this video definitely helped. I want to reiterate some stuff that was said as well as some stuff I myself found helpful:
The pelvic bone as a reference is really helpful .
@@yuluisasantana2435this was helpful. Thanks ❤
The mesh model you made has been the single most useful demonstration of insertion I've seen. Thank you!
Yes! Humans aren’t made of hard plastic 😂
Oh you're lucky lol it probably worked pretty good for you huh? I never know if it's in place lol
I pushed my flex as far back as I could and was trying to figure how to tuck it and then it was like "click" 😂 I was like alrighty...ummmm now how the heck am I getting it out? Lol
@@Ernarox I have a pronounced pubic bone so I really don't know what a *cklick* is supposed to feel like lol. It's always tucked for me
I got to practice with the disposable flex disc on my last cycle.

Was it easy to get them tucked in all the way because I feel like it's not and they leak for me so badly
You're the best! I'm just starting on this at 33 and there's a lot of learning to do.
Omg same.
I’m 33 same here lol😂
Yay! 33 club!
30 years old here😂
I came to find this video because I just inserted my Diva disc for the first time and it seemed too easy!
Thanks for the great video, Kim
The flex discs were always too big for me but once I got the Saalt small disc that’s reusable, I was in love. I forget I’m on my period and I can wear it for the entirety of my 12 hour shifts. Plus when it gets too full, it auto dumps while I’m in the bathroom and at first I get scared, but then everything is perfectly fine again and no leaking at all.
oh my i need to try out the saalt small! I tried the regular but it was waaaay too big for me, i didn't even notice they had a smaller one
I'm wondering if thats my issue too. I've been sitting for 20 min trying to get the flex disk in. ....that's uh....why I'm here looking for a video to help 😂😂
@@high.risk.behavior same I get the flex disk in… but it leeeeeeeaks like crazy sometimes. Sometimes it’s a dream. But I hate when it’s a nightmare.
Thanks for this comment. I got scared that mine was leaking when I went to the bathroom. I didn’t know it auto dumped
What do you mean by "auto dump" ?
Kim, please also show us different positions in which we can try when inserting the disc (sitting on the toilet, one leg up, etc)
I'm so happy, this is much more comfortable for me, because I don't have the opportunity to clean the device in a sink when I'm at work. Now the disc empties a bit when I'm on the toilet and I can clean it comfortably when I'm at home.
Thank you for showing the insertion so detailed and for explaining everything that we could do wrong ☺️ you saved my disc-experience and helped me to a more relaxed period 😊
There's definitely been a learning curve for me! Sometimes I think I've got it and other times I don't!
Same! I'm so happy she included that part in the video.
Does removal hurt?
Nope! I gently pull the tab to remove the disc. No pain inserting it either
Thank you for talking so candidly about this (using the models was what I was looking to see)! This is everything I needed to hear!
Thanks for the great content! So glad to see this uploaded just in time for my first period using the hello disc. I had no clue what I was doing, but this video helped so much! Very thorough, and explained every question I had
Wow that's a great model you made (13:25). A lot of other models don't show the true elasticity, the mesh visual was very useful.
Trust me discs are best options for heavy periods and I am 17 I can insert and Remove easily. Auto dumping is one of my favourite feature about disc
Thank you! Just followed this video for my first disc and it has been so so helpful. You have a fan in the UK!
Hi Nicole, did it work? The Hellos disc?
@@lindacruz5074 The pull tab worked great. So as far as that goes it was good. I’m still struggling with disk part of it. It’s really hard for me to insert and use properly.
@@kittylover177 thank you for responding! And sorry to hear that too! Hopefully you won't struggle too much soon!
You have to bear down dear girl
You'll never get suctioned if you pinch the cup when removing lol
@@greenflower360 ...you know that makes sense. Lol
Idk why that didn't occur to me
@@greenflower360I feel the suction all day.
this was helpful however after trying 2 menstrual cups and 2 disks, I am tired of spending money on something that doesn't work for me, it would be nice if someone would just say that those things don't work for everyone!
Have you tried period panties?? Rif makes a great one that’s PFA free and my fav sustainable option plus so comfortable
Aim for your butt and then push up 😉
Which brand do you use?
I have tried Cora and Hello Disc. Hands down Hello disc is my preference because its way easier to take out.
Please someone more knowledgable correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think discs surround the tailbone in any way.
“Aim for the butt, then push up”
I love this. 😂
Thank you! I just bought the disposables to test them. I could not find a video that talked about tilted cervixes.
Flex disc is the best. I’m never going back!!
I bought my first hello disc and I’m so glad you have such amazing resources!!
@@Phoenix_DarkMoon thank you so much for responding! I’m convinced! I’m going to order it!

Extremely helpful. I'm new to using Disc
Thank you so much! It was really helpful to see you do the demonstration with many different brands.
Are the 3D models “actual size”? (Or average size)? I have had trouble in the past, but I want to try again. How low does the loop hang down? (I have short fingers).
The vaginal canals have to be wider than a real vagina since plastic does not expand like vaginal tissue. Otherwise the scale is pretty spot on.
Same here, although I’m using a diff brand. The leaks are not as bad as when I was using the cup though.
Yes, the leaking is better than with cups for me but still not 100% leak free. Unsure what I'm messing up
I’m leaking also but mainly when using the bathroom like 3 hours in. It’s so annoying.
Awesome content. Loving he detail and the visuals. So helpful!!
Any advice for those of us with Vaginismus and have a hard time shoving stuff up there? I always end up frustrated and in tears after trying for up to an hour. Don’t want to be stuck with stinky pads and toxic tampons!
I had tried a disposable flex disc, but I couldn’t get it to tuck. I felt around, and I don’t feel a “shelf” at all
It literally does NOT stay tucked behind the pubic bone, in any way shape or form for me.
Thank you so much! This has been really helpful!
Thanks for the advice of the pelvis bone! 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾it works better😮💨
THANK YOU for this video! It has helped me soooooo much!!!!
Thank you for all your content. It’s
SO helpful.
Can you please review Shordy products?? Including the cups and discs? Thanks ❤
Best video I've seen
Best explaining video. Thank you for sharing 🙏
This video is a godsend

This was super helpful!!!!
Edit: I learned I have a prolapsed pelvic floor that needs surgery. It wasn't the cups/discs fault.

@@abbystephens9766 I do.
Yeah my disc pops out the moment it gets heavy with blood because my pubic bone is too shallow to hold it back. But cups work like magic for me. I don't think discs are very comfortable.

I love my hello disc i bought on your website. I would love to leave a review but don’t know where!
Hi, thanks for the video. How do I do the scooping method. i push it back and a little down and will it than go up by itself? I mean I can't control it, or can I?
OMG I’ve tried everything, so many different kinds and they are all different too, my question is are we inserting it like we would insert a tampon?
Sorry i have questions regarding the use of a menstrual disc and idk who to ask so if you, or any other watcher of this channel, can answer me, it would help me so much.
I watched all your videos as I was looking for a cheaper and environmentally friendly alternative to tampons, so i decided to buy a menstrual disc.
I took your website’s test when choosing the disc and used your tutorials when inserting it, but i have only one issue, and i don’t see anybody talking ab it so idk what to do
So I bought the lumma disc size S, & i inserted it correctly, because i checked and i tucked it properly behind the pubic bone, my cervix is inside it (i checked), i touched all the borders and its in place, the problem is the round part/“cup” part thats underneath the rim/border, it doesn’t open properly in the round shape, its like folded in itself a bit.
I’m beyond frustrated trying to make these discs work but I get nothing but leaks
That was me with cups. So I decided to try discs. Here goes it 🤷🏽♀️
I am currently using lunette cup, and i like it, However the suction is something which make is not comfortable to remove. I want to try a disc. Which one would be a similar softness to luna? I couldnt use harder cups like organiccup Thanks!
Such a great video thank you
When will the hello disc come to Canada??
Is it more advisable to used disc. Than cup? I'm so confused which will i use.
I feel like inserting is the easy part. I'm afraid that removing it won't be as easy.
Is there anyway to prevent unwanted autodumps or is the desc not for me?
cup is less likely to auto dump
Is there a way to know if you have tucked it? I don't know if it's tucked in or not
should the disc open fully? mine doesn't, so it doesn't reach its full capacity - i'm not sure if it's supposed to be like the at or if i haven't got the right size.
No matter how I insert it will not stay. The front wall won't hold it, it CAN'T be tucked...is there a trick?
I love her videos 😀👍
My disc always leaks..i tryed all tips but no sucess. I have a super high cervix and it nevef seems to be in right position. 😢
What are some smaller discs? I tried the Flex disc but it's too big and the pressure is making my cramps worse.
Old comment. But Cora is smaller. ❤ I love mine.
@@nicolemarble3856 thanks for the help! I realized after a few months because I was still having spotting while it was in but now it’s better 👍🏻
Thx 4the tips. Very useful❤
Please comment about how to get it out.... i have some trouble on that.
Sole disc have a slightly slender side like a pointy one, does it goes first ? Does it makes any difference?
Does retroflexed uterus have any issues with these
I am not native in English. After using the disc for 12 hours, can it be cleaned and put back on?
Yes
Quesitons. Are discs and nuvarings (birth control) the same concept?? Inserting and removing??
