    Oh my gosh. I’ve been using a saalt cup for a while, and I’ve loved having a reusable period product. So worth it. But I have always struggled with removal because of the suction, and have often had leaks. When I say the hello disc had been such an AMAZING product, I cannot stress enough how easy to use and stress free it is. The tab to pull it out, the insertion, the fact that it is LEAK FREE… I will recommend this to anyone and everyone. Amazing.

    I haven’t used it on a period yet but I’ve dry run it twice now (second time to test 🍆 functionality) and I can already say I love it way more than the diva cup I had before. The diva cup pressed on my bladder, and with my high cervix was difficult to remove. I’m one of those people who’s a little squeamish about digging around up there, and that with being able to feel it the whole time made me dread using it. I couldn’t feel the hello disc at all (neither could my partner) and I could take it in and out all day, no digging necessary! I’ve already got one friend to order one, and I’m working on some others. Thank you for making this! ❤️

    I’m more a silent subscriber but I really wanted to express how much Period Nirvana has aided in my success! I start using reusable menstrual products in June of ‘21 ranging - and I also vowed to not buy another tampon - from undies to the cup to an disc. I quickly discovered I have a high cervix, which makes the reach a bit hard with a disc but I manage! I’ve tried the Lumma High and the Nixit, but by golly the Hello disc is fab-tab-ulous! See what I did there! Thank you so much for the efforts and I imagine countless hours of research you’ve put in, Kim! Very happy consumer!

    This last cycle I had was the first time I’ve ever reached for a disc instead of a cup because of how well designed this one is. I honestly think this may be my new favorite period product ever. It’s taken me a little bit to learn how to use it properly, and I’m not a fan of auto-dumping, but it’s so easy to remove, it truly is mess-free when you get the hang of it, and I don’t think I’ve have a single leak in the 4 cycles I’ve tried it (which is big for me because I can fill a 30 mL cup in about 7 hours)

    Hi Kim. I received my Hello Disc last week and got my period today. I am a first time user, so insertion was a little bit hard, but now I will put in practice those tips u gave about insertion. I think i tucked it , and put it correctly. Its kinda hard to tell, until I start leaking I guess. I have been using cups for about four months and I always leak a little bit. I’m really hoping that I don’t leak with the disc. It feels very comfortable, I’m glad that I don’t have to stick my fingers and push my vaginal walls. But I want to thank you for your input in this product and keeping all of us in mind. Great job 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😊

    • @luzgutierrez7104
      @luzgutierrez7104 2 года назад +7

      @@Aleutica yes, it took me 3 cycles to figure it out. My problem was that I wasn’t inserting down towards my tailbone. If you don’t aim towards your tailbone, your disc wont tuck properly and it will end up sliding down and leaking. So aim down toward ur butt, and then tuck up. Now I never leak, and I have it on for 12hrs, no problems at all. Hope this helps😉

    My last period was my first cycle with a disc (the Cora) and I was so excited… it didn’t disappoint, it was a magical experience. The first 2 days I did feel a little uneasy, I think because I might need something with a bit higher capacity. It was a little harder to reach, but I managed, and I was stoked. I ordered the Hello disc today because I think it will be a life changer, to my already life changing discovery of discs.
    Not having to worry about suction! It’s amazing! For whatever reason my flex cup stopped working, I swore “never again”. And I’m so glad. Thank you for your videos. You make me excited to get my period 😁

    Just want to say that I got the hello disc thanks to this video and I love it. As someone with joint issues that made basically any other insertable option difficult, it is a real game changer. My only complaint is the pretty awful staining and that urinating feels ... odd, like the flow is being restricted. I have never once had it leak, and being able to push the contents out in a pinch while keeping the disc in...the convenience is unreal. Thank you so much for your efforts in creating this product.

    First of all, THANK YOU! I bought this on pre-order and tried it for the first time two weeks ago.
    Since switching to reusable menstrual products, this was the FIRST leak free period I've had (even on my heavy days). It's also the first leak free period I've had ever (as tampons always leak on my heavy days after 2 hrs).
    I will also testify that it is idiot proof, as I've inserted it inside out twice (with the tab on the inside)! I'm still not sure how that happened🙈! It did not leak on these occassions and it was relatively easy to remove as I have a low cervix.
    I will say however, that when emptying in a public bathroom, I had to tug from behind as I can't seem to get it out without it emptying into my palm in the way demonstrated in the video. Tugging from behind allows me to empty the disc without pulling it out all the way. Once emptied, I tuck it back in virtually mess free.
    Great job Kim! I'm incredibly grateful to you for finally reaching my period nirvana!💗

Tampons because the dry cotton is very painful for me (sensory issues) and cups because of the suction, also sensory related. I tried it dry run and then for 1 period. I have a low cervix. I give it a 4.5 out 5 stars.
    I practiced insertation/removal 2 days before my period. Insertation for all tab types was 'difficult' at first but practice makes perfect. I believe the area where the tab is attached is a little thicker, therefore made it harder to squeeze. But only temporarily. Flipped was the easiest to remove. Tucked was hard for me to get ahold of the tab. Due to having a low cervix, I didn't attempt the dropped tab. I believe flipped or tucked might be my way for future cycles.
    The material of the hello disc is amazing. So smooth and not tacky. To have inside smooth and outside matte was a good idea.
    Now removal is where I knock off 0.5 star. The claim of it being mess free removal is what drew me to this disc. I've used ones without removal device and I have used the Lumma that used strings. The claim where it is "mess-free" wasn't my case. When I pulled the tab, the blood would shoot out. And then it got over my fingers and hand. And this happened on heavy days and medium flow days.

    First day using this Hello Disc. It did take two hands to keep it folded, and I fumbled with it a bit at first (shot itself up and out of my hands onto the floor, so I had to boil it again 😂)
    But the second try, as soon as it was mostly in, *SLORP* it just popped up into place without even tucking 😳 I was SO surprised!! And I've almost been paranoid that I somehow did something wrong, because discs in the past have been a struggle to keep them in place 😂 But this is the one the quiz gave me, and damn it was so right!! Thank you for working with production to make it 🥰

    I have been an avid advocate for menstrual cups to anybody who would listen, but as somebody with a high cervix removal was always a problem for me, as it would involve a minimum of five minutes of pinching and rummaging around to try and get the cup out. Additionally, as my period is quite heavy, I would rarely be able to go the full 12 hours before needing to empty the cup or risk a leak. That’s why I decided to check out what menstrual discs were all about.
    At first I was very apprehensive because they seem so much larger than cups and I really didn’t like the idea of the two rings hanging out, but I figured I could always trim them if they were getting in the way.
    Anyways, I took the test and I bought the Hello disc after your recommendation and well, colour me impressed, because it slides right in, collects more blood than the cup, and oh my God never has the removal been so easy. No pushing, no pinching, no bearing down to grab the stem of the cup, I literally just tug on the ring and the whole thing slides out without any pain or discomfort. Also, the rings actually sit quite nicely tucked in along the cup, and, needless to say, but with my high cervix, not only did I not need to cut them, but I almost always use the outer ring only as that’s the most comfortable one to reach.
    I really appreciate the easier removal and the larger volume that the disc is able to hold and also the softer silicone just feels like it moulds to my anatomy so much more gently.
    All in all, this was an excellent recommendation!
    I hadn’t realised how much my body language changes when I’m on my period because I’m always worried about a leak, which has happened through pads, through tampons, through period underwear, through cups, and sometimes even combinations of the above. If the disc manages to give me freedom from leaks, it would truly revolutionise my life. Thank you for designing this! ❤

    WOW I'd been thinking of trying a cup. I only have use of one of my hands so bathroom trips take a lot longer when trying to change tampons/pads but just watching the reviews made me question how I'll put the cup in. I was led to your video on causes of pain with the cup and that's when I said absolutely no way will I try a cup. I cry just getting a pap smear due to trauma even though I've already delivered a child. Just the thought of pain from the cup scared me. I took your quiz and it recommended this since I have an IUD and you have me SOLD from this video! Finally something I can use with an IUD that won't be painful that I can use with one hand. Thank you!!!

I’ll find myself sitting for over an hour just thinking about how little I want to reach in there and struggle to break that seal 😭 I’ve been trialing disposable disks this cycle and the experience has really got me strongly considering a reusable version. This disc is great! Mine arrived the day before my period, and I think the anticipation was warranted. For me, it functions exactly as described, and removal is a breeze. (Insertion didn’t seem quite as easy as the Cora, which had been my go to, but the difference isn’t huge, and the ease of removal pushes the Hello disc ahead, for sure!)
    I have a new favorite! Thank you again!

    • @PeriodNirvana
      @PeriodNirvana  2 года назад +3

      Yes! I love this! I would totally agree that insertion might be less easy compared to a few other reusable discs (but easier than some as well, so kind of in the middle) but the other benefits make that a non-issue for me as well. I think every product is going to have tradeoffs in one way or another. The thing that makes it easier to remove and comfortable (shape, rim, tab) can make insertion slightly harder for some. It's all about which thing you value most!

      @@Harlow_Khmer It went well. Hello disc did what it was suppose to do which was secured behind the tailbone with no leakes on a relatively low-medium flow day. But, I would recommend a disc with a higher capacity on the heaviest day. I’ve tried other disc that I do prefer over the hello disc based off my female anatomy diagram and the amount of blood I lose per cycle. Self diagnosed, I do have menorrhagia (heavy bleeding) with history of blood transfusions. My go to are: Ziggy B (76 ml capacity w diameter 73) and Lumma high (60 ml capacity w diameter 68). The Ziggy and Lumma discs are a lot firmer and can hold more than the hello disc. I like lumma more over the Ziggy due to the string, easy pull/ control over the toilet with no mess, whereas with the Ziggy or any disc without a pull string or loop would be a lot messier. I would recommend those without a string or loop do in the shower.

      @@Harlow_Khmer your welcome. Im glad I was able to help. But I’ve heard a few stories about the cup. I, myself have the Merula XL cup. That’s the best larger capacity, firmer, with a ring to pull. Merula fits me better, but I will say cups do have a tendency to rise up in the canal and sometimes flip which can be annoying. Also, I’ve noticed with cups they do suction so you will experience some cramping after trials of learning. C-fold was the insert I used to put the cup in, so embrace yourself whichever fold that you use because it will pop open. Sometimes when its pops open that’s how I know the cup is fully open but I still check around the base with my finger. Cup vs disc; the cup you have to run your finger just to make sure there’s no dents whereas disc you dont. Disc to me is like plugging your Vijay jay it doesn’t rise up and the only way blood will flow out is if you unplug it. With the cup if its full/overflow it’ll leak on the side of your Vijay jay walls. More, I feel with cups i have to change quite frequently, say about every 5hrs but with a disc 7-10 hr wear. Discs for me is way better I can swim do my daily routine;very busy day and I don’t have to worry about leakage. Not saying disc dont leak but they do autodump when its full; more or less when you use the bathroom, but it’ll go back in its place (behind tailbone)for me at least.Just keep in mind cups are not messier than discs! I feel so proud of you and I have just been watching your videos the last few days. I impulse bought the Saalt Disc at Target. and then started to look up videos. I originally knew about discs from a couple youtubers mentioning that they like the flex disposable disc. I have wanted another period option other than the pads I have worn since I first got my period. Period underwear and overflowed for me. And the cup sounded cool but i didn't like the idea of something pressing on my vaginal canal. As well it seems a little complicated to know which ones would be best for the body. I had seen that flex had a reusable disc and was intrigued and scared. When I saw saalt had a finger notch I felt better. I will see how it goes and how it fits. But the loops, less mess removal and easy clean interior make me intrigued to try the Hello Disc. Thanks for all the helpful information and education in my journey into reusable period products. Thank you for the review! I backed the kickstarter and I was finally able to test it this week. Yay late cycles 😅🙄. The one thing that made it quite difficult for me, was that the first insertion was really hard. I was used to the Cora that has a firmer rim. The hello one was so soft that I almost couldn’t get it in, because it lost its form. I had to use two hands but i got it in. Wearing it was the most comfortable thing ever and removing it as well. My only gripe is insertion. EDIT: after first cycle I’m still torn. I don’t like that it’s so soft that I can’t place it correctly and I have to pinch it very hard to hold it’s form to be able to insert it. It also went sideways on me, which was bizzare. The pull tab I have yo tuck in and then let it reveal its self upon removal because otherwise is a bit uncomfortable. Lastly I worry that I can’t place it where it needs to be because the rim is not firm enough for my needs. I’ll try it again next cycle to see if I have better luck. On the plus side 0 leaks and once inside it’s quite comfortable.

I actually don't like to have something inside when I don't have my period yet and if there's a little blood, I don't need lubricant. So then I would be able to carry a clean disc. I’ve used different cups for the past couple years and have had trouble with painful/annoying insertion and removal, and rarely could get the cups to fit right so always leaked on heavier days, but was always too afraid to try discs because of the removal process! but I hope that the tab will help with that when I try later today! super stoked about this product :)

    I just ordered this and I’m very disappointed to find out it doesn’t come with the pouch. I contacted Hello Period as I thought it was just a mistake in my package. I was told that now it only comes with the limited edition Galapagos colour, not with Seafog or Black. They told me I need to purchase one separately from their website. Which i obviously don’t want to do because I don’t want to pay shipping just for a tiny bag. Not sure what to store it in now since I didn’t know to order a bag separately, I didn’t see that anywhere in the description.
    I don’t really want to pay for shipping just for a tiny bag. I must say, for something that needs to be stored 3 weeks out of every month and is a somewhat private product I’m really surprised it doesn’t come the bag included anymore.
    Kim, maybe you could add that in your description so people know they need to now order that separately if they want a bag.
