Thank you for letting me know! I just staggered those strips and then cut the trees they were 1 1/2 inch by 3 inch. The strips overlapped at an angle. And the strips were different widths.
I love your cards! I am making my cards this year from scraps from the past two years! 💕
Thanks Lisa! I have been enjoying the scrap process over the past year...

@@SeniorSusieStamps Sorry! Yes! I loved the one with the big snowman on it. They all came together really well though with lots of good ideas with laminating. 😊
@@kayebrown2440 Isn't that stamp adorable?!?!
I love snowman. Now I need that face. Congrats. I just found you and subscribed
Welcome to My Channel! He is a cutie isn't he?!
Love your Christmas cards ❤️
Thanks Karin!
Hi Julia! I forgot it's Thursday! But I found you and your beautiful Christmas cards! Love the snowman face stamp! What a cute little guy he is! I love all that you've done with the laminator. Your cards seem to come together so easily! You really do inspire me!
Thanks Claudia - He is a Cutie isn't He?! I really think the key to using scraps successfully is to use the coordinating papers. You just can't go wrong because everything goes together already. Then all you have to figure out is an embellishment and focal point. And it's Card Done!!
Hi Julia - "Senior Pat" here in New Hampshire. Love these cards. The one with the paper napkin of all trees, that you laminated one side might look pretty and muted by using the back side, not the laminated one. I may try that.
Thanks! I was experimenting with the laminator. It gives a lot of different results!
Slowly but surely catching up on your videos!! Congratulations on reaching over 1000k subscribers! I’m so excited and happy for you!! These cards all turned out great! That snowman face stamp is absolutely adorable!!
Thanks Maureen! I think he is just a cutie!! And I can't believe the subscribers!!!
Just missed you.but I'll watch
Let me know what you think!
Hi, to make your trees or anything else have a clear glass finish, Linda Bedinger from Ink and Ingenuity (you tube video) explained how she used a wide clear packaging tape. It might work a bit cheaper that lamination sheets. I have bought some to try this out. Your cards are lovely and given me another idea to try this out. She used them to make Christmas hanging balls and they looked good. Thank you for sharing your ideas.
I have just subscribed to you channel🙂
Hi Ann and Welcome to My Channel. Yes I have used packing tape as well and keep a roll on my craft cart. But I just got a laminator so you know I am looking for everything possible to laminate! LOL isn't that the way of it?! Happy Crafting and Thank You for subscribing! Come Back Soon!!
Congrats on reaching 1,000 subscribers! The snowman face stamp is adorable!
Thanks Kathleen!! And I totally agree!!
🎉✨🎈✨🎉YAY JULIA... well done, and congratulations for reaching over 1000 subscribers❣❣❣ 🎉✨🎈✨🎉
I am so delighted that more and more crafters are finding your channel. 😀
As you make so many Christmas cards for the seniors you are very organised, and it is fun seeing your thought process as you put the cards together.
Julia, when you glue the faux vellum with the laminated side down how well does it adhere, and will it eventually lift up because the surface is laminated? Also, if you apply glue to the laminated side do you still see the glue once it dries?
Your faux vellum is very versatile as you can use either side, and the more subtle side would have also looked lovely on your third card.
I must say my favourite card was the second one you made 'Joy to the World', with the nativity scene.
Have a wonderful, and productive day in your craft studio with Cordelia.
Blessings, love and hugs from your Aussie friend Gloria❣ 🥰☕🍰💐💖💝💕
Hi Gloria - Such wonderful, thought filled questions! So far, I have not had any Art Glitter Glue showing through once it's dry. The ATG tape runner did show on the laminate to paper side and needs to be covered up. And I haven't had it pull off the piece. I will be checking them again in a couple of weeks. Will update if there is a change to that.
At the point of lamination, you have to choose which side of the serviette you want to have the laminate on, unless of course you are doing plain white. If you laminate on top of a designer serviette it really brings out the colors. And the back is obveously "The Backside". That's why on some of them I split them and laminate half on the front and half on the back. Does that make sense? It allows me to choose shiny or textured. But you can't really change your mind on them and just flip them over, it just doesn't look quite right.
I love than "Joy to the World" card too!!!
Sending you Hopes for a Beautiful Day in your neck of the World! Julia
What kind of glue do you use on your laminated pieces? Thank you for this tutorial..love them cards!!!
Hi Ellen - Glad you enjoyed this one. To answer your question - My glue of choice is alway Art Glitter Glue with the fine tip. It works 100% of the time; with just enough drying time to give you a little squiggle room, but not too much. You also can get by with less than you think - I probably use way too much. Hope this helps.
First time watcher! 😁 what is the purpose of laminating? Thank you!
Hi Susan and Welcome to My Channel. I use the laminator for a couple of reasons. First to add clear laminate shine; you could use packing tape for this if you don't have laminator. I also like to use it to stiffen tissue and paper napkins, so you can use like regular paper. The lamination process gives structure to those papers. Hope this helps! There is a lot of content on the channel so Come Back Soon! Julia
The laminator tree looks good, I thought that perhaps you could also put widish sellotape on to the card and trim tfs your great idea. I am in UK and we have friends in Virginia but I love your accent - which state are you in tfs
Hi Ruth and Welcome to My Channel! I am in Tennessee. And your idea for tape - I have to look up widish sellotape - is a great idea!!! Not everyone has a laminator and that would give a laminated look wouldn't it?! Thank you so much for sharing!!
Can you use the minc to laminate? Love #3.
I'm sorry Sharon I know nothing about minc so I'm not the right person to ask.
I love your videos Julia! I was wondering how you laminate on just one side - I have a laminating machine, do I just send it through the machine with 1 layer of laminating film?
Hi Sharon - I don't think i would send it with just one layer it might stick to your rollers. Here is how I do mine - ruclips.net/video/vMESeaDnbjM/видео.html
@@SeniorSusieStamps Thank you so much!
@@sharonh.5586 You are welcome - Happy Crafting!
Watching the replay and wishing I had a laminator but I do not. I saw a tip about using clear packing tape to make things shiny, wonder if it might work on your trees?
Yes Kathy it would. I have done that many times! And if your piece is smaller than the tape you won't see any tape lines. Just trim the excess off.
@@SeniorSusieStamps I was thinking about the trees, put the tape on before cutting. By any chance do you remember the size of cardstock that you covered and how you cut the 3 trees?
These were just leftover strips and they were varying length. The widths varied also if I recall. If I were doing it with packing tape - mine is 2 inches - I would cut the final tree 1 3/4 inch wide by 3 1/2 inch tall, or close to that. On the 3 I made I did a zig/zag cut and got all 3 trees out of 1 piece. It was about 4 inches tall by 6 inches wide...more or less.
@@SeniorSusieStamps Thank you - that gives me a place to start. I just LOVE that snowman face, wish they were still available. Just saw your bokah video - that is such a cool technique. I have been watching mostly Christmas card video's right now since I am starting on mine. I only do about 150 so don't need anywhere near what you make.
WHERE YOU GET THE SIVLER STRIPS TO RIGHT NEXT TO THE TREE CARD
Hi Angie - Those come from Paperwishes.com here is a link for that specific one. But be sure and check out the whole line - they are very easy to use! paperwishes.com/products/4020019
Do you have a video in how to laminate those small scraps? Thank you
Hi Wendy - I put those small scraps in a laminating pouch together and then cut them apart. I only laminated one side so there would be a good glue surface on the back. To do this I put 2 sheets of copy paper in between layers. My go to guru for laminating is Ann Melvin and she just published a fabulous laminating video today - here is a link - ruclips.net/video/BdZXTJ44X8k/видео.html I show how to do the faux vellum in an earlier video - here is a link - ruclips.net/video/vMESeaDnbjM/видео.html
@@SeniorSusieStamps many thanks. I’ll try it. Great idea
What kind of laminator do you use?
Hi Sally - I purchased it last year from amazon. It's a Royal Sovereign 12" Desktop Laminating Machine with Jam Release Lever (CL-1223) , White they cost about $30 here in the USA from amazon or walmart. And I was very satisfied with amazon basics laminator pouches if they are still available. Hope this helps.
What kind of glue do you use?
Books by Hand PVA or Art Glitter Glue are my go to glues.
Drinking my coffee and enjoying your video I was so excited when I saw this come through this morning 😊. Congratulations on your subscribers you deserve it fully 😃. Can't wait to get in my craft room later. By the way Julia I would love to send you a Christmas card this year all the way from Australia? Do you accept cards from your subscribers?
