There's actually a bit of a way to determine how many players are in the DDoS's vicinity, because whenever you activate it and it affects a player in the activation range, you will get 20 points for that, so if you were to get 40 points without any devices deactivated, that would tell you two players are nearby. Iirc the "EMPd player" message will also pop up, but either way you can use the DDoS as a sort of proximity scan if you understand the score system for it and maybe pay attention to your operator's dialogue after activation.
The range on DDOS extends 25m in front of you. The area of activation is rectangular and, if not patched, actually has infinite range of width. I have have actually sniped a Heavy Helo out of the sky in GroundWar. I think there is a ceiling to it's range since a Helo can fly out of it range. Credit to FavstaR.
I think adding two more seconds would definitely put it in the top tier. I didn’t realize it had such a strong affect, if they can fix that recon and bomb drone bug, then I’d run it in all of my classes, but currently I run the trophy system. I drop that thing in an area I know is having a lot of shootouts or before turning a corner or even for a quick reload and it’s saved me and my teammates so many times
Something you missed was that the DDOS range is infinite if you are facing sideways towards equipment and vehicles and stuff. This thing is very good at accumulating score for score streaks in Ground War and Invasion.
I always thought this field upgrade worked like an emp but sadly it doesn't. I think it would be so much better if it countered the amount of clay mores, bouncing Betty's, and cluster mines people use to camp with, not just by a few seconds, but indefinitely.
@RocketMan not really, Treyarc games had these same mechanics where you hard counter equipments, while making you vulnerable to other things. Black ops 3 had hardwired where no traps could even touch you, making it perfect for stealth players.
@@rocketman8476 bro how would that be OP? Just removing one claymore that a player will be placing down the whole game, and ofc if DDOS worked like that than the recharge rate would be slower
As others have mentioned, the DDOS range is a rectangle that sticks out 25 meters in front of you at the time of use, and extends infinitely sideways. Turning so that all the enemies are to your side can allow you to DDOS items from across the map.
@@scott3285Yes! Throw your decoys towards the center of the map or wherever there’s frequent gunfights and you get points for every enemy that dies near your decoy.
Shipment is easily the best map for this. So many people bring mines, claymores, trophies, and whatever else that taking them out in an area is nice for the team. It can also be used to see if an enemy is close to you that you can’t see.
I feel like this is mostly be useful to counter Trophy Systems and and some Kill Streaks. Everything else I feel like it’s mostly a cherry on top if anything
Personally, I think it needs a buff. Deactivating equipment for 6 seconds MAY give you a sliiiight advantage in a cqc kind of situation, but if people are holed in, it doesn't do jack to their display anyway. I'd say shorten the range A BIT and make it destroy equipment.
Something thats worth noting is from testing ive seen, the equipment disruption area isnt a radius around you -- its a rectangle that extends 25m in front of you and infinitely to the side of that line
If DDOS were to be buffed I think having it add more time to enemies field upgrade charge rate, even if slightly would be an interesting change. Possibly could entirely block using a field upgrade in the radius until running out or the DDOS player being killed.
I use it quite a bit. But in all game modes it's the same thing with recon drones and bomb drones. I find it odd it will destroy smoke screen drones but it never has destroyed bomb drones even if it says it does. Enjoying the videos, thank you!
As a scorestreak killer, DDoS is always in my kit. Wheelsons are terrifying killstreaks even when you have an incendiary LMG or BR. and the ability to cover non arial streaks is worth the few extra seconds on my Tac cams. Hopefully they do make it so the recon and bomb drone actually get disabled come season 2.
DDOS, in fact, won't work against the bomb drone during public matches as well..I've experienced this half a dozen times, and is very annoying cuz there's a short time window to effectively counter the drone B4 it explodes, since there the "successful" popup, @ first I thought my timing was kinda off.. and I think is fair to assume it won't work against the recon drone neither... Another thing no one has pointed out, if you're using the pro version, it won't show _devices in range_ until you use DDOS once... Now, I don't remember if when you pick the other field upgrade after having used DDOS it will stop showing again until you blindly use it once more, if memory serves me right it stops... Also, as many have pointed out, the sideways range @ activation is infinite (area is rectangular, 25m in front of you), so B4 activating maybe a good idea to pivot in place to try and get as many devices as possible... That being said, I don't think is underrated at all, usefulness is very circumstantial, works best on smaller maps obviously, so Shipment lol... Very best counter to triggered explosives still is _bomb squad_ since DDOS duration is very short and the range is unintuitive at best... Plus you don't know what devices are in range, could be anything unless you've _spotter_ on... On Shipment use of _trophy_ is rampant so DDOS is very useful w/ some bonus, but then again even there, depending on what enemies are using the usefulness goes out the window... Cheers
I think it's important to mention that the DDOS only affects what's in front of you not behind you. And the distance it can reach to your left to right is infinite. So it's a giant rectangle of coverage
I love how there was a guy looking out a hole on the edge of the map that you killed and then you walked to the same hole and looked out it. Human curiosity at its finest. 😂 2:48
This is the best thing added to objective modes. For any of y’all who were in those sweaty lobbies in MW 2019, I’m sure you remember the obscene trophy system spam on modes like hardpoint where pushing objective became nigh impossible. DDOS has finally stopped this problem for me. And if you aren’t playing an obj mode this ruins a campers nest by taking out their trophy systems, claymores, and proximity mines, making it much easier to flush the camper out.
It doesn't though because that stuff is still there and trophys are stupid to run as a camper. The point of their equipment is for you specifically to reveal yourself. Meaning that little bit of fuzz on the HUD gives you away. Your footsteps give you away. This doesn't help at all against a half-decent camper.
2:27 actually you can use it to detect enemy players; but only by activating it. if you think or if you wanna be sure if there is or isnt someone within 12 meters from you, activate it, and if there is it will give you 20 score and tell you "Player EMPed"
The DDOS against the bomb drone reacts the same in public matches, so your testing stacks up at the moment. You do get the heads up that it was effective but that isn't the case.
I usually always have ddos equipped. I use the devices in range metter as a spotting method and slow down as there's a possibility of campers in the area. I do believe that it only stops drone movement for the duration.
Activating this and full rush the A building on Taraq where people loves to camp has to be extremely useful. Because they usually rely on their claymores/mines doing the work if someone tries to catch them but a ddos rush would be super effective.
The problem is you're running in you've let them know you're coming on their hud so even if they can't hear your steps they get an indication if they positioned well. The claymore/mine did their job as intended. They don't use those to kill but to force you to reveal you're near.
Not all optics use electricity. For example the acog uses natural light to illuminate the reticle. That could explain why some optics are unaffected. If so that's a fantastic detail!
I mostly use it to clear snipers out of buildings. Deactivate their mines protecting the stairs and mow them down with a hip fire smg class in extreme close quarters.
For Warzone, the only viable use I see for DDOS is disabling the armed vehicles, other than that it's pretty useless. It's not that they're utterly bad, it's just that there's far better field upgrades.
The bomb drone definitely does not get countered by DDOS in regular multiplayer, I’ve learned that one the hard way before. Assuming this would be the same for the recon drone too.

What about flash lights and night vision?
Does the wheelson reactivate when you use DDOS?
Ddos in war zone is a menace when ambushing teams
Ive noticed sometimes it gets activates and swaps sentries over to the team that used it but im 99.999% sure thats a bug and ive seen it very rarely
Does it affect lasers like the canted laser?
I think I tried it on a recon drone in GW. It might have just disabled its movement.
So if I disable the enemy trophy and put my one, which one will get destroyed?
Pretty sure they have this field upgrade in TitanFall 2 as well
The DDOS needs a buff. I feel like it should completely destroy Claymores, Proximity Mines, Suppression Mines and Trophy Systems.
DDOS also affects vehicles in Warzone and DMZ
DDOS should absolutely make the recon drone crash and be destroyed that must be a bug. Seems like a great score booster though.
