This idea was sent to me and I absolutely loved it. I love how the metallic sheen feels PART of the material and not painted on. How the pair still feels casual and easy but the glitter affect makes them feels special and unique.
I will show you how to apply this affect in a way that keeps the fabric feeling soft and wearable.
I will also teach you how to set it so that you can wash them
WASHING - Whenever possible I would spot clean. This is a fabric paint which is completely permanent but I would always try to wash as infrequently as possible to extend the life of it.

That video was absolutely incredible. I am very impressed that you put so much time into it to find the best way to share with us. This is why your community loves you. Keep it up, you are the best.
Did it. Worked 100%. Love it. The only thing I did different is mixing paint with water in a bucket (lined with plastic bag and dipped the dry pants in it. Made sure it soaked through well, hung on the hanger and then worked all over with my hands to even up the paint. Whole process took less than an hr
I'm sitting here looking at totebags the family has given me. Boring canvas bags with lots of function. I might have to practice on a bag first. 😊
Omg I have never needed cargo pants until this moment! Those are amazzzzzing!
Same here! I love them!
I saw a denim skirt that was silver just the way these pants are covered in this pearl essence. Thank you for showing me that I can do it
Orly, I so enjoy watching your process and persistence on your DIY’s. These pants are awesome!
I found the paint in my city and painted the pants today. Love them! I used one coat just to test the process. I bought 4 of the 2.25 oz jars of paint. I used 2 1/2 jars to achieve the look I wanted. Thanks for sharing.
✨Okay those were Awesome!!! ✨But I KNOW YOU KNOW …. WE SAW THOSE GLITTER JEANS!!! Where are those 😍😍😍
What's the wash/dry process for these pants? Does the paint withstand detergent and a washing machine? They're beautiful!
They will be machine washable because it's acrylic paint but I would always recommend spot cleaning when possible
Well I will be making these quite soon
The RockNot Straps are GORGEOUS! Love how you were able to stick with the DIY process and get the cargo pants glittered! As always, you ROCKED IT!
thank you!
Every week I say this is my favorite diy you've done lol But I really think this is way up at the top! Wowzer!! I need to find the perfect light cargos now.😊 Thank you Orly!!❤
omg so glad!!
Another great day! Thanks!
OMG. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE...Such a versatile pair of pants.
Great job on doing this. I love your style. I never thought of cargo pants as dressy but pearlescent cargos with that sweater look so good. And you can dress down too!
WHAT?!?!?!?!?! I mean....they are the coolest!!!! I can't wait to do thissssss!!!!! Thanks Orly 😍🤩
The pants came out gorgois!
How about just dunking the pants themselves, into a bucket (or whatever.. container) large enough that would contain the liquid with room to move around, and just manipulate with hands, squeezing, and moving around. That's what i would do.. i'm all about motion efficiency. Also...Since the Cargos that u used are sold out, can you tell us about them anyways? Would like to know the brand and the fabric content please. Thanx!
Updated the description because I found them! bit.ly/3PozbWp
Regarding dipping them, I kept thinking I should do that but I was worried I wouldn't have enough paint. In order top actually submerge the entire part and get the paint everywhere you would need an excess of paint and I did not have enough
I also wonder if that would make them stiffer and less comfortable to wear because they will be coated on both sides. And will it end up looking crinkled? Because the pants will be scrunched while soaking up the paint.
And of course the amount of paint needed would be quite wasteful, unless you plan to make MANY. I would probably dip a small tote or hand bag or hat or something similar.
I agree with everyone that I wouldn't want the texture of the pant of the paint on the inside.
your mod shot Does show the shine! if you want it to pop more in pictures, wear a matt top.
probably should have
I want one!! You rock, Orly!! Thank you for all you do!!
WOW!!!!
Yes to sponsoring your own video 🙌🏾
Ahhhhh Orly your brilliant! These pants are giving me life!! When I craft, my area or whatever space is a mess and typically keeps expanding and when I cook the same thing. It’s a mark of a true master!😆
hahah me too
Yes!!!
These are so good ! You hit out the park
stunning !!
This is the coolest DIY! I want to do this to some jeans too. Fantastic, thank you for such great instruction Orly.
Fab! I can think of so many applications for this technique.
Not me already wondering what other colors would look like!!! 😂😂😂
You do such the neatest and coolest work. Thank you for sharing!❤️👍😃🌻
Hey Orly! I love your projects! They are great design and totally unique. As a long time seamstress I think your ‘freestyle’ approach is awesome. I have been doing similar stuff for years, but you take it to the next level. You go girl!
Omg they came out so fabulous you rock girl ❤
Y'all have crashed the links to the available cargos.😂
I'm going to use a denim dress I already have.
Sweetie their really giving top designer brands. I love the heck out of them!!❤😊❤😊

This is nice. I do know that I'll have to be patient. I love your bag and your straps.
Fabulous video! You gave me an idea with this technique for throw pillows, canvas tote bag or fabric purse, jacket make some stripes on the jacket? Seriously sky's the limit on this I love it!!😊
gorgeous!
Love it! Shorts would be cool too!
Love those
I absolutely want to try this out! Wow 🤩 you always amaze me! These cargos are the coolest.

Incredibly beautiful ❤ we need more ideas on styling it 😉
Very Cool 💜
Those look awesome!

🔥🔥🔥
Those look so fun!
Amazing job!!!!
Wow😮 nice Rocknot bag! And what?!? Different straps!?!? So cool. 🤩 *looks in my wallet* dang it... not enough money right now.
I think it's cool that the iron will set the paint and not make it crusty. Never would have thought to do that. I'd probably let it air dry for a bit and put it in the dryer(low setting).
BUT, I think pressing the paint to the fabric would be so much better and probably not take as long as the method I mentioned.
I am kinda curious what I the paint would look like on top of a different color like green cargo pants. Would you still see the green color? Or is there a green iridescent paint?
Idk. But I think it would be cool to still see the pant color through the watered-down paint in different color pants. 😊❤
I think it would look awesome over another color. You could always do fewer coats so you see the under color more.
I saw these in the children’s section and wanted to grab them for my granddaughter, but they were not available for toddlers. Five days later and Orly shows me how to diy them. It was meant to be!
Wondering how this would work with a big sponge or a mini roller. 🤔 I’ve got a couple of twill and denim jackets I’d love to try this on…
What a great idea to use on a denim or twill jacket!
I think as long as you buff it in after you apply with the roller, it will work. But I dont think it will give you an all over even finish
Woooow!!! I love these pants 😍 thanks you Orly
Amazing.
Amazing!!!
Love those pants!
These look AMAZING!! Love this! Love the crossbody and straps!! Interesting video!!

Thanks for this DIY. Love these. Question: Did you wash the pants before you put the paint on them?
❤❤❤❤❤❤ !
Everytime a win

Smashing pants!
Could you share a video about your favorite places in LA? I have made notes about some shops you have gone to in the fashion district but I'd like to know how you'd spend a few days as a DIY lover. It's my first time visiting from Germany :D
oooh welcome!!! I would just park near Michael Levines and walk around. Thats where all the fabric and bead stores are
@@OrlyShaniShow thanks so much! will do
Love❤
Omygod, it turned out so beautiful!! ❤
New suscriber! 🥰
Woooow!! This is great! Do you think it would work with Angelus paint? I can't find the one you used in my country :(
Clever girl for designing that bag!❤. I think you should know that fanny means something rude in the UK😂😂😂
You think?a beauty blender or?A sponge brush?would do the job?just thoughts😊
Both would soak in the paint and the glitter payoff would be bad. These types of paints need saturation and the only way to achieve it is to use something that won't take in the color/glitter, but deposit it into the fabric.
OMG. I literally - literally - just revisited a pair of silver metallic high-rise jeans on the Zara website, maybe 30 minutes before this video popped up in my feed. I tried the Zara jeans in-store twice, and looooved them, because they are perfect for stage. They are still haunting my dreams. But they are $70, and I sense that the finish probably won't hold up with the frequent laundering my stage clothes get. I was going to revisit your metallic foil tutorial (which, BTW, worked GREAT on denim jacket I did), but this is actually the finish I wanted!
I have a couple of questions... what was the fabric content on your pants? I sense a higher cotton % or other natural fiber will work better than too much polyester or nylon - ? And do you have any kind of guesstimate of the final ratio of paint-to-water? Or could you take a stab at what the consistency was like? (for example, 'the oatmeal-water in the bottom of the bowl after you've finished eating' or 'the disappointing consistency of skim milk', etc.?)
Yeah. I get hung up on the technical stuff. LOL.
For the gals (and guys) who like gloves when doing DIYS, the best gloves I have found are the ones I find at locally-owned beauty supply stores. I'm currently using Sanek black nitrile examination gloves, which are powder-free and latex-free, size small, and they fit and feel like a second skin. I wear them for coloring my hair, or using RIT dyes on clothing.
Im so glad!!!
Very cool. I think, a paint roller might also work for larger surfaces. Or dabbing it on with a sponge?
But this is something, I will try for sure! Rhinestones or glitter diys are usually a little 'too much' for me (nowhere to wear something like that), but this is something, I would actually get a decent amount of wear out off 👍
yes it's a really subtle finish but soooo pretty!
This is beautiful 😍 cmdi you think paint rollers could have worked?
I must try ❤❤🎉🎉
Amazing😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
I love the concept, but what about the possibility of filling a small tub or foot basin with the paint/water mixture, and soaking the pants in it, and then it might look like it was really part of the fabric? I don't know, I've never done anything for an all over effect.
Hi Orly, just a inspiration on how to jazz a wardrobe up, I would like to know if you could make a video of maybe clothes that are more loose as I do not have you small bone structure and so not like restrictive clothes, thanks
かわいい good!
Can you show how we and make slip dress spaghetti straps little broader by adding lace or any material
I really wanna do it with my cotton denim dark grey shirt dress but not understanding which colour to choose give that shimmer as base dark for this silver
Made them!! Let them cure overnight! Heat setting now! Do I wash them right after I heat set them?
Absolutely awesome diy ORLY, Thank you for sharing all your tips and tricks ❤😊❤
If you have a plastic Tupperware container big enough for the full pans and immerse the whole pair of pants with the pearlescent paint order down do you believe it would do the same effect like dying your clothing instead of all the brush affects?
