Would love a little yt short maybe as a follow-up to see how long this lasts or what the wear-and-tear is like? Very excited to try this for a concert outfit but curious how gentle I have to be in wearing the shoes/garment to keep it intact as long as possible. I’m really active dancing, walking, traveling to get there, going to multiple dates etc for shows & would want to be sure my work holds up! ❤
Good question! I am wondering the same thing. Love to try this on some of my shoes as well, but recently saw a video by Bella Mae (ruclips.net/video/IdJYnWZIfFQ/видео.html) that made me hesitate to try it. Bella shows that the metallic leaf can become green after several months. Perhaps that has something to do with the fabric you use it on or wether or not you apply a sealant afterwards. Would be great to see a short follow-up on what the boots look right now! :) Thanks for making these great videos!
15 years ago I desperately needed a nice outfit to go out to a club in Barcelona so I took the easy route: I spray painted my shoes silver and I can’t tell you how many people complimented me that night! Men don’t have a wide selection of fun stuff so this DIY is a great idea! Thanks
I just watched this whole video, wondered why my throat felt so dry- I had my mouth open in awe basically the ENTIRE time. OMG OMG OMG this looks incredible! Also really love that you credited the original creator.
I JUST found out you can dye leather with acrylic paint! And that there’s leather dye COLORS like this! Wish there was a whole show devoted to showing artists and creatives the mediums there are to work with! And you can totally use those nail chrome powders on just about any surface if you treat it with the right stuff first 👏👏
These look absolutely stunning! I can't stop staring. Please keep us posted on how you go without the sealant, though? It seems like that thin leaf would scratch off really easily, but conversely, I've noticed a lot of sealants tend to dull that bright metallic shine, so I'd love to see how you go down the line.
Yes excactly. I did end up sealing them because after looking at the photos I actually wanted a slightly more matte affect. So they are fully sealed now
You make the most creative videos! Could you please do one of these in a rose gold on a leather jacket?? I would love to see how it would translate and wear!!
I love your ideas! ❤I used this exact technique and covered a couple of pairs of boots a few months ago. I kept my hoover next to me and kept hoovering up the leaf as I went along - it does really like to spread! I would recommend sealing them straight away as the leaf does scratch off in places and it is hard to patch in again - it doesn’t look as good with a second pass as you can see the scratches- hope this helps - they do look good when done -I ever so impressed with myself 😂😂
May I ask what you used to seal them and if once sealed do they still have that same vibrant shine... Im about to do a pair of Adidas Shell Toe Super Stars im so nervous
Really great of you to shout out and share a link to the person who you found sharing the idea ❤ you rocked out the park with yours tooo, now I need boots and a metallic jacket or a cool purse. 😊😊😊
I could so see me doing this on older leather halters and bridles for my equine and could be used for dog collars too. They can't wear them all the time but for some fancy time, or a fun themed trail ride, oh yeah. 😂
These are very cool! And the coolest thing is that I watched this video and with my mom who's visiting from Puerto Rico. I also showed her some of my fave DIYs from your channel. It is the first time she sees you and she loves your energy and how talented you are.
😃Wow, that so amazing how it it really 'melts' together and looks like they were originally made that way. I love how the silver looks with the heal that you had already diy-ed with the mirrors 👏👏👏❤️❤️
That's blooming genious. How long will it last for? What happens if you get caught in the rain? Can you stick it on faux leather? Thanks so much for the video.
Well Done 😊rly... J'Adore watching you grow your technique & showing us "It's not where you start... It's about the journey & where you finish"... Beautiful 🤩
These are adorable!!!! Seriously these look better than really expensive metallic boots!! they look custom. Which they are 😂! Yes I am that enamored. I am a stencil girlie so my first thought was to stencil designs if someone doesn’t want to do a full metal plunge. Let me say this. There is beautiful variegated foil. If anyone chooses to use that, practice with it. The flakes can mix and turn an unfortunate color when buffing. The sheets shouldn’t, but the flying flakes from the sheets might, especially when you are using them to patch.
the silver hardware on the booties make them look so much more metallic somehow. i saw someone gold leaf the inside of an archway in their house and thought that was cool.. didn't even consider putting it on boots.. or a backpack. 😍
I love these! I've seen boots like this in stores, and I always think they're so cool, but I wouldn't wear them often enough to justify spending the money. What a perfect hack! Thank you, Orly! ❤
Absolutely stunnnnning! I love everything gold and bling bling ✨ Your videos always inspire me to upcycle my stuff, dare to wear clothes and accessories I would never even think about before. You are the best inspiration ever. Muchas gracias Orly. I’ve been watching you since you started way back!❤❤❤❤
ALOHA! From Beautiful Hawaii! I went on the Amazon links to purchase the supplies but I’m not sure as to how many sheets to get for a tall boot vs the shorty boots. Can you please advise? Thank you so very kindly. ❤🌎✌🏼
Wow ! You are always so talented I remember I did a rainbow 🌈 pair you taught us how and was able to awesome I was able to resell them they turned out so amazing thanks to your tutorials!
Wow!!!! That's sooo cool!❤ I was hoping it was gonna be my answer to refinishing a pair of slouch ankle boots I have that the "pleather" is peeling off of, but since it shows the imperfections underneath, that's not gonna work😢 Do you have any suggestions to fix where the top is peeling off the boot? I LOVE those boots, they're sooo comfortable!❤

Great job! Kudos for giving the original creator her credit.
I'm happy about it! And that's the point, keep the artists together :)
yes!! Of course. I would have had no clue you could use gold leaf on fabric if it werent for her

OMG! I want to do boots, purses, maybe my husband lol! Thank you Orly!
😂😂😂
hahahaha
If he only had a sole.
Personally I'm too poor to afford shoes. I have a hypothetical sole.
😂😂

Omg! Same!

Hi! :) Is it possible to use on jeans as well?
Could you do this with leather skirts and trousers? And are thier other colourd available 😊😊😊
Wow, I I've been doing this in 24k to my watercolor paintings for years.... Never thought about doing it to my boots! I love it I'm going to do it.
These look absolutely stunning! I can't stop staring. Please keep us posted on how you go without the sealant, though? @@OrlysChannel fair enough! I wish there was a way to get that perfect shine to stick around.
The boots look awesome! Also, I appreciate you acknowledging where you got the inspiration from. That says a lot about your character. 😊❤

I would also be interested to know what you sealed it with.
Really great of you to shout out and share a link to the person who you found sharing the idea ❤ you rocked out the park with yours tooo, now I need boots and a metallic jacket or a cool purse. 😊😊😊
omg of course! She blew my mind!
Love this. My creative wheels are turning with ideas of how to try this with some old boots! Thanks Orly!
I could so see me doing this on older leather halters and bridles for my equine and could be used for dog collars too. They can't wear them all the time but for some fancy time, or a fun themed trail ride, oh yeah. 😂
What a thought! I've gold-leafed art-type stuff before (think picture frames and statues) but shoes? Mind blown!
right!!? so crazy.

😃Wow, that so amazing how it it really 'melts' together and looks like they were originally made that way. I love how the silver looks with the heal that you had already diy-ed with the mirrors 👏👏👏❤️❤️
