Hello! Fabrics do indeed tend to stretch, especially in the parts cut on the bias, and especially viscose! But it's perfectly normal. :) What I recommend, especially for long dresses like your black one with floral pattern, is to put it on a hanger BEFORE hemming, let it rest for 24 hours and then cut off the excess stretched fabric.
