    Here's some things I've noticed and my theory for where its all going.
    In a recent update to the English version of the game, they changed Aerith's final line in FF7 Remake from "'I miss it, the steel sky", to "The sky, I don't like it." ~ That very very heavily implies that Aerith could already see the rift in the sky at the end of FF7 Remake. Especially the fact that they even updated this line right before Rebirth, as it is obviously very significant.
    Also, upon replaying Rebirth, you'll notice several occasions where Aerith randomly stops, stares up at the sky, and has a concerned look on her face, seemingly seeing something we are not.
    This also makes a lot of her lines about the future being written but still being able to change make a lot more sense - She can't remember any more (because the whispers took her future memories), but she can see that their world is doomed (from the rift in the sky) and still wants to fight to save it!
    By the end of the game, Cloud can see the rift too, straight after traveling through timelines (no longer seeing with 'clouded eyes').
    I feel like all of that is really strongly implied (if you are looking out for it quite closely), and hopefully not too controversial. Here's where I go more into theory territory though...
    The fact that Aerith could already see the rift, coupled with her knowledge of future events throughout Remake is pretty strong evidence (to add to the pile) that suggests that she IS the original Aerith from the original 1997 game (she travelled between timelines to get here just like Cloud now has, which is why she could already see the rift).
    I think they have gone the multiverse route with this story, so that they can add new stuff without destroying the old story and continuity of the original FF7 and Advent Children. I think a lot of people feel like the original story was kind of sacred and shouldn't be changed. With this story as it stands, it seems like all of the original games (I guess you could call it the no Stamp timeline) still happened and are still canon, in their own timeline.
    I am so fully on board! Especially if they do end up going in the direction I think they are with it. This would tie everything up in a nice bow....
    I'm really hoping they tie in an event from the original FF7 compilation timeline (presumably after the end of Dirge of Cerberus) which created the 'main' timeline we have been playing this whole time. I'm guessing it would be Sephiroth splitting the original OG 1997 timeline off from within the lifestream into the Remake timeline, and Aerith being called on by the planet to travel back and chase him through time.
    Would love to know your thoughts!

      Yeah I don’t doubt she saw the scar at the end of remake and the line change does seem to imply it more.
      This is kind of where my head is at now.
      I think the original timeline is a soft win and the lifestream/planet wants a fate where it does win so it keeps this cycle of a soft win happening because it is all it knows. Things could be but doesn’t want to risk it and is already struggling now to keep this cycle because of Sephiroth/Jenova. It probably even had a better cycle until Jenova, not of this world, showed up and threw a wrench in the cycle.
      We know Sephiroth wants to take us to a promised land, and Sephiroth has defined his version of it to us, everyone becomes one with Jenova and any world with the scar seemingly leads to that path. I believe Aerith wants to guide us to the promised land as well but Aerith has never defined hers. Maybe because she doesn’t know what it is yet and she can only see the current cycle. Aerith knows a way to win, which is the original timeline but it doesn’t seem like a promised land to her, and I don’t think it is. It is a way that we win but we are stuck in this cycle and everything kind of starts again from there.
      If we do a multiverse jump and end up visiting the original universe post advent children, maybe even visiting red and his puppies, and an older wiser red explains all this to us it would blow people's minds but if we go there and see a scar form in the sky because Sephiroth has figured out how to break the cycle it would be a bit of an oh shit moment.
      I think Aerith wants to work towards something better though she just isn’t sure how yet or is scared to. It would probably involve stopping Jenova before she happens and preventing Shinra from being established or becoming something better. The scary part though is everyone would be different and become someone else. All the characters in this game are more or less defined by their suffering so if you take that away who are they? Would you want to never go through all the suffering in your life and completely change who you are for a chance of a better tomorrow?
      BUT it could just be these games are a remix of the original and all this stuff happens in the background of the OG we just never saw it, I don’t think that is it though.

      1. Of course it's all more of memory travel than it is time travel, these "timelines" actively don't exist without the memories of them.
      2. I like your Aerith theory never even occurred to me.
      3. @TheEggplantKnight I think we did actually see the fruition of Aerith's plan, and I think it's one formed by the Aerith who meets Sephiroth in the lifestream after the events of OG. She realizes Sephiroth is using Cloud to anchor memories of himself to the real world to maintain a physical body. The reason I think Sephiroth says "I admit, I underestimated you" is because she shows up right at the moment where Cloud is supposed to be despairing in her death and be separated from everyone else. Aerith knew this is the moment Sephiroth would try to attain upmost control over Cloud and give him despair. Remember in OG Aerith's death was the absolute low point for Cloud, and she maintained both Cloud's ability to reclaim his composure post death and keeps him from being alone with Sephiroth in the most crucial moment, when he has no friends to call on, and making sure Zack can intervene, maybe. I wouldn't be surprised if it was Aerith IN THE LIFESTREAM who gives the vision to Marlene in 7th heaven thru their contact for this very reason, because it is the already dead Aerith that is manipulating the situation and would know the proper timing due to her presence in the lifestream with it's memories of the "timeline". When Marlene first got that flashback in 7th Heaven I always felt like she actually saw Aerith die by Sephiroth and this just locked everything into place. Dead Aerith wanted to make sure Marlene could pass along to Zack what he needed to do to help Cloud. The real meaning behind "It's not about me, it's about saving the world, and you."
      4. Zack's whole story in this game is actually a continuation of the themes that plagued him in Crisis Core. In CC everyone around him seems to be going inexplicably crazy for no reason at all. Genesis defects and takes nearly all of SOLDIER with him, nobody knows why. He finds out later Genesis is degrading, but he still isn't sure why he is so desperate, or why Angeal thinks he's a monster and acts so out of character, or where the hell Sephiroth is while he has to deal by himself...both Genesis and Angeal fall into deep despair during to the point he has to kill them... and then right after that he goes to Nibelheim and Sephiroth goes nuts. Wakes up in a vat of Mako with Cloud next to him no idea why. He has to deal with everything, without ever getting any real answers on anything happening, and in the madness and confusion of it all, he relies on the one thing he can depend on...his "Soldier Honor". then this game....wind blows, he's still alive, no idea why, crazy things happening he can't possibly understand, and people falling into despair all around him. He deals with it all simply by hanging on to his spirit, his SOLDIER honor, and doing whatever he thinks is right, in a sea of confusion and chaos.
      5. Kinda a side note, but Yuffie KNOWS Zack well at this point in the game already and Aerith, Cloud, and Tifa have absolutely no clue about this. Cait Sith being Reeve actually probably DOES know this and says absolutely nothing about it to any of the other characters in the game.

      @toulor895 Your supposition implies that the existence of Zack in other "timelines" doesn't make him just a memory, but there is no separation there. I believe there are multiple Zack's in multiple timelines because beings, memories, and the lifestream are all in essence one in the same. Another Zack in another timeline would be a memory like everything else in the lifestream, simply manifested.

    • @intalek305
      @intalek305 4 месяца назад

      He doesn't really need to merge all the timelines. The LifeStream controls all memories and thereby controls the flow of time and destiny that is keeping sephiroth and Jenova trapped in a losing cycle. Sephiroth take control of the lifestream in any timeline, but he needs to be able to manifest his physical body in order to do it. I think that is a higher priority. Cloud is a means to an end.

    • @intalek305
      @intalek305 4 месяца назад

      @toulor895 First off, he does not want to destroy timelines necessarily. True, there is a part of that, that IS the case. But what controls time is the lifestream, through memories. If he controls the lifestream, Sephiroth also controls all time. Again, you are making a separation here, where the is none. You can''t control the entirety of the lifestream simply in one "timeline", because the lifestream is the essence of time itself, through the memory of occurrences. To control the lifestream is to control all timelines. Little use for merging them.
      Sephiroth did not actually warp time in Aerith's death, Cloud did. The white light when their blades clashed was the triggering of a new "timeline" because there now were memories of both of these occurrences existing. That is what actually creates these "timelines". I have realized there are two types of flashes Cloud gets, one is from Jenova imprinting memories on him and using her mimic ability, the other is white in color, I suspect from some entity in the lifestream, most possibly Aerith, using this same ability on Cloud in reversal. Watching these scenes with this in mind adds a lot of context.
      You are correct, the Zack that helps Cloud is not the Zack from Cloud's memory, but he is. Just in a different "timeline". Just like there is another Cloud. Again, you are trying to separate these things in your mind when there is none. Zack is both Zack from Cloud's time and Zack from his time, and can hop between "timelines" (with some help) and all of those are also because Zack is a memory AND a real life person, just like Aerith up until her death. Just like her, there are points where he is dead, and points where he is alive, but because Cloud still has memories of Zack, Zack is still able to intervene, just like Aerith.
      The reason you see both at the end of Advent Children is not simply because they go back to dating again. Dead Aerith considers Cloud to be her true love, not Zack. She thinks Zack is kind of a player, after she learns how close he was to Cissnei post death in the lifestream, and how much she underestimated how much Cloud cared for her.
      If that Cloud actually had no memories of Zack, no help from Zack. Sephiroth also, a memory but also not. Aerith state's that "everything about you is wrong" to Sephiroth, and I don't think it's just because he's Sephiroth and supposed to be dead, or because he got all that Jenova in him. I think it's because she realizes that Sephiroth is becoming a physically manifested memory, and that is why "everything about you is wrong". She means his whole existence.
      This is what it means for Zack as well, the timeline was changed, both he AND Sephiroth were freed from their destiny's, and Zack has in a sense, become a living memory as well. You cannot simply say, "they are clearly alive, so they are not a memory". As long as living beings are manifested through the lifestream, people will continue to "memories" in one shape or another, living or dead. And both can be both if you know how to manipulate this. This is in essence, Sephiroth's plan. To burn a memory into Cloud so deep that he will always exist, as long as Cloud exists. Otherwise, why not just kill Cloud and Zack before they know ANYTHING and call it a day? Why not just go back to that moment in the truck on the way to Nibelheim and just manipulate his real form from that time and just kill them? They definitely can't kill you in the future then.
      Because the changing the timeline is not what it's about. That is a means to an end. The ends are to use cloud as an anchor to his real world physicality because he cannot control and absorb the lifestream without doing that. Literally the whole of Advent Children is about him trying to manifest himself physically again. It's not about changing timelines.

    19:06 I initially didn't like the idea of a multiverse until it was pretty much implied that Sephiorths grand plan seems to be the same as before but on a multiversal scale. That and the concept of world's meeting, parting, merging, etc made the whole situation a lot more palatable as it appears the multiverse will be relevant to the plot.

    So the reason that you don’t feel a connection that the party shares, is simple at that time they don’t have 1
    Remake took place over a course of like 5 days, cloud only joined up with Avalance a few days before that, he knew Aerith for all of 2 days during Remake (one of those days she was a prisoner of Shinra) Barret never met Aerith before the rescue, no one knew Red until the rescue,
    The only characters with history really are Tifa having a history with Barrett, and Tifa having a history with cloud (which mind you see hasn’t seen him in 7 years (as far as she knows)) only to pop up a week before the start of rebirth

    What I didn't like is the convolutedness of everything. The ambiguity. The noncommittedness to all the answers to what happened. Two games in and we got no answers about Sephiroth. Now it's all up to Part 3 to explain everything. And I'm not sure its up to the task. It might not even try.

    Crazy hack theory time, I do believe Cloud at the end is seeing two realities at the same time, one where Aerith lived and one where she died…….however for that ending scene to make sense in such a case, in both timelines both parties have to be around the lake in the forgotten capital mourning……am I the only one who noticed no one really interacts with Tifa? You see Cloud and Aerith look over to her to have her come along and leave the lake……but cloud had one of his episodes beforehand which calls into question the validity of that scene, and the only other time someone acknowledges Tifa is Barrett after he glances up at the sky, seeing nothing (putting that Barrett in the “Aerith is dead timeline”)turns and glances at Tifa in confusion before walking off
    I can just imagine a scene in part 3 where Cloud is remembering the water burial but it’s flickering between the two realities, and the person who is being laid to rest keeps flickering between Tifa and Aerith
    And rather then confront and understand why he is seeing the two women he cares for most being both alive and dead at the same time his mind blocked out seeing either of them die,

    I’m going to be honest I don’t think meteor and holy will come in to play like it did in OG, in both Remake and rebirth we have a final battle with Sephiroth, what happens in the cutscene leading up to the final battle. We see meteor come barreling through the sky……and then it stops and gets absorbed by Sephiroth. I think Sephiroth has a different plan for meteor, even in the OG game everyone kind of questioned if Sephiroths plan was actually possible, not summoning meteor but standing at where meteor hit and absorbing the lifestream that rushes to the impact site. Everyone questions it……and we don’t even get sephiroth or a JENOVA clone saying it will work, just that’s what they are planning on doing

    • @TheEggplantKnight
      @TheEggplantKnight  4 месяца назад

      I kind of agree I think they will play out a little differently. I am probably wrong but I always felt the Black Materia could do more then just summon Meteor. The goal isn't lets hit the planet with a big rock and make it go boom, it is to make everything become part of Jenova so I think the black and white materia and probably even knights the round will all play much different roles.

    "whole big picture/wait til the next game" never a good excuse, if one game can't land it then its very clear its "carrot on a stick" mentality to keep people buying, it'll NEVER land, that's the point - it isn't a thought out three part its all nonsense

  • @raulrojas9253

    Dude Cloud Throwing Sephiroth into the lifestream is not on Disc 1, that's on DISC 2.
    But yes Aerith getting stabbed and pull on the water her burial are not shown and that freaking sucks.
    So you think is well done? To each of their own, I think is shit and is only good when is following the OG story, that was what we wanted FF 7 remake but better graphics, visuals and gameplay, that's literally what a remake should be, not this fucking Sequel.
    Still like the game and for the Jenova pupeting Sephiroth, yeah no. Sephiroth became Jenova by the end of the OG and Jenova became the puppet but only at the very end.

    • @TheEggplantKnight
      @TheEggplantKnight  4 месяца назад

      So far yeah, I think it is an interesting way to add onto something preexisting. If they can stick the landing is huge factor so this could all end up being a big miss still. I think the only reason folks get so heated is because they felt tricked by the name of Remake and it did seem a bit decent full so I get that. While I wouldn't hate a 1:1 for me I would rather see something new with a new take then just the same thing with a fresh coat of paint and mechanics. If the new thing sucks who cares doesn't make the original worse. Honestly if they did a 1:1 I would want to see realism ditched and so a more anime like Persona 5 styling but I could see that get tons of hate as well for turning it into "anime bullshit" always impossible to make everyone happy. Yeah puppet is a bad word for Sephiroth because he is the hivemind he is just influenced by Jenovas goals more or less. Does feel like this new lore though trying set up a bit of a bigger separation to them though.

    20:00 they won't make sense with more parts, that's copium, even Remake doesn't make sense here
    the reality is this game is a mess, never be afraid to be blunt, more over priced chunks of a full game won't make it somehow more complete
    more isn't better its just more, less is more and this game fails it so badly
