The Aerith trial in temple of the antchient made me tear up.
Been watching your videos for years now and it’s so satisfying to hear how much you liked it. I’m 50 hours in and I’m loving it. I’ve been watching your videos for years now and having experienced Remake with content creators like you has been so much fun. Now we get years of Rebirth content while we wait for Part 3. Very happy with this. Hopefully the sales numbers can match the praise.
My biggest complaint with Rebirth is it's over and I did the majority of everything so now I'm in an FF7 drought again. It was too fun and addicting. But in reality that is any FF's fatal flaw. Emergent gameplay and replay-ability. We have a whole ass canonical VR sim and we can't get rogue like elements? That one minor change/addition would take FF7 to the next level. Imagine everything you do builds into Chadley's knowledge banks and you could face randomly/procedurally generated fights, dungeons, and QB/minigame challenges. Hell, even dumb shit like linking SE accounts so I can play FF7R with acquired outfits from Ever Crisis would be fun af. This IP canonically has infinite potential and I'm here for it.
I hope in part 3 we get a Jenova/ Ancients flashback. I want Knights of the round to be actual ancients battling Jenova in the flashback.
Finished with 123h not including the dozens of hours spent on the piano minigame alone. Overall this is one of my favorite games of all time and probably the best FF game ever. Pretty close to perfect.
I finished the game in 90 hours and I don’t know if I’m just blinded by my love for ff7 but I feel like I can give this game a 10/10

I love the Piano mini game, got a perfect score in every song. I’m a musician tho so that probably helps a lot.
I will say I've enjoyed queens blood a lot more than I was expected. I just finished up chapter 11 last night. I had my last match in that chapter some of the cards you have mentioned along with a few other ones that gain points for each card destroyed are very helpful help me win the match 59 to 0
Finished it a day ago. I feel like I need a few days to process the experience. This is one of the biggest single player games I’ve ever played. Overall, this game was a phenomenal experience. I’m happy for everyone who is enjoying the game

Yes, the summons was a bit disappointing, doing the Chadley summon thing was more than cheesy making it way to easy to get them rather than going on a hunt to find, defeat, and make a pact with them. Knights of the Round most definitely better be different.
I honestly thought the Gongaga region was the most interesting mainly because we got another compilation character, Cissnei. They could have also included Katana aka Balto from Before Crisis since he is from Gongaga as well... that was a missed opportunity sadly.
The gameplay is amazing, the battles were great and I loved the mini-games. As a pianist, I can do the piano mini game but not too concerned about it lol.
My biggest gripe with the game was all of this hype about how Zack was going to play a big role and he had hardly any game play. I'm kind of wondering if they cut Zack content as they were worried about purists' opinion? I really hope they change their mind with DLCs because Zack needs some more attention since they hyped him up. They did mention they were definitely going to add more compilation characters. Honestly, they could have made this game even bigger had they included the full compilation but I guess they were too afraid to take that chance.
For example however I was suspicious--- about Broden in Kalm the innkeeper. Minus the fact he doesn't have a mechanical arm he looks a lot like Verdot from Before Crisis. The next example is the commander in Junon in red. She looks like she could be Elena's older sister Emma aka Gun from Before Crisis as well.... Coincidence?

You’re definitely gunna need a specific deck built to battle the final boss of Queen’s Blood….that person is ridiculously tough if u don’t have the right cards

I had to look up a guide so I knew what cards I needed, and after I found the right cards I beat it on like my 2nd try
I finished the game yesterday with 130 hours of gameplay.
I still have a few side quests, mini games and Queensblood to finish. I do not care about 100% the game but there's still lots of things I want to do in chapter select so I am far from done with the game lol.
Btw I found Gongaga pretty easy to travel in, Cosmo Canyon I struggled a little bit with, but all in all I had lots of fun in those areas too. Just use the map and the marker a lot and you'll be fine.
The last 2 chapters were crazy, but very fun crazy. Now I am really looking forward to the third and last part....

I just beat rebirth 110hrs to beat it and I absolutely loved it. Easily 9.8/10 for me would have been 10 if they did summons differently like you said.
Might be a hot take but I loved the final bosses and what they did with that scene, and how it’s setting up for part 3. And I was caught so shocked and emotional when it happened. I’m sure everyone might not feel the same but for me it shocked me again and even the party.
It was surprisingly pleasing despite it having liberties with keeping things faithful and adding things with some minor changes, I guess the only parts that’s disappointing is probably not getting to visit places before getting to that point like the OG FF7 like Bone Village and exploring more of Forgotten Capital, but overall can’t wait to see how it all wraps up in Part 3

Yeah the trials segment really hit me hard. Especially Red, Barret, and Yuffie’s. It kind of saved how weird some parts were in the first half of the game. It got so serious which was very refreshing.

Getting caught up with sidequests is killin' my main story progress. Tryin' to beat Titan at Full Might at Level 17. Love the combat, but I also want to go online and discuss the story.
I Dunno I think i prefer the fights for the summons rather than just having the ability to summon super powerful entities just lying on the ground in the gold saucer. not saying it they couldn't find a way to make it be even better but this is a step up from the OG in my opinion cause at least there's a challenge to getting them. Other than that agree with pretty much everything you said. And the music, My god the music!
They could allow us to fight the Summons in the wild. Why can’t we just stumble upon a Summon in a cave or something? Fight it & obtain the materia. It’s a simple change.
100% with you there David and to add on why not make them quests where we go into the background of the summons and experience cutscenes maybe like shiva fighting along with the cetra to seal Jenova for example.
I loved the atmosphere of each region. It still shocks me that this vision of the VII world exists… but goddamn it is Gongaga a btch to get around. I just used a guide for that area lol I clocked in at 86hrs after story completion. Left some side quests incomplete, and left the protorelics alone after experiencing Fort Condor 😂 that was a welcome surprise, but I just could not get my head around it.
All in all, I enjoyed this game. I’m still meh about the ending and the world had a lot of unnecessaries. We could have easily shaved off 10 hours of padding here
Gongaga was actually my favorite region to explore. I was utterly mindblown by the sense of exploration once I wandered into ruins of a certain civlization. So cool. Chapter 14 though... Oh boy. lol
They're doing too much and going way too crazy. So I'll have to disagree. Though I f-ing love the game overall!
Gameplay was great, but they changed and cut too much from the OG for me. Between that and the 3 hours of side quests to get 5 minutes of story made the story feel thinner than it actually was
you can always skip you're first turn in queensblood thereby effectively going second, that being said while it might feel like a disadvantage, in turn based games going first is pretty much always an advantage at higher levels of play (think Chess or Go, at the highest levels with 2 evenly matched players the one who goes first wins more often than not) or even in something as simple as Tic Tac Toe where a player that knows what they are doing and goes first can only win or tie the best the second player can manage if they play equally well is to force a tie. , i think that's especially true here since it let's you take the initiative and start taking control of the board first, especially against the games A.I. I'd love a mobile app or some way to play this against actual people since the A.I. is really predictable here, about the only time it surprises me is when it intentionally makes really stupid moves cause the Devs didn't want to make it too difficult.

I skipped all of cosmo and nibel just so i could finish the story because i wanted to know how to ended that badly. Then went back and finished all the side stuff.

The Gongaga region had the best atmosphere, but it was also the worst to traverse. The best chocobo is Selena as it is the only actual jump button in the game. The piano minigame was okayish, but I also lack the dexterity to use both hands okay for it. The trials were awesome, Barret and Aerith especially. You can turn off the Zack parts after you have completed the game. The ending was not fun, not shocking, not emotional invoking except perhaps eye rolling.
I dont know how they did it. But i NEVER liked card games in my Rpgs. But queens blood is one of my favorite things about this game. And i think i have to thank Red XII for that! 😆
Maybe I'm getting old, but Rebirth is giving me Ubisoft-itis. First 2 regions great, then the terrain gets a bit wacky, I'm starting to "get it" like these same 5 objectives aren't surprising anymore, then basic stuff like the towers having more and more "things you hold L up and wait" to get to the top. Heh, fantastic game for the scripted bits though!
All those things were optional, the story bits and everything that was in the original game was amazing. Some added things were great, and you are old. We have all played way to many games since 1997 and nothing feels new now. Nothing new under the sun. Doesn't feel ubi soft like to me because I don't play them lmao. Last game I played was far cry 3. I have far cry 4, 4.5, 4.75 and even the last one. I never even opened them. Got them used for buy 4 used games for 20 bucks at game stop. I think they're at assassin creed part 20 now and at least far cry part 10 lmao

Make sure you equip materia on every character else the last fight is bs doesn't give you time to re-equip lol and you can't pick who you fight with

The only other RPG card game I have ever been forced first every time in was Pazak in KOTOR. They realized that was stupid as shit though because in KOTOR2 they changed it.

I liked most of the side quests. But I think there was way too many Chadley quests. They needed to cut it down.... or put half of them in hard mode, so that you can progress the story and complete the regions.
We got to help our friends who are being ambushed... oh an Owl... oh let me chase this baby chocobo... these stones, must be a summon shrine around.... what was I doing again?
Similarly I avoid spoiler videos by early players like full time game reviewers. Allowed to get spoils of highlights such as date scenes. Can only reach midway cuz only couple hrs free on working weekdays. Agree that regions like Gongaga have too much complicated vertical env mandatory to progress story. Instead could’ve allowed little more time for go around optional paths to ensure progress although might be repetitive. SE can simply fix the formulas of env lightning to objects esp characters.
I agree with a lot that you had to say with how you feel about gameplay and game itself. Haven't beaten it yet, but gotten fairly far. I already know what happens from watching spoilers purposely. You think you'll do a spoiler video and talking about wtf you think the ending means etc.?

I approach the remake trilogy as though an incomplete or unfinished REMAKE and basically enter a state of dissociation when the time jannie bullshit starts up. You know kind of like Cloud when he gets headaches and blacks out. Thats the only way to get through this shit.
I was loving it until I got upto the final bosses, got game over after seeing the climax of the story and now I've lost all enthusiasm to finish it.

You can def be at 70 if you’re doing all the side stuff. I did to a certain point but eventually saved it for later to complete the story. Doing all the extra stuff not on new game +.
One complaint I got is I hate the way they do summons I want to do shit and earn three respect and get them also I hate how they are a side note use I prefer a one time cast deal heavy damage they can do it where you can level the summon materia and as you do u get different summon attacks that deal more damage and or add different buffs they need make summons more then one dimensionl and honestly I felt by the time you summon them they are really not needed at least from my experience
Yeah i got really burnt out from tis game but forced myself to do everything i could, topo many dumb ass minigames and i agree, gongaga was annoying to figure out how to reach certain areas.

3:15 lol gongaga was a pain in the ass to play through it took me like half hour to find the way to the reactor when i was tired and ended at dead ends which ever way i went then go chocobo with tifa's rescue bouncing on mushrooms and I'm there in like a minute lol.

I dunno how u make Chocobo Racing worse than it was 25 years ago it's not the worst minigame but i find it worse than the old ff7 chocobo racing feels more like mario kart and none of the chocobos u get really feel any faster.

Rebirth is a 7/10 at its best and a 3/10 at its worst. Peaked at chapter 4 and downhill from there. From Gongaga onwards was complete trash.

the mix between action and ATB not that good in FF7 Rebirth and don't get me started on "the scanning" in ff7 rebirth it's very boring, , if i want to play turn base game i will play dragon age or baldur's gate, and if i want action I PREFER to play FF16..

My favorite parts of the game were Temple of the Ancients, Corel/Gold Saucer, Gongaga, and how they handled Zack’s character.
My biggest gripe with the game (SPOILERS)
Sephiroth’s explanation of how the multiple worlds worked, I felt was very generic multiverse / fate stuff, and didn’t really seem to tie in well with the established lore of FF7 and the Lifestream. Hopefully they address it more deeply in part 3.
Yeah hopefully in part 3 they go into more depth about a certain alien that has the ability to weave dreams/illusions and that being the cause of all these Dreamworlds aka timelines that they are actually just that, dreams then it would make sense with straying too far from og.
We have og timeline (real timeline and Dreamworld timelines. Just me coping though maybe.
