Oh man another theory just popped into my head. It's implied that the tears appear on realities that are 'ending'......and maybe since Cloud is basically a multiverse traveler now, he can see the tear on his world before it forms? More importantly, if we are now in a 'fractured reality' where did it fracture? Where was the last divergence point we saw? The deflecting of the sword! So could the implication BE that the world the Rebirth crew is shown to be on, the one where she died is destined to 'end'. Now, maybe it will avoid that fate by merging with another reality (Zack's maybe?) but what does that do to the world? What does that mean to the other world where she lived?! AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I think what will happen if there is a merge, one world might have to go away. I have a feeling these other realities will no longer exist after Sephiroth is gone. After all, in these other realities, because Aerith gave the white materia to Cloud, that could set up events where the other worlds don't stand a chance against meteor. The question to ask is which VERSION of Aerith survives if any at all. "Prime" Aerith dies and that's the timeline the game is progressing through. She comes out of the Lifestream briefly to help fight Sephiroth. "Deflection" Aerith may or may not be the Aerith Cloud talks to before leaving with the group. Finally, there's comatose Aerith in Zack's timeline. Throughout this, there's a moment when one version of Aerith gives Cloud a white Materia which he gives to another Aerith after the first Aerith pushes him through a portal. This would seem to indicate Cloud returning Aerith's memories back to her. I would imagine that they're all unique yet connected due to her being a Cetra. Heck, for all we know, the Aerith Cloud was talking to before he went to rescue her in the first game maybe an overarching version of herself that connects all of them together.

In a recent update, they changed the final line of FF7 Remake from "'I miss it, the steel sky", to "The sky, I don't like it." ~ That definitely heavily implies that Aerith could already see the rift in the sky at the end of Remake. Given that Cloud can now see it after traveling through timelines, coupled with her knowledge of future events throughout Remake really suggests that she IS the original Aerith from the original 1997 game (she travelled between timelines to get here, which is why she can see the rift). This also makes a lot of her lines about the future being written but still being able to change make a bit more sense - She can't remember any more because of whispers, but she can see that their world is doomed (from the rift in the sky) and still wants to fight to save it. I think they have gone the multiverse route with this story so that they can add new stuff without destroying the old story and continuity of the original FF7 and Advent Children. With this story as it stands, it seems like all of the original games (I guess you could call it the no Stamp timeline) all still happened. I'm really hoping they tie in an event from the original FF7 compilation timeline (presumably after the end of Dirge of Cerberus) which created the 'main' timeline we have been playing this whole time.

They are also in OG FF7, they are just invisible because they would not look good on those graphics. I can literally prove they existed in OG FF7 with the Aerith Sleeping Forest scene. Even the Secret Aerith in church post her death are proof that Aerith lives on after dying, even if its a different version of her from another world. The fact they doubled down on materia having knowledge in memories in it, Aerith lost hers and holy was empty, but her memories could be passed on back to her from another universe, ie the not empty holy in sleeping forest, is huge. Next. Time travel, going to the past, and so on are not new. Its in the OG FF7, and theres even a clock mini game to represent it. These concepts are just made more explicit, obvious, and expanded upon in the trilogy.
I also want to add that Aerith has her own version of the Whispers. In the Livestream, you have the white whispers (controlled by Aerith) vs the black whispers (controlled by Sephiroth). During Tifa's cutscene where she's inside the Weapon, you noticed the white whispers protected the Weapon from Sephiroth's sword. I think we're going to see the whispers play a role in how we repair Cloud's mind. In the OG, Aerith protected Tifa from the mako. So i assume she'll play that role again.

They made it so complicated.. og was very simple and easy to understand .epic final boss and Prety emotional still. Maybe she died but can still come and talk to the party members sometimes. Maybe cloud is hallucinating seeing her but shes really dead im guessing
Technology was simple in 1997. Kitase himself said alot of floated ideas back then couldn't be implemented in the OG when the remake trilogy was announced. These changes/additions don't surprise me in the least because of that.
the Aerith multiverse is the least confusing part honestly. Though I wasn't sure if Aerith was talking to Cloud from an alternate timeline or if she was talking to him spiritually via the lifestream. The part that's most confusing to me is the Zack parts. Especially confused how Zack and Aerith ended up in the chopper. What happened to them to get there? Or maybe this isn't answered until the 3rd part. Or is this a carry on from Crisis Core/ Reunion, which I didn't play. Maybe someone who understands the lore better can explain this better. And hopefully, in a perfect scenario, maybe they'll save a version of both Zack and Aerith so that all of the heroes survive in the finale... But this multiverse scenario also opens up the potential for all these Sephiroth versions, which could explain why we as players keep having to kill Sephiroth repeatedly
All i will say is there is precedence for the multiple worlds existing in the og. Look at the scene where tifa is in the lifestream with cloud helping him regain his memories and look at the background and what surrounds nibelheim. There are a multitude of worlds and the tear we see in the sky in rebirth my guess is they are now making those worlds a part of the story. So for all those saying that they are making stuff up there you go. Its been there since the og.
i think i understand much better after intensively researching this over-compilcated ending Let me share my theory of this crazy ending! there must be 3 DIFFERENT timelines with 4 small branches we know so far. So the A timeline is the main reality and where aerith is dead as cloud failed to stop sephorith. however we see a short clip of the long sword hits through the floor with no blood. I believe that implies that cloud actually did save aerith in different timeline which could be in "C" where zack is not in...for now in the A(beagle dog) and C or D? timeline, cloud's team arrives so late after the wall of whispers vanished. This is the most important moment, i believe so. why? when in A, the team is running toward the altar and seeing aerith dying next to cloud. (tragic ending) while in C, they could be running toward the altar and seeing aerith, as usual, is greetin them with iconic smile besides cloud. (happy ending) and biggs should be in the same timeline as them what about B? its where zack is alive and take caring of cloud, marlene, aertith, elymra and biggs. Zack created three small branches of the B (terrier dog). when he had to make a decision whichever does he must save first: --- B,1(still terrier branch) go to shinra's HQ in attempt to save cloud ---B,2 (pug branch) stop biggs from bombing the reactor ---B,3 and/or 4? (shiba inu? spritz branch) zach goes to the church in sector 5 after failing to make a decision . Also i think=thats where the dream date is taken in too? because we watched how cloud is pushed back into light void and glancing sephorith enters the church after sending zack into a dark void which later will be fighting along with cloud briefly. what do u think? lastly, sephorith final boss appeared in three different universe: A- cloud's team except cloud. after winning the battle, the scene returns to the same scene where the team and cloud run toward the altar and see lifeless aerith lying on the cold floor. In cloud's perspective, he can see the white whisper around aerith. it shows they are in the A universe.
B- Zack in the ruined church and later was sent to another universe by aerith's white whisper. Yes, seems they are under the control of her power ( will reveal his location in part 3) C-2- Cloud and Aerith----i really think she is alive. now imagine yourself, after winning the battle against Sephroith monster. Cloud and aerith returns to the altar and greets the team members with smile. see the connection? conclusively, if we see the beagle dog and white whispers, that means we are likely in the main reality. if we see black whispers and different stamp dogs, that means we are likely in alternative realites with no aerith's involvement. What do i mean by aerith's involvement? white whispers sometimes show up when; --- it tries to keep the original tracks in the main universe such as when barret was stabbed by sephroith. ( square enix might be forgetting to change the color of the white whisper) ----it appears as Aerith joins cloud's battle against sephroith -- it appears when zack falls down in the void in ruined church....under the control of aerith's power, i believe so. what do you think about my theory?!
At first, when I saw what took place in the ending I first thought KH series. But as I took notes and researched. It reminded me more sore of how FF14 stories handle its multi-verse in a way. If you have played the ff14 you'll know that two sources of its conflict involve Eikons Haydelyn and Zodiark both represent the yin and yang of its world. Much like Aerith in the OG time FF7, she was always fated to die. When I played Remake again I noticed the same scene of her death flashed during the event when we fought the whispers in Remake. Then when were given a glimpse of the dark ending of OG ff7. Where Red Xlll explained that outcome. When we heated the whispers it was speculated that the main arbiters when Inded Cloud, Tifa, Barret, and redxlll. But this ending makes sense that part 3 will start with black materia destroying earth underlying all realities. Having us becoming Arbiters of fate. Since it was revealed that Seph was not a central But possibly a descendant of the GI tribe. Basically in FF14 ARR the world reels from an event known as the Underling which shattered the world's reality into different worlds. If we take that concept and apply it Remake and rebirth you could say that OG ff7 ending causes underlying realities to form as a result. That is why there are different realities that formed when we deleted Sephiroth in Remake vs Rebirth. Could it be the real Sephiroth exists in another reality? I believe part will be a huge departure from og disc 3 ff7. Also the reason why the FF7 crisis core reunion was dubbed that name. It was leaked a while back that we would be getting a Crisis Core sequel before part 3. But here is hoping we get a solid conclusion to this series.
2:55 *Technically this Jenova disguised as Sephiroth cause Cloud killed the real Sephiroth when he flung him into the Nibel reactor... i guess it was the Mako storage area after he went on the rampage destroying Nebilheim, killing his mom and critically wounding Tifa. Ok THANK YOU for this though... I was way to emotional to play though this again... till someone explained WTF is going on?
I've, actually, compiled a list of evidence for myself to explain whether or not Aerith is dead. It's a list that covers a lot more than just the topics you covered. So, I'll post it only if you're interested in reading it. But, one evidence that I think you'll find of interested because of how much it intertwines with your theory is being called a rainbow patter in some RUclips comments. Basically, in the moment when Cloud deflects Sephiroth's sword, a rainbow patter emanates. This same rainbow patter is present in several of Zack's timelines. Another video gets more in-depth into this rainbow effect along with a bunch of other evidence: ruclips.net/video/GlAGDZ2FCfc/видео.html Long story short, Zack dies in two of the three timelines. The only one he doesn't die in is when he heads to the church with the flowerbed. As such, we started debating which Aeriths where from what. It was decided that the Aerith who came back during the fight against Sephiroth was the good Whisperers bringing Aerith back from the Lifestream. (Although, they bring her through a rainbow portal. So, make of that what you will.) The Aerith Cloud saw before the group left was the Aerith existing in the "Deflection" reality. Lastly, the still unconscious Aerith. When Zack has a conversation with Marlene, she describes Sephiroth without probably ever having seen him and mentions that Cloud needs to wake up before Aerith so that he can protect her from Sephiroth because Sephiroth will come when Aerith wakes up. As for the Aerith who gave him the Materia that was still white only for him to give that to another Aerith, I have no idea what that's supposed to mean other than Aerith aludes to Cloud "meeting her future self". However, another post suggested that it was Aerith's future self giving him a still-white Materia, pushing him through one of the rainbow portals to the past, and he ended up in a forest to give Aerith's past-self the white Materia where she "thanks him for returning it" so that she would have her memories again. I can only assume that this was Aerith using Cloud as a conduit to not only help him but return her memories to her past self....somehow. Maybe it has to do with her being a Cetra.
The way I see it is that the OG Aerith exists similar to sephiroth, in the life stream or between worlds at some point or another. There was a book or something talking about Sephiroth fighting against Aerith to infect the life stream. That could also be the nature of the black and white whispers in rebirth. Now my guess is that prior to the arbiters defeat, Sephiroth cannot change fate or kill the Aerith’s from all the possible time lines. After the fight with the whispers Aerith said she felt she lost her memories, my guess is that she lost her connection with OG Aerith. OG Aerith went into her sleeping state to hide from Sephiroth, so when she wakes from her sleep Sephiroth appears shortly after to kill her. She only wakes up at the right time to give cloud the white materia knowing that the other her will need it. Ofcourse we see her pushing cloud back to his world and Sephiroth appear to kill her shortly after. Sephiroth most likely does kill the Aerith in that world, but fails to kill the OG consciousness. When cloud reappears in the sleeping forest, the Aerith he meets is either one that knows what is going on due to reconnecting with OG Aerith, or one with Og Aerith’s consciousness merged, because she says “we meet again” and also she isn’t surprised to see cloud having a white materia and she also knows what it does. The previous Aerith did not think the white materia had a significance besides being a keepsake. The reason Sephiroth says “I’ve underestimated you” when OG Aerith appears to help cloud in the final fight is because he thought that he killed her in that timeline. That Aerith may even be the one that was in the Marlene time line, which is different than the one that gave cloud the white materia. But if her consciousness can travel between worlds connected by the lifestream it makes sense. Dunno how Marlene came to know about sephiroth though. There’s some other odd bits, like Zack had to have traveled between timelines instead of just creating a new one by surviving. Why? Because the Marlene and Biggs in that timeline know cloud. But the cloud that is with him obviously never met them. So even if Zack had created a new timeline by surviving the world he inhabits should be one where Marlene and and Biggs never met cloud, that only leaves us with Zack having traversed worlds at the point of his initial survival. Possibly Biggs as well since they mention their sense of time being out of wack. There’s also the last cutscene where Ghost aerith mentions stopping meteor, meteor is never mentioned at any other time in remake/rebirth. Only shown in the visions of the world end. That tells us two things, one is that this aerith is not the same one or atleast she regained the memories she lost of things she wasn’t supposed to know, and it tells us that she isn’t just clouds imagination because cloud at this point still seems to have no idea about meteor or that it is summoned by the black materia. It is a bit odd for cloud to not ask her about meteor though, but they seem to do that a lot. You could argue that cloud knows about meteor since he didn’t question her. Or maybe he just made the connection with the vision at that point and didn’t question it . There’s really a lot of unanswered questions, I think they didn’t on purpose . You wouldn’t see all this theory crafting if it was straight forward, and I do think a sense of mystery is necessary but they probably overdid it a bit with this ending.
@@JSkeleton Yes and no. Nomura has spoken in a few interviews about how he originally wanted the story to be told as it was originally written. Kitase and Nojima were the ones that wanted to change things up. Also as Creative Director, he oversees on the world design, character design, and the creative aspects of the game itself. People often mistake Creative Director as someone who is *directing* the narrative. Producer is a much more influential position with regards to the narrative of a story. Especially since Kitase is the original creator. So Kitase is really more at fault. Nojima as the lead writer is basically working with Kitase on this. Nomura has had little to do with the story. Kitase and Nojima are the ones directing the narrative, while Nomura is executing the narrative as directed. The order of responsibility is likely as follows: Kitase has ideas. Nojima writes the ideas. Nomura makes sure the game reflects the ideas being written.
Imagine the final boss fight in game 3, Seifer Sephiroth summons comet and you have a time limit to beat him. You hear aeriths voice one last time say her prayers were answered. A portal opens up and you see the buster sword start to come though first and then he steps in, purple outfit Cloud (and possibly the rest of the original crew) and says “stay where you belong, in OUR memories” and you and him whoop Sephiroth’s @$$ to kingdom come 😮
Except she doesn't die in the Main world. Tifa had static and saw both worlds. One, Aerith is covered in blood. Two, Cloud blocked Sephiroth and Aerith isn't harmed. Now, here's how you know which is which. Seph needed to force Cloud and company into the World Between Worlds with the key to get the black materia. This happened right when Tifa saw static. The WBW Temple is not on the Northern continent, only in the Main. The WBW is the OG game. That is why Aerith seems dead. Cloud understands it's an illusion.
I’d like redemption as a third arch if it’s the final one. So cloud can redeem Himself, and the writers can redeem themselves for leaving us with so many damn questions also for that chicken side quest.

To me there is still one timeline and one worlds, things happens just because there are time displacements, main prove is Biggs that meets Zack is the same Biggs in remake. And stamp dog thing to me they are just different flavour of chips😅, when Zack choose the path on the wall it’s the same stamp as in remake main game. Don’t forget in a dream all npc behave normally, Zack is just dreaming just merging with lifestream, he cannot fully merge because he was also treated with jenova cell like any other black robe.

Its been there since the og.
i think i understand much better after intensively researching this over-compilcated ending
Let me share my theory of this crazy ending!
there must be 3 DIFFERENT timelines with 4 small branches we know so far. So the A timeline is the main reality and where aerith is dead as cloud failed to stop sephorith. however we see a short clip of the long sword hits through the floor with no blood. I believe that implies that cloud actually did save aerith in different timeline which could be in "C" where zack is not in...for now
in the A(beagle dog) and C or D? timeline, cloud's team arrives so late after the wall of whispers vanished.
This is the most important moment, i believe so. why?
when in A, the team is running toward the altar and seeing aerith dying next to cloud. (tragic ending)
while in C, they could be running toward the altar and seeing aerith, as usual, is greetin them with iconic smile besides cloud. (happy ending)
and biggs should be in the same timeline as them
what about B? its where zack is alive and take caring of cloud, marlene, aertith, elymra and biggs.
Zack created three small branches of the B (terrier dog). when he had to make a decision whichever does he must save first:
--- B,1(still terrier branch) go to shinra's HQ in attempt to save cloud
---B,2 (pug branch) stop biggs from bombing the reactor
---B,3 and/or 4? (shiba inu? spritz branch) zach goes to the church in sector 5 after failing to make a decision . Also i think=thats where the dream date is taken in too? because we watched how cloud is pushed back into light void and glancing sephorith enters the church after sending zack into a dark void which later will be fighting along with cloud briefly. what do u think?
lastly, sephorith final boss appeared in three different universe:
A- cloud's team except cloud. after winning the battle, the scene returns to the same scene where the team and cloud run toward the altar and see lifeless aerith lying on the cold floor. In cloud's perspective, he can see the white whisper around aerith. it shows they are in the A universe.
B- Zack in the ruined church and later was sent to another universe by aerith's white whisper. Yes, seems they are under the control of her power
( will reveal his location in part 3)
C-2- Cloud and Aerith----i really think she is alive. now imagine yourself, after winning the battle against Sephroith monster. Cloud and aerith returns to the altar and greets the team members with smile. see the connection?
conclusively,
if we see the beagle dog and white whispers, that means we are likely in the main reality.
if we see black whispers and different stamp dogs, that means we are likely in alternative realites with no aerith's involvement.
What do i mean by aerith's involvement?
white whispers sometimes show up when;
--- it tries to keep the original tracks in the main universe such as when barret was stabbed by sephroith.
( square enix might be forgetting to change the color of the white whisper)
----it appears as Aerith joins cloud's battle against sephroith
-- it appears when zack falls down in the void in ruined church....under the control of aerith's power, i believe so.
what do you think about my theory?!
Another video gets more in-depth into this rainbow effect along with a bunch of other evidence:
ruclips.net/video/GlAGDZ2FCfc/видео.html
Long story short, Zack dies in two of the three timelines.
Nomura didnt write the story. Nojima did.
That’s my bad BUT to be fair Nomura being a creative director still has a voice in it all🤷🏻♂️
@@JSkeleton Yes and no.
You make the ending sound so easy 🙂
Multiverse crap was a mistake.
Name for part 3....Revive, Reunion, or Relive?
I’d like redemption as a third arch if it’s the final one. So cloud can redeem
Himself, and the writers can redeem themselves for leaving us with so many damn questions also for that chicken side quest.
Nomura didn't write Rebirth... he was the Creative Director 🤦♂️... look up what that entails in Japan. Nojima is the lead writer on both titles..
Just like Masao Kato wasn't the scenario writer in CT and they still put him as that in the credits. What is your point? It is evident all the Kingdom Hearts BS here came from Nomura regardless of what he is credited with.
Maybe the empty materia is a reset the worlde and merge it into 1 again and this is how the whisps ghosts dissapear forever
I’m fine with multiverses it’s just this is just messy, (I’m still confused if Aerith is dead in the rebirth timeline and if she is how?) at this point I wouldn’t be surprised if you were fighting sephiorth forms in like 12 different timelines simultaneously but they blended in to make it seem like the rebirth timeline
You said see into different dimensions and then corrected it to realms. I think I like that correction. We don't know really and realms fits better given everyone and their mothers are doing different timelines and universes. Realms feels better.
realms of reality where things played out differently or somethings in those realms aren't even realities yet.
So Aerith is now a shroediger cat. Let's hope she won't grow whiskers in the Livestream 😂😂
Normura didn’t direct this one!
My bad, he was creative director, not lead, but still, he had a large part and voice in it nonetheless haha
@@JSkeletonNomura originally wanted to do a faithful remake, split into three parts. But Kitase and Nojima wanted to do something different. Specifically Kitase who wanted to reinvent the series. They eventually convinced Nomura. Nomura has been focused on the production and creative aspects of things. Nojima, with Kitase's influence is more responsible for the altered story that we are now witnessing.
People need to stop picking on Nomura...
The ending was ass
So glad i don't have to play this game. They ruined a good story.
its essentially the same just the stakes are higher lmao
It’s the same story just enriched and more fleshed out, and as keysuperset said in response to you, higher stakes lol
@JSkeleton Contine pretending is good writing smh... So genius omg WOW!!! 😅
Nothing is ruined here. It’s a good story that is made even better. It doesn’t hve to be the same as the original to be good.
I'm glad you don't have to play the game either. Would be weird to be forced to play something you don't like. Although it begs the question as to why you are here on a video about the ending of a story you not only don't like, but didn't play? I assume you have plenty of time on your hands? Or maybe you like crying in the ocean about your personal feelings? Either way, your comment is baseless and pointless. Congrats.
