    The last scene is basically Hideaki Anno showing that his wife got him out of depression and that he's leaving Evangelion behind because it was a huge part of his live but part of a really depressive moment of his live, so he wants to move on

      Hideki already said that Mari does not represent his wife irl

      Holy. Imagine HIdeaki saying this isn't true for so long just so people keep saying this is what it means years later. oof.

      Yeah i keep thinking about that, even Anno-sensei said the opposite, yeah, maybe what he said is not truly 100% true,
      All i know is that Mari is a new character that "invented" during their meeting with another staff while in rebuild project, and Anno-sensei's wife is the person who helped him through his depression, yeah, maybe he just doesn't want to be explicit 😂 to share that 😂

    Gendo on the therapy train is one of the best thing about this movie. His conclusion with Shinji finally closed off their long-last conflict in the whole franchise in the good note. My problem in the whole Rebuild is Mari character herself because i think her relationship with Shinji doesnt have enough built up to feel satisfied when they are together in the end. However, Shinji finally found his happiness is really heartwarming that ends the franchise in the best way possible. The keyword is “sincere”, thats what i feel about this movie.

    • @DenverSenpai
      @DenverSenpai  4 месяца назад +3

      It was very unexpected to see Gendo finally behaving like a human-being with his own tragedy and thoughts of his deeds, ironically it happened already after he allegedly rejected his humanity

      Hideki Anno ruined it ...by injecting himself in the story .
      Why couldn't Gendo and Yui rebuild the World without commiting double suicide ??

    • @Faynwulf
      @Faynwulf 3 месяца назад

      @@peekaboopeekaboo1165 Anno has literally been injected in the story from the beginning. It's literally his story. He has always been part of Shinji and Shinji has always been part of himself. So that's a really stupid argument.

      Actually Mari have lot of sense, she represent the external and caotic world of reality, the director wife in the real world, the person who help him get out of depression.

    Thank you guys for this journey through Evangelion👏👏👏, you really had the guts to start through this show, probably one of the most dense on a narrative level, I congratulate you for that.

    45:22 you probably won't see this however, the reason her plug suit is all torn and stuff is because she rapidly aged (Because of the eva curse being lifted) so the suit wouldn't fit her anymore, this is also supported by the fact her hair has grown out.

    It definitely helps to rewatch it with more knowledge and context. Not sure I love this one as much as End of Evangelion or Evangelion 3.33, but it's still great... and the music. It's so so so so so good.

    Thanks for the reaction! What i got from the movie was that the director Hideaki Anno, is trying to convey to us that he is fine now and that it's ok to move on with our lives as well.
    After about 3 years now since the movie released, i do feel like it would've been better if it was split into 2 movies to set a better pacing for it with more scenes. Maybe i just miss evangelion and didn't want it to end. I hope it comes back in some form!

      It felt the way, that author was saying goodbye to the show of his entire life, and he wanted to make happy end for it, which turned out to be a very wholesome ending!

    I've really enjoyed your Eva reactions. Have you considered reacting to "Nadia, the secret of blue water"? Hideaki Anno worked on that series before Evangelion, and Eva was originally written as a sequel to Nadia- highly reccomend you check it out, as it is really cool to see the seeds of of what would become Eva being sown!

      It's definitely worth it! The series stands on it's own, but the Evangelion connections are a highlight- and seeing them unfold as the series progresses is really cool. It's development clearly shaped the end product of what would become Evangelion greatly!

    If this were another franchise, I'd say it's a mediocre ending. But, considering everything !!!!!!!!! that happens throughout the entire Evangelion franchise, I consider this ending veeeeeeery nice.👌👍

    Mari is the representation of directors wife as many pointed down in the comments, also Asuka represent fans desires and objetivation of womans ofc, Asuka is one of the most popular anime female ever created, a culture icon but also a sex simbol, we never let Asuka grow, therefore her "curse". When Shinji free her, you see her in the beach in her real age, with the suitplug barely holding her grow up body XD... Back in EoE movie, Kaworu and Rei explain what they are, both are Adam and Lilith souls, Kaworu is love and Rei is hope as concepts. And as a pair their are the words "I love you" that are needed to fullfill solitude. The rest of your concusions are very accurate, no much to add, the message of this movie is clear, lets say "goodbye to evangelion". A fair and actually very nice ending for all, us the fans and the people who created the series.

      @@DenverSenpai I liked the part were you got the connection in the swap scene betwen Gendo and Kaworu as commander. No reactors i have seen noted that and thats why i tried to fill a few of the unawnsered questions. Luckie for us there lots of translated Evangelion behind the scenes histories and Hideaki Anno himself explore it in lots of videos and interviews on the why Evangelion ended like that. People say Eva is the most influential anime ever made, and is for a reason. My humble suggestion is you check out Shin Godzilla movie, its the why the rebuild too so many years betwen movie 3-4. XD.

    Clearly the movies don't give too much information about Mari. That said, she appears in an extra chapter of the Manga adaptation, being introduced as Yui's co-worker and friend. So she should be around the same age as Shinji's mother.
    I appreciate the fact that you have completed the Rebuilds. 😄Personally, the last two movies have disappointed me. But of course, it would have been difficult to reach the level of narrative quality of the original series.

    • @DenverSenpai
      @DenverSenpai  4 месяца назад +2

      Then Mari's relationship with Shinji is even more questionable haha, it's hard to keep the quality of the original series, that's for sure, we are glad that they were not afraid to break some characters and even the main story in order to show something new!
