Welcome to our reaction to the REBUILD story of human-made machines (known as Evangelions) battling beings known as 'Angels' to decide the fate of humanity.
When 3.0 came out in 2012 (home release in 2013), there were a lot of mixed reactions to it, people had a lot of time to sit on it, think about it and speculate on what it all means. We had to wait about 9 years until 3.0+1.0 came out in 2021 and that felt like a really long time. Surprising it has great rewatchability since it was so mysterious and the story went in a totally different direction. I grew to like it a lot after many rewatches and it was hell wondering when the next movie was gonna come out. RUclips changed a lot during those years with reviewers coming and going giving their takes on the movie. Eventually the thoughts of Eva slowly left the minds of people until the hype returned when the final movie was announced. That was a fun time for a while. Thanks for the reaction! Love how you both empathized with Shinji.
This film makes me mad because if ANYONE explained to Shinji what was going on nothing bad would have happened. Wille are afraid of him so they don't talk to him to keep him under control but that fails, Nerve is using Shinji as a tool as always. The only person that tried to explain was Kaworu. THE ONLY ONE. And even that ultimately failed because he didn't tell enough. I can understand why, Shinji needs time to process and he didn't have any. Only 1 character out of 6 tried to talk and explain. ONE
Some say that it is the weakest and most meaningless film in the franchise, but at least it pointed everything in another direction and prepared everything for the next film, which is the best in my opinion.
It felt like movie directors were criticized for the first movie being basically a re-master of the original show, so they forced the evangelion author to do something crazy for the second movie and got themselves to the situation where they had no idea what to do with that lol... so the best they got was "Let's just do a time skip and see how it goes" haha
@@kuhpunkt The film was so poorly critiqued that he nearly killed himself. Therefore, it took him almost 10 years before he completed his next and final film, during which time he did voice acting for a Ghibli movie, The Wind Rises (2013), and made a Godzilla movie, Shin Godzilla (2016).
@@ihatepiano9868 Anno has struggled with depression for a while, long before he even made those movies. And I still don't think he wants to pander to fans and give them what they want, but what he thinks they need. He wanted to say something.
That could be, sometimes it is hard to understand from comments :) But we enjoyed it for the most part, not the worst out of 4 movies in our opinion for sure
