skrie I read up to maybe.. halfway through The Two Towers and skipped to the last half of RotK. The book, at least for me, became really stale during Towers. Granted, I think I was like 13 when I was reading it, but I can only imagine trying to power-read through them before the movie, it had to be tiring. I'm a big fan of Tolkien, and I generally enjoy fantasy, but Two Towers is probably what killed LotR for me.
hematite2 No. There are multiple Khaleesi of the the Dothraki sea but there is only one Daenerys Targaryen, Stormborn, The Unburnt, Mother of Dragons, Queen of the andals, the Roynar, and First men, Khaleesi of the Dothraki sea
As for Lord of the Rings I actually enjoyed the movies more, since the books are a bit hard to read. But I prefer the book to the Hobbit over the movies (because they keep adding stuff to the original script that isn't in the book). But if it comes to Harry Potter I manage to like the books and the movies equally, since I perceive them as separate works of art.
This is perfect, haha. I don't watch game of thrones but I relate to the book being better. I read the whole Darren shan saga and when they released the movie I was excited but only to have my dreams crushed and stepped on. The book has gore, and adult violence and so much awesomeness locked into 12 books and than a movie came out that was rated for children, CHILDREN no heads getting ripped off, not people dying, it was a disappointment and it pissed me off.
Robby Mixon Does this mean you don't have the right to watch the series as long as you didn't read the books? Or is this a rant about the ppl pissing you off talking about the series while you already know? I've been reading lots of books being made to movies or series later. ten years later, I wake up completely randomly with this song in my head.
The brilliant part is where he's like "LOTR... the books where... probably better"... because seriously... that's not entirely certain.
Yeah, LOTR was probably the only adaptation when the films can be as good as the books. :P
skrie There are two interpretations.
1: He actually hasn't read them.
2: He is uncertain if they are better.
I vote for 2. I tried to read the books before the movie came out. I could't get through the damn tome.... Then the moves came out...and I was like... is that really in those books??? I read the books all the way through... nope...they are still not for me.
skrie I read up to maybe.. halfway through The Two Towers and skipped to the last half of RotK. The book, at least for me, became really stale during Towers. Granted, I think I was like 13 when I was reading it, but I can only imagine trying to power-read through them before the movie, it had to be tiring.
I'm a big fan of Tolkien, and I generally enjoy fantasy, but Two Towers is probably what killed LotR for me.
skrie Oh it's certain. Jackson is no Tolkien.
Another thing to rant about: "HER NAME IS NOT KHALEESI! PAY A-FUCKING-TTENTION!"
Also "his name is Jon not John Snow"
Her name is not Khaleesi, but it's still perfectly valid to call her Khaleesi, coming from someone who adores the books and watches the show.
hematite2 No. There are multiple Khaleesi of the the Dothraki sea but there is only one Daenerys Targaryen, Stormborn, The Unburnt, Mother of Dragons, Queen of the andals, the Roynar, and First men, Khaleesi of the Dothraki sea
Still not got the next farking book AAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!
“6 year wait for a dance with dragons” gets funnier every year. Sweet summer child
Indeed.
I almost didn't click this but im really glad i did
"What the fuck is with movies based on board games?
Battleship-The Movie
D-9. I sunk your battleship!
Movie Over !!
FUCK OFF !!"
Hahahahaha
Had no idea where you were going ...... then .... I READ THE FUCKING BOOKS .... ROFL ... CLASSIC.
Yeah ö.ö !
The manga version of the series is a million times better than the movie
I suggest you read it if you enjoy manga or anime at all
Feels. I was so excited about the movie, what a major let down. I hope they leave The Demonata alone...
#READFUCKINGBOOKS!!!!!!!
Robby Mixon Does this mean you don't have the right to watch the series as long as you didn't read the books? Or is this a rant about the ppl pissing you off talking about the series while you already know? I've been reading lots of books being made to movies or series later. Some good, some worse, who cares. Otherwise I saw many movies or series made of books I didn't read. Also I've been reading books I wished someone would have made a movie of those.
oubie2 People read books, but maybe not the same as you do.
They make a valid point with lack of imagination
6 years? We are waiting of The Winds of Winter for 10 fucking years. And it's still not done...
Wheel of Time show is going to be released on amazon in 12 hours.. and oh god on one hand I cant wait for it, but on the other hand - this is so true :D
HOLLYWOOD CAN NOT LIVE UP TO THE POWER OF YOUR IMAGINATION!
my new mantra :D
Posted on my 21st birthday, eh? A birthday present I didn't even know I had.
