Those brothers loved each other. It was plain to see. Dennis especially loved and supported Brian. I loved it when I saw Dennis go up to Brian and kiss him on the back of the head during a concert. They were brothers in arms especially having to survive their father.

I met Dennis at a Detroit area record shop when he was on tour promoting his POB album. After I had a photo taken of us shaking hands, I hung around for awhile. I must say he was a real decent, nice guy. Everybody there really liked him.
I would have loved to meet the guy. Carl too.

Carl and Dennis... the Heart and Soul of the GREATEST rock and roll band of all time. I saw the Beach Boys tonight at the tropicana in Atlantic city. They sounded fantastic! I got the chance to stand right in front of the stage and was really close to Brian Wilson and Al Jardine. Brian seemed to be having health problems but still performed like a star. Al was awesome. They will always be #1!

I've always believed that "nasal boy" was very jealous of Dennis and Brian and all he (M.L.) ever, really cared about was "how big is my slice of the pie and when do I get to cash it in?" His "Don"t f- - K with the formula" mentality had NOTHING to do with artistic creativity and EVERYTHING to do his own personal fame and fortune $$$$!

I believe it was Bruce who first mentioned him, in the video. Dennis and Bruce were pretty close, it was Dennis who asked Bruce to come back to the band and with the exception of Carl, Bruce is the only one on all of Dennis's tracks on his solo album.
This is great. I hope they get to stay together as a group and continue to tour after 50 years....

There’s a brilliant collection of Dennis absolutely roasting Mike throughout his tenure, a great one when Mike was in his Maharishi emulating phase and Mike called him Santa Claus lol, he was savage. I wouldn’t doubt if Mike was happy in Denny dying until years later but yeah I agree

Mike isn't thrilled about talking about the beach boys unless it's in regards to him. He never misses a beat to remind everyone who talks about Kokomo that Brian had nothing to do with it..... congratulations bro, you have one successful song without Brian and let's be honest....it's not that great of a song anyway. John Philips ORIGINAL composition of Kokomo was better, actually had a steel drum.

Their harmonies were just perfect...I loved them so much their sound was just out of this world...and pet sounds was not a failure to me..I loved it and bought it on CD apart from having it on vinyl...they will always be the best to me....👍👌

It wasn’t just a red corvette it was a 1963 split window convertible. Go ahead price one today in ANY condition. They were only made one year.
I had the good fortune to attend the reunion concert in Seattle and talk to most of the band after the sound check. It was so special seeing a group that most of us grew up with and hearing those same great harmonies in 2012 that we lived with in the 60's and beyond ! Best voices and best songs ever... at least for me !
Mike hated Dennis- which is funny because Dennis was in it for the music and supported Brian all the way. Mike was in it for the $- which is why he sued Brian several times in the early 2000s. Mike Love had ZERO creativity. Dennis wrote Forever and the entire album Pacific Ocean Blue. Dennis (and Carl) wanted to push the band further while Mike just wanted to cash his checks while bringing nothing new to the table. Ever. Kokomo is the one exception and lets face it- that's not at all genius.

@Joseph Kalina - I partly agree to your comment. However in the bands´ later career Dennis would show up drunk for concerts or he wouldn´t show up at all. I read in several articles that Dennis just loved to piss off Mike. Maybe Dennis was in it for the music and maybe he had a troubled mind - but he also showed a LOT of disrespect to the other band members. They didn´t kick him from the band in 1979 for no good reason! According to a 1984 article in Rolling Stone Carl also got tired of Dennis at one point - quote:
*_"In 1982, the more business-minded beach Boys - Carl Wilson, Al Jardine and Mike Love - and their manager, Tom Hulett, felt there were two big problems that had to be solved: Brian Wilson and Dennis Wilson."_*

Mike changed the lyrics to Good Vibrations, which made it into a hit. Atleast give him some credit, you hack.
I disagree, Mike was a actually a great lyricist. Another thing you probably didn't know is Mike co-wrote the Lyrics to Pacific Ocean Blue. So to say he hated Dennis isn't entirely right. They've had their problems as many families do. But, I feel that Mike cared for Dennis and wanted to help him get through his problems.

Most Beach Boys followers and fans would trade Mike for Carl any day. Mike was the least important of the original members, and when you really think about it, is the guy who could have left at the same time as David Marks and never been missed. But thank god for Al Jardine and his refusal to abandon Brian Wilson while the money-changers Mike and Bruce cash in by playing Fun Fun Fun 270 times a year. Bruce is a nice guy, but a total todie risk averse follower. Al and Carl were the heart and soul of the musical group, but without Dennis there would be no Beach Boys as we know them today.
i realy mis dennis and carl alout the beach boys songs and music after those two died i realised that because of dennises druming that the bands music is damn good and popular. now that both of them are gone the music has totaly thenged the beats on drums and the music .the beach boys were popular all thaks to dennises druminig and carls singinig now see how much the music has changed their i get around/fun fun fun all the old classics have just changed
The song is called "From There To Back Again" from the 2012 album "That's Why God Made the Radio". One of Al's most stunning vocals; and one of the best songs on the album.
Dennis fans are always aware of the slights and oversights- they are many! He’s by far the most interesting and intriguing Beach Boy. There’s no doubt he was difficult with all his addictions and wild lifestyle but do they not talk about him so Mike Love doesn’t get pissed off or something? 🙄
Completely agree - LOVE both of those guys - beautiful souls & men & stunning voice of Carl, the sexy voice of Dennis just great sadness for losing Dennis so young. Carl was definitely a main presence in the band and made a difference.
I’m SO happy & relieved to hear them talk about Dennis in a good way - he could’ve been so much more - Bless his heart.

What can I say..have always loved Carl! Miss him much.
There's an interview with Dennis from the late 70s (I think) where he describes Brian as 'opening a doorway' with Pet Sounds and he's totally right. He was always very protective of Brian. I think Mike on the other hand lacked musical maturity. He wasn't willing to appreciate Brian's wonderful virtuosity as a composer and arranger when doing both Pet Sounds and Smile.
Mike love is a little ful of him self.
Dennis was the true spirit of the Beach Boys.
It brings me to tears, every time I've seen the vid of " GOK" with the band doing the backgrounds. For me, Carl Wilson WAS the Beach Boys, & his voice & presence are so badly missed. To Carl & Dennis, we miss you both, so wish you were still with us., Wolfsky9

Dennis was by far the most popular Beach Boy in the 1960`s-`70`s. Nobody else was even close! He was a very good looking guy, who loved to party, and had a wild streak.
That`s why all the chicks dug him...and that`s what drove front-man Love crazy with jealousy!

I wonder how things would be if Dennis has been spared and he Brian, and Carl would have let the past go . What would the music be like? Would Dennis have told Mike Love to take a hike? We will never know but in some ways it nice to think about the possibilities. 😊
Considering that the 50th Anniversary was just a means to let go the problems of the past and just play the way they did in their early days, who knows what would've happened.

Its really sad they pretty much showed no tribute to dennis. He was very underrated musically and as a person. Shame on you.
well, dennis had the better personality and far better looks than all the guys in the group. his musical ability was not good but good enough for what a drummer needed to have for a group like the Beach Boys. He never really played on the studio recordings and his live playing was barely good enough and flaws were not noticeable, but this man (please don't be offended) got more pussy than Wilt Chamberlain, Robert Plant, Tom Jones, and Ted Nugent combined!

The naked and unabashed vitriol that combover boy had (then and still now) for Denny is factually established when M.L. said that; "Dennis was a parasite on the band." My personal distain for M.L. goes back decades and the statement made @ 0:33 just re-enforces that emotion. The Beach Boys that Brian Wilson had envisioned was an "all for one and one for all" mentality. M.L.'s driving motivation was "oh yeah, that's all well and good. Just make sure I get MY cut first."
