    Love to see you guys using more affordable older kit. I am a beginner and I am on a tight budget, in the last few months through reading reviews and careful use of Ebay and Gumtree I have put together a bag full of clubs for under £100. John Letters T9+ Driver, 3W & 5W - Wilson Di7 Irons - Dunlop DP1 56 degree wedge & a Rife Aussie putter. All in great condition and all for under a ton! Golf CAN be affordable if you do your homework on older or less well known kit.
    Now all I need to do is learn to use them properly!!

    The Hogan Apex Plus forged irons to this day will perform with any iron on the market in playability, feel and distance. Anybody who has ever played them knows what I'm talking about. They have a bit of offset, so if you're not into that it might be a bit off putting. But other than that, once you hit them, you'll wonder why any other manufacturer even bothered making irons after them. Yes, they are that good.

    I would bring back the Cleveland Launcher 460cc Driver from the late 90's - early 2000. The BECU Eye 2's look sweet. I still play the Zing irons with stiff JZ shafts I bought in 1996, new. They are so easy to hit and accurate that I have never sought to replace them. Besides my yardage numbers have been consistent since I was a freshman in college many moons ago.

  • @brookead
    @brookead 8 лет назад

    I used to have a set of those Ping irons. They were golf NIRVANA back in the day. My Dad actually had a set with Mizuno Exsar Gold shafts in them which he absolutely loved! Shows you how much stronger they've made the lofts on golf clubs over the years doesn't it... Ping used to offer "tournament lofts" which would have made those clubs 1 weaker than Rick's rather than 2 clubs weaker. Wonderful wonderful clubs though! And lie adjustable using a vice and "the mallet of persuasion." :) :) :)

      You can still play any tournament short of USGA and R&A events, and legally post handicap rounds with square grooves until 2024. And even then, most golfers aren't posting scores (including golf pros, where it isn't relevant)

I’m a 19 handicap and my handicap should be better if the rest of my golf bag was good as well as being consistent in every shot on the course.
