LFG!
are you guys actually sponsored by Fat Tire? That's a phenomenal beer
Thanks guys, I really appreciate your insight into everything creature related, I've learned so much from you all.. I'm an animal lover and self proclaimed biologist, lol not really, but I invest a lot of time learning everything I can about all kinds of animals... If you guys are ever doing anything around the U.K. or Europe and want or need a volunteer, then please don't hesitate...I'll deffo be there.😊
Mickey Ds Pizza Please. I would do a franchise where an elephant brings you the food from the kitchen, big back allows for a ton of food, and he can differentiate each dish through smell. to take each guest to their table, I would hire a sifaka lemur for familiarity and flair. to take their orders, I would use a parrot to relay them back to the chef. tip the elephant please.
Filthy foot Forrest
LFG= Looking For Group.
Old MMORPG term spawned from world of warcraft.
Swimming with a shark in a lake in Oakland, is almost as dangerous as living in Oakland.
True 😂
Trusting a fart after certain foods is even more dangerous than both combined.
Hiiii Po 😘
I'm Bill Burr white, I'll take the shark.
Facts I'm born and raised in Oakland and it's crazy
I'll take the shark anyday
Thank you Joe Rogan for introducing Forrest to us. Love the "what's in the news"
You mean naked and afraid?
Amen
You never watched extinct or alive before he was on Rogan? You have so much cool content to watch.
This is by far some of the best podcasting on RUclips. It satisfies my need for nerdy animal info in a package that still makes me feel like the cool guy...lol.
After you said this, you’re not the cool guy anymore…lol.
Love how Forrest hardcore baits a story and then slides in... "If you guys wanna hear it..."
21:17 "You're supposed to say GB" 😂💀 underrated moment
The comment about the rail tie brain injury resonated. My dad had a stroke about 3 1/2 years ago. He's recovered really well, considering how awful it was for the first week or so. He has some weakness on his right side, but his personality has altered. Not a huge change, but definitely noticeable to me and mum.
I hope your dad is better. I lost mine 23 years ago. It’s tough.
Damn, that's a weird thing to have to experience I'm sure, someone is in one way your entire life and all of a sudden they're different in some way.
he might of been without air for a little to long I've lived with a right frontal lobe anoxic brain injury(same part as fineas gage the railroad worker mentioned) for 25 years but everyone who knew me before said after the incident i was a much angrier and entirely different child afterwards, I always wonder what i might have been like as i still struggle with my emotions, anger & short patience. I'm grateful eternally for my family and support structure and hope your father is blessed with the same gifts
You guys should talk about the craziness of people microdosing snake venom
I saw a video of a guy injecting snake venom forever ago for fun. Now people are microdosing it? How many people?
@zacharynowak7498 that guy is one of the more famous people to do it but there's a long history of it from it being used for a horse racing stimulant to a doctor creating a treatment centre for it in South America to experimenting with creating antivenoms I just think it would be an interesting topic for them to talk about
People have injected venoms for a long time. The one guy that owned the original snake venom lab in Miami made his blood an antivenin. There are others that have done the same. The Cobra Guy is similar.
I'll have sum copperhead and timber Rattle snake, since I spend a lot of time in the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina. To maybe become immuned, those are the species of snake I come in contact with
The railroad worker was named Phineas Gage, and his metal dynamite packing rod shot through his head and damaged his frontal lobe. Fascinating story, definitely worth a Google search 🤯
I was looking for this comment. Thank you!! I just kept saying his name like they could hear me😂
Lake Merritt is not a lake, it's actually a lagoon and part of the San Francisco Bay.
It probably got through the muddy water and jammed trash clogged pipes going to the lagoon when it was a baby and than grew up on the lake.. I'm not a scientist, but.. how else would it have gotten in that far without that scenario and or maybe somebody planted it there.. you could theoretically walk it over across/under the freeway to the lagoon.. in theory
oh for fucks sakes
@@dingdingding4033 i mean bull sharks are fresh water
@@raidermaxx2324 this water is brackish not fresh. Not saying that it couldn’t be a bull shark for that but that isn’t the only thing it could be.
@@dingdingding4033 It was probably an aquarium fish when it was very small and was released. Lake Merrit is pretty well known for having very exotic species living in it, including squid that are only found in the far east in waters near korea and china.
Dude!!! I think I have drone video of that white orca. It’s from maybe 2018-2019… I was drone fishing off the coast of Oceanside CA and caught this super weird white thing and none of could figure out what it was. Do you guys have an email I can send it to?
That’s awesome!
Could you imagine having to bust a growler in your local dunkin and the second you open the bathroom a polar bear just mauls you.
To handle the leopard shark sitch.
I grew up fishing the bay. Caught plenty of these. If you have fished Pitt then you know. But the amount of water we have had in California this winter makes new waterways we have never seen and every bay arean can confirm.
It is a very rare occasion.
But you know what’s even crazier… Sturgeons in Lake Del Valle is Livermore Ca 20 minutes east of Oakland.
Forrest is right about the excessive AC in the summer and heating in the winter in parts of the Midwest. Both unnecessary and unhealthy. I was living in a wall tent for two years and one summer got sick after spending 3 days in a hotel for a conference in July. The contrast of living in 90s outside to 60oF for the weekend shocked my system. Experienced headaches, nausea, cold shakes, and vomiting when i got back outside after the 3 days. Your blood naturally thins in the summer and thickens in the winter, but constant changes in temp has to throw things out of wack.
when Retep rants in a comical Chris Farley type of way 😭😭
Someone tell Retep that Lassie is a ROUGH Collie not a Border Collie 😂
To make matters worse, even tri-colored and "red" border collies look nothing like rough collies, let alone the standard black and white border collies with either long or short coats.
Omg yall. My cat ate a whole donut the other month!! Definitely dont hire him!!!
I had to take him to the emergency vet because i left my donut on the table while i went tk the bathroom and he ate the entire thing!! the vet gave him meds that make pet’s nauseous and then spun him on a chair for 15 min until he finally threw it up! 😭Apparently sugar and yeast are bad for cats,, not to mention the chocolate that was also in the donut! I have no idea what possessed him to eat that😭
Can’t wait to listen to this when I get home from school! You guys make my day.
I am looking forward to summer break and being able to watch the podcast as it premiers. Also, not the first time there has been a Leopard shark in the ancient lagoon. All types of sea life have been seen there.
These guys are all so damn awesome. By far one of my favorite podcasts. I'm a patron and insanely happy to see this podcast start to really take off. You guys are great and I would love to kick it with you all.
this was interesting to have you review this story. I am a northerner and do not know much about crocodiles or alligators, but now I understand that the pictures could never happen. Thanks
Hanging with friends and talking about animals - your podcast is fantastic.
I got a bit emotional about pocho and his master, what an amazing creature, what amazing trust. That really moved me if I'm honest.😮😢.. I'm actually saddened by his death.
LFG will never die, let's fuckin go boys 👊
a pretty big bull shark was in a pond at a golf course in australia after a flood....
Btw. I stopped at the liquor store and grabbed some Flat Tire Ale for the first time (thanks to you). It's damn good. Saving the planet never made me stagger with such swagger....nah mean?
Seriously, love you guys. I'm a Joe Rogan convert fyi. Keep it up guys! Love you all!
I remember hearing about alligators in Alameda Creek about 10 years ago. I didn’t ever see one but still keep an eye out.
Man what
Forest’s Shenanigans at Flannigan’s!!! 😂😂😂😂
Peter you could fix the green pond by making or buying a floating helophyte filter. Its basicly a floating platform with swamp plants that filter the water. Not only would it be great for the water quality but also for insect and biodiversity
Yeah because that’s what you want when your shirtless in the pool… bugs
@@mikebyars9463Yes, if you rather have a green pool thats not even usable then having a few butterflys hanging around you should not even consider it.
LFG is totally fine lol I love it! 🤣
Hahah “hello joe..” lol
Thank goodness for this. I needed the mental health break
As soon as they said Oakland, I screamed Lake Merritt 😂
Well nobody is gona piss on the seat, if they know there is going to be a very angry polar bear coming for you if you disrespect the bathrooms lol
In south florida bull sharks are actually common in brackish water estuary’s,and even in freshwater canals.
The crocodile with brain damage was insane
I...I literally cannot wait. I need to know about the shark now
34:10
Bro, I cry every time but to call it “bad” is nutty!
That animation must have been absolutely painful to accomplish.
There was such a big die off in that lake recently caused by the city I filmed. All of the fish, rays, and sharks died. They can slip in through bars by the mouth when they are small and get stuck as they grow. Used to fish in this lake.
So Forrest has no idea what he is talking about, like usual.
“Oh my gawwwwddd Sarahhhh ur getting married”😂😂😂
With respect to the brain damage story. My boyfriend was in a near fatal car accident and he shattered the whole right side upper quadrant of his head. He had to have emergency brain surgery to remove the pieces of bone that went into his brain. He made a full recovery except now he really lacks empathy. It was 5 years ago, we have been together almost 20 years so I really see the full effects and it is a struggle. But I am just glad he had very skilled drs and icu staff so he could survive. Another hour or so n he would be dead.
Retept look like he on a mission , pat looks good as always , and forest is just my guy forest 😅
I know this podcast is new but it's brilliant.. I'm gonna be binging all of it
When I was a little boy I was in Orlando Seaworld and I was standing right up toward the glass and one of the whales gave birth. I was so young I didn’t understand what was going on I so I turned around and I asked my family how do they put it back in for the next show and everybody started laughing. It’s crazy I think I’m one of the only people in the world have ever seen them baby born in captivity
Screaming the biggest happy birthday Brian!!!! I love you and your awesome channel. All the amazing animals and people around you. Just praying with you for God to heal your body and keep you around awhile.
Lol the lead singer definitely introduces the wedding party.. ive played countless weddings...what the hell? Lol
Hey forrest ima be honest I’ve watched most of the episodes of ur shows and i loved them u should make some more extinct or alive
Holy shit. I have not listened to you guys in nearly a year and I am pretty sure when I left you had like 30k subs. Nice job
Mickey D's Pizza Please LFG BRAAAAA lool Love from Texas like always
Flannagans is a very popular restaurant here in South FL. It's kind of like a Fridays style place. But they aren't a huge corporation just a handful of locations as far as I know. They also have Flanagan's liquor stores attached.
wow! now thats a business plan! kinda like Tommy Bahamas which is attached to a clothing store which sells its over-priced hawaiian shirts lol.. but you gotta walk thru it to get to the food
LFG for the Pod!!!
And for the last hour of work I get a treat 🙏🔥 let’s go
I watched, again, the amazing story about the guy with the brain injury... The second one I watched was an in-depth documentary of a physician that followed him throughout the years after he treated the injury, and until he died... A sad story...
A lot was learned about the brain, personalities, and how to treat brain injuries and susequent infections, instead of writing these patients off as hopeless cases.
It's fun to hang with leopard sharks, we try to see how close we can get before they get scared and swim away. There was a guy who stepped on one while wading across the mouth of the salt marsh, and it nipped his foot. The cut was so small that he declined the band aid I offered him. My friend's kid used to sneak up behind them and catch them in his arms in a bear hug.
Flannigan's from Office Space😂
LFG is also a gaming term, far older I think it started in like 2002, meaning 'Looking for Group'. Used mostly in MMO's, its used by someone looking for a group/party/fireteam of people to do specific content. Mickey Dees Pizza Please
I played WoW and used this term all the time. Then I got a house goat and quit playing WoW because she wants to cuddle all the time 😂
thanks nerd
Yeah they sensationalized the story. It’s like in FL when tourists freak out over news stories saying there are sharks in the Indian River.
For those who haven’t been to FL, the Indian “River” is part of the Intercoastal Water way that’s connected directly to the Atlantic Ocean via dozens of inlets. Salinities range from brackish to full strength seawater depending on location and tidal cycle.
I live in the Bay Area! I heard about this at the grocery store yesterday😂
Mid-thirties here - never ever seen a LFG in the wild
My first time watching this podcast and I love it!!!
LFG is definitely a chad thing to say 😂 it’s definitely not “Sweet”. 💀
this episode should be fin-tastic
Basking sharks swim in and out of the SF Bay, in CA, since as far back as I can remember. Early 80’s.
So happy I found the show
Lake Merritt is connected to the calif delta, which is connected into the bay.
There was a chain restaurant in the 80s called Flannigan's. It was about the same as Bennigans.
Love the podcast. Been listening to it for a month or so. Jre sent me. 😊
First time listener, and New Sub here 🤘
I am from the San Francisco Bay Area. I Lived there till I was 40… I never knew that lake merit was brackish. My dad use to fish in the bay. He would catch Leopard sharks all the time. They don’t have teeth like Tiger sharks or Mako. Their teeth are flattened and ridged surface on the upper and lower jaws.
I live less than a mile from Lake Merritt. It is called a lake but it is directly attached to the ocean. Bat rays, striped bass, even salmon swim into Lake Merritt.
Live in northern Wisconsin thermostat never leaves 70 F. Was 75 outside was fishing now I'm like a boiled crab.
Lassie wasn't a Border Collie... just a regular Collie.
Flannigans was the fictional restaurant in office space I believe lol it was definitely a wanna be TGI Fridays
Years ago a nurse shark was caught in the Arkansas River near Keystone Lake in Oklahoma.
Great lighting and mic stands make anything look like a good set
Ive seen those leopards wayyyyyy up the santa ana river in ca, alongside largemouth bass
Retep coming in hot with the fun facts! I’m happy
This is such a nice little podcast, I love it . Hope it stays on RUclips.
So hyped
the comment about the railway worker was a but understated, his name was phineas gage and it was a tamping spike, which was flat on one side and had a slow taper towards the tip, it wasnt this thin little rod, it was 3ft long and an inch and a half in diameter, or about a meter long and 3.8cm in diameter which just a little smaller than the hole in a roll of paper towels
Oakland native, sharks are common in lake Merritt. Top 5 best pod ever💪🏼
We had the McPizza in Canada. I remember, my brother and I would only want the pizza. It go to the point that we stopped going to McDonald's because my parent were so sick of waiting for the pizzas with two kids in the backseat.
I cried my eyes out with the raccoons in Guardians of the Galaxy. Never hold back. Even if it’s made up.. it’s the feeling that somewhere in the world at some point there are or were animals tortured or hurt. Great pod guys. Glad I went down a Forrest rabbit hole and found you guys.
I just like to point out LFG is also a term used by people who play video games “looking for group”. When your looking for people to play with on a mmo
That lake has always been filthy. How a shark could survive there is beyond me.
You guys are so cool, I want to join the team lol
Flannigans is a South Florida sports bar. Shenanigans is the one you’re looking for.
Being from Kansas I can confirm on the temp situation 😂
29:10 a little bit of milk with white bread roll in the morning. They love it.
He would hate me talking to quiet lmaoo
My chihuahua licks my boxers ears out like it’s his job and the boxer just sleeps through it.
Lake Merritt is connected to the bay. The water is brackish with saltier water toward the bayside. Leopard sharks probably congregate in or near that area frequently
Shut up kyle had me dead
Basking sharks are seen around the Uk seas on a regular basis I believe.
LFG!!! McDonalds Pizza please!! I definitely missed out on the McPizza also!!
That lake is directly connected by a short canal to the larger Bay Area and the ocean so I wouldn’t be too surprised to find a shark in there.
Guardians of the Galaxy is not a children's movie. Lol
Damn they really turned a braindead croc into the homie
It’s pretty sweet. Lfg!
I fell into Lake Merritt as a kid. Salty as hell lol
Same as peters personality:(
@@Animes4BidenLovers 😂
