What's your ultimate BR fishing buddy?
I can imagine that the Vikings got it right, correctly naming both land masses, but maybe something was lost in translation between the Vikings and the peoples drawing up the maps.
@@Sigma1_969 I recall learning at one point that Leif Erikson's father, Erik The Red; discovered Greenland and named it such to entice people to follow him there to create settlements on it. But he knew full well that the land was not green. He essentially mislead them intentionally so that people would come help settle it. Thats just what I read though, I couldn't tell you why Iceland is called Iceland
The Head of Forest, the body of Peter, and the arms and legs (and hair) of Pat. 😂😂 Battle Royal Fishing Buddy Ultimate Champion.
BR winner: Forrest. No surprises there lol
@@johnbender49 we were taught that in school, it has some truth to it, would be a good idea for Eric the Red to try and entice people to settle a land like that. There is also a possibility I theorise, that Ancient Egyptian people settled the area before that, on their way over to North America, many many 100's of years before Columbus and way before the Vikings
As someone with an Icelandic grandmother I've had to explain it many times...Firstly "Iceland" literally got its name because Nordic explorers hiked to the top of a mountain and saw a bunch of ice so they called it Iceland. Then when Erik the Red founded Greenland over 1000 years ago it was much warmer then, so the country (especially near the southern point where they landed) would have been a lot greener!! Plus when Erik the Red was kicked out of Iceland and found Greenland he wanted more people to settle there so he thought "Greenland" was a nice sounding name. And it actually worked and vikings would most likely still be there now except for a few things like the temperature dropping in the 14th century because of volcanic eruptions. The Black Death killed off a lot of demand for walrus ivory and with the new trade routes to Africa elephant ivory became more popular! (Not that anyone asked, just thought I'd share in case anyone was genuinely curious)
Thanks for sharing, I appreciate the info at least!
This is so cool thanks for the history
There are researchers that work with Bison, that refute the claim that human scent was solely to blame for the rejection. Partly because they capture and release baby bison back to their mothers all the time. Interested about your thoughts on this. Keep up the good work guys!💯
I was having the same thoughts. Also the fact the the calf was already separated from the group.
Possibly some abnormality or deficiency that the mother detects?
Thanks, I was going to post this. That human scent story is often used and rarely true.
Correct. It likely wasn't solely due to the human scent, but it definitely didn't help...
Agree it was something way more than human scent
It was the Axe body spray that did it ....
Used to live on Oahu. Took my kids out to China man hat one day an there was a big mink seal. We do a little hiking, let’s the kids splash around in the wave channel on the far side. We hike out makin sure to give the seal a wide space. A lady literally tries to hug it for a picture. It stood up taller than her, opened its mouth wide enough to bite her head clean off. She’s squealed and sat down crying. The seal chilled enough to let her friends drag her back up the rocks to safety. Thought my kids were gonna see their first violent death at under 10. Don’t fuck with monk seals.
That lady swimming with that mother monk seal after it gave birth is the equivalent of throwing a goose into a new mothers hospital room lol
Octopat 😂 another good one guys 🤙 much love from northern missouri and stay wild and free ✌
this episode of TWT is undoubtadly the most natural and free flowing podcast between friends i have ever seen. Keep up the great content !!!
I think Patrick secretly works for Door Dash in his spare time.🚗💨He was legit about to fight Peter over it😂🤣
Love listening to y’all!! I’m a female Broster 😁
I love that peter is complaining about the drinking game he hasn't played correctly the whole time😂😂😂
Lol, so funny he's being like that portny, portly the guy that has barstool sports, acting like a little 😹 over the drink game.
Retep is the best Brofessor out there though!! Never stop rocking captain blob fish!!!
Not gonna lie, him acting like that made me not like him.
I’m an avid golfer and I witnessed a horror show when I was golfing recently and wanted to share my story.
I was playing one of the nicest golf courses in my area Stonewall Orchard Country Club (northern Chicago) and as I pulled up to a tee box I see police officers and the club pro standing there. I didn’t know what to expect but as I looked on the ground, I saw feathers, blood, organs, etc. it literally looked like a crime scene. The image still haunts me. We naturally asked what had happened and they said that a group of golfers ahead of us were in a bachelor party. They got really drunk and started causing a commotion. When they were asked to leave, they drove around their golf carts and started hitting geese with their golf clubs. The basically murdered 12 or so geese from mothers to babies. They were luckily caught and arrested. But it pissed me off so much. The entirety of the situation is horrible. You pay 150+ dollars to golf at a nice course, & celebrate your upcoming marriage by killing geese for no reason? I hate geese on the golf course don’t get me wrong. They’re always in the way. They’ll attack you if you get too close, but that’s so fucked up. Guys like that deserve to rot in hell. Rant is over but I felt like the brosteners needed to hear this story.
You mentioned red ear sliders and lion fish becoming invasive because of the pet trade. I'd be interested to hear y'all's opinion on the pet trade in general.
Once found a dead alligator snapper the size of a grown man’s torso in the Southern Ozarks.
Thing was bobbing against the shoreline of a river I was wading through and it wouldn’t have been difficult to get my whole hand in its mouth if I tried.
I have undiagnosed autism too Peter❤ love the show
So glad Forest is there to help with the social filters
Octopat! Body of a Jaguar, Head of a Polar Bear and Special Power of a Blue Whale to hold their breath underwater for over 2 hours. Cheers to another great podcast!
I'm gonna have to call you out, polar bears are considered marine/aquatic animals.
@@cleverusername9369 Interesting. I didnt know that. Then a Grizzly Bear Head. Easy Fix
I was attacked by a gang of ground hogs the other day in Columbus Ohio and they held me down and took my man hood. I'm willing to do an interview for a small fee to show my wounds and tell the story. It's insane!
I love that they never bury the lead on the title, it just comes up right away then they hook u for the rest
When I was a kid, me and my friends on our way home from school saw a box turtle in the middle of a busy road . It had gotten scared and was in its shell stationary. When the traffic died down for a second we ran and grabbed it to save it. We knew of a place about 45 minutes out of the way of our homes that we thought would be perfect for it. We were so exhausted but we managed to get to this beautiful pond away from the busy streets and surrounded by nice vegetation. Unfortunately it was fenced in by a pretty large fence and the only access point so to speak was a little bridge about 3-5 feet above the pond. Well we figured we could gently drop the turtle in and it could swim to its new beautiful home. We learned that day that box turtles indeed are not good swimmers. We waited for like 20 minutes for it to reach the other side or come back up. Rip little guy.
I think there should be an episode with the wives! We wanna know all the scoop with them.
Funny show & love the podcast! Pats quick question at the end was great lol. That mammoth shirt Forrest has on is sick. Could that be another potential sponsor plug? Appreciate the Booe link. OctoPat
Octopat - hmmmm that as a tattoo would be a fun “punishment” to a challenge 😂
Yalls brightness issue with this set up was driving me nuts. Lol. Love the pod, ive seen them all ❤
Growing up in Pennsylvania and seeing pretty much only box turtles, I never realized that other turtles didn't have a hinged shell.
“What’s better than laughing a ton? GETTING laughs.” i’m on your exact wavelength, brother
Eastern box turtles in my area are having upper respiratory virus problems 😢 like if you find one and it's blowing snotty bubbles out of its nose, it's probably sick. 😢
I haven't seen any this year in my area which is unusual they're typically very plentiful here 😕
Love the gear segment, I probably am gonna get that bag
Peter you are just an amazing human. Thank you for existing
Im definitely hittin up Retep's boat for the Octopat and the joint
I hope you guys see this but i wanted to say i watched a video from 2 years ago up guys posted called "wildlife biologist reviews Neil Waters thylacine photo evidence " and in the first picture you showed in the video. Right above the head of the head/back it looked like there was a store striped tail sticking out. Idk though could be anything
Octopat. Thanks I’ll be seeing that one in my nightmares 😅
Octopat! Great episode dudes 🤙
Back when I was around 16 or so went with my parents to pick up miniature horses. And the guy we got them from had Bison. That is one of the most intimidating animals I've ever experienced. Grew up on a farm, and now even at 36, it's still one of the most incredible things I've seen up close
Octo Pat would totally be my fishing buddy.😊
I go fishing to have fun. Patrick, you're my pick. Cheers from Ontario, Canada! Octo-Pat.
Welcome to the family Edwin!! Proud to serve alongside you🎉❤
We love you @mimmkey!
And you know I love you bros!!
Thanks bud! Likewise ❤
I became part of the buffalo club like 12 years ago. Signed my name on a coin and it flushed down the toilet. Still only drink with my left hand 😂
Been about a dozen years for me as well. Great stuff 👍🏻
Octo pat lol 😂 love from Texas like always guys
Onyx sounds amazing! I’m fishing all the time right now and know there are some killer spots but you have to get permission for. Again Forrest comes in clutch 🔥
Octopad Noel all the way from Ireland love the pod lads keep up the great content
Awesome gear segement! New listener to this podcast. Will be binging them.
Also, octopat
We have VERY strict laws to protect our monk seals in Hawaii, but there's always some idiot who ignores them. Lol
A lot of beaches have volunteers who stand guard near the seals so tourists don't mess with them.
cryptid game at 10:26 when Forrest is explaining drinking game a ghost flying past him.
Buffalo was a popular game amongst the seasonal employees in wind cave national park when I worked there😂
White gravy is so easy to make. Just take some all purpose flour and some butter to make a light pale roux. Add water, a bunch of pepper and a bit of salt. Whisk over medium low heat until its the right consistency. Too much cooking and you just get paste. Too little you don't have gravy.
Add some pork breakfast sausage, not cured sausage but fresh seasoned ground pork sausage. And eat it on an American biscuit. You might call it a scone. 😂
I got into a motorcycle accident and had my dry bag on. It barely got damaged. I agree dry bags are the best
Love the gear segment! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Love your show guys, but could you put the names of the product on the screen so those of us who aren’t big time outdoors people can know what brand you’re talking about please and thank you.
Forrest and Patrick, what is the best or affordable way to help out directly with your cause (Animal conservation) and Peter, what is the best way to contribute to the podcast to ensure that you all keep the podcast going?
Octopat from NZ… I made it while cooking Tacos….keep up the good work bros 👍😎
I wonder what these 3 do for fun during a sleepover
It's 2023 man, we don't judge what anyone does at sleepovers.
the monk seal said" YOU KNOW DA RULES!!!" lol sterling...
Octo pat. You guys rock keep it up
Octopat!!!! 🤣🤣 never too old for a joint in the am btw. Also, I have to go with Forrest's BR fishing buddy, because it'll actually catch fish 😂😂😂😂
I instantly looked up the website for those waterproof bags
Hey Forrest, a little trick I learned to get around having to pay for On X apps is that they don’t send confirmation emails so if you go to create an account with a random email they give you the 1 week free trial and then you keep repeating when the week is up
You guys are so fucking awesome thank you for everything I wish to be involved more with wildlife in the near future all thanks to you guys!
Octopat for the win ❤
Octopat, another great one boys!
More gear reviews. I need to know what I can waste my non-disposable income on and never use 😂😂😂
haha, exactly
I came all the way from Spotify just to say…. OCTO-PAT
I live in the southern Utah area and love fishing, I see these red eared sliders in all of the ponds I fish! I've caught a few by mistake, the chase after lures and streamers!
What should I do if I catch them?? I've just been letting them go, but I know they are invasive, I want to know if there is anything I can do to help the ecosystems of my local ponds??? There are hundreds of sliders at each pond! They get pretty big too.
ruclips.net/user/shortsndgG7Aauv8E?feature=share4
Find a good recipe for turtle stew.
I think I need me some fat tire! forest made me thirsty🤣
Well looks like I'm getting Domino's tonight
Octopat should be held in a museum
I’ve been in Buffalo Society for years. Good stuff
Great podcast..love you guys
Love you too
I was looking forward to hearing these guys talk about the sub that imploded
Just recently found this pod, I genuinely hope this never ends
Surfed Sandy’s for years the monk seal that frequents there’s head is the size of my torso no joke. Thing is like 12 feet long. They are no joke
Turtle got deported 😂
Talk about the big alpha sea lions. I bet the fully mature ones give tiger sharks a good battle if they go head to head. You always just see sharks vs the smaller ones.
The badger song.. YESSSSA 😂
Octopat, also Love you guys listen to you guys while fishing regarding the cormorant, I have a couple of birds around my pond in upstate South Carolina what would they be?
Coffee and beer is a solid combo
OctoPat 🤣💜
Octopat! Chameleon camoflague for the special ability, the body of a Gaboon Viper Snake strike speed, and the head of one Peter Retep. The ability and body will do the heavy lifting here, I just want to see that Retep head launch out of coral in camo!
I like pats hair!
I would love if you linked the waterproof bag in the description. Or all the gear you recommend in the future. Thanks Bros
Hey! It should be there but here it is: Booe.com - use code TWT for 10% off sitewide!
Octopat is my spirit animal
@wild times crew, did you see the guy in the everglades pulled out of the boat by a shark when he went to wash his hands? Crazy
Yep. I think we watched it in an upcoming Darwin Awards on Patreon. Insane!
28:00 Ive never used any of those apps....lol
Strange that an animal will save its young from the grasps of a predator and accept it injured and covered in predator slobber, but a human can’t touch it. It’s funny to think about but touching animals almost never actually has that affect to the point I haven’t seen proof that it isn’t for other factors were just not paying attention to
If you actually would’ve played the buffalo game this episode would’ve been the best one ever aired.
Octo-Pat. Going with Forrest. Just to witness that speed.
Get a cam on Kyle!! Keep him in the corner tho hahaha
I’m sure it’s too late now, I’d raise the bison. We have a dozen cattle and just got the other half of the property ready for more. It’s too bad they put it down over that.
Gotta go with the hyena mix for my fishing buddy! One of my favorite animals
Forest PLEASE! I’ve seen the box turtle you found walking around and adopted. It is DEFINITELY NOT an Eastern Box Turtle. It’s an Ornate (or Western) box turtle.
_Sorry, I was waiting to say this, ask Kenan if you doubt me_
I like that segment!!! You guys should be paid to promote them though
Alright, my BR fishing buddy will be for lakes/rivers instead of the ocean.
Head of a Mink. Watched a lot of Joseph Carter and his Minkenry in the past, so I want that intelligence and cache training capability piloting this monstrosity. Also I am not counting mink in the "aquatic category" in the same way Forrest didn't count his bird.
Body of an Alligator. Swims very well, long breath hold, lives 30-50 years. iI's an ectotherm (or cold blooded) so it requires less food itself, meaning more of our spoils go to me.
Chameleon's Camouflage Ability. Can blend in with its surroundings even easier when fishing, but also literally wears its emotions on its skin when we are not fishing.
I feel I have a dependable, efficient companion who can bond with you though its dog-like face, mood revealing colors, and low maintenance cost for a truly lifelong friendship.
Edit. Also Octo-Pat. Made it to the end XD
Reheat pizza in a frying pan with just a dab of butter.
Will try. If true. Genius.
@@WildTimesPod for thicker pizza toss a lid on for a min or so to help melt the top. I sometimes add more cheese because why not.
Oh my god 😂😂 those songs I forgot about them
I think I want to go with Peter on this trip and bring my fishing buddy. It will have the head of a pelican to catch fish. The body of a blue whale so that can hold a lot of fish and the powers of the electric eel so it can electrocute all the fish and then scoop them up.
I'll take a brown pelican. Favorite animal. Awesome to swim around when they are diving for fish. Amazing animal.
Id definitely be fishing with the Octopat
Hello from Sweden.
We play the “ Buffalo” game down here in Louisiana n have been for yrs but we call it bull moose
Driving semi drunk>using door dash
Just started watching, from the title i guess the seal thought that woman was a rivaling 🦭 same shape
Why is the guy in white always so angry
OctoPat??? Gotta see this lol
