Love you guys, been binge watching these all random episodes as my algorithm recommends them. They are all bangers no matter if they are the old episodes or newer.
I didn't realize seeing salmon sharks was so rare. I used to see them in rare occasions in Hood Canal in Washington. They follow the salmon runs, and I can confirm they travel in groups. I personally never witnessed them sunbathing, that's something new to me. They are pretty skittish, and freaky fast when spooked.
Like he said it’s early morning with no wind for them to do it
This podcast really has taught me to appreciate wildlife and nature more.
Both shark week shows were amazing, signed up to discovery plus Just to watch them 😂

Every episode always feels so welcoming and like a small gathering amongst friends, even in a shark episode like this - you guys still knock it out of the park. Regardless of how big the podcast grows (which it should) you guys always put out a great product even if no effort is put into it
I’m slowly making my through all the pods (hence why I’m commenting so late 😅) but this is by far my favourite episode so far!

This was great. I love these behind the scenes episodes. Everyone has great stories. I really want Retep to be hired on one of your shows, Pat or Forrest... or both. All three of you on camera would be amazing. Even something more simple like looking for the Orcas off the Channel Islands that eat Great Whites. Even if you don't catch that hopefully Pat and Retep can see some Orcas. Hell, just bring a camera on Forrests boat, invite another camera dude to hangout and an audio guy. I'm sure with you three you can get an hour of fuckin solid content. Sell it or put it up here and watch it blow up.
Sharks in the family (Lamindae) Salomon, Great white, Miko etc aren't really Endothermic "warm blooded", but in fact Mesothermic "warm/cold blooded, so both Ectothermic "cold blooded" and Endothermic "warm blooded". So can used both outside and inside source to produce energy, In warm waters they can go Ectothermic to save energy, and in cold waters they can go Endothermic to stop there body shutting down and keep them going.

This was a great episode! It was as Forrest puts it a “very me heavy” one haha but the shark week specials were insane. Did anyone else think the soundtracks were super intense??Especially Jaws of Alaska, I Ioved it it was like Jacques Cousteau meets Stanley Kubrick and Forrest on the jet board was the greatest thing I’ve ever seen on television. I definitely vote for some shark 🦈 week celebs on the pod that would be cool, and have them join in the BR!
So on this episode we learned salmon sharks sunbathe and swim in packs of 5,000, don’t be fooled by Forrest’s masculine bravado, and Retep runs away like salmon sharks when it gets windy at the beach 🤣🤙

Come to Mona Island in Puerto Rico, that's the place scientists call the second Galápagos. Theres Mona Island Rhino iguanas, boas, geckos, sea birds, wild goats, wild boar and healthy reefs full of lobster and other marine life (sharks and sea turtles).
Is there an audio of the orcas? I would love to hear it! Good podcast, bros, loved it!

47:20, I resemble that remark. I'm from Kans-ass, but live in Florida. I fear not the ocean, but rather tornados, (and falling from the sky, same shit).
I went to the great barrier reef up near cairns in late 2019, went to green island and Fitzroy island and I remember there being not much coral and very bleached aswell. I had entered from the shore with my mum and I had a hunch that if I were to swim out a couple hundred meters near the boats we'd see more colour and we did, night and day difference in marine life and coral just a little bit further out and it was obvious to me that it was because of all the tourists over the years which was sad to see. I do have a vid on my channel of it :)
Sorry but the bleaching has nothing to do with the tourists. It's because of climate change. They are reaching a homeostasis and coming back from bleaching.
