I own a 2016 RAM 6.7 2500 with 70k miles, live in MT and when the weather allows I pull a 10k GVWR fifth wheel trailer and behind the trailer I pull an ATV. Earlier this year we were on our way to the Big Horn mtns in WY to camp in our favorite spot (~8,600 feet). Prior to leaving, I topped off the DEF tank at a local truck stop with the bulk DEF. We arrived in good shape and the truck basically sat for a week as we primarily used the ATV. After breaking camp and hooking up we began our trip to the next camping spot (also in the Big Horns) and the check engine light came on! We idled down, called our dealer and were advised to take the truck to a nearby dealer which we did. After diagnosis, they told us the DEF in our tank was the cause of the problem. They drained what was remaining and replaced it with Peak Blue DEF and we haven't looked back since. Apparently ours was not the only RAM 6.7 they had serviced for the very same thing - poor quality bulk DEF. Made a believer of us and now we ONLY use prepackaged Peak Blue DEF.

I ve had several folks ask me that. They are the original OEM. Here a link, not sure if these are the same ones I have but they look like it. www.moparmidwestparts.com/oem-parts/mopar-battery-shield-5033395ac?c=Zz1lbGVjdHJpY2FsJnM9YmF0dGVyeS1iYXR0ZXJ5LXRyYXktYW5kLWNhYmxlcyZsPTE5Jm49QXNzZW1ibGllcyBQYWdlJmE9cmFtJm89MjUwMCZ5PTIwMTQmdD1sYXJhbWllJmU9Ni03bC1sNi1kaWVzZWw%3D
Thanks Marion, much appreciated. I couldn’t find them because I didn’t search with the term “shields”. The material they used on my 2016 is disintegrating as I type!
Just a follow up. Your battery shields came directly from the factory. I found them pictured on the moparwholesaleparts website which apparently is “third party run”.So I ordered them. They sent me the same felty crap material ones that I already have. I was told they don’t sell them anymore and that Chrysler controls the pictures on the website. Oh well I tried.
Great info. Volume too low.
The bottles I have gotten from Walmart have had dates stamped right on the front. Problem is, I don't know if that is the manufacturer date or the expiration date.
Thanks, I've heard others have it too, mine didn't.
It’s the manufacturer date.
In the semi trucks that I drive, we buy from the highest volume dealers{truck stops} . That's the freshest Def that is available and way cheaper per gallon.
Thanks for other great info!
Thanks for the info
Do you have a video on the warning light that states incorrect Def fluid detected? says see dealer immediately. please help!
No, but I've got several on removing it and putting fresh one in which is what I would do sooner than later. ruclips.net/video/JCBetHI-AiY/видео.html

As DEF expires or goes bad due to age or heat will it show up when reading a DEF refractometer and if so will it be above or below 32.5? Thanks!
Yes it should and I would think it would read high if water has evaporated but don't really know.
If you delete a diesel, do you still have to use the DEF fluid?
Nope
The ones near me have a date on the jugs.
Good to know.
I'll have to take a pic next time. Love your channel!
Does supertech have a date code on it?
Not the few that I've purchased but other have said their's had a date code.
What ever the magic 3rd ingredient is in the Peak Platinum made no difference. Actually seemed lower in longevity then normal Peak. In my non-expert opinion the Platinum is not worth it and all the others you mentioned do the job.
@Lawrence Chiasson I'm not 100% sure but in terms of spending the extra money it is not worth it. If I could Delete the damn thing I would but lots of restrictions in Colorado Springs region.
The best brand of def is no def at all.👍🇺🇲
manufacturers should be forced to print the manufacturing date on this product. Buying this product from a slow selling dealer in Canada, can lead to very expensive repair bill and no one seems to want to protect the consumer. I blame the API for not forcing the manufacturing date to be labelled on the box instead od a code that most people can't read because each manufacturer is different.
You sound like rich dad poor dad guy.
Oem def is the only def you need to use it's designed for your truck all that other def you get at gas stations and truck stops are complete shit and will drain your bank account quick and you will be in a world of fubar.
Mix 2.5 gallons of def with a gallon of distilled water
No, no don't do that
@@MarionBlair i have been doing this for nearly 100k miles with no issues, the 33% solution is way too heavy and thats what causes problems with the def injection system diluting with 1 gal distilled gives you about a 24% concetration still better than the 22% minimum
I would have thought the n o x would increase to the point where you would get a code.
@@MarionBlair the minimum the concentration can be is 22% the stuff that’s sold is 33% way overkill
@@backyardshenanigans9212 very interesting. The marine DEF is 40%
Get 2 the point
So all this crap is, is fertilizer? Freakin nitrogen and water. 🤦♂️ wow.
