Wow. I’ve been reading camera reviews for 40 years. This is among the best because you focus on what serious _photographers_ need to know. Well done and thank you!
I love your videos, Omar. They are so entertaining and informative. I currently upgraded from the x-t20 to the x-t30 with a lot of doubt if it is necessary. After three days of usage I have to admit it is worth it. The autofocus ist much much better, the knobs and switches feel much more precious. In sum, I love it.
you all prolly dont care but does anybody know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid forgot my account password. I appreciate any help you can give me.
@Braylon Leon I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and im in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Once again, great video Omar. I am an XT20 fanatic all because of you! I love it and was curious about the 30. I agree the dpad and q menu changes are a deal breaker for me. Thanks for keeping it fun and real!
I don't usually finish the video, I just go where the highlight is. But this man is informative, caught my interest and at the same time entertains me.
Hi Omar! I have discovered your channel very recently because I was thinking to upgrade to a mirrorles camera an Fuji was something that I wanted to try :). I have to say that I have become addicted to your videos! I keep watching one after the other because they are soo informative and interesting! So congratulations on yout work! I will probably buy an X3 or X T30 for my girlfriend for her birthday :) Greetings from Northern Sweden!
I have a X-t30. I agree that the Q menu button is completly out of place. However I came up with a solution for it. Instead of being a Q menu button I turned it into a RAW button. It works for me that by default use JPEG but sometimes, depending the subject, want a RAW file too. In that case I dont have to change the configurations all the time, just press the Q button I have a RAW file along with the JPEG file, and if I accidentaly press the Q button the worse thing that happen is to take a shot in RAW.
Hi Omar I have to say I have really enjoyed the XT20 thanks to your great videos. I am fortunate to have Xpro2 and XH1 which are both great and resulted in the XT20 not getting much use. However I am now using the XT20 manual focus voigtlander lenses. I bought a K & F adaptor for about $20 off Amazon and a tiny voigtlander 35 mm F2.5 color Skopar for about $400 and have switched everything on the camera to completely manual. Seems a strange thing to do in this world of auto everything but I can’t tell you how much fun it has been. Also the focus peaking (red high) is fabulous. So every now and then I have a “manual” “low tech” day and I have found it has really energized the creative process and brought my XT20 back to life. Definitely worth a try and might be an interesting subject for a video. Anyways for anybody getting in to the Fuji system Xt20 still great. Thanks for all the great content and regards from the desert. Steve. Dubai.
Great video Omar! I too enjoy your style and humor as well as your way of pointing out the good the bad and the ugly. You've made another convert to your channel !!
Good call out on the touchscreen. Sadly, Ive got a big schnoz and I’m constantly moving focus with my nose. I call it “gazonking”. I’ve disabled the touchscreen entirely.
I dont know for whatever reason,I keep on watching this video over and over again!Perhaps it’s humor,Omar,my man!Plus the way you well-done explanation!Keep it up bro!
The L-bracket (at least the MHG-XT10) solves the tripod mount of X-Tx0 bodies. It moves the tripod mounting hole to the axis of the lens and allows replacing the the stuff in the battery chamber. Plus it adds much better handling to these smaller bodies.
You are too funny, subbed. Looking to get a Fuji camera to bring with me everywhere, didn't expect to laugh so much researching these. Thank you my man
I know I'm watching this long after the event in 2021 but I love my X-T30 (a camera is for Christmas but a youtube video lives forever!). It's a great little camera. I must admit I don't use the touch screen that much. It's a great way to operate the camera on a tripod but I turn it off when shooting hand held because my nose tends to randomly activate it when I put the camera to my eye. My only bugbear is the Q button. My hands are probably just above average but not huge and I regularly catch the Q button by accident. And I'm sure someone will have mentioned this in the comments by now (too many to read) but you can assign ISO to the front command dial for quick access; and if you fit a lens without an apperture ring you can use it to operate both by pressing the front command dial to flip between ISO and apperture. Neat.
Can you give me a feeling about the weather resistance of Xt3 and Xt30? Perhaps I went out to sea, the Xt30 will be more easily damaged than Xt3. I only take pictures and very rarely do movies that do not know which two types will suit me.
I got the xt-3 before the xt-30 was released. I went fuji for the tactile buttons since I'm after a fun experience to get me out of the house more on weekends. I don't have any regrets about spending the extra money for the better ergonomics and extra function buttons on the XT-3
I actually use an X-T30 and I can say that I missclicked the Q quite a lot, took me some time to get how to properly hold the camera and now it isn't an issue anymore but I agree with you.
Upgraded from XT20 to XT30 mainly because of flicker reduction. Shoot a lot of indoor sports under LED tubes. Also switched AF-L and Q button. Now I can use backfocus on Q. Btw always a joy to watch your videos.
I am testing out an X-T30 and I totally agree with your comments about the Q button. I have small hands, and over the last two days of using this camera I cannot tell you how many times I have hit the Q button inadvertently... so frustrating. Great videos, by the way -- they have really helped me find my way around this camera easily!
Hi everyone, so for me coming from d90, and tape mainly pictures of m'y daughter, family, etc Is it better To take x-h1 (x-t2 improved for video) or xt30?
I never comment on any videos but I have to say this is the best review video I have EVER watched (and I have watched a lot) this was extremely fun and made the experience of choosing a camera much less stressful. Thank you!!
I really enjoy your videos. Lots of useful information in a fun presentational style. I do miss some things as your style is so quick but I look at other channels and pick those up there. I still watch yours for the fun and buzzy experience. 👍
I had an X-E3 briefly before settling on the X-T30 so its my first Fuji. Love the out of camera JPGs which was one of my major reasons for going Fuji in the first place. The q menu placement doesn't bother me nor does using the dials to navigate the menu. I actually don't use the joystick much but I would like to see more buttons rather than swiping gestures. I have 35mm and 50mm F2 lenses and the 16mm F1.4 primes. Just picked up the el cheapo plastic 50-230mm zoom. Thanks for the great video Omar you are hilarious as usual.
The single-digit Fuji X-series can also be setup to use singlehanded, using the front and back index&thumb dials. Set the shutter speed dial to “T”, and you’re good...
I was going to get an x-t30 but think the lack of dpad and where the Q button is has pretty much put me off. Think I'll pick up a good second hand X-T2 instead.
Came from an X-T1 to this. Missed the D pad but now I love the swipe functions and joystick. The Q button I don't mind. Rarely hit it accidentally. Loving the camera! So much fun
I just bought an x-t30ii with xc15-45 and I'm testing it. I detect a problem that I need to understand if it is a feature of the machine or a defect. If I set the image stabilization to continue, no problem. If I set the stabilization to "shoot only", the stabilization should be active while I hold down the shutter button. This happens but ONLY if the autofocus mode is on AF-C. If the focus is on AF-S or manual, stabilization does not work. How to fix? It's normal? Thank you for your answer.
I have an X-T1 and 2, I use the 18 to 135 mostly, my problem is somehow, my fat fingers are moving the front SCM dial to M. I know I should pay attention to the viewfinder box (focus area) and it will light up when in focus, but I am not. How can I lock that dial. I did just purchase the manual 12mm lens. So will I have to move that dial to M when using that lens. Thanks
I love my XT 20! I like the joystick in the XT30, but if I have to choose 1, the pad all day. Regarding the Q botton, I completly agree with you. It's not a good place for shooting considering the already medium to small grip!
Love your videos. Restarting photography after a few years (less travel, COVID etc.) A couple of questions. Have a XE-2 with XF18-55, XF100-400, XF60M. Got a TTArtisan 35/1.4 recently. Have a couple of SONY A mount glasses too (SAL1680ZA and SAL70300G) from SONY days. Phytography is purely a hobby for me - travels, family, some birds. Not a fan of video. Sitting on the fence if to get a LA EA5 adaptor and a E mount body as I am not able to sell the SONY lenses so that they are put to use OR keep them aside and get a Fuji body to have another camera. (Have a A mount to X adaptor to use them on pure manual mode for now) If Fuji body, is it worth getting a XT2 new now in 2023 as it is very cheap with one seller in UAE OR better to get XT4 or XT5.
I really love my X-T30. But I recently upgraded to my X-T4 with 16-55mm and am so happy now. The X-T30 was fantastic but just lacked the image stabilisation and weather resistance to pair with the great f2.8 16-55mm zoom at its full potential. Now that I have the X-T4, I also appreciate things like the better 'holdability' (despite its greater weight) and better button layout. But it's true that the X-T30 still produced some of my best pics, with the f1.2 56mm prime especially. The low weight and size of the X-T30 is a real strength, and I used to carry it with three lenses whereas I tend to just carry the X-T4 with that one big 16-55mm (it's about weight and the space in my 5L camera slingbag). I should add that I did use the 18-55mm with the X-T30 (which has IS), but that lens is just much less reliable at taking sharp shots than the (much larger) 16-55mm. Now that I have the current combo of X-T4 and 16-55mm, it's as if a calm has descended and I can at long last take the shots I want quickly and with good sharpness, with the flexibility of a zoom. But I'm still fairly new to photography, and I predict that I'll start to edge back to primes in future and maybe find renewed value in those X-T30 combos I used before. And yes, the button placement of the X-T30's Q button is bad (I don't bump it often, but when I do it throws me off).
I owned the original X100, X10, X-Pro1, etc, back when they were current. Absolutely loved them. I never owned any of the 2nd generation Fuji stuff, but really wanted the X-Pro2. Last week, rather than buying the X-Pro2, I decided to get the X-T30. Being completely honest, the image quality is great. The focus is great. The continuous AF in video is insane. The touch screen is very nice and accurate. However, the ergonomics and controls have been driving me crazy. I really can't seem to get used to it and start enjoying the experience of using the camera (even after adding an additional grip, shutter release button, etc). So, two days ago, I bought a mint condition X-T1 with a bunch of accessories. My idea was that, if I enjoyed the ergonomics and controls of the X-T1, then I would sell the X-T30 and buy the X-T3. If I didn't like using the X-T1, then I would just give up on the X-T series and get the X-Pro2 like I wanted. Well, after shooting with both cameras back and forth, doing a bunch of image quality tests (RAW and JPEG, using the same lenses and taking photos of the same scenes, etc), I decided to sell the X-T30 and just keep the X-T1. Also, fun fact; I couldn't see much difference in the files when looking at them side by side in Lightroom or Capture One. The only thing that jumped out to me as obviously different was the temperature and hue of the files, which was easy to correct to match. Despite the higher resolution of the X-T30, it didn't really look any sharper or more detailed on the computer at 100%. I am sure I would notice a difference if I was doing an enormous print, then inspecting it with a magnifying glass. But, short of that, the 26mp didn't seem to actually have any practical benefit over the 16mp. I have also heard a lot of photographers saying that Fuji has changed their color science in recent years and the straight out of camera JPEGs no longer have the same magic that they used to. So, I actually tested this by taking a photo of the same scene with each camera (switching the lens from one body to the other), making sure all the settings on each camera were the same and they were using the same film simulation, then I posted a side by side comparison of the straight out of camera JPEGs to my instagram (double blind, nobody knew which cameras were used to which photo) and had people vote on which they preferred. It was close, but, the X-T1 actually ended up getting 113 votes, vs the X-T30's 110 votes. Just food for thought. I just posted my X-T30 and accessories for sale and have switched over to the X-T1, full time, until I buy the X-Pro2.
I’ve been watching your channel for years and I’m surprised that I just noticed your Steinhart Ocean 39. I have one too and I love it! I have a Rolex Explorer and an IWC Portuguese, and those are great, but I can’t seem to take the Steinhart off. You can beat this much ‘quality for an honest price’. I’m also thinking about getting the Starbucks model at some point.. I love your channel! Take care!
I bought the x-t20, I don't take many pictures of moving objects. I saved money and the quality of the photos is practically the same. I also prefer the programmable dpad instead of the jostick.
I found that folding a piece of electrical tape over itself on the edge of the SD card to make a little tab really made it a lot easier to get out of the slot. Especially if you have the extended grip!
I’ve used Fuji x series for 7 years professionally, including X-T1, 2, 3 4 (for a week 🤬), 20 & 30 - anyone watching this video listen to Omar, he’s absolutely ‘spot on’ in every aspect of his video👍. All great cameras but some are greater than others- my favourites X-T3 👏 xT20 🤫 it’s a secret gem 😎
Totally agree with you on the madness of Fuji removing the D-pad and placing the quick menu button on the thumb rest for the x-t30. I bought the xe3, which has a similar configuration, but then returned it largely for those reasons. Fuji, what were you thinking?!?!
I switched from the xt10 to the xt2 my reasoning for it My xt10 died because suprise suprise bad weather I was really hoping to have a small camera with weather sealing but fuji didn't deliver so i went for the xt2 and i love it and its raining and i can go out with my camera without pampering it to much... And seriously why remove the D-pad **sighs** fuji don't fix something that ain't broken
I would get the X-T30. But it really depends on your needs. Or, wait for the X-T3 replacement; probably an X- T4. The X-T30 today; right now. Other options would be x-Pro 2, or X-H1 is still great. Also, look at the Sony’s 6400./ 6500.. Nikon’s coming out with a Z5. Look at all your camera options - including Canon. Good luck - you got so many choices out there.
If you had to choose between the x-t20 with a xf 35mm f2 and the x-t30 with a xf 18-55mm f2.8-4 which combo would you choose (for a beginner)? Pricewise I could get both for nearly the same. Would very much appreciate your recommendation & love your videos - so much fun to watch!!
Hey , So i am looking to switch my d5300 Nikon and go to the Fujifilm world, The photography is only a hobby for me , and most of the time i am taking pictures , never use video , What is your advice , should i start with the xt30 or xt20 , the price is the same .
i have an X-T20 which fell and have problem with the internal battery to retain camera setting (fuji are not repairing the model anymore). Looking to upgrade, any recommendations? or maybe get a new X-T20 again?
Hey Omar, i just wanted to say, i recently bought a silicone case for the x-t30 and it actually makes the Q button recessed, so, you can't press it by accident. Just figured I'd offer that as a solution to your struggles!
Great Video. I bought the XT30 after watching this. As I am a casual photographer and mainly use it for personal use those negative don't bother or really come up in my use.
I use the joystick to navigate menus on the X-T3 and X-H1. I don't see why it's a problem. For me, it's better than the D-pad because I can't inadvertantly press the wrong direction like I can with the D-pad.
just stumbled across this video because I'm looking to buy a new camera, but boy youre funny! keep up the good work, informative but still entertaining!
is it good for film making? because i am trying to find the best camera under £1000 for filming, and it seems to me the Fuji is only for photography??? thanks
I needed help to decide, which one to buy, i am buying one of these, both comes in similar price here in Thailand : 1. Fujifilm xt20 with kit lens 18-55mm f 2.8-4 2. Fujiflim xt30 with kit lens 15-45mm f 3.5-5. Both are around 750$ i am not sure which one to buy.
I just got an XT10. My first fuji after using nikon the last 4 years. The fuji has taught me more about manual shooting in 2 months than 4 years with the nikon 3300. Im so thankful for your channel. You make me want to be a better photographer. Heres a question. You get to choose one prime lens for the fuji for a week of shooting. Which do you choose?
Agree with you on your thoughts on the X-T30. And yes, I hit the Q button a fair bit. It's annoying for sure. Also another big gripe for me is that you can't send RAW files over direct wifi connection. Just JPGs. Let me send my raws to my phone so I can open them in the Lightroom app, Fuji.
I did a photo walk the other day using this camera courtesy of Fujifilm and PROCAM, and it was fun to shoot with, although I didn't do any video with it! I shot video on my iphone for the vlog on my channel about the day (cough, cough, plugs my channel). I also agree wholeheartedly about the Fuji jpegs, too: so nice! I still need to buy a 27mm pancake, for sure. Great review!
Wow. I’ve been reading camera reviews for 40 years. This is among the best because you focus on what serious _photographers_ need to know. Well done and thank you!
I don't know about anyone else, but I'd come here to see Omar no matter what the subject matter. The man just cracks-me-up! 🤪
haha...Next subject matter: Tax law.
@@ogonzilla
Uh, let me rephrase that ...
CHRIS LJ agreed :) this is my second video and I’m here to stay!
@@ogonzilla Hey! I'm a tax lawyer, and I resemble that remark !
Seriously, I keep coming back for the " stimulation" right Bro! :-)
The only guy that tested Fuji and was not happy about one specific dial was Jared Polin. The dial was the aperture ring on the lenses
I love your videos, Omar. They are so entertaining and informative. I currently upgraded from the x-t20 to the x-t30 with a lot of doubt if it is necessary. Omar, if photography doesn't work out you can still have a promising career in comedy. You're a funny man. Good info on the photography part though !
you all prolly dont care but does anybody know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account..?

Yep, that hand grip makes a huge difference but it’s a bit on the heavy side. There are some 3rd party manufacturers that make them too
So much positive energy ... I learn even more about impression yourself than about gear ...
Completely agree with you for the joystick. Got the same complain with the X-E3
Just starting the video and I’m always saying “amen” bc I’m here for the act reason why you started using fugi.

Best deal on any fuji camera has got to be a new X-T2. Same price as the X-T30, 900.00, and a lot more camera. In my opinion.
I agree. It's hard not to recommend as a band for the buck. Used ones also going for $600-$700.
That X-T30 has the new X-T3 sensor and processor though right ?!
True. But unless your going to do a lot of video and quick action I don't think your going to notice any difference with the sensor or processor.
explain why it is a lot more camera???
Yes, comparing with the a6400 would be an interesting video:)

That Auto dial is a genius idea, I have used it and was a very important feature for some situations..
What would your recommendation be between fuji x-t30 or sony a6400.
Also wondering this
anyone?
I also want to know that
Same question
I think: for more video - a6400 , for photo in major - fuji
Anton Hei yeah not even considering going x-T20 -> x-t30.
Love your videos. Restarting photography after a few years (less travel, COVID etc.)
A couple of questions.
(Have a A mount to X adaptor to use them on pure manual mode for now)
If Fuji body, is it worth getting a XT2 new now in 2023 as it is very cheap with one seller in UAE OR better to get XT4 or XT5.
Also, fun fact;
I couldn't see much difference in the files when looking at them side by side in Lightroom or Capture One.
Thats crazy, the ergonomics of the xt30 are bad. We shall see if adding a grip and thumb rest helps
Take care!
Omar, my XT30 is always overheating when record a video ??? Can you help me
I bought the x-t20, I don't take many pictures of moving objects.
New to photography and looking at this camera. Enjoyed the video and this camera is numero uno on my list at present Thanks from rural Lincolnshire uk
Xt30 to Xh2. Backup to primary. Xt30 is a beast and will be a great backup in a year.
I was having the same thought as well!
2:16 love the Camera Conspiracies guy reference there hahahaha (he's so funny)
I just know him as the Vegetable Conspiracies guy, I did't even know he has a second channel! Funny indeed!
This is the first video I have ever watched of yours and it was an instant subscribe. This is great info and you are hilarious 😂
Totally agree with you on the madness of Fuji removing the D-pad and placing the quick menu button on the thumb rest for the x-t30. I bought the xe3, which has a similar configuration, but then returned it largely for those reasons. Fuji, what were you thinking?!?!
I switched from the xt10 to the xt2 my reasoning for it
My xt10 died because suprise suprise bad weather
I was really hoping to have a small camera with weather sealing but fuji didn't deliver so i went for the xt2 and i love it and its raining and i can go out with my camera without pampering it to much...
And seriously why remove the D-pad **sighs** fuji don't fix something that ain't broken
Been using the x-t30 for 3 months now. The only issue for me is the overheating.
Ever consider Sony rx 100 vi for traveling if you like small cameras?
Can you save individual WB color shifts per recipe in XT30 mark 1?
I would get the X-T30. But it really depends on your needs. Or, wait for the X-T3 replacement; probably an X- T4. The X-T30 today; right now. Other options would be x-Pro 2, or X-H1 is still great. Also, look at the Sony’s 6400./ 6500.. Nikon’s coming out with a Z5. Look at all your camera options - including Canon. Good luck - you got so many choices out there.
Alex Nikon Great advice!!
Is the xt30 better than the 5d mark iii?
X-T20 my first proper camera. Was struggling until I found your channel Omar. Many thanks. X-T20 all day pour moi.
Hopin to see you in a big screen , ill definitly watch the primier! 😅
Hey ,
So i am looking to switch my d5300 Nikon and go to the Fujifilm world,
The photography is only a hobby for me , and most of the time i am taking pictures , never use video ,
What is your advice , should i start with the xt30 or xt20 , the price is the same .
Actually as a Xpro3 and XT30 owner, I would say Fuji has updated the joystick in xpro3
What would TRULY bug me is that blank/black area on right side of display.
i have an X-T20 which fell and have problem with the internal battery to retain camera setting (fuji are not repairing the model anymore). Looking to upgrade, any recommendations? or maybe get a new X-T20 again?
What is the setting for your most portrait photography in this video? The color looks so nice? What film simulation you used?
The little bits of personality are greatly appreciated most these camera videos can be pretty boring.
just stumbled across this video because I'm looking to buy a new camera, but boy youre funny! keep up the good work, informative but still entertaining!
So nice of you! Thanks!
For the ISO can you set also one of the two dials? (I mean shutter or aperture dials like on Canon cameras)
Yes
Vítor Machado thankss
X-t30 is on sale right now for $799 body only, $1099 for 18-55 f2.8-4 kit. Super deal
I'm deciding between x-t20 and x-t30, but I also take quite a lots pictures of my pets. Which one should I get? X-t30 maybe?
is it good for film making? because i am trying to find the best camera under £1000 for filming, and it seems to me the Fuji is only for photography??? thanks
hello sir.
which one would be better choice for video recording between fujifilm xt2 and xt30.
the bigger ones do have slightly better ergonomics but honestly, I have an xt30 and it doesn't feel bad whatsoever, I have small hands right enough..
I needed help to decide, which one to buy, i am buying one of these, both comes in similar price here in Thailand :
1. Fujifilm xt20 with kit lens 18-55mm f 2.8-4
Your first comment about your Canon DSLR is why I don't take my 5D Mark iii out anymore, it is so much weight.
Can you assign what the Q button does to a different button?
What can we do about the extremely short battery life of the Fuji cameras? Which model has the longest life?
Bought mine recently and the q menu and size hasn't been any issue whatsoever
Thanks for the video so hopeful dear Omar , can you take astro photo with this camera please and how about the settings thank you 🙏🏼
