Bought the X-T30 + the 23mm f2.0 lens from Amazon for $899, total ! That's it ! Canon 5DMK4 owner, GH4 owner, GH5 owner, Sony A7S owner, and thee only thing I'm using right now is the X-T30, all the way. Shooting a mini-doc on w/ it as we speak and so far so good. Image quality is great, not noisy at all, super light, battery lasts long, have a Sony 128GB card in there, this camera is perfect for what I do, as well as shoot photos.
I'm thinking about this at 850€, but xh1 is around 1050 and xt3 at 1250. I like grip and ibis of xh1 but don't know how af is limited compared to xt3. Xt30 seems to be a great bargain, but way soo small for my hands 😕 I'm an amateur, maybe sometimes can use it for youtube video and usually with tele. The only pain is the small body and the non weather sealing. Xt3 is quite expensive, out of budget to get a good starting lens with.
Helpful summary. I bought the X-T30 because I already have an X-T2 and the upgrade benefits of the X-T3 were not really substantial in my opinion. The smallness for street photography and travel is what I needed. Honestly the difference in image quality on the XT-2 is not noticeable, and the X-T2s autofocus is still wonderful even though the X-T3 is superior.
Yeah the only thing I like about XT 3 series is the WR...don't care for anything else about it... size sucks also. Prefer lighter for hiking/travel/street...which is basically all I shoot.
XT30 is a watered down version of the XT3. If you intend using it for pro use, XT3 is your camera. Even though priced higher than the XT30, its still considerably cheaper than it's FF competitors like the A7III and EOS R.
Spot on. The only thing I'd add is the difference in low light vs the A7iii. I use the XT3 for daytime wedding vid and Sony when reception and the evening hits.
One difference not addressed in most comparisons I have seen is that XT-3 uses UHS II card but XT-30 uses a UHS I memory card which s slower. I still went with XT-30 (get it next week) as a backup to my XH-1 which has many desirable features, except size. -
Thanks. Your video clears things up. I prefer a small size, I don't do video, only shoot still subjects, don't need weather-sealing or dual slots, use only auto ISO, and far prefer flip down to flip out. Looks like the X-T30 is made to order.
I shoot wearing eye glasses. The X-T3 viewfinder is designed to work well while wearing eye glasses (more distance for eyepoint). I know the X-T30 viewfinder has less distance for eyepoint, and is therefore not as good for wearing glasses. What I need to figure out is if X-T30 viewfinder is good enough.
Wish the XT3 had a built in flash like the XT30, for the kind of street photography I do, it really comes in handy to have a built in flash, and the XT30 delivers just the perfect amount of light almost everytime.
Thank you so much for so detailed size comparison shots. I specifically searched for small body that could fit into a coat/jacket pocket with pancake lens attached and the T-x0 series fits quite nice. T-x not so much. Going even smaller there is MFT Olympus E-PL8 with a pancake zooms/primes.
Ill get the XT3, because I just got started, and Id rather pay more and not think that I am missing out on things I need in the future, than buying the cheaper model and later finding out, that I need more stuff
you do realize there is a difference between phase detection pixels and auto focus points right? The 2.1 million phase detection pixel is not the same as auto focus points. They are not the same concept. Maybe you should get your facts straight before making a claim like that...
I’m kinda stuck because i would get the xt30 for my needs, but the better viewfinder and handling of the xt3 are something that i would apreciate very much, are those two factors worth it?
The reason the XT-3 doesn't have a built-in flash is that it's considered a professional body. That's not a deficit. Most pro-level bodies don't have internal flashes.
Alright, thanks for the video! Started wondering about the two because of all their similarities, however it seems that my heart is going towards the xt3. The reason for that is that i own a XT10 which is a great camera but want/need something with better quality for landscapes (no debate here...), low light, cityscape and street photography. The deal breaker on the XT30, that I just discovered thanks to your video, is the missing D-pads. I have it on my XT10 and use it for ergonomics (shortcuts especially) if I don't have this flexibility this means waste of time and when shooting I don't always have hours ahead of me (or have people pushing me around :D). In addition, being a landscape photographer WR is a good feature (although my XT10 never let me down event after being quite wet and dusty), flip screen is really something I miss from time to time. and finally, the good quality and larger view finder is a great "nice to have feature" (which help to justify the price of the XT3 too). I think I'll go for the XT3 and keep my XT10 as a back up or second camera as I really love its small size and weight.
The record limit of 10 minutes on the XT-30 makes it pretty unusable for video when recorded internally in my opinion. I find the 30 minute cap annoying enough. I also wonder if you hit record straight away after it hits the cap if it will straight away overheat, which I think it might. That’s why I bought a GH5s, sometimes for corporate events we are recording for over 2 hrs straight and can’t have the cameras overheating or cutting out. Also worth noting that it’s nice in the XT3 that it has 10 bit, but it’s h.265 which is crazy demanding when editing, it will definitely need to be transcoded if you are using Premiere Pro if you haven’t got a super computer, I’ve heard it’s better with Final Cut and Davinci though. They look like good options for hybrid shooters, but have a lot of quirks I think people aren’t aware of when just reading a spec sheet.
NXN Musi, I can't agree enough on the standard 30 min or 10 min egg timers on cameras. That's why I've been using the G7 and GX85 for a long time for unmanned tripod long video shoots in 4k. The sony A6400 is so tempting since they lifted the 30 min cap. I really hope that Sony will do this on all their future cameras. I want the A7III but the 30 minute limit is not an option. That limit is guaranteed to ruin many videos.
jeffhalebopp yeah a lot of these cameras are classic form over function. They give them the smallest possible bodies which really limits what they are capable of. I would much prefer a slightly bigger body that doesn’t overheat and has more functions. The record limit was due to tax reasons I believe as well, I think that was lifted for 2019. Hopefully that means all cameras should have unlimited record time in the future as long as they don’t overheat...

You need to clean your house. Vacuuming needed. Too much dust on camera. There is a dust even on your camera sensor! That means your house is seriously full of dust.
Love the xt30 but the video record limit is a joke. Even with an external recorder you will get overheating...but that's over an hr. I've used the xt30 and a6400. If the video was better I'd easily chose the xt30, bit not with that weak recording limit.
@@Princeton_James You could use the remote app to start/stop the recording at key breaks in the presentation - like say if the lecturer stops to drink water or if there is a point where there is non-important information like telling some needless joke or some story about his kids etc... just an idea
The problem with your video is that you are judging the X-T30 based on a professional photographer's needs. You are not reading your target audience correctly. Your viewers for this video are beginners and amateurs who are not looking for a camera to do professional level or work. These viewers would prefer to have a mode dial rather than an ISO dial and they would prefer to have a built-in flash rather than forking over more money for an external one. Come on man, come down from the rafters and know your audience and address them based on THEIR needs. Not yours.

Are they made of same material? in other video guy said X30 is made of composite, T3 is from magnesium alloy
Yep XT30 feels like a holga. Lol. But still great images.
X-t3 is to small why would you buy something smaller
I would think for people traveling and needing something ultra compact.
How is af on xt3(with 1.4 lenses)? i would like to see comparision against sony a6400
I find it works really well especially with the eye detect, its really responsive and accurate.
Dust on your sensor at 4:31
Yup there sure is haha had to keep it off these mirrorless cameras especially when doing open camera sensor shots like this
Buy X-T4. Much better (IBIS and very good battery!) and sometimes even cheaper than X-T3.
B@H now is selling the X-T3 for only $999, just $100 more than the X-T30, due to the new Fujifilm X-T4
Does the xt3 and xt30 screen size the same?
To Ni yes, what is diferent is the evf (x0.74 vs x.62 magnification)
You need to clean your house. Vacuuming needed. Too much dust on camera. There is a dust even on your camera sensor! That means your house is seriously full of dust.
1:59 - this Q button placement is a total shit, I just HATE this camera because of it! It's annoyingly easy to press it accidentally!
Xt3 all the way. No D pad and poor Q button placement kills the xt30
X pro1 x ever
Nice 2 cameras BUT Make sure you rent the camera using the links below 😂 almost believed u tho 😂😂😂hahaha jist kidding man
Love the xt30 but the video record limit is a joke. Even with an external recorder you will get overheating...but that's over an hr. I've used the xt30 and a6400. If the video was better I'd easily chose the xt30, bit not with that weak recording limit.
What would you be recording where you need to let one clip last longer than 10min ? Do you shoot documentaries ?
@@TopshelfJunior prob about 50 minute lectures/presentations. I feel like you're getting to close to the limit at that point.
@@Princeton_James You could use the remote app to start/stop the recording at key breaks in the presentation - like say if the lecturer stops to drink water or if there is a point where there is non-important information like telling some needless joke or some story about his kids etc... just an idea
Man children in baseball hats are not my preferred authority . If I wanted a review of the latest dab rigs, maybe ..
Hi af same as xt3!
looks wayyyyy to small
The problem with your video is that you are judging the X-T30 based on a professional photographer's needs. You are not reading your target audience correctly. Your viewers for this video are beginners and amateurs who are not looking for a camera to do professional level or work. These viewers would prefer to have a mode dial rather than an ISO dial and they would prefer to have a built-in flash rather than forking over more money for an external one. Come on man, come down from the rafters and know your audience and address them based on THEIR needs. Not yours.
Video is irrelevant, i use blue tooth on my X-H1 a lot im looking at it as a back up camera vs X-E3.
english lesson 101: the word is VERSUS, not VERSE. as in This versus that. Verse is a different thing in our great language.
“Until”, not “till”
