Because he/she feels relatable unlike the warden or the inquisitor. Those two are just important figures. Hawke is a just a refuge who wants to lookout for themselves and their family and friends.
@@spiderz5145 i wouldn't go that far, while they weren't what you'd call the chosen one in the case of the Inquisitor, or someone who can end the blight and slay an archdemon as a warden, they were just a person who became someone. that's what makes Hawke so compelling and unique, they were just a person who got too caught up in everything that was going on in kirkwall and throughout the free marches. but based on what we know about the Amell's, Hawke isn't exactly normal. what was in Hawke's blood made them slightly stronger than the average person, but that's why even when you play as a mage, most people don't sense it, even the templars are unable to detect. it's only when you reveal the mage part, or like Fenris, since he sees you casting spells, he'll bring it up. he said i should've known sooner, meaning if your hawke was something else he would've known. but all mages cast spells, and you can't exactly hide that. that's why Cassandra had a hard time buying Hawke being a mage, she makes a good point, but we have to remember that what we see play out in DA2 can be a bit far fetched. i played a mage one time as Marion Hawke, got the peace option with the Qunari and became Viscount. Varric isn't a complete liar, but he does like to make Hawke out to be this unstoppable force. remember the scene with him charging into Bertrands home like a one man army, no one's gonna buy that act, even Cassandra saw through that one, but i still like how the game through that in there. we heard Varric's voice for the DA4 trailer, so it'll be interesting if the new protagonist is more like Hawke. somebody that goes from being an unknown to someone important by the end game, we know the Inquisitor will likely play a major role, we most likely won't play as them. that means how we played as them, might not reflect how they ll be as a character we don't control. some people weren't fans of how Hawke was handled, but imagine if the Warden did have a role, people would likely complain about that to. originally people didn't care as much about Hawke as much as the Warden when Inquisition was fairly new out, it was bad enough people complained about DA2 not having the Warden. i loved the Warden, but not every game series needs the same returning protagonist everytime. that worked for Mass Effect because Bioware had a tone of writing even before the first game came out, with Dragon Age it's all based on the D&D lore, and with D&D there's so many ways you can write a story. the dark spawn if you really think about it, in Origins they looked like goblins, but instead of green they have this reddish colored skin. but you see plenty of ogres which is basically an orc. the only thing you won't find in D&D are wardens, that's because a warrior doesn't need to bring some blood in order to slay a dragon, but that's what they came up with for a story. but the whole blight thing and dark spawn are only part of the story, how the blight began is the real story.
DA2 had such repetitive gameplay, but it's still my favorite game in the series. Hawke was just the best, and the whole crew of Disaster Bis was just spectacular.

Dragon Age 2 has benefitted immensely from hindsight. At the time it was a big disappointment as things got stripped down in favour of focusing on the restructured combat, and it does still have issues that Id love to see fixed with a remaster. But stripping the scale of the narrative down from a whole nation to a City-State and its surroundings was such a wise idea, it really allowed them to develop the characters and stories in that locale in a way that made it all feel really alive and lived in. To each their own. Even with all its problems, I will always say that DA2 is better than DAO. DAO was this typical "big bad evil" storyline we have in most games and movies. It wasn't anything new. People love the game, because they finally got a good RPG after so many years. DA2 on the other hand was fresh with ideas. Storyline wasn't about being a savior of everyone. It was about Hawke - you - and her friends. About corruption in one city and its politics. That's what makes it way more superior in my eyes than Origins.
@@AshiiX6 IMO DAO was never really about the storyline and narrative, rather about the characters and companions and their interactions with the world and their relationships with each other. I don't know if they have a monologue but if you're by yourself the inquisitior will make the comments that your party normally do instead.
The Inquisitor is boring, so I doubt it.
@@SeventhheavenDK the inquistor is boring. a goody two shoes, like the warden and hawke both seem very sassy and blunt but when you try to be sassy in inquistion always seems to get the most hate by companions other then varric and sera
@@pride2184 Solas tends to like sarcasm actually. Dorian too. Bull too. And ironically, even Cassandra loves it, possibly more than any other companion. "The Inquisitor was hilarious, that's what they'll say one day, just watch."
Stop hating on superior games. The Warden didn't even have a voice. They literally couldn't be funny.
@@TheStraightestWhitest never claimed the warden to be funny. Funny doesnt mean better. Alot of funny people arent good people. Same with games. Solas eh didnt care for, cool to find out more about the gods but solas and morrigan and flemth is kinda showed that these old gods of tevinter and elves have alot in common. Lore wise seems good. I love lore. We were talking about gameplay mainly, dragon age origins and dragon age 2 the characters mainly fought for you with not that much interference you needed if wanted click hot keys what abilities to use i didnt need to click every second like i do in skyrim. It works in skyrim cuz first person and youre hit do alot of damage. I play tbe hardest difficulty in all the dragon ages you just feel weaker and burned out. I literally wasn't having fun with playing the inquistor, while warden had cooler story of revenge of shiz. Hawke hilarious and witty and felt powerful to play as why they were a hero. Inquistor very button mashing felt more like a port from console to pc which is just sad.
lmfao im dying, i played all dragon age games literally 5x even more maybe and i still learned something new today
Funnily enough this entire monologue is bigger than the majority of party banters in this game.
Talking about loonies wandering the streets when she's the only one around.
What this game lacks in gameplay it makes up in its characters and storytelling. Hawke was Definitely the best player character in the entire franchise, and all the companions are memorable, unique and beautifully flawed.
Inquisition companions were also very remarkable but I still feel like Hawke has more personality than the Inquisitor, and relationships with Hawke felt so close because you were in a very tight group who helped each other with a lot of personal shit
I felt absolutely nothing to Inquisitor or her companions. Half I wanted to just kick out of the team and another half just was just... there. Inquisition failed for me in every aspect. Story, writing, protagonist, companions, gameplay... literally everything.
@@AshiiX6 The other characters just aren't the same, are they? I think DA:O had the best characters, DA2 had some good ones too. DA:I still had Varric, but I'm not that keen on too many of the others, and Vivienne I outright despise. didn't recruit her at all in my current playthrough.
@@danielharvison7510 I only liked Vivienne and Varric from Inquisition and even Varric didn't feel like himself, sadly. My fav companions are the ones from DA2, actually. They had the best dynamic with Hawke and with each other.
@@AshiiX6 really? i felt Inquisition did a remarkable job in its characters, story, and gameplay, especially with the Trespasser DLC.
Dragon Age: Origins will have a secure spot in my heart as one of the best games I have ever played.
But Dragon Age 2 is a good game on its own too.
she has personality, incredible
I find it funny that this is the same voice actress as Ciri
I do this all the time, I’ll mumble, mutter or in private outright speak aloud.
Anyone else catch themselves doing these irl? No? Just me?
I'm getting old. 😂
This game was a literal turture in nightmare difficulty seeing even this little video about the game still give me a ptsd after that many years
DA:2 got serious budget cuts and time problems. This would have been one of the GOAT games if the original vision could be achieved. The plots, characters and dialogue was really good. I think this one deserves a serious remake.
Thumb right in the bowl. His enchantment hand, too!
Hawke is going THROUGH it 😂 We're all been there.
shes under alot of stress
It's Ciri when she got lost in time and can't find her way back.
Sarcastic Hawke is best Hawke.
Meh. It's only a problem if you have arguments with yourself. And lose. It shouldn't be possible to lose an argument with yourself, so if you manage, then you know there's something wrong with you.
First fully voiced protagonist of dragon age flawlessly written.
I love how she says knot head like a northerner saying dickhead
There is also:
"Hawk this,Hawk that.
Why should I something something . "
I added something, something 😆
she became selfaware
I got this because I went to act 2 didn't have my party members so I did blackpowder promise and this quest because I though it was a solo mission, turns out I was just incompetent!
i wonder if there are more dialogues like this
Is your rogue wearing the Mage Champion outfit? 😂
Um, yes xD Sorry for the late reply. Long time ago I used a mod that swapped armor models :)
Mage armor looks the best, war second and rogue third. Too bad that i don't like mages. I play rogue. xD
I don't like warrior outfit at all. I also play as rogue all the time, but sometimes I swap between rogue set and mage :) I like both equally.
Well my canon Warden is a Dalish female rogue melee (in my headcanon melee up close and archer at range) and Female Hawke archer. Don't know what to play in Inquisition though. I don't want to make it full rogue heroes in my story. I would prefer mage but that's stupid because i will side with the Templars in my canon. xD I just fancy more ppl that put hard work and sweat to gain strength and not be born with special power that gives you an edge over others. Come to think of it... i don't want to have a full female heroes story. I want to make a male Inquisitor but the romance with Solas is so revealing about the Dalish. GOD DAMNIT! Hard choices!
Well, I had Human Female Rogue Warden. FemHawke rogue and my Inquisition is also human female rogue. I don't give a crap about how it looks. It'll just tell that rogues can kick asses like no one else :) I don't play mages because of the same reasons you stated. I prefer when my char work hard on, so she can gain something. Not saying mages don't work hard... but they train differently. Plus, playing as rogues is fun as hell. I tried playing as mages, but it quickly became boring to me.
In my canon:
Warden : Male (City Elf)
Hawke: Female
Inquisitor: Female
fem hawke is such a babe idk y maybe its her default design and her va
Lol I guess I'm the weird one for running around solo
I thought everyone knew about this
i never play DAO or DA2 solo, especially with DA2s terrible wave system so frankly im surprised someone does lol. I did play DAI solo however since party combat is atrocious and broken
that is golden
Totally forgot you could play this game without companions
AWESOME!! its there more??
Hahahahahahahahahahaha Hawke did you just admit you're a loony?
Started the game with male Hawke, then I found out Ciri VA voiced female Hawke, got abit excited but still, don't wanna start over again.
The VA did better job in this than in W3. Stll she gets owned by the male VA imo.
Hawke is best waifu in DA2 seriously Bioware what have you done to me?
Hmm yeah I wonder why that guy was looking at you hmm lol Next you will find yourself in the Blooming Rose drunk talking to a wall
Bro. Relatable.
I’m mad that I never knew she did this.
Нужен ремастер первых двух частей) (Need a remaster))
The end 🤣
cant have shit in kirkwall XD
I thought it was Morrigan with short hair
LOL
This is better than the other video; this one has subs :D
How did you trigger this?? Reasons.
Well, it's been years, but iirc, it's right after Viscount's son is killed. You have to do entire mission just with Hawke, without companions. Then after you leave the chantry, it triggers. Not sure if sarcastic personality is required or not, though. I only play with this one.
Never got that one
Hey, i do that! >:(
Imagine instead of Dragon Age 2, this game was called Kirkwall: A Dragon age Story or something like that. It would have been a lot better
...no
@@federicomachado811 well, we all have opinions
Wait, did Sandal lose a thumb?!
Why do you have 3 empty ability slots and why does it bother me so much?
why was this not a thing
Dragon age 2 is better then DA:Inquisition fight me.
It is but both are terrible. DA I is just even worse.
@@Dark_Voice they aren't
that's nice
Funny how yt recommends 11 year old vid lul
0:55 what is the movement there? tiktok influence?
Dragon Age 2 was the worst entry, with the best characters. It's tragic the game was so bad, while the crew was so good. Hawke, Varric, Isabella... Just name a few. Even Cassandra first appear here.
POV: you're looking bisexually
I think this was a nice idea but terrible execution - either VA doesnt do a good job so I think its directional failure. You gotta have more pauses and thoughts before the sentences otherwise it sounds like reading - completely unnatural pacing of the speech in this.
Male hawke version is better
Nope.
Link?
There is nothing a male hero can do that male heroes have not done a billion times before. a big reason why I tend to go female in my games. 'course, what with PC culture having drowned the gaming industry, there is so little difference between the sexes in games now it's all but nonexistent.
THis was one of the biggest disapointments of my gaming life, got this game for ps3 when it came out, it sucked big time I still hate this game.
It's great and you're not a bright person at all.
@@MerrillDragonAge Nah old man, this game sucks, got way more downvotes than upvotes, bad critics, and low ratings. People despite this crap, I guess you are weird and dumb
@@Ndobless And yet here you are, commenting on some old video. Seems like you can't move on from this "bad game".
good for u want a cookie?
This game was a total disappointment.
