wishbone346 As described in another comment(s): Fenris: "Uhhm...Well, I'm a hypocrite. Fuck the police?" _Walks back to Hawke's side_. Meredith: "Who the fuck are you again?"
AntiXaldin I guess metaphors are wasted on some people. Anyway. She is refering to mages falling to demons as a desperate last stand when they have no other choice. Even if that means being possessed by a demon, trapped inside your own body watching, as someone else moves it. Not speaking of mages, people in power often abuse it if they are afraid.
AntiXaldin A man with a pitchfork who's afraid of a blood mage would have a greater chance to attack than the blood mage who is not afraid of a man with a pitchfork. The Chantry was created out of fear. Abominations are created out of fear. Men abuse their power out of fear. Knight Commander Meredith went nuts because of her fear of the mages. Anders killed the Grand Cleric because of his fear of the Templars.

They don't leave with full rivalry either. That was the point of the friendship/rivalry meter, so they don't leave. Most of them only leave if you side against what they're for and if they're neither in a friendship or rivalry, or you haven't completed their personal quests.
As long as you do their companion quests, I think you can convince them to join you. @@bernieclinton9572 I disagree. She knew the risks and accepted them. She is far from naive when it comes to magic and demons. You can see that during her banter with Anders. The Keeper spread lies so that the clan would fear her (she said that Merrill is tainted and because of that an elf ran to his death) and sacrificed herself when nobody asked her to, thus leaving the already scared clan without a leader. Honestly, Aveline leaving instead of fighting Hawkw really does it for me. You can tell she really loves/respects Hawke enough to attack them. Interesting how even the characters you romance can turn on you but Aveline will refuse to turn her blade towards you
That's even worse. First of all, you have the most things in common with Aveline, no matter how you pull it. You are both from Fereldan, came at the same time as refugees to Kirkwall, lost your loved one, together you found your way in the city. No one shares that bond with you, not even Varric. Somehow, when she leaves you in your own ruin, it feels like you lost your 2nd sister due to how disappointing in you she truly is.
Jesus, a year away from fenris I thought I'd have gotten over him already. I find this video, see him again and hear his voice once more, suddenly forgotten affections spring back as if it had never laid dormant.
@@Testingthisname Say what you wish about the validity of his opinions, but calling Fenris neutral is just false. He has every reason to be biased AGAINST mages. Tevinter mages led him to believe that mages are inherently corrupt and should be protected from themselves at any cost. This is the pro-templar viewpoint and not a neutral one. He's been hurt by mages and it shows. Biased doesn't necessarily mean incorrect, it just means he has a reason to be anti mage right off the bat. It's his base view. In contrast, take Varric. Of all the companions, Varric has the least reason to have an opinion about the mage/templar conflict. He's a dwarf, so he's not a mage, and he wasn't raised to fear mages like many humans were. He hasn't been treated poorly by mages. His opinion is meant to reflect Hawke's, which could go either way. Is he the most educated/experienced? No, that honor goes to Anders and Fenris for their respective viewpoints (pro and anti mage), but Varric is the only person without an inherent opinion about the mage/templar conflict. This makes him a neutral party.
@@Testingthisname that’s actually what makes Fenris the most biased. Because he has only bad experiences with mages as a slave from Tevinter, it makes him biased against mages, something we see constantly throughout the game.
Pega Doodle I understand. It's the first time I ever saw those scenes, and even if my Hawke loved Fenris in-universe, it's Merrill and Aveline who break my heart here. :(
+MrsHalloweenJack Merrill is usually so delightfully naive most of the time. Seeing her like this, feeling betrayed and threatened by a friend... it's too much. It's not right...
i hate the most is the bitch named Grace...who you rescue using varric's silver tongue only to betray you by kidnapping your sibling later on...and turning on you for "working with Meredith" thoough i'd still bang Merrill [just not her DA: O self]
HulCAWmania Universe Oh my god yes I hated her so much. No matter what you did she still did that. Helped her and sided with the mages the entire playthrough? Yep, she's still going to do that. I recently played an extremely pro-mage rogue and she still did that just because you HAVE to do a mission for Meredith no matter what side you're on. I'm with the mages, man. Y u gotta kidnap Bethany/Carver?-.- Idk about Merrill. She's sweet and I usually friendship her but I can't really see her as a love interest. She's like a ditzy child.
I like how Fenris throughout the whole game explains the nuances between slavery and the circle to Anders, but right at the end game he switches so fast lol
They were flat, and cliched stock characters. If you can sum up their personality accurately in a few words, then they aren't good characters. Fenris: Emo mage hater Merril: Naive history buff Anders: Possessed SJW emo Carver: Douche Need I go on?
First time I played the game Fenris betrayed me. He wouldn't rejoin me and I knew I'd be forced to kill him. So I went back and redid Acts 2 & 3 over again. No regrets.
I would do the same XD I just started the game and just got fenris I was wondering how do you prevent that from happening? if it's spoilers then I don't want to know. Thanks!
Rachel EatsWaffles You need to max out your friendship/rivalry with him. A good thing to remember is that if you get the "Questioning Beliefs" for him in Act 3, then he won't betray you. That goes for all characters. As long as you get that quest from them no matter what you decide to do in the final mission they won't turn on you.
Rob Woodford yup did it all. Thats why it was surprising ;/ i have maxxed out rivalry with all my characters:") tried to be a jerk in the 6th playthrough. Ill replay my last save and play with debug panel maybe it will trigger different outcome
I just finished replaying Inquisition and Tresspasser now watching this video, it would have been interesting to see Fenris and Merril interact with Solas. Especially Fenris and Solas.
I'm watching these videos, and it's sad that the only thing I notice is the fact how hot Fenris looks in his modded outfit. I love Anders's robes as well. I think I'll use those in a fan fic. Fenris looks as if he should be some type of Feudal Lord.
I played this game more than da1 and da3 despite the repetitious maps. I actually think that helped. Kinda became a speed run through every kinda build. Great game.
The game is way shorter - I was able to finish my evil playthrough in one sitting. DA O is long and has much more content while Inquisition is a pointless time waster.
I'm currently on this quest now. My Hawke is a Rogue and I chose the Mages and both Fenris and Aveline supports me since I have 100% friendship with the both of them.
I'm happy to say I've never heard those. Always max friendship with companions (except Carver, with him it's almost max friendship), don't even have to convince Fenris to join me against the mages, he just says he doesn't like it, but he's with me.
You can have all of them if they're max friend/rival. Only exception is Anders and Sebastian. Mutually exclusive, but if you don't have the DLC, hardly matters
I love the Join me option of Fenris so much! It makes sense too to appeal to Fenris from that angle and make him think from that point of view. Love his response too " I... I have changed my mind, Human! I will stand with my friend."
Can I just point out that ALL of this would have been avoided, IF Knight-Captain Cullen told Meredith to fuck off the second she had announced the Rite of Annulment. 1) The Circle had not been overrun by Blood Mages or Demons. 2) The Circle had nothing to do with Elthina's death. 3) Anders has never been part of the Kirkwall circle.
I may be misremembering, but didn't the first thing happen BECAUSE Meredith announced the Right of Annulment? A crap ton of mages turned to blood magic or demons out of fear for their lives. For the second and third points, Anders probably would have boom-boomed the Chantry as soon as there was any kind of compromise being made. He said he did it to "destroy the illusion of compromise" between mages and the Chantry. Meredith likely would have taken that as a sign that all mages within the city should be killed, even though he was disconnected from Kirkwall's circle. She wasn't exactly in her right mind at that point anyways, red lyrium and all that. Maybe I'm misunderstanding your point? Feel free to correct me.
your Hawke is gorgeous O-.O also this is so sad! my first playthrough got me 100% friendship with EVERYONE.... i've been spoiled. now i wanna play for rivalry....
+that one girl Turns out this isn't the result of rivalry. Even in rivalry they might stand with you. But for them to abandon you and turn on you you must neglect them and not have a good relationship with them...
You also have to ignore their quests as well. In my one playthrough, I had a Rivalry with Aveline, didn't help her in Act 1 nor did I do the Guardsman Donnic and her getting together quest, but I did the Act 3 quest was an extreme bitch to her, and she resigned as Captain of the Guard. And then in the final clash, she said that I was nothing to her.
I rivalmanced him in my second and he betrayed me. I did not cry; It just pissed me off. I never liked the guy much to begin with and romanced him just to see what would happen, not because I liked the character. After that, I stopped recruiting him, even though as a fighter he is a badass. (He tanked the high dragon for me, when I was on a squishy mage and I think Merrill was my other companion. So, Fenris took the brunt of it.)
I'm glad I never wound up on any of their bad sides... Aveline's bad ending hurt the most. :( No, seriously, I felt like somebody slapped me in the face and punched me in the gut with that one! None of the others had that kind of impact on me.
Man, the confrontation with fenris is so cold and badass. Two men standing for what they believe in. Both parallel in their goals yet have come to a cross roads. Nothing can stop them from fighting for what they see as Justice.
Got to love the Rouges! We never really chose a side just the people on it. See Varrick and Isabella at the Chantry Incident to see what I'm talkin about.

But, I take the same route you do, too, sometimes and will just have a blast with the game. Punching Solas and using the mod to slap Morrigan is fun. =P
So many scenes I'll probably never seen in game. I wouldn't be able to. Especially Aveline, I can't imagine ever pissing her off that much.
lines that are punches in the gut:
"I loved you, once."
"You will never understand what I want. "
"I should have known better than to let you get so close."
"You want to kill all these mages? And me along with them?" (WHO TF COULD EVER)
"You are nothing to me."
That outfit on Fenris is awesome.
For real. Where did you get it??? I feel like there were so many companion outfits that I must've missed!
@@surrealfeline probably a mod idk
"I thought freedom from slavery meant something to you" "Welp, you got me there!!" This scene will never fail to make me laugh
Guys....it's spelled Rogue. Rouge is a color! XD
***** I know right!? XD
One of these days I'm going to start keeping count of how many times I see that misspell. I think it got started in WoW honestly lol.
craycejedi I totally agree!
How about a rogue wearing rouge? That will really mess with people.
I love that.
Merrill: "Don't do this, Hawke."
Hawke: "Join me, Merrill."
Merrill: "Oh, alright then."
xD
Jesus, a year away from fenris I thought I'd have gotten over him already. I find this video, see him again and hear his voice once more, suddenly forgotten affections spring back as if it had never laid dormant.
"Fear makes men more dangerous than magic ever could." Well said Merrill, well said.
varrric is the neutral/indifferent option. He doesn't have a personal stake and represents the "neutral" view point.
Because he has only bad experiences with mages as a slave from Tevinter, it makes him biased against mages, something we see constantly throughout the game.
watchs Merill and Hawke talk. sees Anders beside a templar. HOLY SHIT!
"MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY M8S"
For some reason, I have no problem letting down everyone except for Merrill. When she turns those sad green eyes on me... :(
Pega Doodle I understand.
I'm going to protest against slavery, by... supporting slavery. Shit! Hawke, pretend that never happened! Love Fenris 😂
LOL. Smooth move there , Fenris 1:32
hoow it ends up in mine
joins mages...
Aveline: i see what you're trying to do...and i'm with you...
Fenris: i...i will join my friend
i hate the most is the bitch named Grace...who you rescue using varric's silver tongue only to betray you by kidnapping your sibling later on...and turning on you for "working with Meredith"
thoough i'd still bang Merrill [just not her DA: O self]
HulCAWmania Universe Oh my god yes I hated her so much. No matter what you did she still did that. Helped her and sided with the mages the entire playthrough? Yep, she's still going to do that. I recently played an extremely pro-mage rogue and she still did that just because you HAVE to do a mission for Meredith no matter what side you're on.
I'm with the mages, man. Y u gotta kidnap Bethany/Carver?-.-
Idk about Merrill. She's sweet and I usually friendship her but I can't really see her as a love interest. She's like a ditzy child.
usually i'd played a female hawke...and ended up with anders...goddamn him...he started the war...
I like how Fenris throughout the whole game explains the nuances between slavery and the circle to Anders, but right at the end game he switches so fast lol
Grammar Nazi sheds a tear every time someone misspells rogue.
Does that mean we should misspell it more? They are Nazis.
That's a very strange way to spell *rouge*.
After seeing this, how could anyone say the companions were boring? They seemed more thoughtfully written than some in Origins.
Like Leliana, or Alistair. As much as I like them, they were not as well written as most claim.
ya but this scene is very hidden
you´re right, the only big problem with DA2 was the lack of social interaction, just that made DA2 look like shit compared to DAO
They were flat, and cliched stock characters. If you can sum up their personality accurately in a few words, then they aren't good characters.
Fenris: Emo mage hater
Merril: Naive history buff
Anders: Possessed SJW emo
Carver: Douche
Need I go on?
Rathorage
Not in the creation of a character. Personalities are complex things.
Damn... Aveline saying "Live as you choose" hit me hard.
First time I played the game Fenris betrayed me. He wouldn't rejoin me and I knew I'd be forced to kill him. So I went back and redid Acts 2 & 3 over again.
No regrets.
same
I would do the same XD I just started the game and just got fenris I was wondering how do you prevent that from happening? if it's spoilers then I don't want to know. Thanks!
he just betrayed me after romance :( /cry
Rachel EatsWaffles You need to max out your friendship/rivalry with him. A good thing to remember is that if you get the "Questioning Beliefs" for him in Act 3, then he won't betray you. That goes for all characters. As long as you get that quest from them no matter what you decide to do in the final mission they won't turn on you.
Rob Woodford yup did it all. Thats why it was surprising ;/ i have maxxed out rivalry with all my characters:") tried to be a jerk in the 6th playthrough. Ill replay my last save and play with debug panel maybe it will trigger different outcome
*fenris makes me cry*
I just finished replaying Inquisition and Tresspasser now watching this video, it would have been interesting to see Fenris and Merril interact with Solas. Especially Fenris and Solas.
Something just different when Merrill says “we were never friends”
Oof...
Me: [Points out how the circle is like enslaving mages and slavery is wrong]
Fenris: Oh shit... you're right... Team Hawke ftw!
Great line by Merrill. And the fact I never heard this before is one reason I love these games.
This shit broke me. This shit right here. **clutches heart**
I'm watching these videos, and it's sad that the only thing I notice is the fact how hot Fenris looks in his modded outfit. I love Anders's robes as well. I think I'll use those in a fan fic. Fenris looks as if he should be some type of Feudal Lord.
Nia Bothwell honestly you're a mood 😂
I played this game more than da1 and da3 despite the repetitious maps. I actually think that helped. Kinda became a speed run through every kinda build. Great game.
The game is way shorter - I was able to finish my evil playthrough in one sitting. DA O is long and has much more content while Inquisition is a pointless time waster.
I'm currently on this quest now. My Hawke is a Rogue and I chose the Mages and both Fenris and Aveline supports me since I have 100% friendship with the both of them.
Great video, very well made. Thanks for showing us all this impressive scenes.
Aveline walking away as she did, man...
Ha Merrilm "He is my people now" God I like that Elf :P
"I have changed my mind. I stand by my friend, human."
"who the fuck are you"
Love the last one guardsmen are like uh... nope
i have changed my mind human i will stand with my friend haha lmao that was fast af
I'm happy to say I've never heard those. Always max friendship with companions (except Carver, with him it's almost max friendship), don't even have to convince Fenris to join me against the mages, he just says he doesn't like it, but he's with me.
Merill is one of my favorite characters in the series. Seing it end like this breaks my fucking heart.
This...this hurts to watch so much.
HOLY SHIT AVELINE AND HER GUARDS WALKING OFF AFTER COMPLETELY DISOWNING HAWKE
1:24 rolling a Nat 20 persuasion be like
I would never want my companions to go against me D:
You can have all of them if they're max friend/rival. Only exception is Anders and Sebastian. Mutually exclusive, but if you don't have the DLC, hardly matters
and that's why rouge's are the best, the entire party is like this
warriors: FUCK MAGIC!!
mages: FUCK THE CIRCLE!, FUCK THE INJSTICE!
rouges: popcorn?
Seeing fenris in the wrong side made me scream like "FENRIS!! WHY?!"
I... uh...
Gideon Emery nailed that line xD
5:40 does guards are the smartest guards in the whole series.
I love the Join me option of Fenris so much! It makes sense too to appeal to Fenris from that angle and make him think from that point of view.
Love his response too " I... I have changed my mind, Human! I will stand with my friend."
I havent seen these but aveline broke my heart out of all of them... I wasnt even super close to her....but damn make me feel bad
I always really liked Aveline. I wanted to romance her. So, seeing that one was like "Oh... shit..."
Merrill's broke me, too. I love Merrill.
Glad nothing like that happened in my playthrough expect fenris saying wait a second and then coming back
God I am thankful I never had these options. Horrible.
"you made it necessary"
HOW
I'm glad I never had to see tht scene with Avaline in my playthroughs. Would probably leave me in pieces.
this games choices would consume my life lol. ill just watch the vids :P
5:21 that....that hurts
your Hawke is gorgeous O-.O
also this is so sad! my first playthrough got me 100% friendship with EVERYONE.... i've been spoiled. now i wanna play for rivalry....
+that one girl Turns out this isn't the result of rivalry. Even in rivalry they might stand with you. But for them to abandon you and turn on you you must neglect them and not have a good relationship with them...
༼ つ◕ω◕ ༽つ Wise Doge
it's neither rivalry or friendship to be precise. it's the result of not maxing either of these out.
And then in the final clash, she said that I was nothing to her.
that one girl dude same. Never had any issues with Hawkes companions leaving me.
I was able to keep everyone happy and on my side luckily.
Fenris died in my second playthrough and I legit cried.
This just hurts my poor heart
Merrill and Aveline's were actually pretty sad to watch. Anders and Fenris or whatever his name is was...muh. Never really liked those two anyway.
5:00 The song that plays when Wesley dies plays here... That's friggin heartbreaking.
I'm glad I never wound up on any of their bad sides...
Aveline's bad ending hurt the most. :(
No, seriously, I felt like somebody slapped me in the face and punched me in the gut with that one!
None of the others had that kind of impact on me.
Lol. Thank you, I love this
Love how they wear dark badass characters
Don’t get me wrong, I love Fenris, but he pisses me off. Trauma doesn’t mean you get to be a Dick :)
wow, this scene with Aveline was so good. I've never seen it in all of my playthroughs
Man, the confrontation with fenris is so cold and badass. Two men standing for what they believe in. Both parallel in their goals yet have come to a cross roads. Nothing can stop them from fighting for what they see as Justice.
god I loved killing fenris. Felt like I got retribution for the recent final fantasy installments!
How so? edgyness?
Strangely enough, Aveline's confrontation made me a bit sad. When she says that Hawke is nothing to her and just walks away.
I'm always friends with Aveline. I couldn't let that scene happen! 😩😂
Got to love the Rouges! We never really chose a side just the people on it. See Varrick and Isabella at the Chantry Incident to see what I'm talkin about.
wtf.... I have completed (with all side quests, hidden quests, etc.) the game many times, but I've never seen any of these dialogs :D
Tsk. I was hoping for cut scenes where Hawke stabs every one of them.
Am I the only one who's here to discover what Mods were used? So much work goes into these videos. Thank you DanaDuchy.
i love merril so much out of all the people in dragon age. A perfectly flawed character. best back story. And its a DAM shame that its not in more detail.
Tbh.. Varric, Merill, and Fenris we're the best companions out of this game..... I would love for them to come back and literally get more screen time even if they aren't companions in the next game. (Convinced Varric may be)
Damn Fenris´s Voice Actor. i would recognize this voice anywhere. Balthier from FF12!
