      Agreed but then if you save ypur home town as much as Hawke and Varric did together it's bound to build comraderie.after all it was ripped apart first by the Qunari and then by the conflict between the Mages and Templars. The 2 of them had to battle all the way through that. In fact this was how I approached the situation too as the inquisitor. It wasn't Varric's fault he was just protecting Hawke as they were friends. Hawke helped Varric out in a number of situations like with his brother and the red lyrium. Varric helped Hawke when he came to Kirkwall at the start of the DA2 story as well and all that so they were always there for each other like a true friend should be.

      i saw it more as a Debt that couldnt be repayed i mean if you look at the whole of Hawke's life Varric litteraly Blames himself First was Bartrend locking them in the deeproads and next and this is what REALLY hit varric is Hawke's Mother now remeber BEFORE she was re Raised she was "unseen" and invisable But once she became a noble lady again that Killer/insane necromancer found her and that was the 2nd blow Varric took 3rd and lastly was blonde depending on WHO you have left ((bethany or Carver)) Anders littleraly PUTS them into danger ((if they are not greywarden)) anders who knows your sister is a mage or brother is a templar just littleraly put them in harms way and Hawke has fought tooth nail and soul to keep them safe HELL everyone of her companions has Varric buys off Templars to ease off Bethany and provider her with some "comfert" Averline keeps tabs on Carver and so on down the Line for them to be put in danger after 3 attempts to repay hawke for funding 1 simple investment into the deeproads its a Debt Varric could only Repay by keeping the Seeker and the chantry Away from her ...hell i'm willing to be if Cassandra had been not as composed and just as she is ..she would have killed him and varric ..would have let her because he was protecting and repaying that Debt

      It's very possible they intended to do a different game with different situations then what we got in Inquisition when Dragon Age 2. From what I think Dragon Age 2 wasn't that well received so they let the fandom cool down. I imagine they wanted to do a story in a 3 that would have connected both the Hero and Champion in the story that had been imprisoned by a force stronger then both of them. If we look at the ending of the Legacy DLC it is hinted that Larius spoke and acted differently. I think Corepheus had taken over his body(Which I even think is mentioned in Inquisition). Sadly we may never see the Hero in any of the games outside messages or mentions.
      I think they honestly need to let us play as the Hero or the "Warden-Commander" from Awakening depending of if you want a Fereldin Warden or Orlesian. It would be a way to show them rebuilding the order of Wardens after what they did in Inquisition.

      By that point Hawke was largely all the family he had, he was always distant from his other family, one way or other lost Bartrand forever. Hawke was closest he had to brother/sister, a family.
      I believe Varric is right, if Hawke was at Conclave, it would probably end badly for him/her.

    I've discovered that if Cassandra's approval is high enough prior her cutscene with Varric, she reacts differently to his deception. She still tries to punch him at first, but she's more forgiving. Though it's pretty hard to get her approval that high by this point (probably easier if you side with the templars).

    • @TheGeoCheese
      @TheGeoCheese 2 года назад +18

It’s a bit more effort but also the what you stand for speech matters just a bit more. Standing for order wins you some approval from her as well.
      I did manage while allying with the mages and gotten close to max approval with all my companions. Cassandra is remarkably easy. Also before talking to Hawke for the first time start on her personal quests. Major approval points while she’s in the party when doing those.
      Also the very beginning gives a lot of early approval for her. Just be willing to help out. If not a mage then disarm when she demands it. If mage you can point the obvious to her with the mage dialogue for small gains.

Since Hawke is a fully customizable character it, of course, depends on the character, but mine was a fierce mage freedom supporter, though he was less vocal about it unless he got pushed. During the conclave, he would've lost his shit and as the inquisitor, he would've made so many people angry XD

    • @gzapray7203
      @gzapray7203 Год назад

      Nah. Not really, especially at Cassandra's point. She didn't convey well her real intention of why she interrogated Varric. Judging by her antagonistic approach back at DAII, it's natural for Varric to assume for the worst that they would going to arrest Hawke. Regardless of Hawke's stance in the Kirkwall crisis, they're on hot water with the Chantry. It didn't help that Cassandra's approach to the war is quite short-sighted. I'm sorry, but I'm going to side with Varric in this one. Cassandra can't bully her way to get what she wants no matter how well-intentioned she is.

    To be honest, if my Hawkes and Cassandra meet, I don't think it will end well for the latter. Also, I don't really think Cassandra understood Hawke's actions at all despite Varric telling her the account of what truly happened. I don't think a Hawke who sided with the mages and supported Anders' bombing of the Chantry in response to Meredith illegally invoking the Annulment would ever accept becoming the Inquisitor. And if Cassandra will do her usual schtick, then she better prepare to get sucked on a fireball or get stabbed in the back, as in case to my Hawkes.

    I really don't see why was Hawke "desperately needed" for all of Thedas. What did he do? WHat made him the obvious pick for the Inquisitor? He didn't even start the Mage Rebellion, he was just a small part of it. Anders started it, regardless of Hawke's choices. And Hawke was a champion of a city, but I'm sure other cities had champions of their own. And there are like a bunch of cities beside Kirkwall. And it is not even about Corypheus, as Cassandra says Hawke was needed even before the Breach happened. What made him so relevant before the events of Inquisition?

    • @phuturephunk
      @phuturephunk 8 лет назад +1

      +Bindair Dundat He was basically the hero of the second story in the
      series. She sincerely believed that he would have been a better, battle
      hardened leader to have at the head of the Inquisition...a better
      "chosen one"; so to speak due to already going through the whole "OH GOD
      THE WORLD IS GONNA END GOTTA SAVE IT!" whole thing previously. And
      plus...at least in my game...I'm a Qunari that was palling around as a
      naer-do-well with Varric before the whole place blew up..so it figures
      Miss Seeker wouldn't exactly think I was fit for the job.

      ben reeves Well, both of them are important, really. One saves Ferelden (and the rest of Thedas) from the Darkspawn by killing the Archdemon. The other basically has a 'rags to riches' story in that they save their city from the Qunari, and were a key figure in the Mage/Templar War. Plus, I think Hawke touched a lot more people's lives than the Warden.

    • @benreeves5305
      @benreeves5305 9 лет назад

      Yami Long one save a small town and barely only few thousand people live in it (even if templar and mage started war in kirtwall doesn do much damage between orlais and ferelden just an one city get corrupted)one save the whole kingdom and possibly saved all the world how could a small hawke comapre to big hero of ferelden

    • @Kunnaki
      @Kunnaki 9 лет назад +7

      But there are mages and Templars all over Thedas, even in Orlais. When the Circle in Kirkwall rebelled, the rest of the Circles followed suit. At the center of it all was the Champion, a.k.a. Hawke.
      The Warden was only doing what Wardens are supposed to: stopping the Blight. Hawke did what he/she felt was right. And even though Kirkwall is small, you can't deny that a lot of the events that happened there rocked the rest of Thedas.

    • @benreeves5305
      @benreeves5305 9 лет назад

      Yami Long if circle was that strong to started a rebelion war why would their life controlled by templar they should started it long ago but in the end they are all controlled by Corypheus

    • @varric

      Tecnically, Hawke don't start anything. Is Anders and his stupid bomb, the Meredith's disproportionate response (bring the Right of Annulment to an entire Circle for the crimes of an apostate) and the Lord Seeker Lamberts's actions in Asunder is the true reasson for the very start of the Mage/Templar War.
