Hey Josh fantastic video as always! I’d be very interested in seeing a video comparing fuel economy between the 0.5 and stage 2. I’m getting close to pulling the trigger on a delete kit for improved reliability and fuel economy, so I’d be curious to see the difference. Also, what’s your take on the dynamic idle? Does it make that much of a difference? Thanks!
Im curious as well, I’m figuring if you don’t use that extra power and drive nicely it’ll be similar but we’ll see. As far as dynamic idle, for warm up it definitely won’t hurt but I’m not sure how much of a difference. I do find it makes the dsg touchy until it s warmed up as rpm’s don’t drop once your in gear.
Can I go with a stage 2 tune before I delete the dpf then add the dpf delete feature to the same tune in the future? Or would i have to buy it again to modify the tune?
Hello Josh. Quick question. All stock TDI 2013 golf manual. You recommend stage .5 or 1? Clutch still the original but no problems with it. I mostly do city driving , i find it too slow to get up to speed in 1st and 2nd. Thank you for helping the new owners with you videos. .
Do you like the stage 2 as far as improving city driving? Would love to just get a little more torque in the lower gears so I can take off from red lights quicker.
Yup, they even have up to stage 4 emissions intact. It’ll probably decrease def usage, as far as compromising emissions components you should be fine. The Passats don’t seem to have the dpf issues that the cjaa do.
Thank you, guys, for all your information. I really appreciate it. I didn't think i'd be able to do a stage 2 or better. Is there anything I could do to limit the emissions that would not be seen or detected that could help with the performance?
Rawtek doesn’t deliver where I am from, had to go with the flowdirekt. Chose them because that was your second option after rawtek. But I do have a question, I have a 13’ Passat tdi DSG. Should I do .5 or stage 2 with Malone tuning ? Keep in mind, I drive in the city very often. Please let me know.
Dynamic EGR aka Pre-Dieselgate 😂 For the record I driven Stage 0.5, 1, and 2 for about 2 weeks each and you can get the same FE between 1 and 2 depending on the driving habits. But the Stage 2 gives a little more go and smiles. If the turbo ever goes out, upgrade to a bigger one and Stage 3 would make it a blast to drive 😁
I kind of figured the fuel wouldn’t differ much if you drive sensible. You sure get the itch to go bigger once your playing with it, it got a used turbo when I bought it so well see how long it lasts.
I wouldn’t say that, just a different option. I’m curious on the comparison between the main 2 “delete” tuning companies. I originally wanted to try lining another local car up that had a Malone tune on it to compare but tunezilla made it possible to compare on the same vehicle.
Yes, 2 reasons I’d advise against it is 1) it’ll need cut up because of the inlet and outlet angles, 2) the dpf and cat are worth $500 usd to recycle so that’s a fair chunk towards a shiny new downpipe.
Dumb question: I removed my DPF (Rawtek Eco) today but haven't run my tune as my pipe has not arrived. Do I need the DPF/EGR/Swirl tune, and the EGR delete? Stage 0.5, by the way. Thanks!
@@JoshsJettasthis will be my first time tuning any vehicle. I'm assuming it's to preserve the transmission? Curious how the Malone tune can run without a DSG tune. I appreciate the information!
@@dshevchuk97 the car had a stage 2 MR Tuning from Quebec without dsg tuning, tunezilla which is formerly known as Malone from British Columbia requires a dsg tune past 0.5. I’m not sure if MR Tuning uses some trickery or limits torque to save needing the dsg tune but tunezilla/Malone said with the added torque on the stage 1 and 2 it’s required.
Do not buy this crap i bought and i pay $745 and i still have to buy the tune separe... so what the point of buying this divice fir such a high price .... so thwey got me ... buy some other brand not this rip off shit
Thank you for the coupon code!!! Just ordered stage 2 with CP3 for my CJAA.
Awesome hope you enjoy it, mild tune on these cars make them feel like they should’ve came from the factory that way.
I have stage 3 tune with hybrid cr170 turbo. It's nothing like it was stock lol. Saving for new clutch now so I can really test it out.
I would of liked to go larger turbo on this one, I just got a used one so cheap I couldn’t justify not using it.

Can I go with a stage 2 tune before I delete the dpf then add the dpf delete feature to the same tune in the future? Or would i have to buy it again to modify the tune?
Fairly certain it’ll be a free upgrade. At worst it would be a $99 upgrade.

Clutch still the original but no problems with it.

I like the highest “stage” for whatever hardware you have, so a stage 1 in that case. It should help liven it up some
I did a Kerma Tune on the 2.0 TDI Passat as well as their tune on the DSG. I felt it was worth the money
Do you like the stage 2 as far as improving city driving? Would love to just get a little more torque in the lower gears so I can take off from red lights quicker.
Yeah I just keep it stage 2, you don’t need to use the power all the time but it’s nice when you want it
Hey Josh, If I do a stage 2 tune to my 2014 Passat TDI, can I keep all my emissions stuff on? If so, will it compromise the emissions components?
Yes. From the TuneZilla catalog, just don't select the "REMOVE DPF, ADBLUE, EGR, AND/OR INTAKE SWIRL FLAP" option. You still must tune the DSG though.

Is an intake worth doing on the TDI, and if so, which one? I was looking at the APR intake.
I have a 2014 passat and I've heard intakes aren't worth it. Stock is your best bet. @@apespacecowboy6993

The 2 is going to require dsg tuning, but the extra power is nice
Why was the DPF light on?
The flashing glow plug light? Failed egt sensor pre-turbo
@@JoshsJettas oh yes! Sorry I remember my DPF failing and that’s the light I had. But the tune should take care of that light right?
Depends on the tune, MR Tuning ignores the egt sensor, whereas Tunezilla uses it as a fail safe to cut fueling if temps get too hot.
If you install the egr block plate would you need to disable the egr by unplugging and need the egr light suppressor?
It can stay plugged in with/without the blocker but yes you’ll need the tune
@@JoshsJettas alrighty that answers my question.

Yes click the stage 0.5, then check the dpf/egr/swirl delete and the egr delete and you should be set
@JoshsJettas do they let add that for free?
Yes it’s free with a tune. They have other add-ons that would be an extra $99
Hey quick question. Am i able to get the stage 2 tune without the dsg tune?
Tunezilla doesn’t recommend anything past the 0.5 without a dsg tune. The MR Tuning stage 2 was on the car prior for about 6k without dsg tuning.
