CJAA TDI swirl flap delete - The OEM way using 03L129711AR

- Today we're deleting the swirl flaps on the CJAA, this is a "permanent" P2015 fix. Using an OEM CKRA NMS Passat intake # 03L129711AR (or part of it) which comes without the swirl flaps.
Your going to need to be tuned to remove these as the swirl flap actuator will throw a code without.

Great information, Thanks Josh, The CKRA manifold without the Swirl flaps is a perfect fit. I was able to find a new 03L129711AR manifold for $145.00 US delivered. thanks again.
Awesome can’t be that price, where’d you get it from?
@@JoshsJettas I purchased it wholesale vw parts out of Denver, I want to thank you for all your videos cuz I've been a great help to me I went through the same dilemma on my 2011 sport wagon when the DPF failed took me about 3 months to round all the parts up and get the tuning set up and everything else but everything seems to be working good now
@kennethrose3804 cant beat that price, and no problem glad it’s working better now.
Love the cjaa videos, keep em coming
I believe that most tunes turn of the flaps. I was still thinking about deleting them, this will be a great option.
Im assuming any “off-road” tune will have them shut off, emissions intact tune will be a different story.
The video I was waiting for!
Great info... good video
A note of caution about using the ultrasonic cleaners. Do not reach into the solution with the unit turned on. If you use it often, you may find that your fingers may start aching. The ache is caused by many micro fractures in the bones. Many jewelers found this out because they were cleaning a lot of jewelry. Use tongs, attach a couple wires or zip ties to the part, or simply turn the unit off if you have to work in the solution.
I hadn’t thought of that but it makes sense, I used pliers and didn’t think otherwise especially once it was up to 80C.
My Audi's got the CBEA motor that also has these flaps, delete was fairly easy
Haven't bothered to do this yet on my 2009. But strongly considering it however don't have VCDS to prime the fuel pumps. Last time Had to replace copper washers on injectors, was a major pain in the rear to get engine fired up from the high pressure pump.
As long as you don’t touch the low side lines it should start up not to bad. I’m doing a video this week on a cheaper vcds alternative.
Awesome video...I purchased delete inserts from tafmet for the cjaa and they're made of the same material as the plastic base. My question is...what torque specs did you use to bolt the plastic base back to the manifold? Thank you
I couldn’t find a specific torque as I don’t believe it’s technically “service-able”. I just went by feel
@@JoshsJettas where did you get the ckra plate. Was it wolfautoparts
I'm in Canada if that helps
@vmars1320 yes it was wolf auto on eBay, I tried buying from local part outs but everyone wanted more then a new manifold
@@JoshsJettas thanks just got one for 100$
I was able to use the extended ball end triple square socket and didnt have to remove the rail. Tight fit, but saved a lot of time. Now if i can just figure out my P2017 code...
Hey... I'm having the same issue even after a tune update. The cel comes and goes. I do have a bracket installed. I'm stumped aswell.
Is this custom tune to delete that option the P2015 ? Or where would one find that? Not sure if this was mentioned .Looking to remove swirl flaps on CJAA thanks Josh!!!
They are usually shut off with dpf/egr delete tunes, I know tunezilla is.
@@JoshsJettas thank you sir , with the HEX-V2 enthusiast , can you prime the fuel system like you did the video ?
@@kevinformuziewich8108 yes, there should be a basic settings to run both, or output tests if you want to run individually. It might use up one of your vins though I’m not sure
What happens if you run the CKRA part without a tune and off road delete. Will it throw an error or decrease power?
I would think p2015 will pop up preventing regens. If you possibly use the top cjaa and keep the actuator installed with the p2015 fix kit you might get away with it?
Where did you purchase your mk4 rockers?
Nor-am auto body, Raybuck and mill supply also sell them.
I've got a 2011 Audi A3 TDI with the CBEA, are the parts the same for me?
Yes the intakes the same on the cbea vs cjaa
Just swapped this on during a timing belt and a cp3 swap. Getting a p2017 code and it goes into limp mode during hard acceleration. Any ideas? Allegedly the tune has the swirl flaps deleted.
The actuator is unplugged and nothing inside the empty plug is shorting out?
@@JoshsJettas correct. I'm kind of stumped as to why it would trigger that code.
Fixed! It was a tune issue. Thanks for the video and the idea to get the new manifold! Also used your service position video too!
Awesome glad the videos help
Thank you josh for this valuable info, I replaced the intake manifold bottom in my a4 b8 caga with the part you mentioned it fits perfectly, I have a question which engine oil specs do you use after DPF EGR delete? 🫡
Right or wrong I just use the same 5w40 that I use in my V10 tdi, pd and ve. Whatever’s on sale in a pail at the local Canadian tire.
@@JoshsJettas thx I will stick with oem specs
