Where was the twiggy lash? Or the 50’s style pin up look with a white lid and tab crease with red lips? Where was the 2000’s hip hop neon color or the early 2000 hip hop light makeup with POPPIN lipgloss? So many things could have been added to this that would make it diverse in culture but I guess this was still cool
2000 hip hop neon color, I can assure you that it wasn’t a thing. Nobody where I live wore that. Fake eyelashes were more a thing back then and still now today
They missed out on a lot.. also that look wasn't punk. It was goth which came around in the 80s. It was derived from punk, but not the same. Punk would've been more bold and inspired by Siouxsie. The whole idea was to rebel and go against the normal while also living for the thriving music scene.
All of these 80s looks only represent a subculture that emerged around that time. A lot of it looks like the kind of makeup I wear now, which I admit, was influenced by the 80s goth look but my mom, aunt, and pretty much everyone I knew who grew up around that period didn't wear their makeup that way. When I think of the 80s, I'm reminded of big hair, frosted lipstick, and off the shoulder sweaters.
Enchanty it was bordering on goth, but not fully there. Definitely not punk. Siouxsie was (and is) goth, but her bolder early looks would have fit more in the punk scene than this. They obviously didn’t do any research at all and had crappy artists. Also didn’t even bother to mention goth, which was all over the 80s (and 90s) and influenced many looks. SUCH a fail of a video.
You're right! My mom used to be goth in late 80s and early 90s. I still have pictures of her with Metalheads (including my dad lol) and punks. Her punk friends looked different from my mom's gothic style. Punk style always seem to be more bold than gothic style. Also, punk outfits aren't always black. They can be colored or something unlike gothic style.
Maybe it's because it's been done so many times in similar videos? 60's spanned 10 years, so there are so many looks that came in and out of fashion within that time.
Twiggy's makeup was so iconic, with that downturned eyeliner and drawn on lower lashes and the unblended crease line, I love that makeup, my favourite iconic makeup of all times. I'm so disappointed with this video's lack of that look.
I was a bit annoyed that the mod eye from the 60' wasn't featured, considering that that was THE look other than the ones they showed. I love the girls tho, they're so cute!
instagram look w no cut crease, highlight/contour, and concealer shaped brows???? you'd think that the most recent look would be the best recreation lol
ummm where did you get the idea that in the 50s women were wearing purple mascara? Also the cat eye wasn't really used in the 50s, the trick was they get false eyelashes, cut them and put one half or so on the side of their eye to give a cateye effect and they had on eyeliner just not with a wing. it was the late 50's early 60s that women started to do the cateye using eye liner.
I love Allure but I don't think some of the the looks are accurate as all. The 70s should have had that blue shadow (no crease color), the 60's the Twiggy lashes for the mod look, the purple was good for the 80s but again there was not so much with the crease colors you just did a big wing shape. And the 20's brows were awful.
I'd say the looks that were portrayed were accurate, but there were a few missed opportunities. For example, the Biba look was more an early 70s trend than the 60s. Plus, the grunge makeup was totally off, the 90s wasn't as obsessed with holo as people nowadays try to make out.
Micaela J i mean there’s the ‘iconic looks’ and then the looks women actually wore every day but i get what you mean i would have liked some more starlit looks😂
Yup, you’re right about that..!! I grew up with lots of makeup, and I am an 80’s into the 90’s product ; ( I’m now 45 ) but I remember a lot of what was popular at the time . I saw the 80’s and 90’s makeup and I kept thinking, this isn’t right.
@@makeupboss9812 Yeah, me too!! I graduated high school in '78, and I remember what was in, as well, and I don't remember a lot of this stuff!! Although, I do remember my Mom saying the same thing about the 50's when "Happy Days" came on the scene...😌✝️⚜️
flatfoot floogie60 at least I am not completely crazy in my thinking. It’s not hard to forget stuff like that , heck I still remember what makeup I wore for my Senior Picture. It was turquoise eyeshadow and dark brown eyeliner.
Okay I have no clue where you guys came up with the 1920s drooping brow look, but that’s totally not true. The 1920s and 1930s shared the arched, super thin and high eyebrow, which was later made most popular by Marlene Dietrich after her film “The Devil is a Woman”. This droopy, sloppy charcoal-y looking thing you’ve got here is completely made up. I’ve never once seen eyebrows like that anywhere for that decade, or any decade before or after it. Y’all ain’t even tryin’ to be accurate! Come on!
The makeup artist and stylist did SUCH a bad job!! Worst one was the 1940's. The most GLAMOROUS area, and you made her look like a plain jane. And that lipstick is NOT red! It looks NOTHING like the '40s lips. And who in the 40's wore ugly, fuzzy yellow hats?? FAIL
I am overwhelmed with how gorgeous all of these people are. They have such aesthetically pleasing facial features. Who knew noses could look that pretty?
Sorry but it is dead accurate. Makeup wasn't intense and perfect on anyone back in the day. What we see in movies are just others' perspectives of what 30/40/50s makeup looked like. Not actually what it looked like. They chose not to use foundation on the girls for this video and maybe that's why some ppl think some of the looks aren't accurate.
Xara Stewart I'm sorry, but I find it funny how u think this, when they got this styles thru statistics, and this video can't feature EVERY style from that time period
@Skywick1 Nothing like emo eyeliner. There should be no wing, it would be slightly smudged, there wouldn't be a line going down from the middle, possibly red eyeshadow around it, no black lipstick whatsoever, no nose ring, but a lip ring instead.
The woman at 2:17 is absolutely fierce and stunning! She just seems so confident!!! The woman at 3:30’s eyes are gorgeous. Going to do my make up today! Feeling inspired!
Yes of course only in the 2000s lashes where in and Twiggys lashes where of course real, also Sophia Lorens or even Audrey Hepburns XD The Ice look was very popular in the 90's. Not in the 2000's.
@@emmareynolds5191 Yeah, really!! But then, when I was in high school and college, eyeshadow was extremely important to me, too!! Oh well, time marches on!!😏✝️⚜️

lol everyone is saying you're immature for the comment. you used the comment section for its intended purpose and gave a criticism. people can get off their moral high horses.
1960s totally missed the mark Should've at least mentioned how they wanted to emphasize the eyelashes as much as possible, especially on the bottom eyes. It was normal to paint on bottom lashes
i love these so much everyone looks amazingly stunning perfect for variety for drawing references >w< i hope there will be more interesting contents in the future
Why would anyone mention it. A lot of west Asians wear it..... I mean they wear it at weddings but.... By literally every Indian woman on her wedding day
It's not an "Instagram" look if there is no extreme contouring/highlighting. I didn't see any shinning cheekbone. Nope. Definitely not Instagram.
ttuanmu its eye looks ;-;
That's for 10 I think, if they make a 20 version there will be highlights
Right and she didnt have instagram eyebrows
Well the main focus is eye looks... not necessarily the whole face
Exactly!!
2000' s had glossy lips and THIN eyebrows
Dzevad Imamovic yes. And my eyebrows still suffer the thinned eyebrow. I think they really missed the mark on thus whole video.
Um emo and alt stuff was super popular too. Idk how they skipped that.
As a makeup fan and a bit of a historian, I can't say I'm impressed with this video. Please do more research next time, this was a miss.
Yes, so much inaccuracies!
Yeah I always feel in these videos there not really looking up the truth like come on...
Same here
Historical accuracy and makeup application were both missing here!!
I was hoping to find a comment like this....

Yeah the first 90s look was not at all what the 90s eyes looked like.
Goth, which was all over the 80s and even 90s, which influenced many other looks, was completely left out.

Yesssss
Yeah, they forgot it in multiple videos
no,, not the scene,,,, the flashbacks,,,,,,
WHERES THE ICONIC TWIGGY LASHES?? HOW COULD YOU MISS THAT???

I thought the same. Biba was more early 70s than 60s too.
Hmm I don’t recall anyone wearing eyeliner in the 2000s... that decade was all about glittery eyeshadows an unhealthy amount of lip gloss.
Lillian Sanders but emos.
Lillian Sanders no, that was the 90s

Emos
Can we talk about how the makeup artists used in this video are totally incompetent. I don't think it's that hard to find someone to apply eye liner
