The Supermarine Spitfire is THE defining aircraft of WW2, the Mk2a was one of the early versions that defined this incredible airplane. During the darkest days of the war, the Spitfire, more than any other aircraft then or since, along with the pilots that flew it, came to symbolize the struggle and triumph of a nation over adversity. This struggle was the "Battle of Britain", those pilots were "The Few" and the triumph was the Spitfire!

Durafly’s Mk2a Spitfire P7308 represents a Spitfire that was flown by Squadron No 71 which was one of the Eagle Squadrons that were formed in the early days of WWII. These fighter squadrons were formed using volunteer pilots from the United States prior to America's entry into the war in December 1941. The attention to detail in this PNF model is matched only by its superb performance and grace in the air. The Mk2a is designed purely for a 4S set-up unlike previous marques, and it boasts a wealth of features you have come to expect from Durafly. These features include an airframe molded in tough EPO foam, factory-installed motor, ESC, servos, and retractable landing gear. It also has faithfully reproduced split flaps, scale outline, fine surface detail, LED lighting system, and authentic scale decals.
The 4S setup enables the Mk2a to perform a full "Airshow" routine including big loops, low banked passes, Split-S', and all the maneuvers expected of a WW2 warbird including of course the iconic Spitfire “Victory Roll”. Thanks to its superb handling and well-balanced flight characteristics it will instill confidence in those who fly it. Like the full-size aircraft, the Durafly Spitfire Mk2a is a joy to fly.
The Durafly Spitfire Mk2a will appeal to both British and American model airplane pilots alike for its tribute to a Spitfire flown by one of the extraordinary Eagle Squadrons that were formed using eager, young Americans, who simply wanted to help make a difference in the war in Europe.
Buy yours now and enjoy the delights and graceful lines whilst flying the most iconic warbird from WWII.
Features:
• Plug and Fly with scale electric retracts and LED lighting system (just add battery and receiver)
• Tough EPO construction
• Wide flight envelope with stable and scale flight performance
• 4S setup for more power and longer flights
• Highly detailed scale finish
• Authentic "Eagle Squadron" color scheme
• Functioning scale split flaps

Can't wait for Durafly 1100mm Hawker Hurricane (Mk1) with 303 Squadron markings
I'm glad you don't forget the Spitfire. I really love the early Spitfire models, good job, thanks!
Beautiful!!! There seems to be a lot of interest in British military airplanes these days. :) Thanks a lot, Durafly
Great video Stuart. The bird looks so sexi and the sound is awesome. Cant wait to fly it. Big salute to all RC lovers here, Pilot Robert Slovenia.
Our favorite European reviewers ;) Everyone please be sure to check out their unboxing, Stuart: ruclips.net/video/_pr6F769h5I/видео.html
It appears that Durafly HobbyKing really put the Hammer down on this Spitfire!!
Great looks, decent size, lots of power makes a nice combo. Thumbs up! AirHammer out!!
Yes indeed!
The Battle of Britain intro for the MK 1 was epic! I have to get this one as well, Just because it is a Spitfire!
Beautiful! And so iconic of WW II European theater.
Who doesn’t love a Spitfire!! And Durafly nailed it, great job guys👊🏼🤣
Thanks Jeff, always love your support ;)
That’s a stunning Spitfire.
Thanks for the Support!
@@HobbyKingOfficial
I just wish I was able to fly one.
Looks lovely!
Hoping for Durafly to make a FW-190A or a P-47 Razorback.
I need something with wider landing gears at my field.
GREAT looking plane!!
I think so too!
Great little plane love my V1 ,
It sure is!
Wonderful to see the return of the Durafly Spitfire. I have several of the original and love them. Only problem now is I want a Gladiator and one of these but can't have both!! Well not yet!! :-) Looking forward to this thanks Stuart and Tom
You and me both!
Thanks for another BoB Spit, Stuart. Love them!!
Glad you like them!
Good job with these vids. Looks great!
Thank you very much!
Well done Stuart! The model is exquisite and your presentation and flying match that. Such an iconic machine. Glad you did a new version...now we just need a Mk1 or 2 Avios...
Thanks Adam, yes I wonder what people here would think of a 1450mm Mk1a?
@@HobbyKingOfficial I would buy it in a heartbeat.
i would love one of those beautiful model
They are available at HobbyKing.com!
Sweeet!
i love durafly spitfire plane.
Beauty!
Love it! 🙂
Glad you like it!
I still have my MkV. I love it. I made carbon oleos for the gear - the stock gear is its only weakness I think. Great flier and great scale outline. I quite often just mooch around on half throttle just enjoying the outline in the air. I can get 14 mins airtime going gently like that, landing a little above 20%. I think this would be the best model to fly from the speedboat Stuart - if you had somewhere to take off and land :)
Sounds like a fun challenge!
Been waiting a very long time for this one, pity it costs more than the airplane itself to ship it to me currently
For AUS customers head office are looking into this as a matter of priority. For UK customers you can now order and you should see a shipping discount too in checkout, something they are testing for the UK market.
@@stuartwarnerc tHATS a super response, I hope it helps South African customers, I have bought a hek of a lot from you and for a time not long ago (around the launch of the C130 V2) shipping via UK was extremely reasonable, I would love to resume HK shopping again as it used to be my default hobby supplier- congrats on a true beauty
@@stuartwarnerc hi Stewart... I added to cart and showing £65....is that correct?
@@scottwells7797 Hi sorry I'm not sure to what you are referring. Do you mean shipping from HK WH to UK address is showing as 65GBP? If so yes that seems correct as that's much cheaper than before.
"No offense to our German viewers there" Such a British thing to say :-) Love it...
Great vid stu I still own my eflight spitfire it’s all up and running after a complete servo change out ready for a flight but ill health has kept me grounded for quite a while but waiting for a good day to buzz the neighbours with mine, we did have a real display of one at weekend as where I live near highclere castle they have battle of proms and always have spitfire , was brilliant, Gaza 🇬🇧
Great job Stu . Love this plane. I just ordered one . 😁
Thank you very much.
Hi Philip... How much was shipping for u.... I live in UK and its £65... Made it way to expensive for me sadly....
@@scottwells7797 Hi Scott . It was $55 Canadian for the shipping from the US to me . Not to crazy , but not cheap either
Sorry that it made the plane too expensive for you . I get it . Shipping rates have been crazy this year . I got 3 planes and some parts and several batteries from HK in the fall last year and it was 0nly $60 shipping for all of it .
One of their bigger planes is $115 for shipping now . And same thing . It stops me from buying the plane .
Cheers my friend
you can not have too many Spitfires , Some nice touches on this one, looks good. Ideal for people who only have 4s models also.
Also, we have improved shipping methods from HK to the UK so you can get it in the UK. Thanks for your support and patience!
What a beauty
Thank you so much!
Awesome! If you are bringing back durably warbirds bring back the p-40n!
That's the plan!
It's Stuart and a Spitfire... bought 😁
LOL, there's an extra hidden layer too. See if you can find my sons name in the model once you get it ;)
Spoiler alert
Maybe in the future we could see a Huricane MkIIC in the same 1.1m size with equivalent scale detail?
If only there was still a Australian warehouse. I just checked the shipping and it is almost the same cost as the model from Hong Kong.
loolks very nice :)
Thank you! Cheers!
That’s a nice Spitfire. I’d buy one but shipping to Australia just kills purchasing from Hobbyking these days.
That point is being worked on as a priority currently. We hope to bring you some good news soon on this.
@@HobbyKingOfficial
Here’s hoping guy’s 🤞
I just looked, shipping is basically the same cost as the plane again.
@@stephenjohns4297
Surprise Surprise! 😳
EMS seems to be quite competitive from China to Australia. Most of us would probably accept a delay if the pricing was reasonable. I hope you achieve a solution as there’s a couple you’ve released lately that I would have gladly purchased : Gloster Gladiator for instance, but the shipping equaled the purchase price. Thanks for the reply.
Would have wet my pants for a Hurricanne.
This would pair nicely with the Hurricane I have. 🙂
Awesome airplane!! I still habe a question of you are looking to Make the Head tracking again would be really cool especeially on this Spitfire
Great suggestion!
Just received mine, where do you recommend placing the receiver? Thanks in advance 😃👍🏻
When is this going to be restocked?
Thanx for all the great videos Stuart.
What are your thoughts on the Standard Remote ID that the FAA want to enforce on our hobby in 6 weeks time.
Some feel that it will be the end of BNF & PNP models and will basically destroy our hobby.
The only problem I have with this release, is that it didn't happen sooner. With recent purchases, I'm going to have to wait for a while to get one of these!
At 10:18 "...a bit of flap" - the Spitfire had all or nothing flaps, 90 degrees, take it or leave it 🙂
Hi Stewart... I really want to purchase this aircraft... Any news on a more reasonable shipping cost to the UK. My friend ended up paying £280 total for the Gladiator.
Can you hand launch this as we don't have plush short grassy land
I just thought of a question...
if the grass happens to be too long, is it possible to hand launch it and belly land it (kinda like your Lancaster Bomber)?
thanks
Absolutely. Being a low wing model you'll just want to launch as shown in our recent video below. But yes the Mk2a on 4S has more than enough power for this: ruclips.net/video/4O1lwkrUShM/видео.html
@@HobbyKingOfficial thank you for explaining!
For belly landings, would it be better to not glue in the air intake and torpedo tube? Or would those accessories actually help to keep the propeller from breaking?
@@pea2911 If you intend to belly land too then suggest you keep those parts off. But you have the gear, so might as well try it for landings.
@@HobbyKingOfficial thanks again for explaining, i just wanted options (if the grass is too long for it to taxi, on that day, then hand launch and belly landing would be my only option, on that day)
Anyone know of an optional prop that can be used with this? Hk is out of stock in US
You can still order from the EU or HK warehouse if you are from the US albeit at a higher shipping rate
@@HobbyKingOfficial $38 shipping for a $7 prop lol
@@HobbyKingOfficial Hello, Stuart. The propeller broke during the flight test. The prop has a unique shape at 11.25x7 size, but it's consistently out of stock in the store. Would it be okay to use a regular GenFan 1170 prop?
Do you know What are the paintings used for that paint scheme ?That would be a useful hint Very Nice model indeed
Tamiya paints would be your closest match.
@Hobbyking. Where in the Netherlands is this? I'm so curious😁
South Holland
@@HobbyKingOfficial I'd love to come by one day, if that is possible :-) i live and fly close to " de kagerplassen"
@@drbernhard438 lol you are less than 20mins from the club. Search for HLC and you'll find it.
@@HobbyKingOfficial hehe i live 7 minutes from there. ruclips.net/video/sZeDULJreKA/видео.html
Usually i fly here. This video is from my fpv channel 😁 i would love to come by, are there specific day's you are overthere?
Please sort out the shipping to UK
Hello, Hans, just for UK customers we are testing a shipping discount from the Hong Kong warehouse on shipping to the UK. Please go through the checkout process and see for yourself. Thanks
Yes its Duck Egg Blue - My Order has been placed thanks to the reduced shipping cost to the UK -
Thanks for your support and patience!
The blue coluor is Azure blue...atb...jeff.
Yes on fighters in the MTO theater, but for the ETO, in this period, it was duck egg.
I know some will say that I am rivet counting, ( I don’t care 😁) but this excellent representation is missing a small, tear drop shaped bulge on the lower right hand side of the engine cowling, underneath and forward of the exhaust and just behind the spinner. It encased the Mk 2’s Coffman starter. The Mk1 and MkV did not have that bulge as those models had electric starters. But easily shaped from foam, painted and then glued on. Some Mk2’s also had 2x20mm cannon in place of the 2 inner .303 mg’s, identical to the layout of the Mk VB. Such airframes were designated Mk 2B’s. Some Mk2’s, both A’s and B’s, were later re engined with Merlin 45 engines and re designated as MkVA’s and MkVB’s. A late relative of mine who joined 610 Squadron RAF just after the Battle of Britain, flew the 1st of his 485 WW2 combat missions, all flown over Europe, in a Mk2B.
Very nice, just a pity you can’t by this iconic British aircraft in Britain! Well, you can but since HobbyKing stop supporting the UK, buying from them has become very expensive, prohibitively so for many. HobbyKing used to be one of the first stores that I would check for my RC purchases but I don’t bother any more.
Apologies and as an update we have improved shipping methods, including DG, from our HK warehouse to the UK.
@@HobbyKingOfficial Recently I tried to buy a Durafly Tundra, it was £195 but only available from Global and the cheapest shipping option was £65. Then there is import taxes and courier charges taking the total to £330. To give you some perspective when the UK warehouse was operating friends at my flying club were buying this for £150. I’m sorry but HobbyKing has become far to expensive to even consider any more. I’ve just looked at the Spitfire, £200, shipping is £65, but I notice that there is a mysterious ‘shipping discount’ in the cart of £21 but that still leaves shipping at £44 making the Spitfire over £300. Sorry it is much cheaper to buy elsewhere - instead of buying a Tundra for £330 I bought an FMS Kingfisher from a UK store for £190. Used to love HobbyKing, have a great range, great unique products, I appreciate the global situation and why you wanted to close your UK warehouse but bottom line it has become extremely expensive now.
Any update for restocking this one for EU?
Stock should return in the next few months.
Stuart says “Available from all the warehouses you are able to order from now”. This could have two meanings.
1. It’s available from all warehouses, now!
2. It’s only available if you can order from a warehouse.
For UK and Australian/New Zealand customers it’s only available if you can offer up a kidney to cover the shipping.
What happened Hobbyking? At one time you were the World Leader in supplying the RC community. In the UK you hardly get a mention on most clubs flight lines, we certainly haven’t seen a new Hobbyking model being maiden’d prior to the human malware.
yer its a shame was just in the market for a new plane in aus
Hello, we have stock in our EU, US and International warehouse in Hong Kong. UK customers can now access a shipping discount we're currently testing automatically on check out when sending to a UK address. For AUS customers lower shipping rates from Hong Kong is being worked on behind the scenes as a high priority. Thank you.
@@HobbyKingOfficial I'm sorry, and I don't want to sound unappreciative of your efforts, but even with the discount the shipping costs are astronomically extortionate.
It would be nice to have a discount t code for Canada as well. Can't order from the USA because prices get crazy high.
@@HobbyKingOfficial HK still has an EU warehouse ?? Then why does nothing ever pop up if I want to order from HK from the UK - only GLOBAL ??? Or do you mean that you have an _EU area_ in your HK Hong Kong warehouse - that's about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike.
A Hurricane in the same size would be trick also and fw 190A
Just a pity you cannot get them in the uk
This is actually available in the UK and we have improved shipping methods from HK to the UK.
We can only see global shipping on the website
I would love to buy this Spit. But $382 +$324 postage too Australia is an extra pain I cant take. Insulting actually.
Apologies and we are working on improving shipping methods to AU/NZ
Hello sir
Good morning
ahh cool a spitfire that no one in the UK can buy
We have improved shipping methods from HK to the UK so you can get it in the UK.
@@HobbyKingOfficial Unfortunately the shipping is still half the price of the model before import duty, so no we cant.
great looking model, but no navigation lights? green, red and white? that's a shame
It has nav lights, but in the blazing sun they are a little hard to see, lovely at the end of the day however.
Pointless for the Uk now with cheapest delivery £65
Thanks for the feedback and we're working on improving it with lower rates.
Dee cals! Dee cals! Why is this so F@#king Hard?🙉👎
how can this model be so expensive??? i bought my durafly seafire for more than 100$ less than this one
For the same reasons everything in the world has gone up in the past 12 months.
Well well what a really nice surprise, Stuart brings back the lovely durafly spitfires..Will the MkvB and Mk1a return since its the same airframe? Great too see it back in the store
We shall see
