    Hi Adam,
    I bought this based solely on your review and what a FANTASTIC warbird! I was leery of Durafly, because I had a Tundra that had quality control issues. But the quality, fit, and finish of this plane is awesome. The decals are really high quality also. As to flying, well, it is just amazing. No other word for it. What a graceful plane to fly. Really special, but then I guess that is a Spitfire for you. Even though it is an advanced warbird, it does track really well on the ground for such a narrow-geared warbird. And when you get that nice straight take-off and/or landing, what a feeling! It is what we all fly warbirds for! And it has the power and speed we all want in a WWII fighter! Also, I have to say it is the most efficient warbird I have. I set the timer to 8 minutes for mixed flying and always have 3.8s or more left in the tank! 10 minutes of graceful flying are no problem for this bird! Thanks for a great review and turning me on to this fantastic plane. It is one of the treasures in my hanger!

      That is awesome Matt! Glad you are enjoying it. Durafly and HK will be better with Stewart Warne back at work there. He is a great guy and a very good product developer. In his absense, frankly, they were not the same.

    Very nice scale speed looking flight. I was fortunate to buy a Durafly 1100mm Mk5B desert camo version from Hobbyking a couple of years ago from HK UK before it all went pear shaped for £110 incl postage. Its still in its box as I have been flying my 1600mm Flightline version but I am tempted to open the box now !!!. The spec is basically the same as the new Mk2B but at £260.00p incl reduced postage I do not see too many takers from those of us who were used to paying less than half of that a couple of years ago. No doubt those new to the hobby may take a more charitable view !!

Damaged goods, lost items, etc. The price of the "free shipping" for us is the airplanes are $50 to $100 more than they were a couple of years ago. Its the world we have though. I just pay it, and play! Lol.

      @@ModelAV8RChannel At last I opened the box a couple of days go, added a further 55gms of lead up front to get the 60mm cg and had the first 4 flights today. Perfect calm day, bit of down elevator trim and it flew gracefully well. Plenty of power on a new CHNL 4s 2200 mah 70c lipo though I had to take the motor apart and file down one of the magnets on the casing as it was fixed with too much glue and grating badly on the rotor to the point where I dare not power it up for fear of burning up the esc !!! . I have the desert colour version with George Burling defence of Malta markings. I am going to enjoy flying this almost as much as my Flight Line 1600mm version.

    Great Job AV8R, just wanted to make one correction to your dialog. The original Mk1a from the same mold was also a 4S model. it was not intended for 3S though some fly it that way. The long ago Mk24 Spitfire that Durafly produced WAS a 3S model only. It was considerably slower with the non-scale 4 blade prop. (should have been 5). I designed a 4S 5 blade system for that model for Stuart just before it went OOP. again, great job and very nice flying! Tom

      Hey Tom! Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate the correction...I had forgotten that. I flew mine on 3s, which is why I remember more room in the battery bay I suppose. Great review. Such a shame to lose your Mk1a in such a freak accident! Very unlucky. Man your scale flight was gorgeous - and just how I like to fly mine. Long take offs, gear straight up and the proper approach to a scale landing. There is nothing more satisfying that pulling off a greaser with a Spitfire - not only because it looks so good, but because of the challenge with the narrow gear. I love my MkV, I've been flying it for years now - but only on the calmest days - Ive flown it off the beach and it looks amazing over the sea. My only real mod was to make carbon oleos for the gear after hearing many people bent theirs. I get 14 mins when I fly gently just enjoying that silhouette :)

      Ouch, just checked out shipping and it's still way to much for us here in Norway unfortunately, oh well..at least I have the Corsair 😁👍

      Dang! Hopefully they'll address the shipping costs elsewhere if at all possible.

    Spitfires look amazing but that narrow gear makes them so unstable, especially as they scale down to ever-smaller models. As always you fly these challenges excellently.

    Fantastic video. I have a spare AR631, do you think there's enough room for the antenna?

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  2 года назад

      Thank you! Yes...the best way I've found to do that is to cut a slit in the foam with your exacto knife, and then gently push the antenna in the foam with a flat blade screwdriver. Keeps the antenna pointed where you want it and out of the way. Put a piece of clear scotch tape over it.

    Good luck to the guys in the United Kingdom, unfortunately for us in Australia no such luck, Hobbyking has announced it is going out of business and closing down its Australian Warehouse because of the shipping madness. If I was to purchase this plane from the Hong Kong Warehouse it would cost me AUD $705.46 which includes the cheapest available shipping offered at $324.01.

      Hopefully the world will not be such a crazy place in the future. Fuel prices, shipping, its nuts. Maybe soon there will be a better shipping option for those down under...I hope so.

    What a beautiful detailed scale model, that flies as good as its real counterpart! I'm afraid to buy it, regarding my low skills as a pilot.
    Do you have any complaints from neraby airfield regarding RC flights?

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  Год назад

      It is a looker! Great flyer too. The closest airport to our club is about 10 miles away. They know where we are and stay high when they pass over. We always have spotters letting us know of full scale traffic.

    my first plane was an eachine 400mm bf109... im currently flying my second plane an fms 800mm f4u corsair. ive been getting the hang on landing it after the 6th flying session. right now im practicing touch and go's... so how do i know if im still a beginner or an intermediate pilot?

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  Год назад

      Opinions will vary on that. For me personally...a pilot is still within the beginner stage when they are just simply surviving the airplane. They may get them up and down unscathed, but a lot of the flight they are correcting for mistakes and have a hard time being consistent.
      A pilot is in the intermediate realm when everything that happens on most flights is manipulated by them. They are beginning to dominate the plane, leading it where they want it to go rather than being lead and reacting. Consistency is beginning to come together.

      @@ModelAV8RChannel I'm still shaking in my boots whenever I fly and my heart beats like crazy. How do I get rid of that. Does it go away over time?

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  Год назад +1

      It does. Just takes time and experience. Warbirds are tough to train on as a beginner. You might consider getting a high wing trainer, and maybe go to a local club and get some help with set up to make them fly as good as they can.

    I know it wouldn't be scale, but I'd really wish the landing gear was wider for grass ops stability.

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  2 года назад +1

      It's not that they aren't wide enough really, the strut cover catches the grass if its tall. I kind of dig that its a little harder to take off to be honest...true to a Spitfire.
