- Stuart's here for the latest flight demo of the updated Durafly (PNF) Me-163B V2 "White 10" WWII Interceptor Fighter EPO 950mm. Available now, including spares!
The Durafly Me-163B has been designed for pilots with some experience, it benefits from an incredible flight performance, and great stability throughout its speed range, and like the real thing, it is incredibly fast. Aerobatics including huge loops, vertical rolls out of sight, and very fast low passes are easily achievable, yet slow it down and it's very stable, with no hint of a stall. Using the recommended 2200mah 30-65C 4S LiPo battery and the supplied 6x4 prop, you can expect flight times well beyond 5 minutes and an abundance of power. If you love speed and very fast models, then this one is for you, the Komet Me-163 is ballistic, with speeds approaching 100mph.

Optional Rocket motor set-up: • Tips Bench - Durafly M...
This latest V2 version of the Durafly Me-163 retains some of the unique features of the original version, with the addition of some new ones. The V2 features a gravity release scale 'dolly' style undercarriage making the take-off procedure less complicated whilst reducing weight. It simply falls away once you pull up into the climb and the weight comes off the model. A magnetic gear release system is available as an optional extra if you require it, this is really only necessary if you fly from a bumpy strip. The V2 Me-163 is a 4S set-up as standard, this has been achieved by a redesign of the center internal fuselage and wing spar system, it has increased the internal capacity and has also further reduced the AUW of the model. However, the versatility of the power system remains, you can still fly the Komet on a 3S battery if you wish with no change needed to the power system. Even on a 3S set-up, the Komet is no slouch, it is still very fast and a lot of fun. The V2 color scheme is based on the Me-163B "White 10" as flown by Lt. Hans-Ludwig Löscher of 1./JG 400, Brandis, in Germany.
Being "Plug N Fly", the motor, ESC, and servos are pre-installed and ready to hook up to your choice of receiver. The molded EPO construction has a highly detailed finish on the outside, and extensive carbon reinforcement internally. Other features are a color-matched hard plastic belly skid, good access to all electronics via the battery/canopy hatch, and excellent cooling throughout.
For those of you looking for the ultimate scale experience, the optional rocket system is a simple drop-in affair, see the manual for details. At the flick of a switch, this will give the Komet a thrilling boost, realistic white smoke pouring out of the back, and an exhilarating vertical climb-out.
Features:
• Plug N Fly format with pre-installed motor, ESC, and servos
• Gravity release dolly style undercarriage
• Ready for the drop-in optional rocket motor system
• Tough EPO construction with extensive carbon reinforcement
• Stable and high-performance aerodynamic design
• Authentic color scheme and pre-applied decals
• Larger internal capacity to accept a 4S set-up as standard

Nice to see you again Stuart. I am/was a long-time HobbyKing customer. Unfortunately my flying days are over. On May 4, 2021 I suffered a right-side cerebral stroke which paralyzed my left-side. I am slowly recovering but as with any cerebral stroke, where no two are never alike; it's anyone's guess as to what I may get back. Take care of your health - that's the most important thing. You won't know it until you lose it !
Very glad this has returned, and a big thanks for the UK shipping discount. Looking forward to the video 😁
Glad to hear it Robert and thank you for your order. If you could post about how you ordered on some of the community UK facebook pages too that would be a great help in spreading the word.
@@HobbyKingOfficial Hi Robert....I used to buy alot of HK planes ...i think the planes are great ...its a disaster that they closed the UK warehouse....i live in uk and saw your post regarding shipping and thought i would also get one as i thought that there was going to be a reasonable discount that would off set the cost of delivery, but the discount hardly covers the cost of the letter u wil recieve from Parcel force £11 for paying the import duty.....The discount HK gives is £17.....the shipping is £48 then add the UK vat including the shipping cost which is 20% of £174 say £34 and the £11 for a wonderfull letter from parcel force...total cost for this plane will be around £219....Beware all UK shoppers!!!!!....Stuart i love your videos but please be as honest with your UK buyers....
So happy this has come back!!! I have 3 of them and will do what I can to add this one to my fleet as well. Thank you Hobbyking!! 🙏🙏
Well its in stock now in Hong Kong Warehouse and we have much improved international shipping rates now so please take a look.
@@HobbyKingOfficial one thing you didn't improved is the ESC, these should really come with at least a 50amp ESC. I've had the 40amp tap out after a few full throttle bursts and have had to land "dead stick" more than once as a result. That little 40amp ESC struggles big time on 4S. Might be ok on 3S, but on 4S it definitely runs way too hot and can thermal cutout.
My preferred setup is a 60amp ESC and a 7x3 Master Airscrew prop. The bigger prop gives you more torque and basically unlimited climb and you can reach speeds upwards of 200kph on 4S. If it were me, that's how I would've made the V2. 😉
@@HobbyKingOfficial Why don't you consider include maritime transport shipping option?
Still have V1, been flying it six years and it never gets boring and every flight is a blast! Bought the other two versions red one and the Japanese for backups, but never built them.
Nice Stuart. Looking forward to putting some rockets in the back of this one !
I didn't get an earlier Me-163, but I did just order this one. Excited to get it, as I'm also a model rocket guy. Thanks, Stuart, for continuing to bring us new and/or improved warbirds! [Oxotnik, on RCG]
Very nice addition to the Durafly family. This V2 is awesome!! Great job Stuart as always👊🏼👊🏼
Thanks 👍
Looks like a great Me 163B, well done Durafly H King, Jeff in LA USA
Great little plane Stuart! Love it. Quick...
Yes indeed!
Looks great! Hoping to see the BF-110 come out with a V2 now.
Great video again Stuart! Absolutely love this format which is both very informative and a joy to watch.
Many thanks!
Nice Stuart, you just made me take out my Durafly Me-163 again! It was really cool meeting you again in Tongeren unexpected! I'll work on your P-51 vid this week. Greetings*/Geert
I have the red version of Durafly with the rocket engine ignition switch and a larger one with a gas engine in GRP from the 80's. The Durafly model flies well and you don't need a bungee cord to launch it. The price you are asking is too much for me , but everyone has to know that for themselves.Meanwhile, I build my own models out of wood again and no longer buy foam models, and if so, then at most used ones.My larger ME 163 was built at the end of the 80s, flown a lot and is still beautiful. That's nice sustainable and cheaper in the long term.
Nice you brought out a V2, looks and flys great 👍🏻
Thanks 👍
Nice video,
I does have 2 units of original version 🤭, the red version, and the very early release of the original green army painted version, I like both of these and always a great but enjoyed challenge on takeoff 🤭. Btw, I were flying both of those on 4S 2200mah
Love to see this new V2 version, will sue going to buy a unit of it to complete my collection 😂.
awesome! always was looking for the original durafly 163 so im definitely picking this up.
sweet new plane!!
We think so too!
@@HobbyKingOfficial nice that it has a rudder too
Great video presentation. Well Done Sir.
Thank you kindly!
Its a great plane. One day would love to see a larger one available.
Very cool machine. Great video as always Stuart. I would go for the magnetic release so the gear isn't laying out there in the middle of a busy field for someone to run into on landing.
Good call!
@hobbyKing , i still have the Version 1 in red (in one piece, lol).
Take off from gras was a 50/50 game. After a handfull flights the right elevator/ aileron got lost and of course the problems that @Aussie RC Playground describes i had too. Durafly has a reasonable quality normally but Version 1 had a couple of issues. Sure i like the new design but waiting for some vids from other RUclipsrs if Version 2 will shine or not is the way to go imo.
Best regards RC TOM .
Looks nice HobbyKing!! Great fun at good price. I've never had one, so I may have to get one 👍. Stuart and cameraman (forgot name), great flight and video.
AirHammer out!!
Thanks AirHammer, Andries is our cameraman, and a great job he did too of keeping up with this thing!
Beautiful!
Thank you! Cheers!
Could the Easter egg be your sons DOB as the tail number 🤔
I still have a heavily abused V1 that flys great. It's an amazing airframe, one of my favourites. I picked mine up in a sale for under $100.
Not sure if I could swallow paying the current amount though, $288AUD+Shipping 😔
I did the tailwheel mod to my older one, it's almost needed on hard surfaces to help keep it straight.
Great plane! I still have my original. So fun to fly
Agree. I still fly my V1. And while it's a bear to take off from my field, flying it gives me a different kind of smile watching it scream low and fast runway passes. I've never considered 4s power. Must be getting old. 🤣
@@icin4d i tired mine on 4s. The manual shows it rated for it. Honestly not enough more to notice. I started hand launch mine. It was hell taking off from asphalt runway. I have the rocket and it's a cool effect. No real noticeable boost in power but it's a crowd fav at the fly in
Just checked, no surprise magnet not available
Yes sorry its sold out. But as you can see on the ETA on the page for this optional part, its due back in by end of October so please check back again soon.
Always a fun flyer, and the rocket will absolutely wake up everyone at the flight field.
Also, great tail #'s
Bravo
Hello. I am going to guess the special edition to the marking scheme is the squadron insignia of Squadron 2./J400 a Komet Me163 unit. The insignia says "Like a Flea, but Oho!" translated to English from German. The "Oho" means it is much worse than a fleas bite. It portrays a flea flying through the air with rocket exhaust coming from its rear end. I think your son likes the Flaming Flea! This is a reference to the springing into action at high speed to harass allied bombers like fleas harassing a dog. This quick response and high speed attack was supposed to be an advantage for the Me 163. Let me know if I am correct. Thanks Ed
my lads just got me one 4 xmas
We would all like to see that rocket and magnetic dolly uptional upgrade in action...
is this a sneak peak of a upcoming rumpler taube? in the slow flyer cameo ?
Any chance of the skysword 70mm pink v2 with upgraded trailing link nose and inrunner edf ??
Is the only difference from the v1 version is the dolly? The tail gear is also visible.
Nice. I'd buy one of these. Is the egg the shield sticker?
Its not, that's a scale unit marking actually. But the egg has been found by another already (DoB on the tail).
Looks a lot of fun I guess it's an expert plane only flown 400mm with safe so far .
Warbirds.
Volatex & Echine.
It's very fast. Is it a basic PNP with 3 cells?
Great flying plane, but Hobby King is constantly out of stock on all replacement parts for this Me-163, now my ME-163 sits on a shelf, since the motor it came with burned out after 5 flights, and no replacements are ever in stock
No battery straps?🤦🏾♂️ How is the battery supposed to hold on in place during high G maneuvers?
With the velcro provided. Note that the battery now slides under the wing spar and is held firmly in place. Don't worry its firmly in place and secure.
How did you manage to have no throttle when you were doing safety check as you did not appear to have disconnected the battery ?
Stuart had 'throttle cut' programmed in on his radio.
Two questions. How well does it hand launch. and are there any suggestions for wing tip skid protectors. Some of us will be landing on pavement. Let me know please. THANKS.
Hand launch is possible, but ROG is recommended. On the underside of the wing there is raised foam bumps at the tips that give some degree of tip skids. These could be further enhanced by adding clear tape covering them. Additionally some small slots can be cut in raised foam vertically for some clear plastic skids to be glued in. Would be a worthwhile mod if you are only flying from hard surfaces.
I have hand launched my ME163 V1 on 3s a few times, that works as long as there is some wind. On 4S it should be even easier.
Couldn’t you hand launch this model too?
Can you hand launch it?
Quiero uno!
Handlaunch-able?
I'm gonna guess the easter egg is the tail number is your sons birthday?
Correct, but unfortunately you were not the first to guess it. We'll have to make it harder next time!
Easter Egg? Your Son's B-Day hidden within the tail code? April 12th, 2015?
Bought this model, first flight motor mount screws came undone and the motor fell off. This is a factory fitted motor! Warranty claim rejected as the model is 'crashed'. It crashed because the motor fell off due to poor manufacture, I didnt have a hand in fitting the motor, the manufacturer did!!! Absolutely shocking customer service. First and only Hobbyking purchase
YA SOUND LIKE A FAMOUS D.J.
