  • This film is a true gem. This is the full-length version of the 1970's U.S.S Enterprise toy gift set commercial. There are shorter versions and different commercials on the internet else ware, but not this one. I was lucky to find this on a roll of 1970's toy commercials given to me. Quite a bit of time and effort went into the restoration of this film. Hope all of you enjoy it as much as I do.
This film came from my personal collection. This film was not downloaded from any website and is not reused content. This restoration is my work. The restoration process started with cleaning, repairing, and spooling the original 16mm optical sound print. Next the scanning to digital process was performed on the Retro Scan motion picture film scanner in 2k resolution. This film was in good physical shape but had quite a bit of color fade. luckily there was no substantial scratches or damage. Excess film grain noise was removed and the images upscaled to 4k resolution utilizing Topaz AI software. Then extensive color correction was performed in Davinci Resolve. After multiple color correction passes, noise reduction passes, and image sharpening, the film was processed for dust and scratch removal in Neat Video. Overall, I think this one came out pretty nice.

AWESOME! Me and my brother were given one each (Spock and Kirk). this was just before the arrival of the mighty Star Wars toys.

Very cool - thanks for sharing this! It's interesting that they shifted the transporter from the right side to the left between the prototype shown in this video and the production version. Must have been a late change in the process and kinda explains why Scotty's "Engineering" alcove is lacking in detail.

An excellent point. I've seen this commercial countless times as a kid, yet I never heard the chanting in the background forming the words "star trek " until today.

This must have been made to show at a retailer toy convention or something, try to get stores interested in selling these.

you do NOT remove grain OR UPSCALE when restoring film, that is EXTREMELY DESTRUCTIVE, and REMOVES FINE DETAIL. Neither do you use sharpening, you went from a decent scan to scrubbed, digital garbage at the end of the day,.
you also can NOT remove scratches, information from pervious frames is not how its done, you're just repeating information, that or using photoshop and creating more problems.
Upscaling and grain removal dont do anything, they're placebos, you can not add detail that dosent exist in the first place, its false information, it dose not "enhance" or "restore" anything.
what you've done is highly destructive and damaging,.

Well, having been doing this since the 90's, he has NOT done anything to detract from the original film. I looked at your channel and all you have is animation upscaled videos to show. This restoration was done well for what was used and I DO remember this commercial as a kid. There would little, if any grain, from the film if he was using the original negative or a good photo positive. Video from those days was full of low quality as it was 280 lines at best and was also interlace. The colors were accurate, black levels consistent with the era of film and grain was also not a real factor. Get off your high horse and just enjoy it for the nostalgic value it was presented as.
Were you even alive in the 70's? I WAS
