The Enterprise runs into a being that once visited Earth and was influenced the Mayan culture. Full episode available www.cbs.com/classics/star_trek....
Good thing Walking Bear just happened to have that shift at that time and the alien just happened to be listening on the Bridge's conversation. What a lucky coincidence!
Russell Bates, the writer of this episode, stated that his script was left virtually intact when produced---virtually no rewrites, no changing of original dialogue, etc. Quite rare for a script to make it to final production without the necessary "cuts and changes".
I saw this episode only once when I was a kid. I thought it was one of the best of all the Animated Star Trek episodes. Kukulcan's ship is unique, though. Original and completely alien. As Spock would say, "Fascinating!"
David Wise, the co-writer of the episode with Russell Bates, said that the story was partially inspired by, as he put it, the "crackpot" book "Chariots of the Gods."
Observation: "I've never seen anything so beautiful!" Query: "Where did it come from?" Kirk: "Let's find out .." The Spirit of enquiry & quest for knowledge ..
Nobody can. Filmation Associates, which produced this series with Paramount, heavily re-used stock footage and head shots as a cost-cutting measure. I recognize some of those shots immediately. But it didn't affect the great storytelling from the original writing crew.
Is it me, or just captain Kirk who said ..' Koo-bla-kahn '....While walking bear and spock say...'' Koo-Koo-Khan ''?...lol Kirk seems to pronounce it with an '' L '' in it...lol
+ponchai allen It has an "L" in it--but no "B": Kuhkulkan. How every seems to be saying it, even if can sound like at times that the second syllable can come off as a "kla" sound. But Kirk is not saying Kublakan, the name of a Chinese Yuan dynasty emperor.
+ponchai allen Shatner mispronounced it the entire time. Unfortunately they usually did their recording separately wherever they happened to be so no one was around to correct him.
If my pit bull spike had not been in the bedroom i might have thought i was hearing something that was not there but since he was growling at it , how will the government deal with the security breach.

All the original actors provided their voices for the animated series of Star Trek.
Yeah Walter was not part of the voice cast for the animated Star Trek series.
He did write a couple of the episodes though.
fantastic!!! I watched this as a kid, brought memories back.
They put some work into this animated series.
Two Canadian voice actors William Shatner and James Doohan in the cast.

Khkulkan talks just like Sargon from "Return to Tomorrow". (Doohan provided both voices.)
As well as Mr. Walking Bear!
Coolest cartoons ever. Better writing than the actual series!
why did you remove Star trek: the animated series from Netflix? I didn't watch all the episodes
Who knew North American Indians were so knowledgeable about Central American Indians.
Ensign Walking Bear stated at 1:05 that he studied many ancient Earth peoples including his own.
That's a flying Rio carnival shrimp in drag costume, spaceship!

Walking Bear should have a yellow shirt with his command insignia.
Loved the animated series
It just dawned on me that Kukulkan sounded awfully like Sargon from “Return to Tomorrow”. No surprise since James Doohan provided both voices.

Earth’s true past is hidden, but there are clues. 🐉
At 3:06, I laughed in a way that I have never heard myself laugh, before! I just can't take the animation seriously!
Where is your imagination?? That is sacrilege!!

Jim Schuck Ya, that would make sense. Thanks. Just thought maybe my hearing was bad..lol
Shatner also famously pronounces "sabotage" "sabatage" in the original series which is apparently a product of his being from Quebec.
thank you for liking my comment, sir.
THEY have peaked my interest
This was the original Wrath of Khan.
