Top notch evasive manoeuvres right there....
People seem to be expecting a bit too much from a cargo ship.
@@neorenamon - that's fair to be honest, not sure why I was expecting barrel rolls from a cargo hold with engines.
@@dreadnought-ai The evasive maneuvers taken look very much like the ones the Enterprise took in their failed attempt to escape the First Federation warning buoy/cube at the beginning of the live-action "Corbomite Maneuver."
Epic musical score.
Like Han Solo drifting lazily to the left.
That man "knew some moves!"
>evasive maneuvers
>moves slightly to the left
I seem to recall that this would be the same complaint-and same directional response- that Family Guy had of Star Wars and Han Solo's piloting of the Millenium Falcon: ruclips.net/video/2UDeZ-H8QOU/видео.html
"He's listing lazily to the left!"
@@agquad Go Left! Go Left!
@@christopherofarrell8665 Boy, this guy knows some maneuvers.
I haven’t seen such impressive maneuvers in ship piloting since Han Solo bragged about his abilities in Episode 4…
The original cast members Kelly, Nimoy, Shatner, Doohan were sometimes doing voice over work in this filmation effort.
Think they did all of them. I remember some odd thing that they couldn't have Sulu on it
It was Chekov.
Chekov wasn't in the animated series because they didn't have the budget to use him.
Why was Koenig different? Was he busy doing other stuff, or they ran out of cash? Did he ask too much money?Bender IsGreat
+Bender IsGreat
Checkov was replaced by the three legged red guy, "Mister Erix". Likewise, yeoman Rand was replaced by Kizinti "Lieutenant West".
is it just me? or is the music from 1:10 to 1:23 kinda epic
It is not just you. The hall mark of Filmation shows in the 1970s with their employment of Ray Ellis. The music on ST: TAS was really a high point--which struck me even as kid watching this for the first time when it originally aired.

Your music is tracks 4 and 7.
"Evasive maneuvers!" I remember this episode, especially when Kirk fought the Orion captain on that asteroid.
Pondering what it would be like to be robbed by LT Arex. “A three-armed bandit?” Ill go now.
That side to side was REALLY helping.
Yeah moving left to right that we'll work 😂😂
🤣🤣
I wish they had Lieutenant M'ress in more of the episodes, she is one of my favorites from TAS.
@Eric Fellner LT M’ress’ voice was same as nurse chapel and the computer, plus purring and meowing.

@Jamie Rose May her memory live long and prosper.
were flip phones inspired by startrek coms?
Yes
Mobile phones themselves were, though the first ones were of course much larger.
Yes
Ya Think? Of course they were. iPad, Bluetooth ear pieces. Alot of our current technology was inspired by Star Trek.
I'm waiting on the Light saber from Star Wars. Some one out there is working on it.
I like that Kirk ordered his Weapons Officer to compute the Huron's new course at 1:34. Very authentic for the time.
I can't imagine technology ever advancing beyond this.
The days when federation ships didn't "need" to all have a saucer, and each ship had a different badge, like a "mission patch" for today's astronauts. I wonder why the Enterprise mission patch became the badge for the entire Federation?
The Enterprise delta became the symbol for star fleet because out of all the star ships assigned during the five year exploration of space period , 2266
- 2269, the Enterprise accomplished her mission successfully . in one piece. She was legend. So star fleet adapted her symbol for. General use. Captain Kirk was promoted to Admiral. 2270. Now you know the rest of the story.
@James Clark Each ship had a radically different patch shape. Look up a shot of Matt Decker and Ron Tracy from different Starship Class cruisers. The starbase staff had genrric round sunburst patches. You see that same one on every starbase, space station and ground assignment. That must have been the generic Starfleet Badge in the 60s. The ships had specific mission patches like NASA crews did.
When you see liberty on bases like in Court Marshal you do see some Enterprise style patches mixed in with others. Most likely stock costume shirts they stuck on extras and one line walkons.
We need that drug, Jim.
Looks like “driving miss daisy” is at the helm.
I wonder if they ever considered re-doing the animation, the same as the original series' F/X?
Noooooooo
This looks better than TOS CGI “upgrade.”
Safety Time Machine Key Points
1. Has an Automatic door lock
2. Goes invisible
3. Moves objects out of the way
4. Has a small camera/TV inside
5. Has rocket power to fly 😎🚀
The Huron is such a unique looking Starship.
Freighter, made to haul lots of cargo.
Remember this series well NBC 12:30 pm on Saturdays 1973 this series won a Emmy in 73 best animated series
The 1st season was on at 0930 here CDT % CST. 2nd season was 1000.
Captain O’Seay of the SS Huron? Obviously that’s a Riker
Season 1 and 2 are on Amazon. I saw season 1 and starting season 2. I remember never watching this as a kid 1973. i was 8 years old. I watched just about every single cartoon possible Saturday mornings from 6:30am-1pm. Only took me 45 years to watch it. And they actually really good. in 1973 there was a Hollywood California writers guild strike. But writers where aloud to write animation. So this is why the episodes where really good not meant for 8 year olds but 13 and up i'm guessing.
Yeah, I still think the show holds up well, given its origins for Sat morning fare nearly a half-century ago (the 30 minute format is the only real negative here. Watching this when I was 9 or 10, 30 minutes would feel like a longer span of time--but Trek being a dramatic (and action-adventure show) does better with the hour format. Of course, Fimation was already spending a ton of money just doing half hour episodes . . . ).
RE: So this is why the episodes where really good not meant for 8 year olds but 13 and up
Yes to this as well--this was in fact a sore spot for NBC when the show aired. The animated Trek actually got very good ratings (acc. to Lou Scheimer), but wasn't doing well with what NBC thought should be the core demographic for the show--the younger kids crowd (to which the commercial advertising was geared). It was teens and adults doing the watching.
The unfortunate bias we have mostly escaped from, thankfully, that if something is animated it must be a kiddie show.
@@sail2byzantium I don't know, I wasn't a teen at 11 yrs. old. And my Mom and Dad were no where to be found (they didn't watch cartoons except Jonny Quest which was primetime). My Dad loved Sci-Fi, but not animated. NBC was full of it.

?????. I don't recall asking any questions here so I don't know what you are talking about with the "I don't know". I was just responding to the initial post.
I remember this
This music was eventually used by Filmation on most of their other shows! You can get the Filmation soundtrack for Star Trek TAS and other Star Trek rarities here: lalalandrecords.com/star-trek-50th-anniversary-collection-musical-rarities-from-across-the-star-trek-universe-limited-edtion-4-cd-set/
that captain needed surgery, but what about the other two crew?
good point.
Idole
So - since this is in 720p, does that mean we might eventually get the series on BluRay?!
Yes, MeTV said it is coming to Blue Ray.
I downloaded laser disc rips of this a while back from a torrent site. Ya might find them
Obviously went to the Han Solo school of fancy flying.
Kirk sounds like Big Daddy from Kick Ass 😄
No continuation of this animation ?..
Did they record their lines in one take or something?
I'm surprised nobody has taken these cartoons and redid the space scenes with modern 3d, perhaps in a cartoon render mode.
When did Sean Connery join Starfleet ?
😂
Where can I full episodes?
Awsome...
I'll die
I don't remember this one. The voices sound original though.
Where is Lt. M'ress, the cute feline humanoid with that purring voice? She was cute! Feature some episodes with M'ress, please. "Pirates of Orion" was a good episode, particularly the fight between Kirk and the Orion commander!
Scimitar
If you watch TOS episode "The Ultimate Computer" CGI remaster, you'll see the freighter ss Woden was retro changed from a DY-500 ship like the Botany Bay to one like the SS Huron from TAS. Screen cap:
vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/memoryalpha/images/5/5e/Woden_remastered.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20081210030240&path-prefix=en
The S.S. Woden Cargo Ship design was taken from The Star Trek TAS Episode More Tribbles More Troubles as was The USS Antares in the Star Trek TOS remastered Episode Charlie X. The S.S. Huron has a different profile compared to the other Cargo vessel.
@@marcusjustice6165 You are correct. The two animated cargo ships look a little similar, but are different.
@@josephmassaro "Antares" from the "Charlie X" remaster was basically the 'More Tribbles More Troubles"robot cargo ship with a crew module stuck on the front.
Are these stories canon?
What ep was this from?
The Pirates of Orion. The first episode of the (only 6 episodes) second season.
I never have understood why the Orion PIRATES would be willing to die, in this episode or in the TOS episode "Journey to Babel"--wouldn't pirates just be doing it for the loot?
Very good point! ⭐⭐⭐⭐
By definition, Criminals are selfish, not altruistic .
(Or, at least their motivations are).
Their willingness to die to prevent exposure or capture shows they are operatives of the Orion government, or other higher authority.
Orionian?
Yeah--that pronunciation always bugged me. They got it right in the TOS episode Journey to Babel: Oh-RYE-uns rather than Or-EE-Ons
@@sail2byzantium And Spock was a Vulcanian for a while
@@LordTalax
Yes. But a few extra syllables isn't as bad (esp. as TOS was in its more fledgling form with "Vulcanian") compared to thoroughly mispronouncing them.
If we go from vul-CANE-ee-Uns to, I don't know, vul-KAHN-nee-Ons, then we have a problem.
cheese but i was a kid in the 70's memories
Evasive manuevers
We moved to the right AND the left !
