I’d do more than slap anyone who says Stairway To Heaven is boring. The problem is with the individual, not the song, and I’m saying this as someone who isn’t even a big Zeppelin fan. I really love a good few of their songs, but they are a repetitive band. The way I would describe them as, is that they’re a much more talented version of AC/DC (both are really repetitive, but they have some fucking killer classic songs).

Led Zeppelin actually only did like 3 legit covers, there are just a lot of songs that have other songs lyrics, but have nothing to do with the original song musically.

jimmy actually justifies this...in order for a band to start out in those days it was sensible to do covers or renditions of known songs...even in the beatles first albums there were some covers...but if you see in the later albums they are purely original...they had no intention of ripping off anything...in order for them to get to the top they had to start somewhere

They’re not known for their lyrics. They’re more renowned for their command on their respective instruments.
I personally think that the thing about Jackson is that he's going more with what's trendy. I know it all comes down to preference, but I've met people like him, before; people who believe that if the music is old, it's automatically bad, and only newer music is good.
It could possibly be a peer thing. Like, his friends listen to a certain kind of music, and he doesn't want to seem "uncool" by listening to a bunch of crusty, long-haired dudes (in his mind. I love Led Zeppelin, just to clarify). I mean, he even said he doesn't like real instruments in music, which probably means he only listens to Electronic and Hip-Hop, both of which I also love, but he's just being a close-minded kid, really.
I would think so too. When I was in high school, I personally wasn't afraid of letting people know that I listened to old music (Jazz, Funk, Soul, R&B, Psychedelia, Blues, etc.), even though the majority of my peers either only listened to what was trendy/on the radio, while the others listened to Pop Punk/Emo stuff. At this point, I listen to just about everything, and I'm proud of myself for being so open to new music.
