Imagine getting your diploma from someone who can't read!!!!!
It was on purpose
DEI
This is why Liberalism is insane. What you have here is simply equity and diversity, not MERRITT....
This is a perfect example of diversity or equity, not (merit). EMBARRASSING
She was following directions. Like to see her textbooks after her professor suggest student highlight
the best part is that the school name is Thomas Jefferson University, and she can't even pronounce Thomas right!
A-A-Ron? Is A-A-Ron here?
Totally 😂
It took 6 minutes for them to stop! That's the problem. People need to have a backbone and stop the craziness. Really even 6 names were too many!
The "unfortunate error" absolutely does reflect the attitude of the school towards their graduates.
I wouldn't send my dog to the school...
there you have your diversity
@@jenscheibner792Your dog doesn’t need “that school.” Dogs are brilliant if you understand their behavior, language. I get them. I just don’t get these people
Ridiculous, what a disgrace.
Ladies and gentlemen: The next President of Harvard University.
100%
Who vetted the announcer needs to be fired, I hope the announcer was not educated at this university, what an advertisement for this school of learning!!!!
I learned elsewhere that she has a master degree from another university in the U.S. and that English is her first language.
@@waynebollman what's the name?
What could explain this....a speech impediment or a learning disability ? I don't wish to jump to harsh conclusions before knowing all the facts. Some people do have difficulties speaking for various reasons, including partial or complete deafness.
The announcer wasn't doing this on purpose or for a public stunt. She was given name cards that were in phonetics and ONLY phonetics. For example, the name "stephanie" would look like "stef-uh-nee".
man the regret in their eyes, they just paid 200k for a degree from a bunch of people who can't even pronounce english names.
welcome to america
😆😆😆👍
@@lunarlight3131 And it's only going to get worse.
What in the world? I would be pissed if that were my child going to get their diploma.
When key and peele substitute teacher skit comes to life.... 😂😂😂😂😂
Thought they were celebrating the Key and Peele skit
That was my first thought too! ruclips.net/video/Dd7FixvoKBw/видео.htmlsi=X6jOh8iOs8FaiaTH&t=19
This is absolutely disgusting
I actually feel bad for the students who worked hard to graduate from university, only to have their name butchered the way she did or be part of a joke she thought was funny. She shouldn't have been hired to call out the names.
I have been in that situation where I was the one responsible for announcing the students' names as they walked up to get their degrees. Long before the graduation date I asked for a list of names. For names that I was unsure of the pronunciation, I contacted students directly to make sure I would pronounce their name correctly. I practiced that list for over a month before graduation. My belief: Students had an investment in that college/university, and the least we could do for them on their special day was to pronounce their full name correctly.
Exactly, this is a big moment for them (or should have been) This woman made a mockery of the ceremony
Exactly! Contact the students directly to get the correct pronunciation. OMG Poor kids and their families. I wouldn't want to tell anyone I graduated from Thomas Jefferson University after this. 😮
@@DavidCox3521 Three years ago we attended the graduation of a grandchild.
The person reading the names of the graduates made no effort even to try to pronounce the students' names correctly.
One young man actually grabbed the mic and said, "You took my money but can't even be bothered to say my name correctly.
We're nothing to you but a fat paycheck."
He screamed his name into the mic while the audience cheered.
@@FlexibleFlyer50 Good for him... Thomas did try to correct her...
When educators are not even EDUCATED to read... SMH...
DEI
It was a long time coming. I saw the warning signs with "common core". Then by 10-15 years ago a point of no return had been reached and in such a way where there can be no doubt it was purposeful. Now all one needs to do to see what that purpose was, and then learn what happens next, is go research "Mao's cultural revolution".
This might be a funny video but it also speaks volumes. I hope this help more people see what's actually going on behind the scenes here that lead to this.
Who needs a phonetic spelling for "Thomas" or "Jessica"?
Someone who is completely or near completely illiterate.
@@waynebollman Or possibly someone who is trying to mock and humiliate American, and more particularly Caucasian, students.
@@waynebollmanOr possibly someone who is intentionally mocking and trying to humiliate American (and more particularly Caucasian) students.
Lolo where I live, many pronounce Jessica Yessica, so 🤷🏻♂️😂
@@ryanyuk Nobody cares where you live.
Who's idea was it to pronounce the graduates' names in a messed up way intentionally? I smell a publicity stunt for viral video
She butchered the most common names. Definitely on purpose 😂
@@doxoxo779 That's what I thought at first too until the university put out an apology.
That's what I thought (it was intentional). Her accent sounds like very western, not Indian, Chinese or any other distinctive accent... still these are very common names, hard to believe someone who works @ university (no matter what background) never heard of them or have hard time pronouncing them.
I swear it sounded like she tried to hold back a chuckle a couple of times 😂
@@3abbosi It has been confirmed that her first language is english and that she is a college graduate....... who cannot read with or without phonetic spellings right beneath the actual words.
Who did they have? Someone who can't speak English correctly?
DEI
Maybe hire an English speaker?
💯!!
And an EDUCAYED one too
DEI strikes again...
Oh, the Liberals can't have that. It goes against their insane diversity or equity narrative. Do you mean hiring off of merit makes more sense? Who'd have thought it? 🤔

Who the heck can’t pronounce Thomas…at Thomas Jefferson university?

DEI grifters
Who was the speaker? Whats their ethnic background?
DEI
They sound AA to me.
Exactly what you expect
College educated american. Obviously.
The irony of an illiterate reading out the graduation names for a college is (chef's kiss)
I've been a PA announcer at sports events and an emcee at various large functions. I always scan the list of people's names in advance to see if there's any possible doubt about pronunciations and ask what is the correct way to say them well before I turn on the microphone. It's common courtesy. This woman obviously could not care less about accuracy.
Is this being done on purpose!?!
I thought that at first but the university put out a serious apology so it wasn't a skit or a joke. This lady learned to read in a public school where she was taught to memorize words without learning the letters or their sounds. This makes it very hard to read names because they are words you don't see everyday and might not have memorized. It was only a matter of time until these early 2000s kids grew into adults and now here we are... 30% of highschool graduates now-a-days only read at a 1st grade level... I know a teacher who says her special ed students from 20 years ago performed better in every subject than her regular students do today, plus all honor classes were removed from the district in the name of DEI.
Common Core education is a disaster.
Absolutely. If someone cannot read normally written names, they certainly would not be able to read phonetically: ˈdʒoʊzɪf ˈbaɪdən would be even more unrecognizable to them.
This diploma must be as valuable as used toilet paper. Couldn't someone on the staff stop this woman and have someone replace her that could read? Shalom
100%
Makes me wonder if they can read
She did it on purpose
I believe she was just stupid.
Could not have written it funnier on SNL
Key and Peele skit, look it up...
Someone has to have pranked the announcer... right? It's one thing to mispronounce some syllables, and another to not know where the first name ends and the middle name begins.
This was intentionally done. She should be fired.
An absolute disgrace. I feel it was somewhat intentional.
I really thought is was done on purpose, some sort of sinister joke, or a protest of some kind.
This had to be a setup. Someone most of passed a fake list of names, sounded out differently, just like the, San Fran Airport crash and news report names of the airline crew which were a joke!
The racist announcer did this on purpose and should be called out for it. No student should have stepped forward for a deliberately and maliciously mispronounced name.
It was done on purpose
Sounds like an impediment
Yeah, no.
Sounds like they didn't get a qualified person for the simple task of reading common names.
You had one job 😂💀 Poor kids.
No one tried to stop her or correct the problem!!!! Even Worse...
I would have replaced her immediately after she mispronounced the first graduates name INCORRECTLY. What was she thinking if not thinking @ all. This goes for the faculty also. Don’t find this to be humorous @ all. Time to go back to school lady & get learned.
This is such a show of disrespect to the graduates. Whoever hired this announcer needs to get their head checked.
the college will be sued for replacing her with someone that could read.
Somebody didn’t pass phonetics.
And apparently she must’ve never used a dictionary before,
Devastating for students
and parents...
She did the Key and Peele skit
They can't read ? Is it a joke ???
if its in phonetics, the lady is doing such a bad job at reading them. i would like to see the apology video.
If she didn't have to say a bunch of bizarre Foreigners' names. She wouldn't have got all tongue-tied on the rest of them. Unless she's doing it on purpose, because He doesn't belong in that country either.
I believe Adele Dazeem was part of this graduating class. Congrats, girl!
Ta Moo May Jeff Re Soon University must be proud.
Thanks for spending tens of thousands of dollars with us, here’s how much respect we have for you! I would have stopped in the middle of the stage, grabbed my diploma, and turned to the crowd and SCREAMED my name properly.
I would not have come forward: I have not heard my name called.
For real!
How did these students keep it together??!!😂😁
Wait Wait Don’t Tell me did a bit on this. They played what she said, and asked “can you guess what the actual name is?” It was hilarious.
😂 it's not funny, but it's also funny af. Why is it always funnier when you are supposed to be serious.
They need to expose the woman who said those names so horrendously.
Why am I awake (so late) seeking these out, and laughing so hard? 😂😅
DEI is a hell of a drug.
Faculty was like I didn’t realize we had so many ethnic people at our school 😂😂
Stupidity control
Even if this was phonetically spelled, the names were phonetically spelled so horribly wrong it's no wonder she messed up! But if she can't read names, why in the world was she even made announcer in the first place?! Ridiculous! The university should be ashamed of themselves.
Who is the announcer? why do they not show who did this?
Even if all the names were written out phonetically for the reader, they wouldn't ALL be that badly translated. Unless they used AI to generate the pronunciation?
How am I just now hearing about this? Lmao wow!! 🤣😂 This is like that Key & Peele skit
I like how she didnt face any difficulty pronouncing the last names but struggled on pretty normal first names.
They put Kay and Peele in charge of the ceremony.
You done f#cked up A-a- Ron!!
Way to go Thomas
I would have stopped in my track and said that is notmy name! White guilt is a hell of a drug.
I need to see who is reading the names. I want to see. They won’t show us!
I gotta say, this is awesome. Better than those long, useless, fun-less, dizzying speeches at graduations.
How rude
Could have pronounced names like Shaniqua perfectly
Mr Garvey : Finally a worthy opponent
phonetic spellings?? Is she illiterate?
Is she just hateful???
This was a joke right?!?!
I don’t understand. What is the reason behind this? Did the announcer have a neurological problem? I don’t mean this in a mean way at all, I genuinely want to understand how this happened
DEI is how it happened.
the cards had below the names some unhelpful phonetic spellings & she was reading those
@@hya2in8 thank you, I was so curious to know
The only thing that makes sense is that this woman was having a stroke
Tahmoomay here. Whaddyamean noone's named so???
I haven't laughed this hard in a while.
WTF?
they only mispronounced the white names
Do you have a link to the full video? (sincerely asking). She may have mispronounced other names too but they edited the video to only show the 'white' names since everyone basically knows how to pronounce it correct in US (so the mistake is more glaringly obvious). Regardless they should never have hired that announcer.
Not Dan Abrams quoting Key and Peele 💀💀😂😂
At least they now all have the absolute best nick name.
It must be a prank by the University!
Jordan and Peel come true again.
Thats DEI for you
100%
Sounds like what happened on a San Francisco news channel years ago... "Wee too low, Sum Ding Wong....."
Sounds like they were afraid of a "My name is Comma-luh" not "kuh-mah-luh" moment and tried to hard to at it, but ended up looking stupid in the process
When you try to be inclusive by using phonetic spellings for everyone, but wind up being exclusive!
Look at the bright side, at least millions of people watched their ceremony😂
EDI gone awry
no, DEI going exactly as predicted
No, their IED went off as intended...
I thought the announcer was having a stroke. Is she from a foreign country? Can someone explain WTF is happening?
DEI hires all around us.
D Nice? No D Nice here today huh?
Is this a Key and Peele's A A Ron tribute?
This is what happens when someone was taught to read on Common Core principles.
Wokism at its finest. Why cant this woman read?
Right, phonetic spelling 😂😂 😂
Wtf 😳
Announcer sounds like Biden's younger sister.
She went full “Deedee MegaDooDoo.”
AFFIRMATIVE ACTION, POLICE OFFICERS AND FIREFIGHTERS HAVE HAD TO DEAL WITH IT FOR YEARS.
