  • This Valedictorian called out her high school's staff for their lack of support and setting bad examples in this scathing grad speech.

In US news, high school graduate Nataly Buhr shocked the audience and the world with her San Ysidro High School valedictorian speech. The headlines will surely read 'Valedictorian shocks world with brutally honest speech,' because in this grad speech she called out teachers and school staff for being negligent and accused one faculty of being a drunk teacher. Buhr hoped students would find her graduation speech inspirational. A rep from Sweetwater Union High School District called the speech 'unfortunate.' Buhr is evidently not the teachers pet.

Students should check into scholarships themselves,in this day and age of the internet. It’s not hard.I did myself, not relying on on anyone else. Not excusing the administration. But when you become an adult in the REAL World are you constantly going to rely on other people for everything.GROW UP!But it does wonder how legitimate her being a Valedictorian is.

@@gregoryadkins2213 The way she spoke about it, the school had made it known that they were aware of scholarships. Obviously students should ALSO be looking themselves (as did I), but if the school has a list of them, or perhaps are privy to programs not readily publicized and don't care enough to respond to students' requests, that's a huge problem. When you're that age, the whole transition to college thing is terrifying. They are not quite in the real world yet and need help.

What I mean by that is the scholarships that are in the administration (for my school they had a bunch of forms of each one for anyone to apply to), they weren’t easy to find/wouldn’t show up with a simple search and these were some big (and really specific to program) scholarships

Yes, I have hired plenty of people. I was the hiring/regional manager at LOVES for a few years before I decided to go back to school for nuclear engineering. P.S. Scholarships are made purposely difficult to come across in the United States, since you can't just apply from anywhere you want. Most are regional, and hyper-specific. She was definitely smart enough to expose all of those so-called professionals on the perfect day at the perfect ceremony. That’s because you didn’t teach them to stand for what they believe. Its the Union Spokesperson that still has some learning to do. But that is how the liberals do things. That is why the schools system as well as most democrat-run cities are failing miserably. Because they'd rather NOT bring problems like these to the surface and address them. No, don't you worry about her, worry about the millions of kids that are trying to learn something in this miserable school system.

We had a teachers assistant at my high school who was pretty cool. She was always different but I've realized in my time since high school how different this woman really was. She was older than most of the teachers probably late 40s early 50s and I remember her asking this one kid how things are at his job. This guy was not the best student and definitely struggled but he managed to graduate. While basically every other high school teacher saw working in high school as a waste of time, this teacher knew that that guy was gonna be working a job like that forever and that his success there while he was in high school was gonna help him move up within the company or a similar company and I'm pretty sure he still is doing something similar to this day. We also asked her one Friday night if she had any plans and she responded with "working my other job". It's pretty cool that she took the time to understand and talk with students like that (and I wasn't much different) where as the rest of the staff it was almost like we didn't exist. Most teachers seem to only really care about their smart kids that are gonna go to a big expensive college or whatever because that's who makes them look good. Rarely is there support for the underprivileged kids (usually males) who are lucky to still be in school because once they graduate they're gonna be into the workforce and none of that will matter to them.

The only thing they COULD do was stand there and wait for it to end and do damage control afterwards.
Honestly, it was a brilliant move by the student because they would have brushed ot under the rug if she "aired her grievances" on a letter or in the privacy of their offices because they protect each other and their jobs so nothing would have been done. Epically if she had waited until after the graduation - they would say shes no longer a student and dismiss her.
So doing it this way forces them to hear her and address the issues because now the media and everyone else knows and are watching their response.

I can tell this speech probably wasn’t authorized by the school but sometimes you might have to be sneaky to get the truth out. It must be a great feeling, accomplishing something so big while speaking out against those who wronged you and wanted you to fail. There’s no greater sense of retribution. Even if it doesn’t lead to change at your institution, at least you’ve had your voice heard. Good job.

My college counselor has purposely submitted college apps of students she disliked late. No one believes the students and students aren’t willing to speak up during their time in school because it could mean risking your future. i live near this school, less than 15 miles away, little did the valedictorian know that her councilors daughter was just killed by a drunk driver while she was running one. that councilors “absence” was because her daughter was murdered and she was taking care of herself and family.

@@kayleahrierson628 For most of the year? Because I highly doubt the valedictorian would've said that if that happened and students are normally told/emailed that something has happened and the teacher/counselor would not be at school for a few weeks. When things like that happen, the other counselors/ a new temporary counselor is appointed/hired to help students. She could've let the students know there was a family issue and she would not be available and would reschedule their appointments with other counselors or for when she was able to come back to work. Plus the student would've known it if you know it and wouldn't have blamed her for being absent for that but for the rest of the school year. I'm sorry for her loss.

Thank you whoever you are you are amazing! ❤❤❤ They are busy Judging and not helping. Those above them also told them how to treat the kids. What they have done to our children is soo wrong. MY SON BECAME SUICIDAL WITH ALL THE THINGS THE SCHOOL DID TO STOP HIM FROM GRADUATING. SOME OF THE KIDS DIDNT MAKE IT. WHAT THEY HAVE DONE HAS CAUSED SO MANY DEATHS NOT ONLY TO THE CHILDREN AFFECTED BUT ALSO TO OTHERS WHEN CONFUSED HURT CHILDREN LASHED OUT AT OTHERS CAUSING EVEN MORE DEATHS. THIS NEEDS TO STOP. EVERYONE EXPECTS THE PARENTS TO STAND UP AND THEY SHOULD BUT THE STAFF STOPS THE PARENTS WITH FEAR OF EVEN SPEAKING OUT AGAINT WHAT THEY DO. AFRAID THEY WILL TAKE THEIR KIDS AWAY AND DO EVEN WORSE TO THEM THEN WHAT THEY ALREADY DO. ITS TIME FOR EVERYONE TO STAND UP CHDREN, PARENTS AND STAFF. TELL THEM THAT YOU WILL NOT TAKE PART IN HARMING THE CHILDREN AND HOLDING THEM BACK AND TEACHING THEM WRONG ANYMORE. Am I perfect no, nobody is. I have done things too and held my child back accidentally because of the abuse I endured myself. But I died and I am new in spirit and raised up in spirit. I have repented of my sins. God says its time to stand up. Its time to speak out. And I am so proud of this girl. ❤

Althea Meier Ok so my math teacher threw a potluck for the last day of school, right? Everything was normal until we started cleaning up. And just- LMAO. He screeches, “WHO’S COOKIE BOX IS THIS”? we all respond with a, “I’m not sure” or , “I don’t know”, because we all brought similar items and it was hard to tell who’s was who.We just brush it off and say for him to eat it, as there was only one cookie left. He says, “I’m on a diet” and then angrily walks over to his desk. One of the kids says, “Why not just eat” this ticks him off for some reason and he says in an angry tone, “This is why teachers get grey hairs”. We all start laughing and at break we tell all of our friends. Whenever we say his name they always respond with, “You should get him a cookie”. Anyway, just wanted to share that.

      That's typical for a narcissist.
They're totally never wrong. So they spit the problem back in the victim's face to maintain their own delusion.
I've been on the receiving end of it for so many years, to the point where it becomes that predictable.
