Perfect “wake up” game and moment for OU. Every year, every top team has a game like this, where they just don’t play well (see GA/Mizzou lasted year, 2019 LSU at Auburn, 2010 Auburn at Kentucky). Sometimes you just have to find a way.

Always can find the bandwagoners on here too (be clear I can tell you're not one) because in many other comments people are losing their minds about yesterday. The 2000 Natty team had two games like this (A&M and the Cowboys). We should be ok as long as the issues are addressed this week. Kansas isn't simply rolling over.

This game felt like the 2000 Bedlam game in that it basically came down to our defense making a stop. There are a lot of differences between this game and the Bedlam game, but it just gave me that "do or die" vibe. In 2000 it was the last game of the regular season and it came down to our defense making one last stop, and we did it. Derrick Strait knocked the ball away in the end zone. Our offense still had to run out the clock, but it was really the defense who won the game in the end. This game came down to our defense stopping the 2 point conversion, and they did. The onside kick was a lot closer than it should've been, but we got it and ran the clock out. But it felt like it was the defense that really won us the game at the end.

USC Trojan Fan and Alum here: Someone out here in SoCal has to say it, so let me, you guy's at OU were right! There were many Red Flags which were ignored, we cannot ignore it any longer! The offense is struggling and our Defense is a sieve with NO IMPROVEMENT in sight! Although we may have talent all over the field, the coaching has been abysmal to say the least! Yes, you guy's in Norman warned us, we didn't believe you, and more important, we didn't want to believe you, NOW WE HAVE NO CHOICE!! • @SchoonerOffRoad

It’s been well documented that I’ve been critical of the kicking game all off-season and to start this season. In saying that, my criticism very early in the offseason was saying that’s something we need to address. When I stated that, it was to either get our kickers up to par or get another kicker in to push the kickers OU has. Now, that it’s what we got and that’s that. I do agree, if supporting the guys in a positive way will help get them in the right frame of mind, I’m all for it. So let’s go guys, you can get it down the field and through the uprights. You’re a Sooner with a great team on your back. So, take us where we want go. Boomer guys, let’s go.

Majors reminds me of Kejuan Jones. Lots of running into his blockers and getting tackled by his ankles because he doesnt get his knees up and spends too much time bouncing around behind the line instead of hitting the hole. Needs to play downhill and run with a purpose to avoid weak shoelace/arm tackles.

I'd agree if that were the only time Majors gets caught up at the line, but it happens whether it's B-gap or an edge run. He is at his best on the sweeps/flats passes where he gets the ball in space and is able to run. When he's having to burst through a hole or shake off an arm tackle he just doesn't have the explosiveness to make it happen. I'm not saying our o-line is getting the job done for run-blocking, but there have been holes opened up that Majors could get through, but he runs too timid. I'm surprised Coach Murray hasn't helped Majors address that issue.@@TylerVann-xw3ih

Any thoughts on why we rotate all of the defensive positions except for our LBs? I realize they are the QB’s of the defense, but i don’t see why Kip Lewis couldn’t get a series or two with Stutsman, or Mckinzie in there on a play or two. It seemed pretty clear that both got tired in the last two games and given the limited number of chances, Kip has made the most of them with big plays.
It’s also hard to say either aren’t ready, because I’ve watched Jared at least, bust responsibilities as well. Jared also missed on another free run to the QB, and in third downs Lewis seems to have better skills.

The bottomline is that Gus Malzahn is a flatout magical in his schemes. So the defense did a hell of a job but offense did not back them up with scoring. When the defense makes a great stop, a turnover, and/or even getting a goal line stance, go score the football. Score consistently throughout the game. Offense has to score more consistently.

I wish when it’s 3rd and 15 , if we would send pressure instead of dropping back and letting them easily pick it up. O-line gets no push they disappoint me week after week, and the running backs can’t break a tackle. We need a fullback. If we had any kind of a run game at all we blow them out! R mason to me was a huge part of their big plays , he didn’t play well that I saw.

I have no problem with the calls for taunting simply because if it’s not called, the potential for things to escalate is magnified. It’s not a “gotcha “ rule, every player knows it’s there. We got lucky against Texas, Ethan did it…. TWICE lol. It’s obvious the refs do let a little of it slide but Kanak went too far.
