1. Malcolm Kelly freestyle has to be honored 2. I spoke with Keith Jackson on the phone and sadly was not informed on Sooner football history. He told me to "look him up." 3. I was one of few Sooner faithful in the corner at the 2013 Bedlam game in Stillwater. Had to go to bsthroom to regain feeling in legs. Worth every second.
I will inceease this a bunch if you add Uwe von Schamann The Kick! Truly one of the most joyous moments of my life - beating Ohioo State at the Shoe. DO IT! Place him right next to Baker planting the flag!
This wont be a popular take but Brandon Everage was one of my favorite defensive players from the early 2000s. His aggression and violence at the safety position was awesome.
@@Tijuanabill well he played 20 years ago so that rules out younger fans and he's not really considered one of the legendary sooners. Casual fans probably don't even know the name.
Any "fans" that don't know who Everage is shouldn't call themselves fans. Everage played with a mean streak. He and Roy Williams are two of the hardest hitting safeties to ever play the game.
@@OK_Breakdown your guys’ podcast is in my top 3 to watch and listen to. Always looking forward to what you guys have to say about OU football and other content. Keep up the good work Gabe and Teddy😎
I don’t know how you leave off Jamelle Holieway guys. Man won the natty as a freshman running the wishbone like a boss. I get that it’s just a painting for Gabe though. btw +1 vote for Shepard and Ikard.
Teb was one of the fastest defensive sideline to sideline players I’ve ever witnessed where I was in the stadium…. Absolute STUD! Loved watching you Teddy !
Gotta have Little Joe! The pic from SI where he is hurdling an open field tackler. He was far and away the most popular player in my generation (BBA OU 1980). He could be your specialist too! He ran back punts, kicks and punted. I get it’s Gabe’s era primarily… but just saying.
We are all so invested in this. Definitely have to see the final product. What a fun painting to reflect on and discuss every time you are out there. We also have OU theme in our cabana. One red wall, red sink, OU stickers on lockers, some OU photos. We put the big TV exactly where I can see it from the ledge lounger in the pool for game watching.
Hey guys great episode. The only guys i noticed you might have overlooked was Perine. All time lead rusher in school history for career and single game.
Really episode. The list is nearly impossible to keep to 30. A few thoughts: 1, You should absolutely put yourself in the painting. 2. Here are some more names. Torrance Marshall and the pick 6 vs A&M Andre Woolfolk. He doesn’t have the stats but his tip catch vs Nebraska was an iconic part of the title run. Quinten Griffin and his touchdown run vs Florida State.
Great episode! Regarding the Heisman winners... you could include the trophy itself in the mural and then have all the winners' names on the plaque (with some space left to add JFA in the future, of course).
If it's limited to 30 players, what about bordering the mural with tributes? "Play Like A Champion" across the top, 47 in a corner, silver shoes in a corner, Perine's muddy jersey from the record day in a corner, and maybe just Still's hands holding up 1-2 in a corner.
Also, Danny Stutsman in the golden hat with a cigar is a top 4 OU photo. It’s in rare air with the Superman play, Boz in the bandanna, and Baker planting the flag.
This was an awesome episode. I loved this painting activity and makes me want to do something like this too. Edit: I wouldn't put a kicker on there either lolol
The problem with goalkeepers is that the taller you are, the harder it is to get to the ground. That being said, having watched a 6'4 TE/DL step into our goalkeeper room and immediately be the best player was incredibly impressive.
It would seem a natural to me that for Teddy's picture on Ike's mural to have all-in-one Roy "Superman" Williams's tip of Chris Simms pass with Teddy's interception, maybe a stylization of a multiple frame length of old-time motion picture film showing the short time interval of the event with just enough so that the story isn't truncated.
I can’t tell you who to put or not put on the wall. Honestly Gabe as the wall reflects you as a player and then OU football history I would visually represent it as two circles. The inner circle would represent OU players of your time/most influence. The second outer circle would represent players and plays from the past (outside of your time as a player).
Another idea is to put some older iconic moments either as shadows or blurred in the background. May be a way to add extra and easier for the artist to do.
I'm sorry but Blake Bell, Trey Millard, and Landry Jones gotta go; making room for Joe Washington, and Lucious & Dewey Selmon. Gotta keep Selmon brothers together, too iconic to separate.
Here's my list. I based it off players I've had the chance to watch. These are my favorite players since I started watching. 1. Sam Bradford 2. Baker Mayfield 3. Kyler Murray 4. Adrian Peterson 5. DeMarco Murray 6. Joe Mixon 7. Samaje Perine 8. Rodney Anderson 9. Trey Millard 10. Dimitri Flowers 11. Ryan Broyles 12. Kenny Stills 13. Sterling Shepard 14. Dede Westbrook 15. Marquise Brown 16. Tony Jefferson 28. Billy Bowman Jr. 29. Gabe Brkic 30. Tress Way
You HAVE to include Perine with the knee...c'mon! GAH!! When you listen to all of the greats, I don't know how you choose other than a few obvious choices. So many greats!
You should do 2 separate paintings 1 for offense, 1 for defense. Or…. 1 for all-time OU football and 1 for the guys you played with. PS. Mark Clayton and Aaron Colvin were some of my favorites that got left off.
Growing up I looked up to the murals and pictures of the old legends, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with dedicating a mural to the younger legends
I’m going to throw something out there… maybe consider getting prints made of the mural so that we can buy them. Recoup some cost, sell them for charity, doesn’t matter. This needs to be in my basement. 😂😂😂
Regarding Ike's planned mural, if there's not a picture of him, and repping Bud is by the "Play Like A Champion" sign (great idea, Teddy) I STRONGLY believe that a readily visible (a "you can't not see it" size) should be "47" included maybe somehow connected/attached/blended/something also, perhaps some sort of stylization font/outline/shading/whatever used in its writing. It doesn't need "straight", "in a row" or anything like that, anybody worthy of making a considered remark will not have the slightest doubt what it's about. (those unworthy shall be ignored, pointing up their ignorance. notice the continuity of 'ignored - ignorance' and they're natural for pairing).
Gabe if you don't think Canada can play dirty, might I suggest you look up Canada's history of not caring too much about the Geneva "Suggestion" during war.
Let's be honest, to have a mural depicting all of the greatness of Sooner Football would take a mural the size of the stadium. I feel like your mural is a little QB heavy but still feel like your doing the best you can with the space you have. BTW we need pics after it's finished.
1:18:05 Tactics. Play style. Same thing you'd watch any other team sport. You want to know how they plan to attack and defend. Do they want to hold possession, play direct, or some other plan of attack.
Maybe the artist could incorporate a specific player’s number (players who didn’t quite make the cut to be painted) blended in the background like a hidden Easter egg. 🤷🏻♀️

For the mural, Baker has to be planting the flag. Possibly the focal point of the painting. No more iconic baker moment than that.
☝
100% the focal point
Would be funny if it was of Baker running from the cops.
GABE, you MUST show the finished project when it’s done. We’re very invested now.
Torrence Marshall I’m here to get my boys trophy is an iconic moment
I agree with Teddy. Mural is about how OU has impacted Gabe. Not a historical statement but how it is a part of Gabe’s life/history.
Great way of putting it!
The Play Like A Champion sign needs to be at the top of the painting.
Quentin Griffin high stepping into the endzone at the Orange Bowl.

Planting the flag and Superman have to both be front and center. Both of those are iconic moments to the fans.
I second this
marvin mims insane touchdown catch against texas in 2021 pylon cam picture would look awesome
Baker plants the flag! Iconic! Unique.

@@Tijuanabill well he played 20 years ago so that rules out younger fans and he's not really considered one of the legendary sooners. Casual fans probably don't even know the name.
I agree! One of the first names I thought of making my own list of potential secondary options!
Any "fans" that don't know who Everage is shouldn't call themselves fans. Everage played with a mean streak. He and Roy Williams are two of the hardest hitting safeties to ever play the game.
@@RobertBryant-kg6eu absolutely. That's what I loved about him too. He played like he had no concern for his own well-being.
Billy and Joe in the maybe is sacrilegious
What about Kenny Stills throwing up the 12 in honor of Austin Box after his TD at Florida State?
Will be on there FOR SURE!
Maybe a pic of Antonio Perkins running in the last punt return for a touchdown that set the all-time NCAA record?
That's EXACTLY what I was thinking! Perk AND Perine should be in there!
I watch and listen to all the episodes, but this one is probably (as of now) my favorite episode from you guys
Glad you enjoyed it!!

Torrance Marshall INT vs. A&M in 2000 clinched the win and preserved the undefeated season.
If you are going to put Old School players in the painting, you MUST include the Selmon Brothers!!.
Jimmy Harris qb’d much of the 47 game winning streak. His winning percentage is 1000% ! 👊🏻
Damn, I kinda want to commission my own OU painting now. Really like Teddy’s idea of having the “Play Like a Champion” over the top.
Blake Bell doing the semi horn honk crossing the end zone!
I'm just hoping we get to see the painting here on the channel when it's done! Thanks for all the entertainment on my drives to and from work guys!
Dante Jones (LB) doesn’t even get a mention! Criminal
Teddy's evil "Yes" near the end is priceless 👌 😅
Gotta have Rickey Dixon there. Definitely in the top 3 DB's in OU history.
the Superman play repped in one of the endzones w/ Lehman TD shown.
In the top left, Wilkinson on a step ladder, putting the Play Like A Champion Today sign up, to signify what he started here.
I'd totally have Quentin Griffin on there. Dude was a fan favorite on the 2000 national championship squad.
The SI cover of the three Selman's in a game should be condensed into one.
Billy Bowman and last year's goal lin stand!
I got a solution, an offense painting in the spot you planned and a defense painting somewhere else.
When talking about Keith Jackson, the hook and ladder play is what comes to my mind

14:20 gotta have him in the middle of the painting planting the flag
Joe Washington and Billy Sims
You need a bigger wall
Fair point!
Also, Danny Stutsman in the golden hat with a cigar is a top 4 OU photo. It’s in rare air with the Superman play, Boz in the bandanna, and Baker planting the flag.
When you get the mural made T-shirt and sweatshirt sales will abound

Baker planting the flag

K Stills catch between 2 FSU DBs was more impressive than game winner
What about Steve Owens? Do you want to Heisman or Quinton Griffin? He did real good. Especially against Texas.
Quentin Griffon blue collar player OU champion!!
