  • This is what will happen to your body when you are fasting. If you are planning to start an intermittent fasting protocol make sure you watch this video first, to find out exactly what will happen once you start.

Are you wondering what will happen to your body when you fast? Cuz if you are you should know that fasting will provide benefits that extend far further than just burning fat and making your diet more sustainable and enjoyable. When your body goes without food for a certain period of time, you'll experience changes that effect your brain, your digestive system, immune system, hormones, and even the function of all the microscopic cells found within your body. When you first begin fasting a few things happen at the cellular level that may cause hunger and fatigue if you're a beginner. this is because Your body will normally get it's energy from glucose or carbohydrates, so depending on how much sugar you have in your blood, and how much glycogen or carbohydrates you have stored in your muscles and your liver, it can take anywhere from 8 to 48 hours without food for your body to switch from mostly using glucose or carbs for energy to breaking down fat and using ketone bodies for energy in a process known as gluconeogenesis.(1) Now, to most people, the concept of going anywhere from 16 hours up to a few days without food may sound incredibly foolish and unhealthy but the exact opposite is actually true and it hasn't always been so mainstream to eat at least 3 times a day everyday. Human beings have evolved to be perfectly capable of going long periods without food. And this is supported by research on modern hunters and gatherers that shows that they go between intermittent periods of feeding and fasting depending on the availability of food. (2) For example modern Bushmen living in Africa go through frequent periods of food deprivation ranging from 1 to 10 days when they can't catch any game, or when they have seasonal droughts, or especially when animals migrate. The truth is that most healthy adults have evolved to be perfectly capable of fasting and the good news is that you don't have to fast for 10 days to experience the benefits for your body. Just 16 hours will provide some really unique beneficial effects. And when going through your first 16 hours without food the first thing you should expect is to start feeling really hungry right around your regular meal times that you're skipping. This is because of a hunger hormone in your body known as Ghrelin, which stimulates your appetite when it's released. And studies show that ghrelin levels will spike up at the times of the day that you normally eat, which for most people is breakfast, lunch, and dinner. (4) This will happen to your body automatically, and if you give in and eat before your fast is over the same thing will happen again the next day. On the other hand if you just ride out that hungry feeling, within about 2 hours after the initial spike in ghrelin, it should drop back down to normal levels and your appetite should drop. (4) And as your body adapts more and more to skipping a meal like breakfast or multiple meals throughout the day you'll feel less of those automatic cravings to eat during those key times of the day that you normally find yourself hungry. If you allow yourself to adapt to consistently fasting for just 16 hours a day, while eating a healthy diet during the other 8 hours you're body will start to become much more sensitive to insulin. Having higher insulin sensitivity will not only help enhance fat loss, it'll also help you feel much better when your body doesn't have carbs available for energy, and it'll help reverse or reduce the risk of a number of serious diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and even thyroid conditions. Now, during each of your 16 hour fasts, about 6 hours into the fast your body will begin going through another incredible process known as autophaghy. This is a process where your body begins destroying old or damaged parts of your cells. When you're always eating your body doesn't get a chance to do this because it's constantly rebuilding rather than breaking down. And breaking down unnecessary and dysfunctional components of your cells allows them to be recycled so they can perform optimally. This helps reduce inflammation throughout the body which helps fight a number of diseases. (5) The benefits of Autophaghy will also extend to your skin cells potentially slowing down wrinkles, age spots, and acne. Your immune system will also improve thanks to autophaghy. Your body will repair and produce brand new white blood cells which will be...

Hope you guys enjoy the video. Click "read more" below to see the 15 studies used to make it. Just a reminder that a randomized control trial is the gold standard for study design. Some of the studies below are randomized control trials, but some of the others will need further research to solidify the claims. Particularly the last few studies on cancer, will need much more research before we can accurately determine the effects that fasting would have on cancer in human beings. Again hope you guys enjoyed the video and thanks for tuning in!

As always great video and it’s a reminder that intermittent fasting is an opportunity for the body to cleanse itself of waste and to increase one's metabolic rate.
More than 1400 years ago, Prophet Muhammad used to fast on Mondays and Thursdays (twice a week) and recommended everyone to do so if they can.
Fasting twice a week is not only (Sunnah) tradition of Prophet Muhammad but its more clear as shown in your video and other studies by other professionals in the heath industry to be a healthy routine for your body.

Intermittent fasting saved my life, coming from someone who’s always struggled to eat healthy. I can’t stomach the idea of fruits and vegetables, always makes me throw up. Started doing intermittent fasting back in July and I’m already down a whopping 76lbs! I went from 308lbs to currently 232lbs. I crushed my goal of 250lbs and looking to hit 200lbs by the new year. God bless. ❤️ Thank you for giving me my life back. (I’ve also been working out 4-7 days a week)

Great video, thank you for posting it; very good information. I watched this a couple of years ago and started fasting. I do a couple of three-day fasts per year just to keep my body healthy and allow it to heal itself. I have since done a 5 and 7 day water only fast and feel fantastic. The best thing is the mental clarity and agility, the next best thing is not going to the bathroom and third, saving money and time not having to buy food or cooking. I must say that re-feeding after a long fast must be planned out and slow to allow your body to resume its functions of digesting food for energy. I always feel shaky on the third day after beginning a fast, at around 36 hours. I believe that this is due to my body switching from burning food to burning fat after using up all the stored glycogen in my body. Your liver stores toxins in fat to protect your organs until it can neutralize and get rid of them; sometimes you will feel sick or shaky when getting to this point but you are getting rid of those toxins, so drink an adequate amount of waters. I drink reverse osmosis water and use a pinch of Celtic Sea Salt to keep the necessary minerals coming into my body since I am not getting them through food, this will make you feel better and your systems work properly. I find that I have just as much energy as if I had eaten because fat is stored energy, but I don't exert myself too strenuously during fasting. Dr. Jason Fung, MD says that if you have at least 3 pounds of fat on your body you can do a 7-day fast, so just about anyone can fast to gain the benefits of autophagy and other benefits of fasting. If you are interested in fasting, look up Dr. Jason Fung, MD, Dr. Goldhamer ND, and Dr. Valter Longo.

I am going through these benefits right now. I started out at 430 lbs and now I am 399lbs. It has been about 2 weeks and half and I’ve made so many small meal changes that I know are healthy. I walk for about 30 mins to an hour about 3 or 4 times a weeks. Before I started this I had a very unhealthy lifestyle and diet. I used a sweat a lot when I had to go out to places and I hated it ..... it brought me so much attention and it was over all made my stress worst in front of people. Now I feel better and I am happier and less tired. The sweat is still there but it is far less because I am in a better state and I am glad for it.... I hope I will never go back and I will continue to push myself. I was thinking about making a channel.... tell me if it’s a good idea...

I do intermittent fasting, eating between 18:00 and 20:00 and fasting the other 22 hours of the day. I combine that with Keto, that is eating more fat and cutting on sugars (less bread, rice and pasta and no pure sugar like cake or syrup). It's easy to cut on sugar when you still eat fat. I still eat potato chips but in my 2 allowed hours. I give myself a break on weekends but don't over indulge. It's hard the first week but it gets easier and easier as you body adapts. I'm 6'1 and my goal is to get to about 200 lbs. I should get there before the Holidays.

Indeed. Although I am English (Christian) I have worked with Muslims for many years doing quite physical work. I quizzed them a lot about how they feel during Ramadan, and independently looked out for any signs of physical weakness or lack of mental clarity as a result of their fast. On the contrary, as far as I could tell, they seemed on 'top of their game' in every aspect and many were happy to with their weight loss, albeit in many cases short term. I used this as motivation to start an Intermittent fasting protocol. Early days, but I am down 10 lbs in 2 months. Blessings 👍

I do it for God mostly, anyways fasting breaks food addiction and bad eating habits, I stopped gaining weight, I also cut out a lot of meats, pork beef lamb everything but white meat. Fasting is good for shadow work meaning disciplining your low self and becoming ONE. You hear your true self more, you make better decisions. Just don’t do it for image wise do it to tap into your higher self. Peace be with you my betheren 🌹

D.A. Juel I just got thru Praying to Christ, Which I do 3 times a day on my knees but, It says to "Pray Without Ceasing." in the book of (1st Thessalonians 5:16). Anyway. I am not posting you to teach you about God because from what I read in your post, You already know him. In my pray this morning, Outside of all the things I prayed about, I decided to pray to God for someone that will understand what I started on Saturday night from 12:00 am until 3;00 pm Monday afternoon. You might notice that that is exactly 16 hours. D.A. I have never done this before in my life. I am 66 years old. I weighed my self on Friday. I was 201. Today an hour ago I weighed myself again. Now I weigh 195? Is it possible to lose 5 lbs in just 2 days? Anyway, Here is where I need you help. Because you have been Fasting for a whole year, One day a week for a month, Then 2 days together once a week for a month. And you do it for God. This is exactly why I started to do. Plus I am trying to kill to addictions to 2 medications, So. For me I much stay into the word of God. Please feel free to just say, Larry. I can't help you if I am bothering you. I will understand. I was interested in you mainly because of something you said in your post above. You were eating lots of meats. So did I until Saturday at 12:00 am. I was eating steak 3 times a week, Or, Pork every 3 weeks. And I am always chewing on Beef Jerky. I don't like Lamb at all. I was eating everything but White meat because I can't stand the dryness of White meat. That is why I never like Chicken Breast. How do you eat that White Meat? Do you moist it up somehow? And, Do you eat fried food? Or, Do you eat your meats grilled or broiled? There is one more thing. What am I doing while I am going thru the 16 hour fast everyday since I am on my vacation right now? I am drinking water but, All thru the fast from the time I wake up at 4:00 am? I have a 10 ounce warm water glass filled with 6 other things which I am sure you have heard of. I warm the 10 ounces of water up for one minute. When I take it out of the microwave I put these 6 items into the warm water. (1). Squeeze half a Lemon. (2). A teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper. (3). A pinch of Black Pepper. (4). A tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar. (5). A tablespoon of Honey. (6). A teaspoon of Turmeric Powder. I drink this thru the Fast. At 3:00 pm I will eat a bit of Salad & Fruit with grilled Salmon. I know I should not eat a lot and get full. How much should I eat after this 16 hour Fast? Like right now I it is different then yesterday. At this same time yesterday I was not feeling dizzy like I am right now. I was not sweating like I am right now. Does this get harder every day? Thank you. Please Reply!

Larry Long Hi Larry and God bless you, listen, you’re on the right path to purifying your eating habits. I’m no health profession and what I say you shouldn’t go off by because If you’re on a lot of medication I suggest you eat light, such as you mentioned salmon and salad. I’m on medication and I found eating nothing on meds all day kinda leaves me fatigue and irritable, because I’m loyal and naive I just go without food because I don’t want to break my word to the father, which I’m sure he doesn’t agree with but I manage to get through it. Being a 66 year old is a big accomplishment I must say and wanting to change is an excellent achievement well done, I don’t eat chicken breasts due to it being dry and uncomfortable to eat, I use chicken thighs in stir fry’s and fish now and again, but even sometimes I don’t enjoy the taste of chicken so I won’t bother cooking unless I have dinner company. The best man to deal with is God so maybe when you pray next kindly slip a word in about guidance when it comes to your particular fasting, you don’t have to be hardcore like me and totally eat nothing.. I’m 33 and still got enough stamina to feed a nation, because your well matured I wouldn’t go doing anything that jeopardises your well being. When I first started fasting I asked God to guide me, I get bad feels whenever I go grab some bad food, it’s like the Holy Ghost is working on me too. Anyho Larry keep striving to eat better and also read certain nutritional books just to fill in the gaps with your eating plans. Be safe and bless your road to salvation. Amen and Jah be with you!

starting a 3 day water fast today!! I want to prove to myself I can stick to something, lose weight & be healthier ✨
also I’m rewarding myself with a dinner date night with my bf on friday so tryna keep that as motivation 😂
    Day 1 - 10 HRS into fast
    weight: 10st 12.8lbs
feelings/notes: mild/moderate hunger pangs from the second I woke up and a loud growling stomach but feeling motivated to keep going! kinda just want a bowl of coco pops but it’s not worth it lmao
(Nighttime update - I’m so hungry & want to give in but using willpower to keep going!!)
    Day 2 - 34 HRS into fast
    weight: 10st 8.0lbs (!!)
feelings/notes: I feel very energetic this morning, not even hungry!! I’ve been productive and achieved a lot since I woke up, even been dancing around my living room lmao! It’s weird cause most people describe day two as a slump but I feel opposite, yesterday was hard for me and I was so hungry and kept getting cravings. But I’m glad I didn’t cave because I’m feeling good today and I’ve lost nearly 5lbs in one day?! I’m supposed to be meeting a friend today so might be harder to be around someone who is eating but currently I feel good and confident and happy!
    I’ll keep updating this!! ✨
