"Forgot perfect, I'm trying not to be worthless."
^ Always gives me the chills.

Funny Gamer why do you say that?
Linkin Park THP LEAKS Too true
Last line always does it for me.
We used to play def jam fight for NYC and smoke ciggàretes with our girlfriends on a coach and listen to this instead bout 4 years later....after producing this track until Eric brought cocaine over until we did care....😒
Damn, it's 2023 and this song hits harder than ever. It's sad how underrated Mike is.
Yea...wish more people knew about this music, always hitting the spot
How right you are dude!
I"ll put my name on this. We love your passion Mike, we see you.
Agree 1000%🎶
Check out " heroes " Eminem & Linkin park collision course 3 , much better version of this song .
Mike Shinoda doesn't write songs, he writes stories with a beat behind them
NEVER thought of it that way before
M. Shinoda is a legend. He's better than Marshal Mathers when it comes to story telling, the sound of his voice, and the flow. The king of punch lines goes to Mathers. But Mike Shinoda is still and will always be my favorite rapper cause he go hard!
This is rap in its truest and most unique form
People put LP success behind Chester, but he was the soul, while Mike was the mastermind.
Yep! I agree!
11 years later. Still a timeless classic.
Exactly
Captain X your right best song true classic
remember being a kid sleeping on this old reddish orange couch listening to this with headphones. those times...
So truee
I wasn’t born when it was made
2004
But this stuff is epic
Age doesn’t mean stuff
Meaning
Love
Pain
Skill
And 100% reason to remember the name
Makes the best song
How the hell is this not Fort Minor's most popular song by a LONG shot??? Fuck Remember the Name, this song is in a completely different league.
as much as i agree this song is amazing, i think Kenji is even better.
I don't know. The perfect/worthless/purpose rhyme is kind of corny and overused but this is still probably my favorite song from The Rising Tied.
Kenji is f*cking depressing.
That's reality for you.
Coolidge Owens Fuck you for saying fuck you for a fucking song preference
this song fuckin haunts me, gets me every time, can't believe it's over a decade old
It makes you think doesn't it...
yea
very true.
Mike Shinoda is a Gift to the Rapper Scene. He dont need any Bitches he dont need Bling Bling, Cars and Money: He needs us to listen his Great Tracks! THAT is Art in my Eyes
"I'm not a hero, but don't think I didn't care. "🖤
You know me
I used to get caught up in everyday life
Trying to make it through my day so I could sleep at night
Tried to figure out my way through the maze of rights and wrongs
But like you used to say
Nothing feels like it's really worth it
Forget perfect, I'm trying not to be worthless
Since I last saw you I've been looking for a purpose
Well, I met this kid who thought like I did
He had a weird way of looking at it
This is what he said
Slip out the back before they know you were there
And at the worst you'll see nobody cares
Cause you don't wanna be around when it all goes down
Even heroes know when to be scared
Now, I don't remember where I met him
Or remember his name
But he walked funny like he was just too big for his frame
Just over five foot but he weighed a buck fifty
And what he said seemed so right it stuck with me
Listen, it's like poker, you can play your best
But you gotta know when to fold your cards and take a rest
And know when to hold your cards, hold your breath
And hope that nobody else is stacking the deck
Because I don't need to tell you that life isn't fair
It doesn't care, it arbitrarily cuts off your air
And like you, I want someone to say it's okay
In the truest part of our hearts everybody's afraid
We're just under-appreciated and overwhelmed
Fighting so hard to hide our fear that we're scaring ourselves
You understand what I'm saying, cause you always did
But it's different in the words of a cowardly kid who said
And I'm no hero
You remember how it was, you know
All I ever did was worry, feeling out of control
To the point where everything was going end over end
I'm spinning around in circles again
This is where you come in
All of this to explain to you why I had to
Separate myself away from yesterday's life
Please remember, this isn't how I hoped it would be
But I had to protect you from me
That's why I
Slipped out the back before you knew I was there
I know you felt unprepared
But every single time I was around I'd just bring you down
And I could tell that it was time to be scared
That's why I
Slipped out the back before you knew I was there
And I know the way I left wasn't fair
I didn't wanna be around just to bring you down
I'm not a hero but don't think I didn't care
I think the part about this track that hits home most for me is that it certainly seems to be written for *some one specific* Beauty and art for sure.
Mike has that bite to his lyrics. I wonder what's in store with Chester no more. RIP, hope to see you on the other side Mr. Bennington.
They are both awesome people, remember they've known each other since teenagers in art school! And they are in the same freaking band.
2005-2006 COME BACK!!!!!!😭😭😭😭😭
2024? Anyone?
Doesn't feel like it's been 13 years

Mr. Hahn is the underrated producer.
i just cant handle it. The music is just too good.
Dylan Butler ask yourself, is it good, is it true or is it both. Which one is more important to you?
Both to me but truth is subjective.
Chilling
This is as good as it can get. Good story, interesting beat, charming voice. Damn this is good, and it always was.
i love this song. it makes me feel not so alone....that someone out there can possibly be feeling the same things i am...it gets me through one more day...
"But every single time I was around I'd just bring you down".
Damn man this really hits hard. Listen to this feels subreal, like being stuck back in 2005. in my opinion is more than a song, is a experience
If u listen to his lyrics the whole story in this song. U know what kinda kid he was. This song is deeper than most people realise, great song!
Fort minor need to drop another album
this song never gets old 🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎸🎸🎸🎸 my jam 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 😎

Those lyrics hit like a fucking truck.
This song is so true about me, when my parents fight I would sneak out to get away from it and I would go to a friends house and try not to think about it, and the sad part is that my parents give a single shit were I was
I usually settle down the fight myself. AlI I say to them is, that it looks funny how they yell at each other, and it's not a serious reason to conflict. Also I make them think it's my fault and make them turn their anger to me and after that they stop. maybe You try.
Okay, I'll try that. Thanks
+Quinlan McClure so what happened?
+ShiLL PiLL 2 years still nothing... something tells me it wasn't good.
rip
This is great, some of the finest allegory style rap I've heard. The poetic structure is amazing along with the classical background
I needed to hear this right now... being alone is one true feeling.

This song sends chills down my spine that I can't explain.. every damn time I listen to it. In a way.. this song scares me. I've never heard a song that's done that before.
2020 here and still vibing to this song like it just came out
This song makes so much more sense the more the years pass
Goosebumps through the while song, intensify right at the end, every single time
Never gets old
Here is the real rap music.
i literally just got chills all up and down my body listening to this
Most underrated track of all😍🔥
This song touches me. Too good
What a masterpiece 👌🏼 great beat
7 years and this song still fits me. geez
Such an eerily haunting song with an equally eerie and somber beat.
This is that music that stands the test of time, MIKE SHINODA. Certified LEGEND!.
The beat and the lyrics both awesome !!! i'm one of it who still listen in 2011 !!
fucking mike's voice. makes me pay attention to the song. something about it. damn.
real good.
Same mate
i dont like rap...but i like shinoda
Why dislike?
10 Years Later: Still A Banger
its just so real and so chill
Goosebumps.
just awesome
Love how the sounds from Introduction come back in at the end of the song. Makes the album feel like it "came full circle", if you will.
March 2020 and still gold!!
this is so... amazing its like its.. i cant find the word.
Hits hard
this song makes me feel like someone made a prophecy of something bad that is coming. and that no one will be able to help anyone!!...2017 still listening
“Even heroes know when to be scared”
100% true
I remember hearing this when I was a kid to this day"Even heroes know when to be scared" is a line that gives me legitimate fear
I don't know if it is just me or not. But this seems eerily similar to Chester's incident. At least part of the lyrics do.
After Chester, I don't think I will ever see an LP, FM or DBS song the same ever again. Tell me if you feel the same.
Arnav Sinha Roy giving up is the only step to failure. If there music falls through the cracks because of deliberate failure, were they ever really worth it?
Best song
I know this comment is 2 years old but I have never found music I leked as much as linkin park or mike shinoda and I am hungry for more sadly never findinf anithing as good
Thhhhhhhaaat's what she said.
Plz no hate, I fan.
Ahhhhhhh i get it
That's hilarious
+sancurious slip out the back thats what she said
Tober it does sound different when it's not in the words of a cowardly kid
lmao i get it. good one
"Even heroes know when to be scared" that is so true. Most people considered "Heros" are actually people who know what true fear is and can move through despite being afraid
Truer words have never been said
Still a banger and Mike is the greatest
this is a great song. I hope they make more like this
Love This Song... So Sad... Love You Mike, Stay Strong❤❤❤❤❤🙏💜💙💚🧡💛🙏❤❤❤❤❤
"Im not a hero but dont think i didnt care" just sends shivers down my spine, its just so fucking bueatiful. I might actually go out and by the album, I feel like the reason he isnt making any more music is because of douche bags like me who dont pay for my music. Please fellow piraters, support him and show that his music is the best so that he will finally make a new album.
This is so underrated.
Fort Minor IS A LEGEND IN THE RAP GAME NOW!!!!
Why has Mr Hahn not released a solo/collaborative album yet? Such an underrated, proper DJ
Love this !
sick beat
now understand why my friend listens...
what exactly do you mean?
fort minor has always meant alot to me, it described how i felt perfectly about 2 years ago... Its so depressing listening to it now though, makes me tear up every time i listen to a song. other than petrified and in stereo of course lol. those arent emotional those are party songs
Anybody with music theory knowledge: what scale is this intro riff? I can't find it anywhere.
This sounds 90% like the Arabic scale (aka Gypsy Major, Double Harmonic) but with an altered flat 7. Almost like Phrygian but with a natural third. Or a melodic major with a flat 2. What is this madness? I love it.
Ok so after a bit (lot) of research, it's called Phrygian Dominant.
@@flowicious2075 Thanks for sharing buddy. 🙂
superb melody!!!well done.....
I wish I could animate the story I see in my head for this song....
Thinking of this after hearing about Chester.....
What di yii think the sing is about?
You should listen to about u from mike it talks about how everytime he tries to do something and cope w chesters death people or his mind will always go back to chester. We need to let him heal more
If you're still here, you're a legend
soul searching music if i've ever heard any
I love the beat, it is somehow strange but melodic tho
Because I don't need to tell you that life isn't fair
It doesn't care, it arbitrarily cuts off your air
And like you, I want someone to say it's okay
In the truest part of our hearts everybody's afraid
We're just under-appreciated and overwhelmed
Fighting so hard to hide our fear that we're scaring ourselves
If you all want to know what this song is about it was from the perspective of a hit man that made friends with his mark.
@@lastmammoth3158 Bet.
They were so far ahead of their time. Is tending now that I’m older I can appreciate and understand their lyrics. Holy shit.
I would love to hear my favorite artist Eminem and Mike Shinoda to do a song together I would love that collaboration
Time to slip out the back 🏃

Not a bad song on this album 💯 one of the sickest albums out there, I listened to a recent but now I can't find it .

"We're just underappreciated and overwhelmed" was already true in 2005 and has only gotten more true with time. Our western way of life is no way to live a life.
oh god. so great.
