This song holds so much meaning to me. It helped me get through some dark days back when I was 15 and 16. I'll be 27 in 2 months.
greyonyx08 Same here
Xx_The Man_xX That's cool. Fort Minor was so slept on unfortunately.
@@greyonyx08 worse, Dead By Sunrise, Chester's spinoff
Now your almost 30 lol
i too remember those times now. just listened to it again today, it's been years. honestly luckily i got through where i am at now ten years later.
The most insightful and underrated song Mike Shinoda has EVER made.
100% agree
agree. I'm absolutely shocked how true Mike tells the story here
I’ve listened to this album and all it’s songs since it’s release. It’s 2023, l still appreciate the magnitude of the songs, the depths and emotions. Now l’m older and l can appreciate them
more now and understand why l loved them back then. Since l was standing in line at the store in anxious wait to then buying it at release, loving it all the way through and listening on repeat endlessly. Now years later, All l can do or say is turn it up, tell my friends and appreciate it dearly for all the memories.
Sincerely a loyal fan
You have friends you can talk about it, I envy you 😅😅
I couldn’t afford the LE album when it first released. So I didn’t discover this track until like 2013. Don’t get me wrong, I love every track on this album. But as someone who struggles with mental health and addiction, this one hits me the hardest…
@@IamSaralinka Sorry to hear about your struggles. As someone whom battled similarly in those struggles. I gotta say Keep that chin up. Unfortunately it takes work and feels like a constant fight at times but l assure, Life gets better 💪
The great thing is when you listen to it like 10-20 years ago and you rediscover it. But now it sounds even better because my English wasn't that good back then. You can clearly tell that this is the mind behind Linkin Park. Just genius timeless music.
@@robertmusil1107 But it still remains the same, 15-20years later. Thank you for responding.
I wish Mike would make another Fort Minor Album. Seriously, every song on this album is golden, there isn't one bad song on the entire album. I would even argue that this is one of the greatest hip hop albums to date, definetly the most underrated though.
"Not a thing is forgotten, not a thing is forgiven"
so true
yes :)
damn
That hit me on a whole different level.
Wow. Mike Shinoda is a generational talent. What a Beautiful song. Sounds like something that could have been on Meteora if Chester was on the vocals.
I think this song represents how we all feel when change sets in and the loneliness and confusion settles into our thoughts and just festers there
"Someone please explain to me,what happend to the way we always said we'd be."
Too true.
Fort Minor is so damn good, they came out new and trashed music charts for the entire year with The Rising Tied. As a testament to how good their music is, here I am, still listening to it 7 years later.
Me too ;)
Robert's will do the best he can. Thank you.
@@jameswrobertsjr3793 it's 2023 and I still listening every day
Epic bridge at 2:49 ("Can somebody please just explain to me..." how could they come up with such crazy music)
Restoring Memories!
Peace!
I love the way Mike flows in this song. Really slow, but still at a tempo acceptable in a rap song. He flows it in a way where each line stands out, and each line truly deserves too. I love this song, it's so close to home and Mike writes in such a beautiful tone thats univerally interpretational and relatable. Mike has such a huge influence over my writing and his music has done so much for me mentally...Thankyou Mike...Thankyou.
I found this song when I was 15 years old back in 2013.
I'm glad I found this song back then. it has helped me realize how people are these days and how true this song really is.
Me tooo, i was 15 years old when i listened for the firs tome, but it was 2008. Since this day i become in a fort minor fan, i really love Mike's songs and linkin park is My favorite band ever

"The Hard Way"
Come with me
Let me walk you through the world that I currently stay in
You can take a look around and tell me if I'm mistaken
You can meet and talk to everybody that I live with
Maybe you can tell me why everybody's so distant
Is it me or maybe, when I look around daily
I don't even know the people I can put my trust in lately
People that I used to hang with now they're acting’ so different
I'm still the same person why doesn't anybody listen
Can somebody please just explain to me
What happened to the way that we always said we’d be
Right now I dunno why I push through the pain that I got through
And I'm losin’ hope
[chorus]
Deafening voices
That frequency inside my head that says
I'm going at it the hard way I focus
Get everything inside out of my brain that claims
I'm going at it the hard way
Come with me
Let me walk you through the world that I currently live in
Not a thing is forgotten, not a thing is forgiven
Nobody can hold their own underneath the weight but
Nobody can take the blame for their own mistakes so
What do you do when somebody lets you down
And you wanna say something but you can’t 'cause they're not around
Inside you think they know the extent of the pain
But they won’t even admit that they were the one to blame
Can somebody please just explain to me
What happened to the way that we always said we’d be
'cause right now I dunno why I push through the pain that I got through
And I'm losin’ hope
[chorus]
Voices (voices) in my head (in my head)
Can somebody please just explain to me
What happened to the way that we always said we’d be
Right now I dunno why I push through the pain that I got through
And I'm losin’ hope, give me one reason not to
[chorus]
Thank you
Thanks a lot
the song of my life

Me ✌🏼
haha that's it :D
You're not alone ma friend😏
Strings, pianos, guitar, and really complicated drum work. Man, those weird drums on this track are so insane and catchy at the same time. Also, Kenna...man his voice, no autotune there. He has some meditative vocals. Cmon Mike, make an album with him, please.
Some of the best drum programming ever
Mike's beats are recognizable for sure. Not overly complicated but he understands grooves or whatever the technical terms are
Thank you Mike, for this timeless masterpiece album.
my favorite song from the album

I just don't understand Mike.
I've never seen anyone with this kind of skill in all parts of music and art, it's just amazing.
2021 e ainda ouvindo essa obra de arte!!!
Why this isn’t on Spotify? Please this song helps me a lot
One of the best Fort Minor songs…and it’s not even on iTunes.
Why?
It came out on the Limited Edition album cd.
My guess is they want to keep it limited; as it’s in my opinion the best song on the album. They wanted to keep the purity of the song where you had to look for it.
Just my thoughts.
It sucks you can’t download this song or the limited album anywhere
Yup. I always have to come to RUclips to listen to it as it isn't on standard streaming services 🥺 I'm just glad it is on RUclips at least

This song is timeless
I just want to say that this song is probably one of the most meaningful songs in my library. I listened to it a lot one winter when I discovered it. At the time my life had taken a huge turn for the worse: I was living with my best friend whom I felt was growing more distant from me every day (and which deeply troubled me bc I loved him like a brother, still does now that we don't speak anymore), my girlfriend and I had just gone through a rough breakup, my parents had disowned me and we weren't on talking terms, and I felt like everybody hated me. Things fell apart and I had a huge fight with my friend, which rekindled my relationships with my parents and my girlfriend. I used to think of myself being mike, and him being the one i was talking about im the lyrics. But today i realize I was the one that was described in the lyrics, and I was wrong. And honestly to this day this song still makes me think of him, and to this day I still miss him and wish things would have gone differently. This song hits me deeper than any other, thank you Mike for the wonderful music, and sorry it took so long to write this comment!
How you doing now?
@@CODMWX you know it's funny, life's turned way around these days. I actually reached out and made amends with the friend I was talking about shortly after this post bc this song got me thinking about it. 2 years and we're back to being close friends again. 3 years and it's like nothing ever changed except the bond is stronger now. Life's got a funny way of working out like that
@@thepunkredjay7963 I am happy for you man, was asking becouse I am in kinda a bad position now in life :/
@@CODMWX you know, I definitely know the feeling. Used to vibe to this song that one winter, couldn't listen to it for years after bc it brought me back so many painful memories of people I lost, stupid things I did, and moments where if I had just been a bit more sensible then I could have changed everything.
Things seemed so bleak back then, like everything id ever built just fell apart in front of me, years upon years of work just gone in the wind. I vibed so hard to that last line "I'm losing hope, give me one reason not to". But you gotta keep your head up, things look up eventually. That winter ended and it took years to set everything straight again, but I did it. It took me a long time to set everything straight but I'm stronger for it .
And you know what? I wouldn't change a thing. Its that experience that shapes me to be who I am now, a stronger person, a better person, and someone who is working to make their own music now to hopefully help out every soul out there that was as lost as I was. Keep your chin up, I believe in you. I believe we can all make it through, we just have to weather our storms and face the trials life throws at us.
@@CODMWX and to quote another song Mike and LP did, "May your love never end, and If you need a friend, theres a seat here alongside me"

What did happen to the way we said we'd be....stole the words right out of my mouth!
I cherish my children and the music they bring to my ears
Rock songs are usually the types of songs that can touch me heart so much to the point where I cry listening. But this is one of the few rap songs that is able to touch my heart the way rock does. As I listen I think about the people that I thought I knew, thought I could trust. It feels so sad how people can switch up on you. Thank you for this song.
One of his best songs along with bloc party and 100 degrees !
Favorite song still

I was absolutely obsessed with Linkin Park in junior high which was around the same time this album came out. Been a while since I revisited but I can still somehow remember the lyrics to a lot of these songs. Still excellent.
Same. It helps that both Chester and Mike are brilliant at enunciating so clearly when they sing/rap.
Amazing band. Wish them the best. I also want Mike to record another album with Styles of Beyond. The Rising Tied is one of the best hip hop albums ever for me. And Mike's voice and rapping... The best sound ever.
This song is so perfect for former friends who you had a close bond with only for them to turn their backs and stab yours.
