"Red To Black"
I had a friend named Victor
The two of us used to hang every single day
And it seemed like overnight
That his whole life just changed
I know when his mom and dad broke up
It didn't make sense
But i know that his dad was a drunk
And he gambled away the rent
Pretty soon Vic was seeing red
Pissed off and instead
He'd drink every night until he passed out
And then he'd do it all again
The whole time smiling on the outside
To cover the pain
But on the inside
All he was trying to do was get away
Dying to get away
Let the pain of yesterday
Go slipping through the cracks
Yo, Funny how things change color
Than fade to another shade
When you had it made it was all good
But now look just another day
It was so fresh
It was so clean
Never saw it gone
One, two, three
Lights out, which way to turn
Can't get a grip
All alone in a big white house
Every day gets worse
And you just curse until your head bursts
And it hurts so bad she left
Now you suffer
Should've thought of that one first
No family, no kids
Cant accept what you did
Now you wanna run away
But you can't
Cause the past comes back again
Slippin through the cracks
Sip a little jack
Go to bed half dead
What about rent
Why does every cent gotta be a bet
When it's gonna end
Oh my god we don't got a penny left
My moms gotta find a way
To get a job, out of debt, out of dodge
Out of breath, out of this big problem
My pops wanna get away from the pain
In a better place in his brain
But the medication he takes
Makes him wasted
So sick he was gonna think
The good lord would come take him
I'm shaking him
Wake up you son of a bitch!
He's dying to get away
Let the pain of yesterday
Go slipping through the cracks
Hiding himself away
Watching all the memories fade away
From red to black
He's dying to get away
Let the pain of yesterday
Go slipping through the cracks
Hiding himself away
Watching all the memories fade away
From red to black
Slipping through the cracks
Slipping through the cracks
Slipping through the cracks

Charlie Scene Standard practice for writing out lyrics with line breaks that frequent.
They do it in Poetry reprintings too, to denote the original script's line breaks.
Apple Sauce it’s like a pause
Outstanding job bro you deserve way more credit
The thing I like about the band is that they mix rock with rap with actual meanings that link to the real world
True.
No bad words, no shyte lyrics.
Just pure emotions
Just like Linkin Park :)
@@johndthottam dude did you even listen to the song one of the lyrics is "wake up you son of a b*tch" lol
Kenna's voice is melotic. It rings in my ears and stays there for days.
🤞🏻
It also sounds, like in the chorus, we can hear Mantranga singing. I wish that Kenna and Mantranga did similar stuff to this song :C
2022 and this album still hit hard
I relay prefer this type of rap than the newer kind it reminds me of the old school
i know its nothing like old school but it has a similar beat to me
+mikenike :P I really like this type because it's not all just drugs, sex, and dumb shit like that.
+ Gavin Mclaurin same plus you can understand what hes saying
mikenike :P I can understand some fast rappers, but Fort Minor takes no effort to understand it. It's crazy how great it is.
+Gavin McLaurin ture can't wait for them to come back soon hopefully
2020 and still one of the greatest albums ever!
Facts this album is classic.

I can't believe I'm still alive to remember this masterpiece album exists. Thank you lord.
I'll never forget hearing this for the first time with headphones on at 17yo. I'm 33 and I'm still listening to this album.
This hits hard in 2024
Red to Black and The Hard Way are my absolute favorites from The Rising Tied.
I've never heard Hardway song, only the instrumentals are what I've ever heard.
So underrated
Greatest song ever
Indeed
Timeless classic that not enough people know about.
I agree. Every song that Mike and Chester have done are relatable to most ppl not to mention the music is absolutely sick! These guys were one of the many bands that inspired me to make music myself. I have yet to get it out in the open yet. I've only told family members, friends and nurses/doctors from the hospital I practically almost grew up in so far and plant it here and there in random YT channels. lol
Anyone who still listens to Fort Minor in these modern times is "WISE!!!!"
This is a complete masterpiece...
Second best FM song, first being High Road.
+Gavin McLaurin both are just perfect songs, wouldnt change a thing
Idk, the sarcasm and the beat in Cigarettes make a strong push for me. The storytelling in Right Now and so on... A lot of great songs in this album, can't really pick the best one.
Júlio Soares The only two songs I don't like are In Stereo and Petrified. They are alright, I just don't care for them.
This one's my favorite! But I do like High Road and Believe Me :)
I like Back Home a lot.
This song is really the reality of so many touch childhoods as mine was ! Tough childhoods do take a toll in a longer run even though we believe it doesn’t !
Supporting my wife through this. She had a terrible childhood. We need to be there for each other.
@@KitsGravity it’s difficult though… once scarred always scarred … the only way to is to dispense that energy in something productive.
@@bhooshankulkarni2928 I would suggest therapy and psychiatry. It is a long process and often feels more painful than the problem itself but it is a comprehensive way for tackling your traumas and mental health issues. It is a long difficult journey but one day, you do walk out stronger than when you started
@@KitsGravity thanks for the suggestion appreciate it … although it is too late for me now !
@@bhooshankulkarni2928 never too late, bro. My wife started therapy at 28 and a year later she is a lot better. Some of my friends are close to 32-33 and they just started too and it is really helping them.
I really wish peace upon you and wish you find yourself
This song means more to me than most will ever know. ❤️ LP and FM and RIP Chester and much love to family and friends!
Same T^T
my favorite song on the album
Fort Minor are so goddamn underrated
That's what I love about fort minor. It's a nice little change to rap over saturated with sex, profanity, and fake machismo.
agree
Totally agree with you, Mate.
mike is the best rapper of all time #facts
Jesus Ponce What's the fucking problem with fucking profanity?
There's nothing inherently wrong with profanity, but it becomes an issue when everyone starts using it excessively to show some of that "fake machismo", when in reality, it was completely unneeded and repetitive.
Fort Minor, Linkin Park, Mike Shinoda, its all the same!! nice music...
It's so cool how his is technically rap but it's also a rock band. I love it.
Wow I just realized that each perspective in this story/song is sung by a different rapper.
Haha dumb ass
@@shartergray2293 lmao chilllll
