  • The advantages of building 100 percent aluminum sailboats far outweigh the disadvantages. With more than 50 years of building aluminum sailboats, the Alubat shipyard ensures the structural integrity of all its vessels by using this proven construction methodology.

The fact that you know that everything inside the boat fits through the door is a big advantage for the owner of the boat, I would think.

So many boats have to saw up furnishings bulkheads or strip down engines to bare blocks virtually to get them out.
It's the iPhone problem but it's got through to cars and boats even earlier...
Large ships even have to have their sides cut away to replace engines or transmissions 🤷🏻
The other factor is that a lot of boats are going to have to be repowered in the next decade... because of the pollution problems...and fossil fuel restrictions.

Using aluminium screws? If not, get ready to maybe replace the beans beneath the cover and the cover due to galvanic corrosion.

2 questions: how far along is Alubat on electric drives? And how are you making these ‘orca-proof’ for those darn Portuguese orcas?

Alubat has launched 3 or 4 hybrids to date. As for the Orcas - we know of 4 Orca encounters with an Alubat and 0 rudder damage!

These are only disadvantages to the builder not the owner.

It's all connected by many factors. A boat that's cheaper to build may be cheaper to buy, but more costly to maintain, etc. So pros and cons of both. That said, a boat that's better built to begin with is probably a better value long term, so I agree with your point.
For these and many other reasons, Aluminum seems an ideal material for a boat.
