    Thank you so much for this! My partner got me the core game for my birthday and told me to pick a film box and I chose the ghost one because I love haunted houses and was like “oh no! “ when I realised how hard it was haha. But watching you play through really helped me understand the strategies. So thankyou!

    • @homegamerdad
      @homegamerdad  Год назад +2

      Awesome, so glad it helped! Poltergeist is a tough one, mainly because you can’t just go full offensive against her. A lot more strategy, planning, and some luck is needed. But once you hit that win, what a great feeling!

    So after losing to the poltergeist 5 times in a row my GF wanted to give it a shot, and lo and behold she beats the poltergeist on her very first try.

      I’ve been there! lol Not with poltergeist, but I’ve faced other solo gaming challenges that I just couldn’t get past. Then here comes my wife, who enjoys games but doesn’t play them nearly as much as I do, and pulls off some crazy wins!

  • @HerKnightable

    Can't bring a victim through a killer space without a card that allows you to do so. (21:39) such as liquid courage. Poltergeist is brutal...

    • @homegamerdad
      @homegamerdad  Год назад +1

      Whoops, yup, you are correct. Got so excited about rescuing the victim, just ran right through the evil spirit 👻 Poltergeist is VERY tough, but fun to play against.

    • @HerKnightable
      @HerKnightable Год назад

      @@homegamerdad One of the only games I kinda think is better knowing your likely to lose. Of all of them I think Hans can absolutely be the hardest of them. Poltergeist is pretty much entirely luck.

    • @gwgumby
      @gwgumby Год назад +1

      That rule actually could have prompted a possible winning strategy. Had you run upstairs and grabbed another victim and ran out a window, you could have flipped your character card and left other victims for the Poltergeist to go after rather than sitting on top of you for the rest of the game (except for the Terror cards that brought her back to you.)

    • @HerKnightable
      @HerKnightable Год назад

      @@gwgumby Also true. Poltergeist can be the easiest of all of the killers... and the most impossible.

    • @homegamerdad
      @homegamerdad  Год назад

      @@gwgumby Not sure about winning, but definitely would have kept me alive longer. She might have killed that last survivor, but once that Terror Card happened where she jumped to me, she would have been on my heels for the rest of the game. Especially once the Final card flipped, it would have been brutal.
      In any case, I can’t bring Victims into the Killer’s space, which I will have to be more mindful of for future plays 🧐

    Great. The first feature I pick up in the series is the most difficult. 😵‍💫

    • @homegamerdad
      @homegamerdad  Год назад

      Hardest one is Series 1, at least I think so. Mainly because the killer can’t be beat and the house can wipe out a LOT of victims before the first round! Is it possible to win: yes, I’ve done. Granted only once, but a win is a win 😅 GOOD LUCK! 🍀👍🏻

  • @faerieknight2298
    @faerieknight2298 Год назад +2

    Poltergeist is brutal, and facing her in Creech Manor is extra brutal due to how far apart the search locations are. Meaning you're likely to be spending a long time just searching for the girl and/or her rabbit. Took me ages to beat this scenario with both included final girls, and both times it felt like pure dumb luck rather then any planning on my part.

    • @homegamerdad
      @homegamerdad  Год назад +1

      Yeah, that ghost is no joke. I 100% agree with that luck factor. My one and ONLY win came with finding Carolyn fairly early. Granted a few other things like the helicopter came into play that really helped, but a win is a win.

    • @faerieknight2298
      @faerieknight2298 Год назад +1

      @@homegamerdad Of course, that's assuming an event doesn't flat out make winning impossible... such as the event that makes the Attic a death trap you can't enter, but the kid being in the Attic item deck. Had that happen multiple times.

  • @mambatabac
    @mambatabac Год назад +3

    Personally I think this is the weakeast feature box. I get they were trying something different with the mechanics but it's too heavily based on luck. Basically, you have to pray Carolyn is in the first place you search because if she isn't it's pretty much game over

    • @homegamerdad
      @homegamerdad  Год назад +1

      It’s definitely VERY different compared to all the other films, and takes a lot of patience to finally get that win. The opening event can be devastating, knocking out so many victims before you even get your first turn. And, like you said, you NEED to be lucky enough to find Carolyn in the first place you look. And hope you won’t need that dang rabbit doll…

    Shouldn't the roll for the window jumping be the 5-6 meaning they move in that direction, and jump? Instead of 5-6 being successes?

    • @homegamerdad
      @homegamerdad  Год назад

      No, I don’t think so. Card says “roll a dice for each victim in a window spot. If the result is 1-4 (so that’s 1, 2, 3, or 4), the victim jumps out the window and is killed.” Card doesn’t say anything about 5-6 results, nor does it mention any other movement or being “panicked”.
      I see their event as a supernatural force compelling them to jump, and a 5-6 was the victim able to willfully push away that entity, so they do nothing. That’s how I read and understood it at least.

    Just found this now. I actually beat Creech Manor/Poltergeist the first time I played it, due to a strange combination of circumstances where the Poltergeist got stuck outside the house.

    • @homegamerdad
      @homegamerdad  3 месяца назад

      Now you got to play it again and see if that duplicates 😅 I tell you, this game is SUPER swingy. Some games are a walk in the park, others burry you within two turns. I may be the crazy one, but that’s one of the many things I love about it 🤪

    • @davidchapman6504
      @davidchapman6504 3 месяца назад

      @@homegamerdad I know it won't duplicate. It was a very specific set of events that were required - setup, items, Terror cards, Dark Powers. If I'd run into anything that teleported the killer to me as you did in the video, it would have failed. Still funny though.

    • @Kumagoro42
      @Kumagoro42 3 месяца назад

      @@homegamerdad I also had an absurdly fast win in one of my first attempts because the setup put me in the attic, and Carolyn happened to be there, and the event was the helicopter on the roof, so it was like a three-turn win. In a more satisfying one, the Poltergeist had revealed the Invisible Barrier dark power, so I needed to be fully healed to reach an exit. Holding Carolyn's hand, I failed to walk and should have taken damage as a consequence, but you resolve the line left to right, so I triggered the win condition BEFORE taking damage, so I basically tripped over through the barrier face first. :)

      Oh very true, finding Carolyn as soon as you can is key to victory. This one requires a lot more thinking compared to some of the other where you just build up your power and beat the killer senseless.
      I’m also looking forward to the advanced Carolyn that was talked about in the Series 3 Kickstarter.
