This video is great! Maybe you could make some more Final Girl content? I really like your takes! Something like: "Best and worst Events in Final Girl" or "Favourite Items (+ secret envelopes)" or (if you have played any) "Most fun Scenarios" or "Best non-traditional Killer/Location combos" or maybe some fan picks/theories for future feature films.
Glad you enjoyed it, and interesting ideas! Part of me is hesitant to rank elements within the decks themselves, just because I like continuing to be surprised by ones I've never seen before. But I will definitely think about possible Final Girl content in the future, especially once season 3 comes and I have the chance to play it a fair amount. -Ryan
Fun video! I love that this game appeals to so many people in different ways. I personally like Kate, Julia, and Selena as my top 3, and that’s mainly for the experiences and stories I have come up with while playing them. My favorite feature films happen to be The Organism and Poltergeist.
Totally agree, the game is such a rich sandbox that no player's experience is going to be quite the same. I can see why the swinginess could turn some people off, but for me the raised ceiling of exciting and memorable moments makes it totally worth it. -Ryan
@@jamescummings7147 part of it is I’m in it for theme mainly. I enjoy the feeling of actually feeling you are desperately searching and running for your life. However, I do like the variation in it as well. That being said, there’s others who have it as their favorite as well so I’m not the only one, lol, but I think that’s great that different films speak to different people.
The most perplexing part of considering to buy this game is the absolute disregard for the playable character by the community. Thank you SO MUCH for going into each individual Final Girl and their abilities, even though you say at the beginning you may have missed a couple! This is literally the only place I have found this information gathered and organized in a comprehensive way. I have seen several reviews that go in depth on the maps and the killers and say "pick the theme you like!" But for some reason no one gives organized notes of the player characters. I can't afford to buy all the Feature Films in one swoop, and having a good selection of player character abilities seems like it should be a huge deciding factor in choosing which Films to start a collection with. I have decided through a lot of reading and watching let's plays that the Evomorph feature film is the must-have theme for me. In your opinion, which of the Season 2 Feature Films would synergize best for mixing and matching with Ellen/Jenette, the USS Konrad, and the Evomorph?
So glad you found it helpful! My recommendation would probably be Madness in the Dark, both the Asylum and Ratchet Lady are a little less rules-heavy than the Evomorph/USS Konrad which will likely help. Next pick would be Knock at the Door. Hope you enjoy it! -Ryan
I don't have Paula. 😢 I found it hard to justify the ~$5 add-on for one card that I would use so infrequently as I rotate through all of the Final Girls. I definitely hope to do a similar video for season 3! I would likely rank the season 3 content independently and not try to interleave into the content I ranked here, and it may also take a bit for me to play though everything enough to feel like I'm reading to do rankings... 😅 But I hope to eventually! Maybe I should consider recording some playthroughs while I'm working through that content though. -Ryan
@@RollsInTheFamily if i understood it right, there should be an x-mas version for series 3 crowdfunding. but yeah not worth 5$ i guess otherwise. good idea. and take your time. fun comes first. :) playthrougs could be fun too. thx for the response btw - Marah
Yeah "worth it" is going to be different for everyone, but I have to really fight my completionist tendencies or some of my games would get very expensive lol. I do have the Christmas set! I will likely include it when I end up tanking the season 3 content. Also have strongly considered recording some playthroughs for the channel, so helpful to hear there might be interest in that! -Ryan
@@RollsInTheFamily with your expertise it might be very well interesting. gonna leave a subscription to not forget. and yeah i did that way too often, but i collect ttrpgs for a few years now and just did similar with board games kinda. adhd doesnt help. i am easily excited/obsessed. in the case of Final Girl, it was my gf who went all in last crowdfunding. worth it she says.
Really awesome video! I dont usually see people talk about the final girls, so that was really fun. I have all of S1 and most of S2. I think my favorites so far are Into the Void and Happy Trails Horror There's just something so fun and classic about Hans 😊 So excited for S3!!
Nice, adding even just one more box bumps your location/killer combinations from 1 to 4! It's hard to say which I'd most recommend next, but my gut says A Knock at the Door might pair best with that... But you really can't go wrong, especially if there is a set you like more thematically! -Ryan
If you are looking for a location and killer that is always fun I recommend camp happy trails, looking for a hard time slaughter at the sacred grove is a extremely hard one as both Inkanyamba and the sacred grove have extra features. Maple lane is a great in-between
I may have bought all of season 1 and 2 within a couple of weeks and am watching stuff like this to justify my purchase, buuuuut, still having fun. Great vid! Looking forward to series 3 rankings.
Haha, hey having all that content to mix and match is amazing if you play it a lot, and unlike most other games, you don't have to rely on anyone else to get it to the table! 😛 I'm looking forward to playing the season 3 content! -Ryan
Good job! This is the first time I can recall somebody going over all of this in one video. FYI - Julia and Constance are actually crossover characters from Lucky Duck Games' "The Dark Quarter." I'm not entirely sure but I believe Julia is a vampire and Constance might be a witch, or something similar.
Indeed, I backed on Kickstarter but opted out of the ~$5 for one extra final girl, just didn't have the same cost to gameplay value on top of everything else haha. Glad you enjoyed! -Ryan
Fun video! One thing that’s critical to ranking the Final Girls, themselves, is their own personal special items (unlocked when you win a game with them… or you can just utilize them right away if you want). You didn’t take those into account, and they can be big difference makers.
The reason is I've been trying to win at least one game with each final girl first, which has taken so long that I haven't gotten back to actually playing with their personal special items. 😂 -Ryan
I just started playing and Wolfe asylum is SO fun. The pills are crazy fun to gamble with and the minions are only annoying when you don't kite them in a way. Taking a pill to get one movement has definitely given me the chance to get my only win. I needed only one more step to set up combat and win. Great time, cannot wait to try more maps and killer. Also mixing them seems really wild and fun
Glad to hear you enjoyed Wolfe Asylum as much as I have! Mixing and matching is one of the best parts about Final Girl, hopefully you have lots of fun sessions ahead of you. 🙂 -Ryan
I have since received and played the North Pole Nightmare set! Really enjoy it, both Krampus and Santa's Village are great additions, though I have the hardest time remembering the rule of spending time to enter the space of Santa's annoying elves. 😛 -Ryan
Theoretically, if I am Melanie holding an Axe and about to play a critical blow, could I potentially do 9 damage (3 w/ double success crit + 2 axe hit combo with crit + 2 for her ability + 2 axe hit combo with ability use)? OR would I not be able to an axe with her ability and just do 7 damage
I don't think you can use the axe with Melanie's ability, so it would be 2 separate resolutions: 2 damage from her ability, and then an attack for 5 with critical blow and the axe. -Ryan
It's August 2024.I've just bought FG and this video pops up. The only expansion I have so far is Knock on the Door, so it looks like I made a decent choice!
Better late than never! Warning that sacred grove has probably kicked my butt more than any other set haha so don't get discouraged if it's a little rough. -Ryan
Ha hard to say, but Santa's Village feels like it'd be somewhere in the middle, I like the overall feel but those elves eating up your movement is irritating haha. Krampus might be in the top 5 -- the way he drops presents across the map is really dynamic and interesting. Not sure on Final Girls, Mrs Klaus is just a tank and the Elf is really great at rescuing victims since all the bonuses give movement. Overall a great new set! -Ryan
Ha not much we can respond with given how bad they have been recently. I always say it’s the low years that prove whether you are a die-hard fan or not. Thank you for the pity subscription! 😂
