Thank you for playing a round. I just purchased this game and it's very complex for someone who's not really been a gamer but is looking to learn. You've explained it very well. Glad you had fun.
Thank you and glad it helped you learn the game better! it’s a great game, and even though it can be frustrating (argh to unlucky dice), it’s still one I find myself playing over and over again. Also, I agree, a LOT can happen in the game at once, keeping track of everything can be tough. As long as you’re enjoying yourself and having fun, that’s what matters in the end!
You’re very welcome! Hope my play through help you learn this amazing game! There SO much that can happen each play, you never know what horror is going to come next…
Awesome, so glad you enjoyed and it helped you understand the game better! If you ever pick up other Feature Films for the game, I’m covering them, too. Explaining unique mechanics for Locations and Killers, then playing them and hoping for the best 😅
@@homegamerdad Ah that's great! I've just ordered stuff features, and know I'll eventually get the rest, so definitely keen to see you go through each of them. Will also go check out your lore video - week you be trying any of the scenarios in the lore booklets?
When the girlfriend died and you were moving up the bloodlust, you forgot to add even more horror due to the bloodlust tracker. It was even more brutal than it seemed.
Use any small token to mark what phase you are in as you go along , it is a very good habit to get into as things can get very complicated later on and it’s easy to confuse what phase of the game you are in.
Coming away from PC gaming a little and stepping into board games I got: - Alien The Fate of the Nostromo. (I'm a big Alien fan) - Final Girl with Creech Manor + Poltergeist pack plus the base game pack Each costing me £20 so for a newbie getting into board games £60 is not bad for two games of three items that I can keep playing having a chance of getting different outcomes. I love how the box itself becomes the game, that is really cool to see! Watching your video on Final girl made me go for buying it since the thing holding me back was the two sperate box purchase.
If you're into the Alien franchise, I HIGHLY recommend you getting the Evomorph/USS Konrad Feature Film for Final Girl (which I've played on the channel). It's 1000% inspired by Alien and is currently my favorite Final Girl Feature Film so far. You can even take the Evomorph killer and send it to ANY location you already have! Killer alien stalking campers?! YES PLEASE! Glad you enjoyed the play through, thank you so much!
That Dark Obesession card is bad news , if Hans attacks you doing 4 damage he immediately attacks you again doing another 4 damage , you’re dead meat , but remember if you gain another life ❤️ , any excess damage doesn’t carry over and the killer phase ends immediately.
At about 40:00, you seem to suggest that you ‘can’t’ take the trashcan lid because it requires a hand and you have the bow equipped in two hands. NO! You could have taken the lid and placed it in your backpack for later use. You were not even using the bow at that time, so no reason to have it equipped, also.
Being the first time I recorded a Final Girl session, there was a LOT I had to learn and remember as I did all the things. Overall it worked out pretty well, but yeah, things like what you said I’ve been a lot better at keeping track of and remembering while playing. Thank you!
Use Laurie’s bow immediately during your action phase to remove Hans’s minor power card , it will damage you later if you don’t remove it. Remember it has a range of up to 3 spaces.
Forgetting to panic that victim early in the game changes the rest of the game because next killer phase he wouldn’t have been able to kill her as she wouldn’t be on his space and maybe he wouldn’t move , this afffects everything that would have happened thereafter.
So I just got my final girl today, my first episodes are camp happy trails, the Freddy Krueger one and the Carnival one when you play these setting how long do it take to finish will I be able to start and stop as I please
A typical game for me start to finish, that would be beginning set-up to starting the breakdown, is about an hour to and hour & 1/2, depending on how soon things take the inevitable "turn for the worst". You could start and stop as you please, I would recommend finishing a round before walking away, but you'd have to leave everything set up.
@@homegamerdad yea man I played today and had to pause to go pick up my daughter from school play happy trails but instead of using Laurie I ran with Reiko because I rarely see RUclipsrs use her, so far I rescued 7 victims, 2 have died and one is left with just me and Hans… my events was secrets tunnels which is dope bcuz I can jump From one spot to the other, wish victims can use the tunnels with out me tho… the game is intense and intriguing I like how in a instance everything can change one terror card and Hans set the whole utility shield on fire and burnt all the items in it so long boat keys 😢
Early on , better to leave the girlfriend at the fire pit after rolling 3 dice then take two victims to be saved then return to the fire pit and roll 3 dice again then take another 2 victims to be saved ?
For me, it all depends on who I’m going up against and where. My lowest won percentage (with only 1 won out of 7 or 8 games) is the poltergeist. Highest I think is Dr Fright, I only lost to him twice out of about the same amount of games. I need to start tracking my games more so I know what locations are harder then other, plus I need to play more of series 2. In series 1, the Sacred Grove is a tough map, with CHT being the easiest.
@@homegamerdad It would be super interesting to know about that, about what films (or enemies or maps) you think are easier/harder. I'll be waiting for a video review about that, just in case you decide to record it. :) Btw, if you make that video, you could try to explain why some enemies or scenarios are more difficult. That would help figure out strategies to deal with them.
@@homegamerdad I've played a couple of times and I've won 2 times. These 2 times I won, I got the axe, which is perfect to plan just one massive final attack that would kill Hans in one turn (since even the weak strike can deal 4 damage, so it didn't matter that he had 2 minor dark powers). I will see if I can find strategies to kill him with other items.
I dont think you can use the bow at range for that extra damage on Laurie's special abilty. Its says you have to be in the same space as the enemy to do the +1 damage :(
Ahh, that is true, it DOES say she needs to be in the same space. That's unfortunate because it would work so great with her weapon, not that I got the chance to even come close to pulling that off 😅
@@stuggy6077 Nah, upkeep is the very last step of every round. If you take a close look at the player board you can see this at number 5. So the deathwish was played correctly.
Not that it matters but you should of revealed the finale a turn earlier because you didn’t resolve the effect of his last two victim kills which would of discarded the remaining terror cards earlier.
Yeah, I think ultimately that game was a loss, but still enjoyed playing through it. I’ve been getting better with my other plays with keeping track of what needs to be done each phase, trying not to make these mistakes. Also, my “master plans” often go sideways on me. And I also realized that same thing you mentioned off camera. Again, not that it mattered in the end, but still a thing to remember.
@@homegamerdad yeah lots to keep track of sometimes it’s easy to forget a few things! The carnival scenario with geppetto had me so lost my first couple plays
I have had this game for a few weeks. While watching this video I saw that the is an Epic Finale card. I don't have this card in my box. I have the Epic Dark Power card. Its the Finale card an extra from somewhere or is my box missing a card?
The Epic Finale cards are actually not in the Feature Films. I think they came in the Bonus Features box for series 1, which also had the Gruesome Death book, the scenario book, and I think a lore book or something f like that. They did this for series 1 & 2 and most likely 3 as well. Krampus is the only one right now that just comes with both Epic cards.
I’ve gone on record throughly apologizing for not giving a *Spoiler Warning* at the beginning of the video. I was very excited for being able to show off the game, and didn’t think about the impact of showing the card. I should have thought better about it beforehand. Again, and I’ll say it a thousand times, I am very sorry 🙇🏼♂️ that you got spoiled, and warn that I show off those cards in my other videos.
Can you search the same location twice in the same action turn if you have both search cards in your hand ? , I don’t see any reason why not and the rule book doesn’t say you can’t.
I think your girlfriend is still regarded as a victim and in that case she would have moved one space closer to Hans along with all the other victims who were instructed by the terror card to move one space closer to Hans .
Because I wanted to hold onto that ability to roll an extra dice for as long as I could. You know rolling extra dice in Final Girl is VERY helpful. I was going to send her away once Laurie unlocked her power, but she had to go play the hero…
Depends. Middle of the Horror gauge has you roll 2 dice, but the green section is 3 and the red is only 1. If I take enough damage to be at only 1 health, I get another die. Same for taking the killer down to 1 health. In this scenario, so long as the Girlfriend was with me, I gained another dice. Lots of ways to roll more then 2.
In round 2, I don't believe you reduced the time tracker for the sprint card you used. You recorded the 2 time to reroll all dice and then just moved on to the walk card I think.
I believe it, I’ll have to look back and see. I missed those “reduce time” parts of the cards quite a bit in the beginning when I first started to play the game. I’ve gotten better at paying attention to it, but still happens from time to time…

Another good suggestion.
This is a great tip, when I decide to skip an action phase in order to get some decent cards I almost always get confused.
It's bad enough that Laurie and her girlfriend have Hans to contend with; they also have giant dice falling from the sky and knocking them down.
The world of Final Girl is full of many dangers 😳 ESPECIALLY unruly dice 🎲

The flaps on top of the killer board and location board are designed so the they can be gently bent back so they lie flat.
Yup, great design by Van Ryder Games.
Place the death wish event card below the upkeep phase printed on the board so you don’t forget to apply its effects.
Good way to keep track.
You don’t flip over Han’s finale card until the upkeep phase , and only if there are no terror cards in the deck.
Indeed. It’s the “end game” trigger, Hans is then super powered and the final girl is very screwed…
